I stopped in today for the first time with the amazing individual I support, and ended up having such a genuinely lovely experience. We weren’t sure how the guest pass worked, and one employee told me we’d need to connect everything through my client’s phone, which we didn’t have with us. Before I even had a chance to stress about it, another front desk employee, Jake, stepped in with the kindest energy. He handled everything on the spot, registering me, taking my ID photo and getting my guest card ready with zero hassle so we could work out right away. He was so patient, gracious and welcoming that it immediately lifted the whole moment. When you’re juggling a lot, small kindnesses like that feel huge, and his help meant a lot more than he probably even realized.

I really appreciate when someone takes pride in what they do and chooses to meet others with compassion. Thank you, Planet Fitness, for always being so good to my client and making him feel welcome. And especially thank you to Jake at the front desk; you were a bright, unexpected little spark in our day.

The Front desk has some polite young folks who work hard to up keep the gym. But my major issue is when nothing is done to address someone who takes ownership of some equipment for 20 plus minutes not allowing other members to work in who also pay membership. Its like " hey man , how many sets do you have left"? And they stay on for the whole night looking at their cell phones. I spoke with the older Blonde lady (who is pretty rude btw), during day shift to address this and she basically stated she won't do anything. Thanks Maam!! How disappointing!!

Shout out to Planet Fitness Barnegat and the amazing staff that work there.

As the old saying goes: you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone… and wow, did I find that out the hard way.

I went there for years, but switched gyms about 6 months ago because the new one was closer to my house. Big mistake. The first time I walked in, I was hit with two things: how dirty it was and how uninterested the staff were. To this day, I still have to work harder to get a “hello” from the staff than I do on the treadmill.

The difference was so drastic that I actually called Planet Fitness Barnegat just to tell them how great they are.

Here’s the truth: that gym was always spotless. Honestly, there are four guarantees in life—birth, death, taxes, and seeing a PF Barnegat staff member cleaning while you work out. And the staff? Always smiling, always friendly, always making you feel welcome. Those little things add up.

I long for the day I make my triumphant return to Planet Fitness Barnegat. I can see it now—the purple and yellow lights beaming down as I cross the threshold, before sheepishly asking the front desk to sign me in (because, of course, I’ve left my card at home again). They’ll kindly remind me—once more—that I could just use the app to store my card. And we’ll both smile, knowing full well I’ll never download it, and that we’ll have this exact same conversation the next time I walk in. And that’s perfectly fine—because it’s never a problem at PFB.

Never will I be happier to see that $15 vanish from my bank account.

Until then, stay classy, PFB, and make sure your staff know that they are absolutely amazing.

Nice gym, but stinks it's only till 10 pm on Friday and Saturday. I am a night person and can't workout in the middle of the day. Plus I work without day offs, being able to go to the gym in later hours are crucial for me, but for some reason they decided to do not have those 2 extra hours in this planet fitness :(

Really like the selection of machines and attention to a clean environment however in their recent effort to upgrade they removed about 5 recumbent bikes and replaced them with just 2. As one of many seniors who relied on them for cardio this didn’t make sense. We don’t use elliptical or treadmills. The programming on the new ones are not as intuitive as the old ones and the foot pedals are much smaller.There's plenty of room for additional recumbents, . Don’t understand this at all.

The planet fitness in Barnegat has very old cardio machines that break every other use and don’t get fixed for months. If the machine isn’t 100% broken, the screen is faded making it difficult to understand what it says. It doesn’t help that it is PACKED here almost constantly leaving people with often no cardio machine to use at all, let alone any of the weight lifting machines downstairs. The building is not nearly as big as it should be to accommodate the amount of people that come here. At least replace the machines that nobody uses with ones that people actually do use. Whenever I see someone take a tour here I wish I could tell them everything wrong with this planet fitness.

Tanning booths have multiple lights out 16 out 2 flickering they are still using it. I asked the blonde women who was managing or franchise owner if they knew she brushed it off we've called for maintenance that's a first i ever seen a planet fitness not be able to change bulbs and with 16 out they have known about it for weeks and neglected to offer services properly that are paid for and neglected to be an upstanding franchise.
A good management team and owners would have addressed the issue long before this post and shut that booth down vs deceptive business practices by continuing to operate the booth in its current capacity.

NEW EDIT: i stand corrected. i think management or some staff have changed at this location. i never had a problem with the staff, but the management is super nice and always says hello and have a nice workout or day when you’re leaving. it’s also important to note they always make sure to personally scan your membership QR code. this PF has significantly dropped in it’s crowdedness and i think it’s because before too many people were coming in without a membership or maybe people have stopped going but it’s never too busy anymore where you can’t get to your machine at some point. the machines are always working and clean. bathrooms are very clean and you can see staff going in there often to make sure they are clean. it’s nice to have such an attentive staff to the gym! it’s not 24/7 anymore on the weekends so that might affect some people though. otherwise, awesome gym!!

OLD REVIEW: it’s a nice gym, clean, and good that it’s open 24/7, the only problem is that it gets so so crowded. people are sitting on equipment or holding weights and just sitting and not actually working out. i had to wait for a machine for almost 25 minutes because someone was sitting on it and using their phone. i’m convinced PF signs way too many people up for membership over the capacity of what the gyms can hold at certain locations because this gym just gets way too busy all the time. the 24/7 is nice like i said but if you want to work out outside of the time you’d be sleeping then it’s not doable unless you want to hit the gym at 1AM-3AM

Update: I have to say the manager at this facility named Chris is outstanding, not only does he think about the customer and their specific needs He's an outstanding listener that is very hard, I've been doing this as stated below for very long time I saw the gentleman that we had a misunderstanding with so he went to management and say that he saw me I humbly say that when I see that gentleman next I will apologize for any inconvenience that day that caused him, I cannot believe again how Chris and I'll state this again the manager of the barnegat planet fitness handled this situation. He is an asset as all the employees are planet fitness are throughout the country, I travel a lot. And I train exclusively after being in many health clubs at all the planet fitnesses that I can find so thank you Chris and I look forward to meeting you God bless.

This morning, I had a disappointing experience at Planet Fitness in Barnegat Township. Upon arriving, I realized I didn't have my check-in QR code on my new phone, a Fold 5 Samsung. James, the front desk trainer, refused to assist me and wouldn't log me in using my phone number for tanning services. His demeanor was rude and disrespectful, causing unnecessary stress. Despite addressing the issue with the shift manager, who was dismissive and unsupportive, I received threats from other gym-goers for speaking up. As a retired 55-year-old, such treatment is unacceptable. With numerous other Planet Fitness locations nearby, I won't be returning to this one. The staff is super nice especially the overnight staff love yall. But the gym is small and gets very crowded even when there’s 5 ppl working out if feels like a lot more. I also hate the fact that this gym is not 24 hours on weekends I work overnights and the only time I can go sometimes is 3am but weekends I just can’t even go to the gym. The next closes 24 hour planet fitness is 30 min away. There is no 24 hour gyms in my area I have no choice but to go to planet. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS GYM. They use scummy tactics to make it impossible to cancel. I do not live in the area and bought a month pass to workout while on a work trip. I canceled after my trip was over at the front desk and my bank account is still being charged monthly even after cancellation.

When I called to correct this error and ask for a refund, they said they only accept cancellations in person. I am working with my bank to report them for fraud as they continue to charge my account without permission after cancellation.

I am almost 60 years old and have never belonged to a gym. I am overweight and have been having some slight health issues. At the direction of my physician, I joined the gym to lose some weight and build strength. I was very nervous and yes, feeling intimidated. But my experience has been wonderful. I learned quickly that everyone is just doing their own thing and like the ad says I feel the environment is judgement free. Actually, most people are helpful and the staff is very friendly. The gym is always clean and the equipment seems to be well maintained. I'm glad I joined and am looking forward to reaping the rewards of my efforts!

This gym used to be way cleaner, but now the machines are nasty dusty/dirty. I showed a picture of dirt/big dust balls on the floor where ppl workout on mats to a member worker there, she asked where the dust balls were, so I told her it was in the ab room. Been a member for a few months... was never shown around, given a card - had to ask for one - in fact, the girl behind the desk at the time told me I didn't need one, and am rarely greeted. Walked in again (no greeting), but instead was practically chased down by a male staff member for not scanning my card and told, "You have to scan your card every time you come in.
