This location closes early on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, so they aren't 24 hours.

There's always broken machines. I think the rotary torso machine has been broken for over 2 months.

In the afternoons and evenings, no one cleans. No one cleans on the weekends, either. Staff are always playing with their phones up at the desk.

There's no place to stretch or do mat exercises so people are laying the mats next to the machines which is pretty dangerous.

It's good to go during work hours when it's older people who aren't on their phones taking up machines. Those old people are really serious about getting fit. After school you can't get people to move. They aren't interested in working out.

I have to be honest and say that this is the dirtiest gym I have ever been to! The machines are ALWAYS Extremely DUSTY!! I used to go to the Planet Fitness in Hoboken many years ago and that place used to be spotless!!! They always had one person at the desk and another one on the floor cleaning machines. I would go there instead of Bayonne but they don’t have parking and that’s the main reason I don’t go there. In Bayonne, Instead of having two people at the desk, there should always be one person on the floor. Last weekend the garbage can by the 30 minute was already full and it was only 9 am!! How? If they open at 7 am on the weekends. It doesn’t even get that crazy packed in the mornings! About two weeks ago, I was laying on a mat in the stretch area and this other member puts a mat next to mine and when she did, dust flew on my face! I was so upset! Not at her, but at the gym for the floor being so dirty. I think it’s horrible that this gym charges an annual fee yet we have to use dirty and dusty machines! Not fair at all to us!!!

I've been a member for more than 2 years and this place has really gone downhill.

It's not bad in the morning when the ladies are working at the desk. They keep everything clean and make sure to do what they can to keep the place functioning. The guys in the afternoon and evening sit on their phones. They don't refill the paper towel dispensers or toilet tissue in the bathroom.

So many of the machines are broken. When I asked why they weren't getting the machines fixed they claimed that there is only one technician who services all of NJ.

At the end of June they closed for a couple of days for a supposed remodel and said that they would be making more space in the area where people stretch. They told the members that they could visit a club in Staten Island. Who the hell is going to pay to go over the bridge. Why couldn't they work out a deal with the Jersey City location? That one has tons more room but you can't go there unless you're a black card member.

Honestly, they didn't accomplish much with the remodel. The only thing that's pretty good is that they have some new treadmills. I find it annoying that they close early on the weekends. There's a lot of weekend to evenings when I would like to work out after doing all the household chores.

I visit a lot of other locations and I see a real difference in the ones where the franchise owners are on site. I know that every Planet Fitness has the free summer program for high school students, but in places where the rules are enforced it is much more manageable. This place is not it.

One of my friends has already dropped out and I have a feeling that a few of us will be switching to other facilities.

Yesterday I began my search for a gym in New Jersey as I retired September 2023 from the Metropolitan Museum where I did over night security from 12 to 8am for 30 years. I was interested in Planet Fitness and I had briefly been.a member and heard great things of new added amenities for black card members. On my arrival a very cordial and well met ypung man named appropriately Matt greeted me. All the members reallly seem to like Matt alot and although very busy Matt was more than willing to talk to me and walk me through app. I struggled to get the app to work and as my frustration began to heighten Matt asked how long do you plan to workout!! I laughed because I have ADHD all my life and tend to workout til i can sleep. Matt said i can see frustrated why dont you go workout come back when you expend some of your energy and we can try again. This location is expansive well kept and orderly. I was really having a great time until walking past the front desk as Matt had left were three women working. I stopped and told them I was interested to sign up and they seemed confused and hyper focused on what Matt had done selling me two towels! I tried again to pay for a membership. I was getting fristrated again and I just went on my merry way

I could write a novel on why I love this planet fitness but will try to keep it brief…THE WORKERS!!! Arelis, Alex, and Bri, all make you feel so welcome and like family. They go above and beyond out of their way to help anyone who needs help. People on staten island ask me why I cross a bridge and pay tolls to keep going to Bayonne PF when I live in NYC and my answer is always THE WORKERS!!! I use to enjoy coming to this location but after they started allowing the high schoolers to workout my enjoyment for working out here slowly decreased. I have a Traumatic Brain Injury, this Is my 6th year working out at Planet Fitness. Not only do they have therapy machines (recumbent bike) etc. They have all updated equipment for all machines as well and they keep them in tip, top, shape. The employees are responsive and respectful. I never seen an issue of workout equipment being down for an extended period of time. They are always wiping down machines as well. Keeping everything clean. I’ve paid a lot more money for my gym membership at other companies. I would have gave the TENS STARS. Bravo!

Used to love going here. Moved states recently so I went in person to cancel my membership. My membership was never canceled so I canceled it online and called in just to clear up any confusion. Miss shirly at PF was literally the rudest employee. I’ve never seen such bad customer service over something so simple. Mind you I never raised my voice or anything. She starts huffing and puffing, and then annoyingly goes “oh my gooooooooood” ?!?! I’m just trying to see if my membership canceled or not. I proceeded to ask for someone else to talk to and she said no. I asked for a manager and she only said “you can just call back”. Wouldnt give me a name or anything. I enjoy the different machines and the different rooms that I can go and do different exercises and I love doing the floor exercises. I like doing the machines and I like the free weights. I like the fact that if I need any type of help, your workers are right there they always walking around and willing to give information and help if I need it. I go to the gym for almost a year I had not had any problems until yesterday I found that my locker had been violated I could never remove the lock because they twisted it I reported this to security or whoever was there unfortunately they did not offer any apology they only told me that if I wanted to break the lock they would break it for me they did not steal anything but they did try to do so I saw the minimal concern for the security of the belongings of the people who attend this place I never try to go between 4 in the afternoon and later because I know that places are full of kids and whoever tried to do this did not do it you just have to have a minimum of three people to be able to try to steal a locker without anyone noticing in such a crowded place.

My son is a high functioning autistic young man that trains with me there. The staff and the customers that work out there are so nice to my son that he is happy there. I live next to the PF on RT440 in Jersey City, but I prefer to drive to PF in Bayonne just bc of the atmosphere. We are there at least 4-5 days a week and mostly everybody there knows us. This is one of the best gym in bayonne. The manager is amazing by interacting with her and observing how she operates and she always ensure to greet everyone who comes through the door. Planet fitness Bayonne has really gone down hill the last year or so. For starters the gym is very dusty and does not seem sanitary. Paper towels are always empty and staff does not care. I go after work and the employees are always buried in their phone and do not interact with any members. Bathrooms are disgusting, the smell of urine in the mens room is disgusting with puddles of piss all around. The stalls are not much better with rusty trash bins and I would not think twice about taking a shower. It is covered in mold and the curtains look like someone painted the curtain white with all the build up mildo.

Once again teenagers 14-19 work our free for 3 months. From June 1st to August 31st. Planet fitness should have more respect with the members that pay their membership. The gym is crowded even during off hours by teens who talk and use their phones more than they work out.

Pros:

-Lots of parking

Cons:

-They recently replaced some machines which was good, but some machines were removed and never replaced. Example: Leg Curl Machine
