This gym is an absolute embarrassment. I walked in with my Black Card membership and brought my guest — something that is literally INCLUDED in what I pay for — and the staff treated us like we were trying to sneak into a prison yard.

The woman at the front desk didn’t just ask for ID; she yelled across the gym, accused my friend of not being who he was, and spoke to us with the kind of attitude you’d expect from someone who has no business dealing with the public at all. The way she addressed us was disrespectful, degrading, and completely unprofessional.

We weren’t talked to like customers. We were talked to like criminals.
If this is the “customer service” they think is acceptable, this place needs a complete retraining from the ground up.

I will never come back, and I’ll gladly take my money to a gym that actually knows how to treat people like human beings.

Avoid this location — unless you enjoy being yelled at and disrespected the second you walk through the door.

I'm visiting family for a few weeks and needed a gym. Ive been to LA Fitness for years and never tried Planet Fitness before.

This place is badass! Super staff at the front. Large facility with plenty of new clean equipment. Well laid out and just an awesome experience. I could only give 5 stars. It deserves 10.

This gym has become an unpleasant place to visit. Every time I come here, I am subjected to harassment from the workers without any apparent reason. This has always been my gym, and since the construction work began approximately two weeks ago, I have encountered numerous issues. Upon my return, I was informed that I do not belong there and was required to spend 30 minutes transferring my account. Despite being a member, I had to waste my time.
A few minutes ago, as I was walking in to work out, I was once again approached and taken out of my time for 40 minutes. They informed me that my husband’s name was under my account and it doesn’t work that way. After some confusion, they realized that it was my account my husband card is on it and then stated that it was not my fault. They questioned me repeatedly about the matter, which were clearly addressed in the system. All I wanted to do was work out and return home. Why waste my time?? I’ve been a member of this gym since 2020 my husband is paying for this gym for years and this is what I get ?? I’m very unhappy with how y’all go about this and I will cancel my membership and never return I’m so sick of that man with all them tattoos behavior and how he spoke to me when it’s clear that I didn’t do nothing wrong !

Por el cual asistimos mucho clientes frecuentes al de Belleville y notamos la diferencias muy claras en la limpieza ese gym de Belleville está muy limpio vimos que hay empleados solo para las limpieza el cual deberían implementar en East Orange además que lo empleados son muy atentos en East Orange abrieron 10/17/2025 y las máquinas aún tenían polvo de la construcción y el polvo y sucio sigue allí. No debieron a abrir así como estaba por lo único que sigo asistiendo es que está cerca de mi casa y por su entrenador Cristopher que es profesional.

The gym was good like an average planet fitness but definitely a lot of people there the crowd was pretty intense and with the new revamp of planet fitness there were no new equipment there in East Orange which I was pretty sad about there's no squat machine you'd have to use the Smith machine but all of it or filled up but either or had a great workout definitely excited to see the new revamp that comes up in the future.

Way too hot and overcrowded/ no air conditioning. Unfortunately that summer pass really ratchets up this gym and makes it an unsanitary environment for paying members. Its already in the hood so even worse making it a free for all. kids are allowed to come in for free for the summer promotion, but paying members still have to deal with the rudeness/kids playing on the machines . It is not worth the annual fee. They do not turn on any air conditioner in a gym that people are paying to use as well. Manager is RUDE and tried to say i didn’t check in when i was clearly sweaty and ending my workout . Anything getto i stay away from.

Old Review⬇️ (2 years ago) I’ve been a member since they opened and never had a complaint until today! ..When I observed the paid members of Planet Fitness being mistreated and mishandled upon check in; plus verbally attacked by a young female staff member on board who was out of line and out of control! Disrespecting everyone entering the gym who simply came to work-out! Absolutely no supervision. She was Harsh, impatient, insulting and name calling! There was an Hispanic family who didn’t speak fluent English who was interested in joining who she utterly disrespected and didn’t take her time with and was offensive. She displayed anger, extremely poor communication skills! A loose cannon!!! Her behavior was unjustifiable! She’s bad for business and shouldn’t be dealing with any of the members period!

To the Management-
The gym is clean, staffs are nice, equipments are decent.

I got one complain- Since the number of bench press machines are limited, there should be a rule against equipment hopping while blocking both equipments.

People put down their phones/bottles on the bench press machines and do other workouts on other machines which is very frustrations because some of us have to stand for 30 min or more untill they are done with all the workouts and then take their stuff off the bench press machine. Please make periodic announcements against this or post guidelines. Thank you!

Machines are always broke and when they get fixed, never properly. And I don't understand why their system is always down and you gotta sign in on paper and provide your number. I mean I get it, you need to keep track but it's not private by a long shot. I turn around and walk out bc it's too hot for this nonsense. I have to say, it's great to have a planet fitness in East Orange. Of all places. Right? it kinda had me wondering, why this location, An old Plaza that only had a laundry and an oil change, there. plus not much foot traffic at this area. but hey, i'm sure they know what they are doing, once going through the door its really huge. everything is there.staff is nice, clean restrooms. my only con, is that the spray bottles need better locations through out the gym. After a use of a machine I would have to walk a Bit find one... would be heading back. An update! Please workin the air quality with the gym is very busy! It's almost unbearable.

The Machines they have are pretty good. they keep them wiped down and sanitized... however the rule to wipe all your sweat off is not enforced... also ... please staff... NOBODY should be able to use 3 Machines at one time ..while others stand around and wait.... also KEEP THE FREE WEIGHTS IN THE PROPER PLACE .. thats NOT SAFE.. PUT THEM AWAY .. if I get hurt it's not going to be ok for you guys ..I like the fact that this place is centrally located so its very convenient to get to right after work .. showers are very clean, staff are very friendly.. Just enforce the rules..they are there for a reason. I hope to be able to keep my membership here instead of going to one closer to home this one is closer to work .. I am genuinely confused. I'm a member and have been for a while. I come here and get done what I need to get done. I don't need to interact with the staff members extensively. It's a quick "in-and-out" experience for me.

But tonight, I brought my friend with me, and she was interested in signing up for PF at this location. But first, she wanted to see what kind of equipment they have. A simple tour. Shouldn't be too difficult, right? Nope. You have to register JUST TO LOOK AROUND. Even if they know you're just here for a quick 1-2 minute walk around.

I don't need to be reminded that this is protocol. I get it, rules are rules. I just think that this is a very stupid rule. It's very anti-customer and needs to be changed ASAP. Imagine coming here, wanting a warm and welcoming experience, wanting to be treated fairly and taken seriously in the sense that you're a grown person who already deals with a lot of the bull you get thrown at you throughout the day, and all you want to do is have a look around a place you're already expressing interest in joining. And instead of encouraging your enthusiasm and assisting you in your curiosity as a POTENTIAL CUSTOMER, they're like "you have to register first." You have to buy the house before you can even see the rooms. How ridiculous.

They really do offer a CHEAP experience, because you could go to any other mainstream gym and the employees know how to speak amicably. They know how to be accommodating. And they know how to smile. But here? You get attitudes, you get employees who are extra, and you get to feel like you're just a number walking through the door rather than a valued customer. It's shameful and y'all need to do better. Why don't I go somewhere else? I shouldn't have to! This is my community gym! But look how they're treating the community 🤦🏾‍♂️ they don't care about us.

One of the worse locations I’ve visited over the years. Had to wait for about 5 minutes for hot water in the shower, and even then the stream was weak. The main larger bathroom didn’t even work (was closed when I was there), so that means the men’s section had only ONE working toilet cabin working at a time, which is unbelievable considering the large crowd they have.
There’s no comparison to Paramus club or any other club in Bergen county (as an example)

Friendly environment to aim for whatever goal you have set for yourself. Welcoming staff at the door. Pleasantries welcome. Adequate equipment preventing long wait times. I love the mini lick boxes next to the counter for small personal items, wallets, keys, or phones. That would be a nice option at all locations in case you dont have a personal lock to secure your items in the locker rooms. Today, I exploited the massage chair 3x's after a hard workout. I use to love coming to this location because of the open 24/7 hours they offered, and it allowed me to get my full workouts in.
Now with the hours being cut, it’s just getting too crowded. Can barely use the weights or smith machines or any other machine really, because the ones up by the mirrors are always being hogged up by others. They are indeed clean, however when a machine breaks, they take foreverrrrrr to fix it or replace it. Please go back to 24/7. Do not join planet fitness, they are a scam and money trap. You can’t cancel a membership online or over the phone like any other regular business.

Then if you don’t pay, instead of just canceling the membership like any other regular business would. They just keep charging you, and will add it to your past due balance.

Then when you do try and cancel, they won’t stop your membership until you payoff the past due balance.

And will continue to charge you despite your cancellation request. Also, the late is the price as the monthly membership. DO NOT JOIN PLANET FITNESS.

Nothing ever works effectively at this location. I transferred from the Morris Plains location and it has been all down hill. First the tablets didn't work, so it took the staff worker over a hour to simply transfer me. You would consider that small if your time means nothing to you. Just something up to date. The location has new message chairs that apparently only the staff "managers" can use. The chairs have been on site over a week, but not set up for customer use. The manager can be the only one to put in some code that allows the customer 5, yes 5 minutes to use. I have been told daily that these chairs would be able to use each day since they arrived. "Remember, we're talking East Orange" location. I have to say this, "the East Orange location is pitiful compared to locations outside of inner-city. It's a reason for this, NO ONE ADDS REVIEWS, NO ONE COMPLAINS, AND THE CUSTOMER FORGETS, WE PAY FOR A SERVICE (a service that is not provided) at the East Orange location. It's 😔 sad but so. A closed mouth won't get fed. Period! I gave 2 stars because of the relentless help that a fairly new staff member (Erica) gave me in finding out what was actually happening with the message chairs. She went as far as reaching out to a manager via mobile. Of course the "manager" was of no assistance and stated once again that the managers are the only staff with this "code." Thank you again Erica, you were great and I truly appreciate your help.

Buenas muy buen gimnasio pero mal olor no era asi la Agua del filter sabía rara caliente los desinfectante de mano algunos vacíos los empleados no le importa nada solo estar en su Mundo ustedes los dueños cuiden sus negocios porque por empleados irresponsable no estar pendientes si nesecitan cambiar algunas maquina dañada los filtros de agua pueden perder cliente más higiene visite ese gimnasio porque sta donde mi hermana pero apesta disculpe por ser conserva si fuera manager de estuviera siempre pendiente de lo qie le haga falta mi donde trabajo lo digo porque trabaja aunque no era un gimnasio pni de manager pero me aseguraba que todo estuviera limpio y organizado .

Someone else asked these questions, but the responder failed to actually answer any of them. (1) how long will renovations last? (2) which club should members go to if they only have the basic membership? and (3) if basic membership members cannot go to another location to workout, when will Planet Fitness stop charging customers since facility is unable to be used?

Why do they have to shut down half the treadmills every other morning to clean under them while people are trying to use them. Yall aren't open 24 hours. That can't be done before or after hours?
