Dear Planet Fitness Management,

I am writing to report rude behavior of the manger at this location at **561 U.S. Rte 1, Edison, NJ 08817**.

I visited **four Planet Fitness locations** and also called **before the due date** to cancel my membership. I physically went to the Edison location, and the **same staff member who is on shift today** confirmed that my cancellation was fully completed. Your camera footage is proofread of it .

He has behaved rude and has not been transparent .

If there is a difference between and employee and manager than if concerns are reported he either has to be transparent or escalate to hierarchy.

He can not deceive and immediate honesty and transparency of conversation is required to be addressed .

Iam.also reporting to headquarters at new hampshire .

Garbage establishment recently after a year of going to this gym in my regular attire overnight they’ve decided to implement new policies that were never enforced to begin with all the day time members are truly abysmal and hard to communicate with the management doesn’t keep up with their policies properly so don’t go here don’t waste your time one day you’re good the next day you can’t come in because your shoes don’t fit what they want YOU to wear

I honestly joined this gym because I thought it was 24 hours , The gym was supposed to close at 12 on a Sunday. I was calling 45 minutes before closing just to verify because the week prior they said they were closing at 12 but one of the employees said that they were going to be open all night so I called to verify numerous times. No one answered, but when I pulled up, the gym was open no employees to answer the phone.

Im so upset this establishment is closing early again. All these Planet Fitness locations boast about 24hours then they turn and close early on the weekends. 24 hours is the reason I got the membership in the first place. Please change this because some of us need those late sessions because of our work schedules. Then to make things worse Google still says this establishment is 24 hours. I traveled here last week to find them closed with no explanation on the door just all the lights out… SMDH ! I have good mind to cancel and go the UFC gym in Woodbridge at least they are 24hours.

Planet Fitness is a great gym overall. My only issue is with some members not respecting gym etiquette. For example, standing right in front of someone and staring at them while they’re on a machine. It would be great if staff could remind members to either wait their turn politely or ask to work in, instead of making others feel uncomfortable

if I could put 0 stars I would do it. me and my brother came here and on Google maps it said open 24 hours with the green text, well in the exact same moment we arrived the guy who was working closed it (obviously it's not the guy's fault). Arrived at the Edison Planet Fitness at around 2am to get a workout in, and it was lights out with a sign on the door "Closed at 10pm". Not sure if this is just a temporary thing (maybe no one able to do that shift or someone had to leave early?). If not, please update your Google location with the new closing times or add a note to the sign to either explain or apologize for the early closing. Personally, I would have preferred that you updated your Google location information. I wouldn't have wasted my time driving there.

I'll update my review when I actually can get in to work out.

This location is tiny. The gym is full of people chatting and sitting at the machines for 30+ minutes while there's actual people here who want to work out. 4 benches in the front just doesn’t cut it for a club with this many members. The lack of machines is getting out of hand. Additionally, the gym is now suddenly closed for “renovations.” You can’t just close a gym for a week without any prior warning . I’d recommend switching to a different location or spending the same amount of money on Crunch fitness where you get a thousand times more for the same amount of money.

Don't join! lots of tricks to make it hard to quit! i tried to quit when I was out of town. I was told I have to quit at home club. No way to quit in the app that I could find. perhaps its really hidden from members. quit at home club is difficult for those who are on the road a lot and using other locations. also if you try and quit after the 10th of the month I am told the contract says you have to pay for the month anyway. you have to put a stop payment on with your bank to avoid this thievery. I strongly recommend you find another gym. This company does not value members and has unfair and bad business practices. Read the contract if you are desperate for a gym and your options limited. I am glad to spread the word about how badly planet fitness treats their members.

Im a trucker so I travel all around and go to planet fitness. This one is awkward looking lol. Small place but alot of people. The women's locker room didn't have a private dressing room which makes it uncomfortable to get naked in front of strangers. I used the handicap shower due to my health and the drain was clogged so the water was higher than it should be. This supposed to be a 24 hr gym but they close early on Saturday and Sunday. I wouldn't recommend this place out of all the planet fitness ive been to. Im glad it's not my home gym

I gave 3 stars for a reason.

❌ The Negatives:
• Pierre (8/1/2025 around 12 pm) had an attitude and was unhelpful — not what you expect from customer service.
• The gym was closed at 10 pm on 8/2/2025, even though it’s clearly advertised as 24/7. That was frustrating and disappointing.
• The shower wasn’t draining, and I had to switch to another one just to rinse off my feet.
• One of the massage chairs in the Black Card room was broken.

✅ The Positives:
• Phill (8/1/2025 at 10:40 am) was excellent — super helpful, respectful, and really easy to deal with. He deserves a promotion.
• The tall, skinny Black staff member working around 1 am was also great. He let me use the hydro massage bed since one chair was broken and the other was in use.

📝 Summary:
• Phill (10:40 am): 10/10
• Pierre (12 pm): 3/10
• 1 am staff: 10/10
• Amenities: 7/10 (shower + massage chair issues)
• 8/2/2025: Gym unexpectedly closed at 10 pm — not acceptable for a “24/7” gym

I’m open to revisiting this review and giving a higher rating if improvements are made. Thanks to Phill and the 1 am staff. Pierre — please work on your customer service.

They decided to change their 24/7 hours suddenly, without notice and without even updating their hours online. So when I showed up on a Friday night they tell me they are closing in 5 minutes and "they just decided to close at 10pm now on Friday and Saturday". What terrible customer service! How about first communicating with your customers before making a drastic change to your hours?! Honestly this gym has gone down the drain recently anyway. It's become overly crowded, hot, and a lot of broken equipment. 1 star is accurate.

Let’s be blunt here, the men’s showers smell terrible and have black mold, dirty tile grout, as well as soap scum and residue and the one I used didn’t even have a showerhead. Please scrub clean with bleach and pressure wash or something because some people want to take a shower before work at this wonderful location but not in filth please.

i have been a member of this gym for 8 years, and today I experienced racism from another member who I believe is friends with Manager Ricky. I arrived around 9:10 PM and saw a man in a grey outfit—sweatpants, a hoodie, wet outfit and a red beanie—casually chatting with Ricky, As I checked in, the man stared at me and said, “Look, Chinese.” I told him I was Korean, and he randomly mentioned having a Chinese wife. As I walked away, he said out loud, “He doesn’t speak English,” to which I replied, “That’s not true!”

While working out, the man approached me, and though I couldn’t hear him due to my music, he invaded my personal space, making me uncomfortable. I reported the situation to Manager Ricky, who dismissed my comments and claimed the man didn’t say anything inappropriate. Although he apologized for my feelings, he seemed hesitant to take any action, insisting that was not what happened. When I asked if he should intervene since he is the manager, he simply stated, “He’s also a member,” implying a refusal to act due to their friendship.

Having been a member for about eight years, I’ve never faced this issue until today. I am disappointed with Manager Ricky’s gaslighting and his handling of the situation. He suggested i come back the next day to speak with “betty” and kept stated i was the one who misheard the comments, this isnt okay.

I was disappointed with this people. I was going through a financial difficulty, and I've tried to resolve the late payments but they are not willing to help. Very inconsiderate individuals. I will change this 1 Star rating when someone helps me with this situation. I finally was able to speak to the manager after several attempts, and spoke to her about my issue. She stated she needed to speak to her upper management. Finally I was able to wave some of the late fees and I was able to get my account in good standing. So as promised I am changing my 1 star to 4.

I’ve been to a lot of Planet Fitness locations in the area. My usual gym is the one in Vauxhall, New Jersey. I’ve also gone to the ones in Irvington and Linden. Out of all of them, Linden has been my favorite so far.

But this Edison location? It’s hands down the worst one I’ve been to.

The only reason I came here was because it’s open 24 hours, which I needed at the time. But right away, the setup of the gym felt random and poorly thought out. It’s a big gym, but there were only four StairMaster machines total, which doesn’t make sense for the size of the space.

The worst part, though, was the locker room. It was disgusting. The smell hit me the moment I walked in. It was by far the dirtiest locker room I’ve ever seen at any Planet Fitness. I was honestly shocked. Even though Planet Fitness is a budget-friendly gym, I’ve always seen them keep their locations relatively clean. But this one was completely different. The condition of the locker room alone is enough to keep me from ever coming back.

And on top of all that, while my wife and I were working out, there was a man just walking around the gym wearing a black coat and jeans. He clearly wasn’t working out or using any equipment. It was really strange. We started looking around for staff to let them know, but no one was at the front desk. Actually, we didn’t see a single staff member until after the man had already left.

It made us both uncomfortable, and it didn’t feel like anyone was keeping track of who was coming in or out of the gym. It didn’t seem like the man had checked in at all. He just wandered around and then walked right out.

I won’t be returning to this location. And if this is your local gym, I feel for you. There are definitely better Planet Fitness options nearby.

I used to come to this gym before switching to a more expensive gym with a pool, sauna, steam room, basketball etc…, Now they changed their prices to more than $30 for a black card membership??? All that thing offers you is a tanning bed, and a massager chair. Now way people are paying $30 for an economy gym, when they don’t even have a sauna or a pool?!?!

You basically get what you pay for, and even at $10.00 a month, you are being overcharged! I have never been in the gym when at least one of the machines was not working. They are also the Kings of collecting "late fees" even when not warranted. I've been going back and forth with the bank--Planet Fitness and their billing department ABC Solutions for months trying to get the situation straight. I was basically a ping pong ball bounced back and forth--particularly between Planet Fitness and their billing department, ABC Solutions. Kira, the manager at Planet Fitness pretty much washed her hands of the situation. When I said then I would cancel she gave half hearted, condescending answers. She could not have cared less. Bottom line---these people are crooks and liars. Stay as far away from them as possible, because when the time comes when you have a billing problem or you need to cancel, (and you will) they will give you the classic run around. They could not care less about their customers. There are plenty of other cleaner, more efficient gyms in the area. I will (gladly) never set foot in Planet Fitness again, and I suggest you do the same!

Water fountains are the old style and it takes 10 minutes to fill a shaker bottle halfway and can’t fill it fully because you have to tilt it. Drinks cooler is locked at all times so I have to wait 10 minutes at the counter for the one guy they have to get off of the phone to unlock it for me.

Five stars for the billion treadmills and steppers available. Place gets crowded with high school kids. They need air purifiers. Very suffocating. Got me and my family sick on the very first day, something like flu. Buy air purifiers or provide more ventilation, drive the sweat and smells out.

Join this gym about 1.5 months ago. I like it. Super clean, machines all work. There’s always paper towels and liquid to clean off the machines. Person behind desk at 3.45am is pretty friendly. I have been a member here for many years, but nothing terrible happened until today. I went to the gym at about 9 p.m. and put everything in the locker. I swear I locked the locker. I used the machine and never returned to the locker until 11 p.m. when I finished everything. I entered the locker and found out the lock was missing. Someone had broken into it. The first thing I thought was that I had forgotten to lock it. I immediately checked my belongings and found my cash was missing, and my credit cards, wallet, and SSN were still in the back. I asked the receptionist about the camera footage, but they didn't have it in the locker room. I understand it is hard to catch it. Because people walk in and out all the time. But my point is that I don't want to happen again in the future with anyone. The members and staff of this club are nice and friendly. So, I warn you to be careful when putting something valuable inside the locker.

I currently live in Las Vegas, Nevada and somehow there was a duplicate account that was generated in the state of New Jersey. I have never lived in the state of New Jersey or the East Coast for that matter. when I called to get the duplicate account canceled because I've never used it. They told me that they couldn't cancel it, and there was a remaining balance. I tried to explain to them that I never have lived in the state of New Jersey and this was a mistake and should be canceled. They told me it cannot be canceled, are you serious? You clearly see that there's a duplicate account and one should be canceled, but they refuse to do so. I even had my local club try and attempt to cancel it with the club in New Jersey and she too also got the runaround stating there's nothing that they can do. This makes me want to cancel my entire membership
with planet fitness due to the unprofessionalism and the runaround that this has caused.

This place is so small. There's never an open machine for anything and if there is you better run to it. They either need to relocate or only let a certain amount of people in. The only reason I'd go is because it's 24/7.

I have been a member of PF in Edison since November 2016 and upgraded to a Black Card membership about 4 years ago. I've never had an issue at the facility or with the employees. Alvin at the front desk is nice and always greets me by name. Excellent customer service!
