This particular location, Fairfield NJ, appears well run and clean. However, recently they ended Hand Sanitizer stations. One real complaint; many people sit on equipment doing little but texting. They should have large signs asking folks who want to use their phones to do so on benches and not occupy the machines.

As someone who came from the Bronx to workout here I am highly impressed Planet Fitness is honestly one of the best gyms I’ve ever joined. The facility is always spotless — from the workout areas to the locker rooms, everything is well-maintained and organized. You can tell the staff takes pride in keeping the gym clean and comfortable for everyone.

The atmosphere is really enjoyable and welcoming. There’s no pressure or judgment, just people of all fitness levels doing their best and supporting one another. The equipment is always in great condition, and there’s plenty of space to work out without feeling crowded.

The employees here deserve a special shoutout — they’re always friendly, professional, and ready to help with anything you need. Whether it’s a quick question about a machine or just a warm welcome when you walk in, they truly make the experience even better.

Overall, I’m really happy to be a member here. Planet Fitness has created a positive environment that makes working out something to actually look forward to. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a clean, enjoyable, and supportive gym!

Hi everyone,

Even after making a review which prompted the owner to call me, the patron access to quality disinfectants in the gym at the Fair View NJ location is still not adequate; it’s concerning.

This is a gym: we smell, we sweat, and we touch common surfaces. Why did the owners remove the Purell dispensers? Why can’t the disinfectants at their “cleaning stations” list common chemicals so we know the machines we clean are being properly sterilized?

One employee told me that the owner is “cheap” and “constantly cuts corners”. Makes sense to me - other planet fitness locations have Purell stations and quality disinfectants listed on their bottles. Why can’t this one?

My original review still stands: the owners of this Planet Fitness (Fair View NJ) obviously focus on their bottom line; they don’t care about quality. Why can’t we have an affordable gym with quality disinfectants? Isn’t that’s what the core of Planet’s mission is about: access for all?

I would stand corrected if we see the immediate addition of:
1) Purell / hand sanitizer stations re-installed dispersed adequately across the gym (they took them down!).
2) disinfectants listed on the cleaning bottles (showing it’s not just soapy water).
3) paper towel dispensers so we aren’t all touching the same roll while we attempt to rip sheets off.
4) a cleaning schedule showing machine cleanliness by a staff member.

I appreciate the staff members I’ve spoken to. They are polite and understand the issue; unfortunately they can’t help. As a concerned member I will be calling the better business borough of NJ and Planet Fitness corp. to assist.

So far so good though too many fox channels showing ,wonder who chooses the channels to be shown there.
Most of the people working here are attentive, but sick of so much fox crap on the tvs. Seems that the owner is only interested in writing automatic responses on the comments rather than turning down the 100000 fox channels showing daily.

Clean Planet fitness. Plenty of machines. It’s in a weird space though. We got a weird vibe from everyone in the gym, that has nothing to do with the business itself, just be aware.
When we checked in my boss told the front desk girl that his daughter works at planet and when we walked away she laughed with her coworkers at him saying that. I know they were because when I turned around she stopped and covered her mouth. Then I turned around again she started laughing again. Not professional. I get they are children working there but what happened to judgement free… really upsetting.

Planet Fitness is a great option if you’re looking for an affordable and accessible gym. The equipment is well-maintained, there’s a wide range of cardio and strength machines, and the staff is generally friendly. Not sure of the quality of the negative reviews about this location. Hands down the cleanest gym I’ve ever been to — and I’ve been to at least 8 different Planet Fitness locations. This one stands out. The place is spotless no matter what time you go. Equipment, floors, locker rooms — everything is consistently well-maintained. Big shoutout to the staff too. They’re always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seem happy to be there. It makes a huge difference when people are smiling and treat you like they actually care. Great vibes all around! I agree with some comments from others about Fox News being pumped in. I mean it’s a little much and we shouldn’t be inundated with the propaganda that Fox and CNN gives us.

I go to the gym to workout and not be blasted with endless 24 hour news. It is truly distracting to the point that it takes away from the fun of working out. Stay away from this location, I went to Fairfield planet fitness today to ask them if they can remove my late fee of $10 because my card was hacked and I got a new card. The girl name Gorniette was rude and disrespectful. The Manager Brie is lovely professional and went above and beyond for me when I had surgery and needed to freeze my membership. The policy the company has I don't agree with and I could not produce the ridiculous Proof they require to freeze a membership for medical reasons. It's a gym like why do I need to prove myself?! They make it so hard. But this woman Brie she was calm even though I was enraged and on pain medication but she was polite, kind and helpful!!! She calmed me down and even followed up with me. She fought for me to not have to pay the couple of moths that I couldn't get there to exercise and I truly appreciate her calling me back and following up with me. I didn't expect that. I think she deserves recognition for a job well done. I would have canceled otherwise all together but her service saved my business and also made my day. Thank you Brie !! They are lucky to have you there showing true care for my patronage. Job well done. Thats how you run a business. Corporate doesn't get it. But the people who are there day to day seeing their members they do get it. Service matters. I am grateful. Thanks again because most people these days just say anything and do absolutely nothing. This Planet Fitness is better than some of the others I have experienced. However, the management at this location has instituted some of the weirdest and most out of line rules I have ever heard of in all of my years going to gyms and they don't put up any signs telling pepole about it. This is the only gym I have ever been to that shuts down their showers at 9 p.m., 1 hour before the gym closes during the week, and also has a no shaving rule with no signage telling members this. You'll just be confronted by a random employee telling you this as you are doing it. Mangement is unhelpful and defends it, and has a bs excuse to tell. What's next, you'll stop people from storing stuff in lockers, or maybe you'll stop members from using the sinks at all. This gym has evil management clearly, and I canceled my membership for a reason. Hope this gym looses all their members, and the only reason this review gets 2 stars is because the equipment works.

In Fairfield,, NJ, they recently moved all the equipment all around and removed the stretching cage which was very important for me before I started to lift. I cannot get any answers whether they intend to replace it nor will they give me the name of anybody to talk to. In addition the accounting practices are a little on the weak side. Be careful how your charges are managed. Again, here I cannot get any answers.

I love this location! It’s my therapy when I need a calm relaxing gym where I can be fluid. My only issue is the weights of the med balls. They only have 4lbs 😞. Hopefully that changes soon until then I have to go to another location to make progress with my medball workout.

Generally i love planet Fitness , am a black card member since long time so i visited different locations and never had a problem , BUT in this location was one of my worst experiences ever , the stuff are surprisingly rude and not professional at all , if they know some of their clients they wont mind them keeping their bags on the floor , their hoodies on the benches , jackets on the treadmill , but if they dont know you they will come to talk to you about the same thing like 3 times in the same minute while they will act blind if they saw the same thing just with the next client behind you because they know them , one more thing , i am paying for a black card to use my benefits , the machines inside the gym for the recovery ( massage chairs , massage lounges ..etc ) are mostly not working, one chair is working the other is not ,one bed is fine the other is not! so you have to wait more time if one of the lounges or chairs are being used . Very very bad experience !

I normally like this gym very much. However, the manager embarrassed me in front of a new prospect. She told me that I couldn’t skip in the lounge hallway. Mind you, I’ve done this more than 10 times and no one said it wasn’t allowed. None of the workers! The gym was so busy btw. It’s how she (a black girl) put me (a black girl) who is a black member down just to look good to her prospect that May or May not join the gym for me. Literally put my spirit down and ruined my experience with the gym. Now I am gonna go and find a different closer location and hope that I like it as much. Need a lesson in customer service. I am a long time member of the Pompton Lakes Planet Fitness. For the last 6 weeks they have been remodeling so they point you to any other planet fitness - their exact email - But don't worry, we've got your back! Nice place. Friendly staff. They keep it clean and have lots of spray/paper towel for you to wipe down the machines after use. I’m always able to get on a cardio machine. Never have to wait as there are tons.
Clientele are all normal. Friendly even. No one hogs machines or makes you feel uncomfortable.
Only bummer is I can never get my Apple Watch to connect to any of the cardio machines which is a wonderful feature if it actually worked!

It is long overdue that management Re-train their entire team working at the front desk. Teens go free for the summer should be change to teens get free harassment for the summer. Both of my kids and their friends are interrogated by staff every-time they try to entered. Everyday it seems to be a different issue.
Also BTW they are back to pre covid ridiculous rule that cant scan yourself in like EVERY other gym in US. I have sent emails, visited in person to cancel, sent cancelation letters, made phone calls to the location, emailed and spoken with their customer care division and ABC Fitness Solutions, LLC., which is the parent company, and everything in between. After my last phone call in May to the location, they confirmed that my membership was canceled. They wanted me to come back in, but I had to force them to understand that I had moved more than 1,000 away from NJ and could not just come in. It took years and more hours than you can imagine, but they did confirm it was canceled, but it seems like they just said that to get me off the phone as they are still charging me the monthly fee of $23.54 and have been since I tried to cancel in November of 2020. That's $517.88 they have taken from me after my "cancellation" request. Not sure where to go from here other than to seek legal advice. Or reach out to news media to expose these people. If anyone knows of a good lawyer familiar with crooks like these, please let me know.

Very unhappy with daytime unqualified manager. (10.4) Attempted to use sunbed, was told the system doesn’t respond, and she is unable to troubleshoot. So I said nicely to work on it and I’ll have a workout in the meantime. What kind of gym doesn’t allow you to jump rope? Planet fitness at Fairfield!!! Planet fitness is VERY affordable, but sometimes what you pay for, is what you get.
Is an overcrowded gym, full of teenagers (they come for free during the summer)… the equipment in this particular location is decent, the stretching room is extremely small, the staff is average.
Planet fitness has some very interesting rules, such as no outside equipment, that includes jump rope…
Also, PF has a dress code, no crop tops, no tank tops… according to them is “gymtimidation”. Here at Fairfield location the dress code is practically nonexistent, which is great! People should be able to wear whatever they feel comfortable in! So really, why in the world are we caring so much about a jump rope?

Time to look for another gym. If you read this far, I heard CRUNCH fitness is a great choice.

It is nice and clean. The staff greets every morning and it is never packed so I feel safe working out here.

I’ve been a member for over 3yrs and never experience any issues . The place is cleaned daily and I know because I’ve seen the employees cleaning at all times and with the pandemic it’s certainly a peace of mind . The employees are respectful, knowledgeable and ready to help if needed. Especially Shaday very nice young lady always ready to assist.

Attempted to sign up this evening for a membership. Was lured to the $10 a month with no commitment. Seemed like a great deal. Was disappointed they required my banking information for the annual fee and that was the only option if I wanted to join. With no other alternative provided to me, I walked out. I'm protective of my personal banking records and not sure why this is required to join the gym..

I broke both my ankles at the end of November. I called to cancel my membership since I will not be able to walk for the next several months let alone go to the gym. They gave me an issue because i didn’t call before the 10th to cancel. I was in the hospital sorry i didn't think so call right away! The manager “Sade” told me she couldn’t do a refund because she doesn't have access.. she gave me some guys number named greg who I then called and he said he doesn't even know how i got his number bc he is not in charged of the FF location… I let it it go.. took the L and made sure i wont be getting charged again.. they emailed me a confirmation that i will not be getting charged. i looked at my bank account AND I WAS CHARGED AGAIN!Im not to sure what is so hard about canceling a membership due to medical issue with unforeseen circumstances

Unclear masking policy and inconsistent signage regarding distancing. Had a staff member tell me it is because “covid is over” today. This is coupled with male staff who openly objectify and stare at members as they walk by. Very disappointed given how lovely this location was in the past.

This is my favorite Planet Fitness gym. I live about 40 mins away but happily drove to this one when I was a member. Now that covid is pretty much over, I want to rejoin and will join this gym specifically. Well worth the drive, great gym and staff.

After months of giving me the run around, I finally received a refund for my monthly dues I was charged when they were closed for the pandemic. These crooks were so against returning the money they stole from me that they actually banned me for life - like I would ever want to rejoin after what they put me through. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!

This gym is particularly excellent. What makes it so is the staff. From management on down, everyone makes you feel welcome and looks to lift you up. The positivity makes going to the gym my favorite part of the day.

Dorian, the manager, knows how to run a proper planet fitness. I drive 10 minutes out of my way to specifically go to this gym because I know that I'm going to get a good workout in a clean, safe, less crowded gym. Dorian is always nice and leads his team by example. The Planet Fitness in Fairfield is by far one of my favorite gyms in North Jersey.
