The black woman is very disrespectful and rude. She constantly interrupts workouts and is risking herself and the people working out of harm for getting in the way. She calls out problems that realistically are not even problems as other members have been okay with the way I do things. It feels like a personal attack each time or there’s something going on with her personal life but I recommend that she is let go and she can get a job when she has a better mentality. The moto is judgment free zone but it doesn’t come like that. To protect your brand I highly suggest better training and more in depth checks on your staff thank you

Horrible I’ve been trying to deal with a billing issue for a few months now and it still hasn’t been resolved i’ve contact the corporate office, but there’s not much they can do since it’s personally on Farah Is extremely horrible and unprofessional. One of the staff was rude. I purchased a membership for my mom at the wrong planet fitness instead of this one at South amboy, that I am a member. And the black staff lady on her shift today September 10 at 1: 40 treated us with a bad attitude. I don't know what was wrong with her and it is not my business, but I don't expect to pay for a membership to be disrespected and be talked too with bad attitude. First time going to this gym and was quite impressed with the tanning bed and a little disappointed that they didn't have the total body enhancement at this location. The only issue I had is the shower never really got warmer hot even though it was on for about 15 to 20 minutes . Bree and Tyreek and another employee were very kind they said that they were the forgotten gym which made me feel sad so this is a little gem and very clean very very clean. Plus I loved in the women's bathroom the setup of the showers completely on the other side of the wall from the bathrooms and from anybody just walking back there and being able to look in the shower. Also the drainage from the handicap shower was not going in the drain it was going almost into the stall to change.. but overall one of the cleanest nicest gyms I've been to since I've been journey through planet fitness left and right all over Jersey.

Their credit card machine is a scam. I buy water all the time and it always shows approved on the keypad screen. But sometimes it prints the receipt, and sometimes it doesn’t. Most of the employees knows about it, but some of them goes. Oh, I did not print the receipt so I didn’t go through. Well, it said it was approved and I showed them my car transaction which says a dollar was taken out by planet fitness. Despite showing the proof employee named Joseph charge me another time give me a water. It’s about a dollar it’s about fixing the thing and also teaching them employees to be nice and humble because this is my home. Jim and I go there almost every other day. I always buy two bottles of water every single time I go there. But this guy, Joseph was very hardheaded. Please fix her credit card machine and teach employees to be respectful.

One of the worst gyms in the area. Just recently went to workout at PF in south amboy. Upon entering we had to do a sign in sheet that would display sensitive information such as a birthday to other guests. Then upon reaching to set the weight in the shoulder pull downs machine. The bar suddenly falls and hits me directing on top of the head. I instantly get up to go to the front desk and explain my pain and that their machine was broken. Upon showing the manager the machine she said the wire was clearly not setup properly and fell appropriately. The manager mentioned the only way I could report this incident to PF is to go get medical attention from my nearest hospital or urgent care. She then mentioned I would have to go to court and get a lawyer. This an aggressive way to approach a member about the safety of your equipment. A slight bum on the head. Reporting safety incidents at PF should not be this difficult on site.

This gym has constant WiFi issues and management couldn’t care less for PF card members safety. I will no longer visit this location as a black card member of PF. This facility should get 0 stars. Along the enterace window by the dollar store the windows have water damage dating back all the way to February 2024 The floor mats have numerous hazard spots on the floor to possibly trip. The care for their members safety seems to be lacking in south amboy PF.

Called the manager of the South Amboy location, they had just “stepped” out for a moment and I was asked if I could be called right back…fast forward to almost a week later and still no call back. If there’s one thing I can’t stand it is people who are unprofessional. So to the manager on duty 8/31 @2:47pm do better.

Update - After I cancelled my membership within 60 days after only working out at this gym once they tried to charge an annual fee and an additional month (Sept), cancelled the membership in person a few days before the end of August. I called a couple times and sent emails and they never responded. So if you go here just pay attention to your billing. Left numerous messages for the manager to call me back, they were never available of course, and she never did. Extremely unprofessional manager at this location at the time of this issue.

I was going to this gym for a few months. After an injury I came in person to cancel my membership on 6/23/2023. An associate told me my membership has been cancelled and I left. On 10/20 I realized they never cancelled it. I called and they told me to come in and cancel it again and I would hear from a manager next week to get a refund. I went in and cancelled it in person again. The associate at the desk that time told me they have had a few of these same issues recently.
The next week I never heard from the manager I had to call and ask to speak to one. The manager was rude and told me that I cancelled on 10/20 and there was nothing she could do. When I brought up that the other associate from a few days ago said this has happened recently she immediately said that nothing like this has ever happened before. She said her employees are trained and don't make mistakes so i must have never come in and cancelled it. She said she is going to push it up to the district manager and they are going to ask me for the cancellation date and I'm going to tell them 10/20, and they aren't going to do anything about it.
Completely unprofessional and rude not listening to me try to talk and blamed me for the mistake that her employee made.

I filed a dispute case with me bank. I will update the post if I hear any other information from planet fitness. In the meantime avoid this location at all costs

Great gym in a convenient spot with nice perks. Most of the people working there are pretty friendly. I find it's best to get there when it isn't too busy and you can check the busy times on Google Maps or PF app.

Lynn has great customer service and wonderful to talk to in the mornings. Sad to find out she no longer works there.

Black card: A great bargain if you get the black card membership. For this price I got more benefits than when I went to Retro Fitness. One of the main reasons I got the black card is so that I can use the hydromassage. I noticed when I use that right after my workout, I don't get as painfully sore as I used to. The black card may also include tanning, massage chairs, and training.

Problems when it's busy: It can start feeling like a bar as some people get a bit rowdy when they are with their friends. People are also more likely to be video recording during this times, and that can feel invasive since I prefer not to be in the background. Unfortunately, it's not against the law or policy to do this. It can also get humid and funky when there's too many sweaty people. This can easily be avoided during quieter times.

24-hrs: This used to be 24-hrs when they first opened. Once the pandemic hit, they stopped and never went back. It would be great to have that back but I heard it is too dangerous and isn't enough demand.

Cleanliness: They do a pretty great job keeping the gym clean. I like that they have someone working there who specifically cleans. However, I wish they had more touch-free sanitizers like Retro has. Sometimes it feels like they are getting in my personal space when cleaning the floor or vacuuming right next to me.

Music: Decent selection and you can use the Rockbot app to queue a song. For some reason the app doesn't work the my Samsung Galaxy but it worked fine with my IPhone. I will check again and see if that's fixed. It would be great if they could interegrate the Rockbot app with the Planet Fitness app.

Juice Bar: Nope no juice bar, but they do sell premade Muscle Milk shakes. I usually make my own.

This is my home gym but thinking about changing it because of the reduced hours.. Originally it was 24 hours but after COVID.. never went back to it.. and The gym or "room" I should say is Very small for the high volume of people it brings in.. It stunk so bad in the abs/core room the other day that I couldn't even finish my workout and had to walk out.. so I don't think the air circulation is all that great there either.. Staff is ok.. they do their jobs but nothing out of ordinary.... the gym is "Serviceable" overall... But NOT worth it if it isn't 24 hours... Only reason I joined...

I'm giving this location a 3 only because it's small. I wish the franchise had gotten the additional space next to it so as to hv the machines spaced out. Without covid this would be a very tight workout space. They hv blocked off machines in between to give social distance. The air circulation I don't think is great....with all the sweating going on. We called a few months later after we saw that they were taking away money from us and the lady on the phone was the rudest person ever . Did not let us speak at all. I had cancelled my daughters membership last Dec due to being away in college. For some reason it never went through and I was being charged the monthly fee and the one time re newly fee. This is the best fitness to date... no judgement zone lives up to its name, get a real work out w/ awesome machine, timers/reps built in - such a neat idea 💡- after your work out grab a bottle of water at 50% off (BC members only) then if you had a really intense workout, sit on a massage chair, then hydro-massage for another 10... and go home relaxed - yet feeling accomplished!!! Plus 24/7 and so convenient and close to home... literally walking distance... their water is steaming hot, nice shower, super clean locker and bathroom...
