Every Saturday morning when this gym opens the staff wants to clean while people are trying to workout. Why is the gym not cleaned at night or two hours before opening to give the floors time to dry?

Staff mopping and vacuuming around people is rude and disrespectful. Make it make since.

Then when you ask the front desk why is there mopping and vacuuming while people are trying to workout the response is "it's the schedule time".

I don't mind that you're cleaning the gym, it needs to be cleaned during closing hours not while people are trying to workout, it's rude.

Smallest I've been to but still plenty of space. This Planet Fitness is on the same lot as Home Depot plenty of space for parking and limited parking for trailers, RVs, and truckers you will have to figure out how to park because of so many vehicles. The busiest Gym I've been to. The only problem is that the water pressure is low for showering.

I went to this Planet Fitness because mine is closed for renovations. Very impressed. Clean, plenty of machines. Large parking lots. Love the mixed crowd. Elizabeth PF they hog the machines for each other. I will be going here until mine reopen and decide. Great pleasant workout! My Gym reopened and it’s great! I still like the one better! I will go here when time permits.

Update:August 2025-Went back to this gym while on vacation. Pleasant workout. Everything is the same as the previous review. I went here the day the car went through Elizabeth PF not knowing… I already decided this is my new gym.😊

By far the worst gym I’ve ever been to. The parking lot is littered to the max with blunt raps, condoms, garbage, and bottles of urine everywhere. The staff is completely unprofessional as they personal train for money on their days off
and do not address people being on their phones for long periods of time while being on a machine. The equipment is always broken and not maintained. The staff is definitely selective on who they enforce the gym rules on as my girlfriend loves to work out with me and more often than not it’s an unpleasant experience. You have staff members who are yelling at the top of their lungs for no reason other than attention and their behavior is unprofessional on top of all that. The staff also decides to clean a majority of the treadmills while the gym is busy all the time and leave only 10 open. Going while the gym is busy is even worse the entire gym becomes a social club more than a gym, with bathroom reeking of marijuana all the time. I’ve witnessed male members of the staff cat call women more than they actually do their job as well. I understand the gym is a no judgement zone and I will never judge anyone by how they look or how they workout but there are things that have to be addressed here. This is also the only gym I’ve ever been to where more than once I’ve encountered other gym goers coming in groups to start trouble at the gym.

Avoid this Planet Fitness location.
This gym consistently fails to meet even the most basic standards of professionalism and maintenance. Employees (particularly an older Latin woman and a manager-level employee) enforce rules selectively, targeting certain members while ignoring obvious violations from others. This creates an atmosphere of discrimination and harassment rather than inclusivity. If you read more reviews you will see that the older Latin woman is mentioned several times because of how she harasses and targets people. And she still has a job for some reason?

The facility itself is poorly maintained:

Machines (especially the Smith machines) are misaligned and unsafe.
There are rarely any supplies to wipe down equipment.
Weights are scattered and never returned to their proper racks.
Staff are inattentive, unhelpful, and often rude.
Tanning beds are always filthy.

Instead of providing a safe and welcoming environment for all paying members, this location fosters hostility, neglect, and unfair treatment. For anyone serious about fitness—or expecting even a minimum level of customer service—this Planet Fitness should be avoided at all costs. I will never step foot in this location again. If the Springfield location is not better, I will cancel my membership and go to LA FITNESS

1. When a crime happens in their own parking lot not only did the workers not care but they didn’t even let the police officer do his part in helping the community as they wouldn’t allow him to step inside the building.
2. I’ve been to many pf, I have never interacted with as many unfriendly associates as in this location. Only 3 are friendly/kind and I appreciate them for that.

Pro: a decent facility.
Con: Very poor training. Last night I went through a really annoying ordeal where I was told that my membership was "inactive." I asked for claification and they said "transferred." Granted I did transfer back and forth to East Hanover branch depending on the time of the year, but when I asked if it's showing that I transferred to East Hanover, the staff member said she didn't know, the account was just dead even though I was still being charged monthly.

I called the manager this morning, and she was able to find that the membership was indeed at East Hanover. Turns out when PF transfers the account, it "kills" the old account and duplicate a new one at the new branch, which is why mine showed as "inactive." Who built this system?? It would have been a simple solution of looking up the branch number but instead the employee last night was like, "did you go to NY?"

The gym is clean, the staff is courteous and generally there is sufficient equipment for a good workout. It can get crowded at particular times, but that’s normal everywhere, it depends on when people get off from work. The only downside is that I think there should be closer monitoring by a trainer, as some people don’t know what they are doing and run the risk of hurting themselves. There is also the occasional abuse of equipment, and people sitting at a workout station using their phones while you wait to do your exercise. Overall, I would recommend Planet Fitness to others.

I have been going to the gym for almost 2 years now on a regular basis. I go first thing in the morning when they open on weekdays and weekends.

The main issue I have with this facility is that the staff is cleaning the main floor and the equipment when there is a lot of clientele working out.

I think cleaning needs to be done either before the facility is open or once the facility is closed. The staff cleaning schedule should not be affecting my workout or anyone else’s workout, which unfortunately it is and on a very consistent basis.

Today, for example, myself and four other people had to completely stop in the middle of our sets because staff came around with their vacuum cleaning and interrupting our workouts. To me that is completely unacceptable.

I loved the convenient Location of the facility, but unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pros.

I really hope the management at this facility reads this and really takes this into consideration because you’re loyal customers are not happy.

Came today to do a free day pass as I wanted to check out the gym I am new to the area and was considering PF. I was immediately turned away and told a day pass is $20. Even though it says on the planet fitness website that a free day pass is available. I rarely do reviews and post. But I have to single out this one employee there. Jacquel, he has the most positive open armed welcoming. Heartfelt words for you when you come through the door he's a very positive young man, me and my wife really, really enjoy coming there. Just because when we walk through the door he has a great positive outlook on life and your workout, and it's so Refreshing to have someone of his young age. Be so positive and enlighting. When it comes to just having a great day is not even about the physicality of working out. He makes sure that you're Mentally open for your day. I hope this guy can get a raise or something. If he does anything wrong, you guys need to forgive him because i've recommend ten people to this location just because of him. I just want to make sure that he's recognized. Because I know sometimes people do not get the recognition that they deserve. But 1 day I was coming in there feeling very depressed and he lifted my spirits, and I appreciate him for that.

PF (Vauxhall) has quickly become my favorite location. I used to be extremely terrified of going to the gym because gym culture sometimes is not nice to beginners. I enjoy coming here because it’s not congested when I go , people are kind and respectful. The bathrooms are clean , and the gym doesn’t smell like stinky people.

I used to go a lot more than a year ago, but I stopped going (Never stop paying even if you don't go ) I went again today to convince my friend to go with me, but I hate how cheap and selfish the massages are. I almost never go. I tried to get my friend to get a membership so we could go together. The lady refused me 10 minutes of massages from my membership, which encouraged me to cancel the membership and go to another one that is not cheap but more permissive.

I’ve been to this gym for 3 years, and I got discriminated against this old lady, Mirtha. She’s nasty, and she accused me of having a late fee when I didn't. Instead I had to pay someone else’s 40 dollar fee. She gives me nasty looks as if I’m doing something. She’s too old to even be working there. I never got my money back. The manager is no help. He’s all talk.. he said he was going to do something but he didn’t. I’ve always been a fan of this location. I’ve been a member ever since they first opened up. The cleanest location I’ve been to! My complaint is the tanning bed, I have been using them also since this location first opened, but within the last year the time limit keeps going down, I was always able to tan for 12 mins, then they changed to 10 and now it’s only 9! But why when the bed clearly says 12 mins on it! You ask the workers behind the desk why this is, and they have no answers. It just ruins my experience each time there.

This planet fitness location is overwhelming hot!!!!! It was the first day of summer and 92 degrees outside and the air conditioning was not at the appropriate temperature and only one fan was working which meant people had to work out in conditions that are not safe and can possible cause people to pass out. Once I got into the plaza I wasn’t able to see the location. Just be mindful if it’s your first time there that the establishment is all the way to the right of Home Depot. I loved how the outside of the building looked. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is extremely clean. This facility's temperature is consistently very uncomfortable, despite repeated requests to address it. Front desk staff promise to notify management but claim no control over the air conditioning. The back workout rooms are particularly stifling, discouraging people from using them. Even upon entry, the heat is overwhelming, and it's unclear if the air conditioning is functioning at all. Ventilation seems to rely solely on open doors and ceiling fans, which is inadequate and unacceptable.

I've been to other Planet Fitness locations and all of them are comfortably air conditioned. There is no excuse for this to be a continuous issue.

Today, I experienced an abuse of power upon entering the Planet Fitness Vauxhall location at 2445 Springfield Ave, Union, NJ 07088. Upon arrival, I checked in as usual with my friend accompanying me. I informed the front desk employee, Durelle Ross, that I have a black card membership and my friend would be joining me. Unfortunately, Mr. Ross displayed aggression in his tone and questioned if I had signed her up. I attempted to check in with her information on the screen, but he insisted she needed to sign in separately with her ID.

Despite my attempts to diffuse the situation and comply with his demands, Mr. Ross continued to speak to me in an aggressive manner. My friend even commented on the seriousness of the atmosphere in the location, to which I responded with a light-hearted remark. This seemed to escalate the situation further, as Mr. Ross accused me of calling him an inappropriate name.
In an attempt to maintain professionalism and address the issue calmly, I clarified that I was simply speaking to my friend, not to him. However, this seemed to enrage Mr. Ross even more, and he threatened to ban me from all Planet Fitness locations. Despite my valid membership and payment history, he insisted on calling the police and claimed I would not be allowed to work out at the gym that day or any other day.

I remained composed and stated that I would continue with my workout, as I had paid for my membership and had every right to use the facility. Mr. Ross continued to threaten me and eventually called the authorities, falsely accusing me of misconduct. This unprovoked and unjust treatment was unacceptable, and I am deeply disappointed in the lack of professionalism displayed by Mr. Ross during this encounter. The manager, Durelle Ross, called the police and falsely accused me of being rude and disrespectful towards him. In reality, I have never interacted with Mr. Ross in a disrespectful manner. When I did speak to him, it was simply to inquire about what he needed me to do and to inform him that my friend was accompanying me and that I have a black card.

Unfortunately, Mr. Ross behavior was consistently rude from the moment we entered the gym. His actions were emotionally charged and he abused his power, which led to me feeling embarrassed, humiliated, and ultimately having my day ruined in my attempt to better my health. It was disappointing to be treated in this manner, especially as a loyal member who has been consistently paying for over two years.
It was concerning that Mr. Ross decided to involve the police as if I had threatened or disrespected him, which was not the case. The authorities confirmed that there was no criminal activity involved. Despite this, Mr. Ross took it upon himself to cancel my membership without my consent. This action was a violation of my rights and I would like to speak with someone regarding this matter and have it rectified.

I believe that Durelle Ross' actions were unjustified and that he was out of line to cancel my membership without my permission. I am seeking a resolution to this situation that addresses the violation of my freedom of speech and my right to have an opinion. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The young girl working behind the desk on 1-4-24 at 2:30pm was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. She harasses gym members and their guest and expects for you to say nothing. Wrong person! Unpleasant Experience at Planet Fitness Union - Manager's Discriminatory Behavior

I am compelled to share my recent experience at the Planet Fitness location in Union. As a long-term member at this gym, I have always enjoyed my workouts and the welcoming atmosphere provided by the staff. However, my encounter with the manager, Durrel, was profoundly disappointing and left me questioning the professionalism and inclusivity of this establishment.

After completing my workout, I began to feel a bit dizzy. Concerned for my well-being, my partner kindly offered to purchase a Gatorade from the fridge while we were leaving. When we approached the manager, I politely requested my discount, as I was entitled to as a member. Shockingly, Durrel outright refused, claiming that my partner was holding the drink and thus not eligible for the discount. This decision baffled me, especially because I had expressed feeling unwell moments earlier.

To make matters worse, Durrel went on to claim that he would not even sell me the Gatorade because I had used a profanity earlier in frustration. It became apparent that his refusal had nothing to do with the discount or my choice of words; instead, it seemed to be rooted in discrimination. The manager's homophobic response left me deeply hurt and disgusted.

As a paying member who has been loyal since this location opened, I never anticipated encountering such discriminatory behavior from a staff member, especially not from a manager. This incident has completely shattered my trust in the gym's commitment to inclusivity and providing a safe space for all individuals. Durrel's apparent homophobia and rude demeanor are unquestionably incompatible with effective customer service.

In light of this distressing experience, I felt compelled to take immediate action. I promptly exited the facility but decided to reenter briefly to unsubscribe from my membership. I cannot, in good conscience, support an organization that employs a manager displaying such discriminatory and disrespectful behavior toward its members.

If you are considering joining or visiting the Planet Fitness Union location, I strongly advise against it. Durrel's actions and comments were unacceptable and highlight a larger issue within the organization. Nobody should have to endure discriminatory and rude treatment while trying to improve their physical well-being.

In conclusion, my experience with manager Durrel at the Planet Fitness Union location was highly disappointing and distressing. Discriminatory behavior has no place in an establishment that claims to value inclusivity and support its members. I sincerely hope that the management takes immediate action to address this issue and ensure that all staff members uphold the principles of equality, respect, and professionalism.

I canceled my membership in just 1 1/2 months. They charged me the yearly fee even though when I signed up they said they won’t charge it till the two months are up. Then they charged me for the full two months and wouldn’t let me use the gym even though I had two weeks left ton my contract. A total scam and I’d never go back. This place is a joke. I carry a small cinch bag with my phone, keys, wallet and towel. I was working out and was told I couldn't have this bag on the floor. The rule they have in place is for people carrying huge gym bags. I have been to numerous PF locations and this is the only location that ever said anything. What is intimidating about an underarmour cinch bag.

Not bad. Relatively clean, but machines need to be better maintained. These CANNOT be that expensive and/or difficult to replace.

Update: A “manager” is never available. I was told a manager a manager was in the back but busy if I wanted to wait. I waited 5 minutes then left. Called from the car in the parking lot and was told the manager had not yet arrived and to call back. You have name and contact information from your membership system. Feel free to contact me.

I have had my membership for almost TWO YEARS. i’m making a very big move literally across the country and so sadly i had to cancel my membership. The managers attitude was NOT IT. She was trying to make me pay for the next month as if that money goes into her pocket! I was being very nice because I understand it’s her job but when I asked for corporates number she told me they were not gonna help me either and almost didn’t give it to me. I was trying to be nice but they were all looking at me like I had 3 heads. Finally after asking 3 times for the number I was able to call and Thankfully Benny did help me out and fixed my situation. so screw all of you except for Benny.

Nice place. Disappointed with how many elliptical machines were out of order. There were only a handful working. Wasn’t busy so we could still distance.
