They close on thanksgiving at noon, FYI. The cleaning wipes are a brown paper towel with a watered down spray bottle of Fabuloso. Would be nice to not have to play janitor while working out. Anti-Bacterial wipe would suffice perfectly, like LA Fitness has. So just a heads up if you like being in a clean environment!

Most of the staff is friendly and the facility is clean.

However, If I pay the cost for a black membership monthly to be able to use all the spa amenities I think it is absolutely ridiculous that I am unable to use the tanning bed should I come an hour earlier than I did the day prior. I 100% understand not being able to use the tanning bed twice within the same day however, if I come the next day and it just so happens to be 1 hour prior to the time I came the day before and I’m unable to use what I pay for, to me that is ridiculous. When asked to speak to a manager to see if an exception could be made I was told to leave a Google review.. Disappointed.

Nice clean facility. Decent staff. Good weight room and cardio machines too. Only reason I am leaving 1 star is because Planet Fitness requires members who are canceling their gym membership to either write and mail a formal letter to the gym stating that you want to cancel your gym membership OR you have to go down to the gym location in person and fill out a cancellation form. You can’t do it from the app or website, which is ridiculous. They do this on purpose to collect more revenue and make it harder for people to cancel memberships. For that reason I do not support their business and will never use planet fitness again. I will stick with my YMCA gym membership.

The one in Rio Grande keeps it very clean and have so many cleaning stations and the one in Conway South Carolina. The other thing is that one Machine is out of order and I want to see how long it takes to fix it

Was so glad this gym opened near me. Big and roomy. All the other gyms in the area are shoehorned into office space with low ceilings. That said I wish they would fix the following:
1- never been to a planet fitness with tall ceilings that didn’t have the BIG ASS FANS!!! I feel like I’m going to die on the elliptical without the fans…at least crank the AC then bc this is def a reason to not go done days
2- You need a lot more cleaning stations, people are walking away leaving their sweaty mess behind because there are not looking across the gym to find one
3- I’m going in 5 min after taking the week off for an injury…ten bucks says the first few TVs in front of the elpticals are still broken? I’ve been told they haven’t worked since gym opened…please fix, the elliptical are right in front of the blank screens and while I’m sweating to death with the no fans, it’s becoming a sore point. Ooh look, I spy with my little eye a cleaning stations waaaay over there!

Went in on a day pass as I’m already a part of another gym and there was no tour of the facility and it was really warm in there like all the other reviews mentioned. It’s only comfortable in there if you’re not doing cardio.

I was really hoping to switch to Planet Fitness from another competitor gym but the lack of management attention (based on my experience and other reviews) doesn’t make me want to switch gyms and I’d rather drive farther away for a better environment.

I’m willing to check back in and see if management addresses concerns in the near future.

The gym is to hot and there's not enough cleaning stations. I have seen for myself some people don't clean the machines they use. The owner keep saying speak to management. I personally asked about the air and cleaning stations. I was told that it would be passed along to someone who can address the problems. The way I see it they don't care its going to take for someone to pass out to get the owners attention. I was on the elliptical and the screen deplayed low battery then the screen blacked out. No one is addressing our issues because when I go work out it's the same. SMH

Nice new place, lots of machines. Needs a good bit of improvement in management. There is no enforcement reminding people to wipe down machines after use, so there are some people I saw going machine to machine without wiping down. On my way in, I also saw a guy complain about it to the front staff on his way out, but i watched as they promised to talk to him, but I didn’t see them do so, but perhaps I missed it. The place overall needs more cleaning stations. I feel like this place has potential to go downhill fairly quickly which will be disappointing, but with a few stationed cleaning crew, and proper security/enforcement, this place can stay on top. I wouldn’t trust my belongings in the locker room as one lady said she was stolen from.. I also sometimes see a homeless couple come in just to use the shower, but I see no security or cleaning crew in the locker room/shower. I do see the staff cleaning the machines and weights regularly now, so I do appreciate that. I’m sticking around in hopes of it continuing to improve since it’s only in its first month.

I was excited to see a Planet Fitness come to the area, but unfortunately this one is rather disappointing.

For one, it is hot in here. I’m not sure if the owner does not want to pay to have the AC on, but it’s crazy to have a new gym that doesn’t even bother to provide an optimal workout environment.

Second, this PF is missing all of the new equipment that a lot of other locations are getting. There are no plate loaded hammer strength style machines, barbells, squat racks, or lifting platforms. Mind you - this location is $5 more for a PF black card than the advertised $24.99 that many others have.

Third, of the equipment this location does have the gym itself is rather sparse with a lot of empty space that could have more machines for when the gym gets crowded. For example, there is only one plate loaded leg press.

The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because inside is clean for now. However it does seem like the franchise owner is cheaping out and I hope they improve.

I like PF, been to a few in the area and even out of state. This facility is nice and big, plenty of new machines and room to workout. That’s the good part, because they’ve stumbled out of the gate a bit. Went at opening on Saturday AM and the doors were locked. Some employee either slept late or no showed and many people were outside waiting. Someone showed up about 20 minutes after actual opening. Not a good first impression. The layout of machines is odd for such a large space. You should never have machines near windows, but even worse when you have plenty of room to put them away from windows! The cleaning paper towel dispensers are mounted high on walls - good luck short people! They need more cleaning stations all around the gym, not just on the walls, far from machines. The tv’s don’t all work (yet) and there were cardboard tv boxes up in front. All of the above leads me to believe this facility opening was rushed and not well planned. I hope management reads this because there is plenty of room for improvement here. Good luck.

Really nice gym. I can’t wait to go back. It’s so clean. Everything is brand new. The people are nice. What’s there not to like, so happy they opened this. Finally! My one recommendation would be to see if they can extend the hours of operation (this is somewhat selfish of me I just prefer late night workouts). I know the one in Edison is 24 hours and that’s really the only one I think in New Jersey but it’s just a little too far for me to go out to Edison so I’ll just have to work out earlier.

Also, I really like the layout. I think it’s very spacious compared to other planet fitness gyms that I have been to. I do like the way they set everything up so that you can maximize your workout. They seem to put a lot of intention in the way they organized the gym. I don’t know why other people are saying negative things because I think that it’s pretty damn good. And to be honest, I don’t think that the treadmills should be facing the parking lot like someone else said because Who wants to see a parking lot like while they’re working out to be honest I like the way they positioned it facing the back of the gym where the mirrors are and weights and you can just be inspired seeing other people work out like I think that facing the parking lot would’ve been a bad decision, especially because all you’re gonna see is people walking in and out and it’s gonna be distracting and just make people feel a little bit on edge being watched by other people so I think they did a good job and people just need to recognize that. I used to have 24 hour fitness before and the treadmills and everything didn’t face the front of the gym towards the parking lot. They actually faced the mirrors and the equipment just like how it’s set up here and I also used to have a membership at crunch in Stanhope and it’s the same thing there same thing at the crunch and Greenbrook, the YMCA in Randolph, and 24 hour in union, so for someone to say like oh the treadmill should be facing. The parking lot is kind of dumb because Again who wants to watch cement. I’d rather watch people you know trying to better their health and get inspired and feel a little bit challenged by seeing other people’s endurance and stamina and focus on that then seeing cars and pollution and you know it’s just stupid to me for someone to say that. And if “God forbid” something does happen in the parking lot then guess what we will be notified by the employees who work there I’m sure and there’s tons of mirrors and I’m sure you’re gonna find out soon enough so just chill.

Also I’m not sure is if the massage beds and total body enhancement is now operating because when I first signed up, they said it wasn’t working so I don’t know how long that’s gonna take, but I’m looking forward to using this.

But good job guys so far I think you’re doing a great job and don’t listen to the naysayers you’re doing great.

I really love this gym, it’s clean, spacious, and the new location is great. The equipment is solid, and I come almost every day. That said, I had money stolen from my purse in the women’s locker room, so just be careful with your belongings. I can’t speak for the men’s side, but theft is clearly an issue on the women’s side. It sucks because I genuinely enjoy coming here, but I want others to be aware and cautious.

Great gym overall!
All the machines and other equipment are brand new. Everything is very clean, and the staff is super friendly. The SPA area is also very nice.
A few downsides:
It gets extremely hot inside — I would even say stuffy. After just a few exercises, you’re completely soaked. I’ve never experienced this in other gyms.
Also, I didn’t see any mats in the stretching area, which was disappointing.
There are very few sanitation stations with paper towels to wipe down equipment. Since you have to walk to the other end of the gym to get them, many people just don’t wipe down machines after use.
It would also be great to have a small stool in the changing area of the showers for more comfort.

Apparently whoever did the interior design of this gym has no sense of security or they don't care about people's safety. Instead of facing the treadmill and other machines facing the parking lot/ entrance door, they have you facing the back of the gym while working out. God forbid there's an incident escalating from the parking lot, no one would know until it's too late. Besides that, some of the machines is next to the windows where the sun is shining right on you as you workout. Limited number of cleaning supplies which is mounted up in the air for tall ppl, i guess they didn't consider you ppl shorter than 5 feet.

I really like how this one is very spaced out with equipment. I hate at other PF how it feels so on top of each other. The Black Card Spa equipment was not working correctly so was unable to use yesterday, no biggie hope it can be fixed soon.
