The Woodbridge, NJ Planet Fitness is an absolute dumpster fire masquerading as a gym. The second you walk through the door, you’re hit with the unmistakable vibe that you’re an inconvenience to everyone on payroll. The front desk zombies don’t even glance up from their phones long enough to grunt a hello — you’re invisible unless you’re interrupting whatever TikTok they’re glued to. These are hands-down the laziest, most miserable, openly hostile employees I’ve ever encountered in any service job, anywhere.

I made the mistake of asking one of these mouth-breathers a simple question and got snapped at with so much attitude I almost asked if his shift drink was straight vinegar. Customer service here isn’t dead — it was never born.

I joined Planet Fitness in Feb 2025 and was regular, then took a short break. Recently, I noticed two late fee charges on my credit card, even though I provided both bank and card details at sign-up. I didn’t receive any messages or emails about these charges. One staff member told me not to pay and said he would check about a 50% waiver. But another guy, Juan, was extremely unprofessional—he ignored my concerns, kept talking to other people, and refused to help. When I asked how to file a complaint, he didn’t provide any information. I was with LA Fitness for 3 years and never experienced such poor customer service.

Ive been hitting this gym for 4 years now, and I have to say, it’s been an amazing experience. The atmosphere is always motivating, Jessica and Dylan have been incredibly helpful, always offering tips and guidance to make sure I’m getting the most out of my sessions. One of my favorite gyms really good tanning bed kind of a mix though on the hot water in the shower goes cold kind of fast and I don't understand why they don't have a bench in the handicap shower like they do in the rest of the showers doesn't really make sense very clean facility Plus I love how it's kind of hidden.. kind of upset though because I was sleeping one time in the parking garage and some guy came up from some sweeping company or something and asked me what I was doing and I told him sleeping and he's like this is no hotel well duh dude but I thought that was pretty rude.. so I know that didn't have anything to do with planet fitness in itself but I thought that needs to be addressed that parking area can fit hundreds of cars and in one side of it you barely see 10 cars.

This morning Nov 2nd I wanted to register again.. as a new customer after they close my account for under decision they just want to get a higher position ovbiously not in planet fitness. It's like someone they them : you must do this to that person even lie if you want to take her or him out. This society is getting cruel. Unhuman robbers. No matter what. That is I see. . I don't know why do they want my bank account information. No idea. Other ways you can't get subscribe or open an account. I told the work I will pay cash now. It's money check money orders is money why do you want to force to every one customers bank account must be in the information it's stupid.
They just want our bank account to robbe our imformation. That is it. There is no other answer.
Now I'm not using it. Until I get my job and rent my apartment them I will dessapear they will not going to see me. In the pass that happened even I never show up they took money from my account Like one or two times.when I never authorized to reopen again so now that is why I do not want to provide my bank account information I have my reasons.

The entire parking lot is filled with bird feces and bird feathers which is in tracked into the gym. This is disgusting and a health violation which I have already reported to the Woodbridge department of health. The owners of this gym need to speak to their landlord about power washing and keeping the parking lot clean.

Edit: planet fitness' response is appalling. They want me to contact the landlord? They pay rent and presumably there is a provision in the contract that requires that the parking lot be clean or usable. You get in touch with the landlord why should I do your job. Hopefully the health inspector will shut you down. I will be calling again tomorrow to follow up based on your pathetic response. Literally I can see bird feathers in the gym itself. What part of feces in the parking lot don't you understand?

I have been a member for over 5 years.

Squeaky equipment, too much noise, but generally nice people and equipment that generally works. You get what you pay for - even though the quality has been slipping lately.

Today I drove over in the middle of a busy workday and was told “oh, we’re closed, we’re closed!” It was almost defensive, like I should have known. It’s the middle of a Wednesday. It’s not a holiday.

No text was sent out. No email was sent to members. I was just there the other day and saw no sign posted about this coming Wednesday being closed.

I am sick of my time and money being frittered with. I did not have time for this today. I barely had energy to make it to the gym at all, but I got myself there.

I am going to look into joining another gym ✌️

This Planet Fitness get an A on cleanliness between the hours of 6am-2pm. I will give a C during the hours of 6pm to Close. evening cleaners should pay more attention to detail during peak hours. But MOST IMPORTANTLY booking of Massage Appointment and the structure is completely unorganized. for example: the appointments are in 10 minute intervals but if you have an appointment at 7:10am and someone comes in at 7:09am to use a machine your 7:10am appointment is null and void until the person prior is done with their massage. this makes no sense and does not honor the calendar system. they make you book an appointment but explain it is first come first serve. people have prior commitments and could be on a time restriction this will not benefit you if you are a person that sticks to a cohesive schedule. the system need to be redesigned.

This location is hidden on the lower level of the plaza. (Included a video for the first time goers) I was a bit confused till I saw the opening to the lower level lol. Hope it helps others. The size of the place is good and the workers are friendly. I just wished that their equipment was newer like other locations I went to. Seeing an article on how Planet Fitness allows men who identify as women into the women's locker room got my anger up again. During Covid they closed this place down yet continued to bill me. Despite numerous requests in writing including certified mail I never got any sort of reply nor my money back. I had to close my bank account down to stop this. I have tried for 2 weeks to transfer my membership. The manager has given me the run around even when I explained I can’t access my account. I try again a week later and someone says she will call me back.
I went in person to my closest PF and the manager of that location was on the phone with the Woodbridge manager for over 15 mins because she DID NOT want to transfer my membership.
I wasn’t trying to cancel just to transfer because I live an hour away. The manager is rude, neglectful, and shouldn’t be in charge if that’s how she’s running things.
If you don’t want to have an unnecessary hassle go to a planet fitness away from this region. They are all the same.

I have been a dedicated customer at this gym for nearly five years, and until recently, it has been my go-to place for workouts. However, I recently encountered a situation that left me deeply disappointed. On a rare occasion when I forgot my cell phone and ID at home, I approached the morning staff—two girls—to see if they could help me by accessing my account through alternative means such as my phone number or SSN. Unfortunately, they not only denied my entry but also threatened to cancel my membership and involve law enforcement.

As someone who has been a loyal paying customer for half a decade, I found this response both unwarranted and unprofessional. It's disheartening to see such behavior from staff members, especially given the long-standing relationship I've had with this gym.

Furthermore, when I politely brought up the issue of empty soap and sanitizer dispensers, expressing concern about the hygiene implications, I was met with similar resistance. Instead of addressing the matter, they once again threatened to cancel my membership.

While this gym has been my 'home gym' with generally positive experiences, these recent incidents have raised serious concerns. I believe there is a need for employee training or, if necessary, a change in staff to ensure a more customer-friendly and hygienic environment.

It's my hope that the management takes these concerns seriously and implements measures to retain loyal customers like myself and maintain a clean and welcoming facility. Happy working out to all.

Let me tell you the two staff members I met today was professional but there's another employee that he was a tuff Tony on the phone, but I showed up, but left the floor, you see if you talk an hang up that's disrespectful as well when you ask for a manager hanging up again know you pushing your self. I'm letting people now if you are a member or not a member you keep it short and simple and professional. But hanging up and think your funny well you got some nerve but that's OK. Take your money and go to another GYM and let them get your service due to other Gyms relay on its members. You pay less you get less. You pay more you definitely get more respect as well the staff is professional at its best. So Management needs to sit with staff members and let them know hey costumer service is one of the keys to bring clients in. But ones again I'm not telling no one to go in Planet Fitness in woodbridge go were you fit in. And that depends on what your paying for. Planet fitness Woodbridge NJ Gym got a new trainer Essa. One of the nicest and respectful trainer I’ve ever seen, and I see him helping people and suggesting so nicely that how to do better workout and whenever I need any questions about workout that how to do whatever workout, he would be willing to help without any charges or trainer membership. Yesterday I was working out in the 30 mins workout area and found him with a senior couple (husband and wife), and he was teaching them how to do good workout in such a nice, kind and respectful way. Essa went outside and the old lady started talking to me that he’s a very good guy and helps us to stay healthy, I liked that and wanted to give the review so his senior can see his performance.!

There are a lot cardio exercises equipment. However, one thing I don’t like is the 4 stair steppers 3 of them are down for likely more than 1 month. I left Woodbridge on short notice to take a job with a humanitarian organization in Ukraine. I am on my way there, and tried to cancel my membership via the app. I had a lot going on before I left and canceling my membership wasn't a priority. Now I am told, I can't cancel online. I have to do so in person or by mailing a registered letter. In 2023 canceling online is not technically difficult. Clearly this process is like this to force people in my situation to continue paying. It is underhanded and unethical.

This place is a waste of time with a staff that never went to a gym let alone educated themselves on one.. It’s a complete joke in there. They have a girl with long nails and an attitude that made me wait half hour on signing up before she decided to come over to help then she ends up restarting the application over, because clearly it wasn’t going through as I mentioned to her 10mins after I finished and tried to confirm it, but at the time claimed it happens all the time and went back to talking to her friend.. When she came over after 20 mins of doing the application and wasting another 30mins waiting for it to go through due to a faulty system. Part I found funny and maybe be on camera is her saying this never happens after just prior saying it happens all the time. Her attitude was bad enough but when I said you serious after almost an hour I have to do it all over she was like yup.. I said nope I’m out and told the person I was with let’s go. The employee was like “ok whatever” since they can careless if you sign up or not I was tight. It’s pointless to have anyone at that front counter that’s how useless she was. This is my second time trying to sign up both times attitudes from 2 different people like you’re inconveniencing them if you want to sign up.. Gyms like that deserve to go out of buisness for hiring kids that don’t care that way the gyms saves money on salary.. Bad service due to trash management that don’t pay attention or maybe just reflect their staff.. It’s clear nobody really cares if they have so many people with attitudes that work there.. Never again and I already costed them 10 memberships and counting. Next time try to be nice to people it will go a long way. Sad they let all these sales roll out the door since they probably make no commission so it makes no difference to the employee.. No hunger no drive to help people.. I’m surprised they have so many members, but eventually they will notice what’s happening at this location as the service gets worse. For what it is, Planet Fitness is a budget-friendly alternative to some of the more expensive gyms in the area. I swapped my membership to this location when I moved here 5 months ago, and typically work out 4-5 days a week between 5AM-7AM. It's not empty, but it's empty enough you have room to workout without much fuss.

That being said, an annoying trend has been occurring within the past month that needs to be resolved. Myself and probably two dozen others will show up at 5AM and the gym will be closed. No sign, no notification/email, nothing. One day there actually was a notice that some pipes were being worked on, and that's fine. But every other instance, I just have to assume the person on-staff overslept. They did change the opening staff recently (we never had a problem with the previous openers, they were always there and always friendly), but since the shift change, this happens like once a week. Pretty annoying when you have limited time before work and have to trek to Linden (which isn't as clean or friendly as this location). Highly recommend you either communicate with your members or have a talk with your staff, or I'll need to take my business elsewhere.

I like this place. Not too crowded and the people are very friendly. The staffs are always make sure the equipments are clean and they are always smiling.

Like the gym had a very very bad experience, with a manager named Darrell" treated me very disrespectful now I've been a member in this gym since it opened. There's nothing like treating your customers with respect and dignity. Now I am directly speaking about a manager" not a regular employee. Very disappointed that I was treated in a bad manner by a manager.

I’ve been a member of multiple gyms both commercial and small business owned and this is by far the cleanest and most organized gym I’ve ever been too. Both the front staff and manager are very helpful as well! I appreciate and admire the way they care for the facility. Thank you!

Good and encouraging environment. The best way to self improve and learn is just by talking to people. Everyone is often so willing to teach and humble enough to learn. The small calisthenic community within the gym has brought a big sense of community and passion to surpass limitations. Love that the gym encourages this

I used to be excited to come to this gym to be able to have self-improvement and practice calisthenics along with meeting a bunch of new people to learn from and teach. I'm upset that I am no longer able to do calisthenics with friends I've meet along the way, so many people were encouraged and inspired to do calisthenics and we've built a community within the gym that drove each other to self-improve and get better overall. I am looking for another place I can practice calisthenics without judgement from people especially managers within the gym. The drake looking manager always had issues and gave us disgusting looks while practicing.

Finding a new gym cause there's seems to be a lot of judgement by management on the type of workouts we preform. Getting into calisthenics was the highlight of our summer which brought a lot of people together and encouraged a lot of new people to participate in the gym. We had a little community almost, as of recently we were told by the manager Brandon that he doesn't believe calisthenics is really working out and there's hundreds of substitutes we should do instead. Im sure the policy wont change but I just wanted to express the uncomfortably about the situation. Fun while it lasted but we dont want feel in a place of judgement while working out, its time for our next chapter. We will all be looking for a new gym.

SideNote: Brandon wears crocs to workout so its nice to see there was a policy change there at least.

I have been a member for about 2 years now at the Woodbridge Planet Fitness. It’s unfortunate that I have to now switch to another gym because of a management not allowing calisthenics workouts. A little backstory for context.

Me and a several other members have been practicing calisthenics in the gym for a few months now. Using 1 set of large weights (40lbs-or higher) to practice handstands, pike pushups, L holds, ect. There’s never been an incident of injury or taking up space from other guests. We only use open spaces available not near machines normally in the back where the pull-up bars are which we also use to practice.

Apparently a guest had complained we were using the weights and there weren’t any. Because of this the Store manager and District Manager Brandon are banning calisthenics. The only thing is just like other member’s we use these weights in our workout, not just to take a leave lying around hogging it. Once we finish practicing just like any other guest we place them back for the next person. I don’t remember there being a problem during the summer when they ran their 14-19 year olds come free promotions were they took every weight off the rack and used the gym as a social gathering.

I confronted Brandon about this and explained we are using them to workout like anyone else. Calisthenics takes shoulder, back, bicep and core strength among other groups.His response was and I quote “well there are a thousands other ways to workout”. Yes that’s true but we’re not strength training that’s not the point of calisthenics. I asked so what we do is not working out and of course to him it wasn’t. Just like any other member we use these weights for whatever workout purpose we need it for. I’m disappointed that for a gym that prides itself on the saying it’s a JUDGMENT FREE ZONE it’s excluding a certain group of people since it’s not in the norm of what he expects a workout to be. Anyone who want to start or is doing calisthenics I would not recommend comming to this gym as we’re not welcome!!I

After the policy change on handstands and calestenics. The friendly communities within the gym was kind of broken apart. Use to be a place that encouraged growth but with the multiple restrictions on unique ways to workout, the judgement free zone feels anything other than that. Managers expect employees to act inviting but are hypocrites to that standard. The manager that looks like drake gives nothing but cold stares, never a sign of encouragement to members or staff that work there. Paying to come here and can't even workout how I want.

This place is a joke, machines are always damaged or broken, people place the cellphones in front of the dumbbell rack where there is a sign posted to not do that while they have people watching on video. People take the dumbbells and do hand stands on them right in front of the front desk with employees watching and not saying anything.

This is the worst planet fitness I’ve been to. It’s in a horrible location, which is underneath a parking structure. Then once inside the two employees at the front desk was in experienced with doing certain things in the computer. The employee at the front desk approached the situation with an attitude and asked if I wanted to speak to a supervisor that was gone for for the day. She also refused to give me the gyms number stating “I have to reach out to my home gym”. After a breif back and forth I received the number to the gym. So if your in the area I recommend driving a little further out to another planet fitness.
