So today October 4th around 12:45 p.m.
I was in my home gym of Retro Fitness Edison.. I tried to use some of my points and a young lady at the counter said as of Tuesday that Retro Fitness of Edison was no longer allowing the members to use their perk points. I don't understand why there isn't a sign or management should have notified their members of ahead of time. This is really a big inconvenience

Ill be as short as I can because this is so much more than a gym to me. This place has come to feel like a second home, members are beyond kind, and staff have come to feel like family. Joe and Casey run this establishment Immaculately, always going above and beyond to keep it clean and ensure equipment is fixed and up-to-date. There was a little piece of the floor tile coming up once and I let Joe know .. 5 minutes later I see him speed walking to the area with power tools in his hand that is how fast and attentive these guys are! The energy in Casey's classes is unmatched...I am not a group activity girl but she has made me come around! It's also awesome they're included in the membership because anywhere else would easily charge $80 to $100 a month for these kind of classes. Retro Edison has easily become my favorite place to start each of my mornings.

I go 4-5 times a week in the morning. There’s never a day when I don’t feel important and that my well-being is at risk. Debbie and Judy ensure that the place is well maintained and sanitary especially during the pandemic. The protocols are always in place and stressed. Best move I made was transferring my membership from Fitness 19.

This is my fav retro location near me. It's always clean and the staff is great with making my smoothies. Love the updated machines such as the treadmills with the charging feature for my phone and the capability to connect my smart watch to the treadmill to track my workout. highly recommend this location. Zero complaints. Even love that the parking lot is nice and big.

WIFI ISSUE SINCE I JOINED IN 2024 to 2025 still NOT FIXED.

Don’t waste your hard earned money on this location because there wifi never works, I have been coming to this gym for more then one year now and they have very very poor management every week I ask them why there wifi isn’t working and always I hear that there is so many ppl using it , sometimes they says they just fixed it but they don’t know what’s wrong now with the wifi, and always they told me they are getting the issue fixed soon and this is been 1 year now so I quit.
i don’t mind using my own internet here but I’m not getting my own service too so atleast I would expect to have a good wifi connection at the gym.
Equipments are cool,
Overall gym is clean too.

I have a regrettable experience with this Gym. I would never recommend it. I canceled my membership months ago and they continue to charge me and even re-register. What they do to their clients is theft. I urgently ask for a resolution to my situation. And get my money back. I await your immediate response. Absolutely love Retro Edison. You never have to worry about the gym not being clean. The staff members are always coming around and replacing paper towels and disinfectant for the machines. Everyone is friendly, and I have been a member since the doors opened over 10 years ago. I have joined other gyms for change of scenery time to time and always kept my membership because I ALWAYS go back. It has all the basic essentials of what you need in a gym. If you can’t find what you’re looking for or really want something specific, you can address it with the manager Casey and the owner Joe and I am sure they will try to make it happen. I will always use this facility and let people know it is a wonderful gym with great members and an awesome staff.

I work out here every day, and I’m using an alias for this review, so don’t try to claim there’s no one with my name attending the gym. The gym itself is great and i would say the people work there in front desk are very friendly and welcoming, but recently, they have started limiting the number of users who can access the Wi-Fi on weekdays, though it works fine on weekends. If this is your idea of cost-cutting, I’d suggest finding a better method. There are countless ways to reduce costs, and this isn’t the best one.

I have visited about 15 area clubs and the Edison location is the best one, in my opinion. Good staff, generally clean with very few occurrences of broken equipment and the members are very respectful towards each other regardless of their current fitness level. This location did an excellent job enforcing all of the covid protocols whereas some of the other places tended to be somewhat lax about that.

This is probably the best Retro Fitness America. This might be a franchise gym, but it definitely operates like a mom and pop place. It’s always clean and weights and dumbbells are always organized. Management is phenomenal, especially Judy! The woman works hard to maintain a good gym environment, but also goes above and beyond for members. Always well informed and kind. I had half the mind to switch over to another type of gym, but she convinced me otherwise. I don’t regret staying and for as long as she’s one of the people running the show here I’ll continue to be a satisfied member.

Rushing through the parking lot between 455- 500 am, is not enough time to have the gym ready for business. Just two weeks ago, the gym didn't open until 6am because Judy was late. Please beware of these people. When I tried to cancel my subscription, they said they wouldn't cancel it on the phone. When I went there, they said that you can sign up for membership in any way but only owner could cancel the membership and she is not available. When I went next week, they said cancellation must be done 7 days before the payment and I was there only 5 days early and they are going to charge me anway. I mean come on greed has to have some limits. What a SCAM this place is!!!

I am not sure what these people who are complaining about the trash, smell or uncleanliness they are referring to. I have not seen this gym to ever be unsanitary in any shape or form. There’s ventilation and you don’t smell nothing weird. I just started using this gym very recently and it has been nothing but a pleasure from the moment you walk in. The staff greets you and they are amazing every single day. There’s sanitizing items for you to use after you use any machines. Everyone who goes to that gym is respectful. The facility has a strong, unsanitary odor that makes it uncomfortable to work out. The cleanliness standards at this gym are extremely poor, posing a risk of contracting diseases or viruses. If you like the smell of armpits and funky sweat..this is the place for you. The smell smacks you right in the face when you walk through the door. Its very cramped and the machines are inches from each other and there is no ventilation. The floors have muck and the work out mats have sweat stains on them. Also by the exits you can see garbage bags on the floor and no one in sight to take them out.

Very bad experience with this gym..called in to cancel my membership but they gave me such a hard time... called in many times before to confirm, the manager said I can cancel anytime with no charge when actually called into cancel they said I have to pay 1 month dues in order to cancel. I went physically to gym to cancel and I was told on the spot it was cancelled. When I called into confirm (didn't receive any confirmation email) told a complete different story about laws. I think it's their new way to get money out of people. Please please be aware before you join. It says easy to cancel but no I have been on hours on phone to cancel.

I have recently returned to Retro while on vacation. They have some new cardio machines now.

Retro Fitness has good pricing for short term plans, which I use when I am visiting the area for a couple of weeks. The gym is usually kept clean and there is a fitness cinema that shows popular movies. There is also an area near the front where you can request freshly made protein drinks and healthy snacks. The staff there are always friendly.

This fitness center is right on park avenue close to the oak tree road and talmadge.

Around 36$ per month with premium membership and annual fee around 45$.

Can bring the guest with you.

I tried different gym memberships in last 4 years like LA, esporta, orange theory, planet and finally ended up here in retro as i live very close to this.

But they have the new gym, LA coming very near to this one and its a bit hit to this gym.

These guys doesn’t have pool, no basketball courrs, no sauna, very old equiptment but they still charge us 36$ per month.

Try this place only if they give out discounts or prmotions.

Gym is very claustrophobic. Machines are placed within a couple inches of eachother. Parking is hard to find. If you go after 3pm, be prepared to spend most of your time waiting for a machine to free up. I would avoid this gym if you can swing a higher membership fee to the other ones.

I will never be returning to this gym again. I recently moved to the area and was looking for gyms to register for. Yesterday, I arrived at the gym and scanned my key tag. I had a guest (without an ID on them) that wanted to workout as well. Upon asking the front desk (specifically Casey) to grant me a guest pass, they asked me for the guest’s ID. I told them that they didn’t have one, and the front desk told me that they needed one. The front desk was very rude and had an attitude. After only a week of membership, I asked to cancel and told them I was signing up for the gym down the street. I wish I could give 0 stars. This establishment disappoints me.

Caught up in contract and cancellation is a hassle. I am being charged for upcoming month as well even though I have genuine reason for cancellation. I called for cancellation 15 days prior and all I was informed about coming in person and do the cancellation. When I checked-in at club, said your contract document says you should request cancellation a week prior in person or in writing which wasn’t said during the initial call and since I am within week’s time, I will be charged for one more month.

I think i missed the part of the contract where the staff can touch you and get in your face in the middle of the gym? My friend helps me workout as he’s more experienced and I’m a beginner and i was told we are no longer allowed to despite no where in the contract saying we can’t. We respectfully left when asked yet the short blonde moody Judy thought it was appropriate to grab and get in my friends face and start screaming. I had to step in between to get her to back off which should never ever be the way to resolve the issue. We didn’t put our hands on her so why is she putting her hands on us. Not sure where she learned her customer service skills as the professional approach would have been to let us leave as we were already doing and anything that needs to be discussed can be done at the front desk instead of disrupting everyone’s workout and making Retro look like a joke. Happy to say i cancelled my membership and will not return.

I registered online … easy to register and just go and start workout . 3 different pricing models , perfect for every needs .. they had a thanksgiving deal for dec free and it’s good. Parking can be tough sometimes , but overall a very good location. Just next to DAS cricket and badminton. So , during cricket days , we can work out here and then play cricket. Solid gym. I come here every time I visit family in the area. Good equipment, good staff, plenty of parking. Can't ask for much more in a gym. The shakes are really good, too.

I agree the gym is well maintained, reasonable price. Only thing I didn't like is they dont give full details when you signing up like no agreement fee, 7 day cancellation...etc. One of the staff member told me to visit later for membership cancellation.... However on an argument decided to do that.

I was a happy member before Covid, great classes and reasonable prices $19.99 plus tax monthly. Should not have cancelled. NOW $29.99 plus tax for the same. Pricey 4 me. I toured Esporta for $19.99, many daytime and evening classes sauna, pool. Etc.

I am considering joining. Price is reasonable. They have a lot of equipment - enough for my needs and I like the shake bar. I am not too crazy about their brand colors - red and yellow. I just wish they would paint the place. (Edison, NJ location) It looks too dreary. I am glad they survived the pandemic though. Still undecided.

It's a nice gym. They have a lot of equipment and space. Retro fitness could add an extra rack, but overall a good place to work out. It's a pain to cancel a membership though, I had to write a 2 paragraph letter explaining why I had to cancel.

It was a ok gym. However, the machines are close together living little space for social distancing. No sanitizing wipes just paper towels and spray disinfectant. No one really wipes the machines

I can not understand why do you keep lying to your customers? Customers are always right, I’ll never come to this gym anymore and they will cut $ 52 from your account and you will not even know about that. If you want to close your membership of the gym, they will still cut $ 52 from your account after few months won’t give you back to you.

Typically I’m at the gym 4-5 times a week. Their equipment is always in like new shape. If anything is ever broken or on its way out, they will fix it extremely fast compared to other local retros (makes a big difference). Even before covid, it’s always been very clean. Their staff is great as well. The only thing I wish they had was to extend out their second level to add more things. Otherwise, I don’t have any complaints!

I’ve been a member for about 5 months,This gym is fantastic plenty of machines I love the theater room very clean and the staff is extremely friendly.
