Now I’m not going to lie to you. This gym is consistently terrible. As a college student I’m not around a lot so when I’m home I like to have my gym membership to gain weight, however even after canceling my membership I get charged. If I got a 3 month membership you’d think I wouldn’t get billed more than once but you’d be wrong even if you turned off reoccurring billing. Every single time I have to go in there and talk to one of the workers are who are usually nice and helpful but this is a terrible issue, so do better.

This gym has a very welcoming staff who are helpful and the equipment is well maintained. Most members are polite and respectful.
The weights on main racks are similar to UMax which are my absolute favorite weights . It would be nice to have increments of heavier kettlebells. There are only a few light ones and 60 lbs is about the max .
Also please keep a TRX hanging from ceiling as
It’s not challenging in the manner it’s casually hung.

I am modifying review. The people here are respectful regarding equipment usage, gym etiquette. This is more than I can say for other gyms I have worked out at on island nearby where there are entitled bratty folks thinking they can monopolize equipment while on phone - not good at all and does not happen here....... Here I am surrounded by serious lifters with manners who are here to work. Please know that it is best for others to go elsewhere .

Maintenance related items are not being addressed when brought up to management. Seated cable row attachment needs new cotter pins, cannot use equipment properly(3 weeks). Set of 40lb dumbells needs purchased (3 months), only one set for entire gym. Light out in men's room (3 weeks). Treadmill on second floor, TV Monitor and tracking screen loose and ready to fall off (3 months). I enjoy this gym and the people there, but these are easy maintenance related issues that do not cost alot of money to address. What is my membership payment being used for??? Buying new equipment for personal training area which a small percentage of members use, what about the rest of the us. Thank you and hopefully these items are addressed.

This is an amazing gym i been going here for 2 years and in that 2 years i don’t think I would have grown as much as I did without the help of the trainers there anytime I would do something wrong or ask questions they would stop what they were doing to help and im so happy I choose this gym

This gym is ridiculous when it comes to canceling! I would NEVER join retro again. When you need to cancel your membership they want you to write a letter in order to get your membership canceled. then when I tried to freeze my account because of health reasons they asked me to send medical paperwork in order to freeze the membership. Like are you serious your a gym. This gym will have you sign your life away I advise anybody to not sign up because it's too much to go through to cancel!!

When you walk in the first thing you will notice is the smell. The smell is like a mixture of the Highland Tavern’s Bathroom in Gloucester City, a very unique and potent smell of ammonia and urine with a mixture of marijuana. Used to love this place but, ever since they hired the new “General Manager” Leonard, this place has gone downhill fast. There have been weeks where there weren’t specific smoothie ingredients so I couldn’t order the one I usually do. There was one weekend where there were no water bottles for sale. I never see him doing any actual work, he just sits in the office all day and works out. Other than that I see him talking to members about firing employees that everyone likes and that have been there long before him. I think it’s totally unprofessional to be talking about personnel matters in front of and to your members. You should do yourselves a favor and get rid of him and put someone in charge who actually knows what they’re doing.

My favorite place! There is always enough gym equipment here unlike planet fitness. The monthly rates are fair and I like the hours of operation. I do wish the gym was open a little later on the weekends but I can enjoy this gym as a whole. Even on a crowded day I can use all the equipment that I need without waiting.

This Retro Fitness is a good gym overall. There’s a lot of weight machines, cardio machines, benches, and pretty much all equipment you could ask for in a gym. One thing I do wish is that the weight machines had smaller weight increments instead of having to increase/decrease the weights by 15 lbs. Other than that, I was very satisfied with my experience. The staff was friendly and helpful, prices were reasonable, and the gym had a good atmosphere. I’d definitely come back here.

The atmosphere from your first step into the gym makes you want to join this gym. The owner and staff are super friendly and are very pleased to help you if you have any question about the facility or with the machinery. You constantly see workers cleaning the locker rooms and the equipment. The layout is very open and plenty of equipment to use. The reason for my 1 star is that the representative that apparently canceled my membership did not properly cancel my agreement. And when asked after signing the cancelation agreement in person I specifically asked do I need anything else and was told no, you will no longer be charged have a great day. Well after looking at a bank statement I'm still being charged, and after speaking to the manager the representative never closed it out as he was to do so. So now there was nothing stating I canceled my membership. And that I can not and will not be reimbursed for that charge due to the lack of service. The only good thing that came out of that conversation was its canceled now, but doesn't change the fact that the representative didn't do his part.

I love the gym we go to in Egg Harbor Twp. The staff is very friendly, and very helpful. They are amazing. They take time to work with my son who is autistic and help build his self esteem. I love the staff, the people and the relationships I've built while being at Retro Fitness. In my opinion it's the number one Fitness Center in the area. Everyone is welcomed and no one is judged, from the beginners to the athletes to the heavy lifters everyone is there for their own personal goals and to achieve them while having a fun experience all at the same time. Retro is somewhere we look to escape from everything else around us it's become a second home and it's a safe haven for a lot of people. If you haven't been there so far you have to do yourself Justice and try it. You won't regret it and you'll love the results

When Retro EHT reopened during the pandemic, members received no notification that their credit cards were going start being charged, nor any information on how to opt out. The owner of the franchise did not think notifications were necessary and told me I should have been watching the news. But the news would not have had any information about their intent to start charging or how to opt out. Plus the manager contradicted the owner and said she did send out notifications, which was a lie. Her saying that shows they know they messed up royally, but are doubling down on their mistake.

Normally I don't leave reviews but Retro EHT does not deserve to stand after these egregious business practices. I am looking forward to Produce Junction's expansion next store when they close.

Great people run this gym. They say hi to you by name when you walk in the door and are always in good spirits. I’ve gone to a few other Retros and this one is by far the best. It’s always clean and when equipment breaks down it’s immediately fixed. They are constantly adding and upgrading equipment too like the new treadmills upstairs. 5 stars!

My son and I always find a gym when we are on our family vacations. We've had our share of hits and misses - this is definitely a hit. In fact it is one of the best we've been too.

We are both into free weights. This place has 3 squat racks - many don't have one. There are multiple benches, stools, etc. It really has everything you need. It even had a weighted push sled!! I've only seen that in one other gym.

The equipment was clean and well maintained, weights were put away, people seemed respectful of the equipment. It's obvious this place is run very well.

As out of towners the day pass is very reasonable and there isn't a limit as to when you can buy it (other gyms only let you buy it/use it during business hours).

I saw in other reviews the mention of the locker room and bathrooms - I completely agree. They were both very clean and well maintained. If I lived here I'd be a member. If we come back to Atlantic City I know where I'm going. You have a gem here.

I was in the facility the other day and I overheard the owner call the nice front desk lady a wh*re. That is completely unacceptable behavior in the workplace or in general, he should be ashamed of himself! I would not recommend this gym ever!
