Recently moved so this is the closest Retro to me. The staff are always super friendly and help keep the place as clean as possible. Just waiting for them to update the theater room.

DONT GET MEMBERSHIP HERE!!!!!! I got a membership at 2017 and I moved to another place without cancel it IN PERSON, I called to cancel but they rejected and asked me to come IN PERSON to cancel it. So they charged me for another 2 years membership for nothing. Now I'm canceling my credit card to avoid this charge.

Retro has all the cardio equipment I need. It's always clean and in working order. Your protein shakes are so good! And I can tan at Retro - BIG plus because tanning salons are so expensive. The staff are pleasant and helpful. You guys are great πŸ’ͺ !!

As an occasional visitor to this Retro, all of my experiences with staff have been favorable. The equipment I've used have always been clean and well maintained. While I do agee that the benches in the weight room are tight, my biggest disappointment is with the men's shower area. I've visited over 15 different Retro locations and the showers here are among, if not THE worst - Low water pressure, cheap shower nozzles, dirty/old shower stalls, (one stall is stained from the constant drip from the shower that hasnt been repaired), dirty shower curtain, peeling ceiling paint, etc. I think some upgrading in this area would be greatly appreciated by those who use these facilities.

Clean well equipped gym with an upbeat atmosphere! Management at this Retro cares and it really shows. Miranda the manager always greets me when I come in with a smile and asks me how I’m doing. You can tell her and her staff truly care about their gym. Definitely a place to go!

5:25am Monday 9/24/18 and still waiting for the door to be open. It’s hard enough to wake up on a rainy Monday morning. This happened about two weeks ago on a Saturday as well. Inexcusable.

*UPDATE*

The manager was very helpful and resolved my issue. Thanks Miranda

The worst Gym I ever seen in my whole life.
They don’t have proper Customer service.
They don’t have any communication among themselves.Their is no proper online service.
If wee call to Abc financial service they don’t guide us properly.
These Guys are always in number one position to loot people and betray them on their level of knowledge.
Not only me their is a lots of people who are really unsatisfied with this organization.
If possible their CEO must involve in this case and should advise common people and take proper action on the things going around them.
Worst Business by Hamilton people especially.

Thank you,
Srikanth Reddy Cholleti.

I would easily give this place a ZERO if that was an option. Most of the equipment is broken or in really poor condition with a sticky residue... not joking. The second you walk in, you get hit with a stagnant smell of sweat and urine; it does not seem like they EVER cleaned this place properly... its absolutely disgusting. Worst part is the management, specifically the woman manager in her late 20s- 30s with dark black hair that's more concerned about her phone than actually having a conversation with the customers. BECAUSE of HER and her poor customer service skills is why I cancelled my membership... well, she said she cancelled it only to find out she lied after calling ABC Financial. (PS in case you'd want to complain.. the manager only work 9-5 during M-F and 7-12 Sat-Sun... not really helpful if you have a normal job!)

I have been to the Lacey, Manahawkin, and Neptune locations over the five years I have been a member without any issues. The retro on Rt. 33 in Hamilton however is awful. The gym itself is gross and there was always old dried vomit inside of the garbage cans because they don't change the trash bags daily. There were broken machines that would sit with an out of order sign for weeks, that they would then remove and not replace with a new working machine. Which sucked considering the machines I use they already had very few of. I recently had to cancel my membership since I was relocated for work, and there are no locations in my area now. I mailed out my letter to cancel in March. I was charged for March (which I expected) and then charged again for April. I called to inquire about April's charge, and the woman manager was extraordinarily rude. Every word she said to me was dripping with attitude. I don't have a problem paying for the cancellation fees, but there is no need to treat a customer like that, especially one of five years. Completely unprofessional, and pretty much sums up my whole experience at that location.

If I could I wouldn’t even give it a star. The staff there are rude as hell and they won’t let me cancel my membership even tho I moved and there isn’t a retro nearby. Plus, they seem to lowkey discriminate against transgender people... I definitely don’t recommend this gym

Inconsistent and discriminatory membership policies where they pick and choose who to disadvantage. I had my membership frozen because I was going away for work. Last year when I did this at another branch, I had no problems and came back to reinstate it 7 months later. This time, Hamilton retro hit me with a full fee charge in 3 months with no warning. I consulted a manager, who said they only freeze long term for students, which I was not told at the time. And she requested that I send a certified mail with my proof of relocation. As if I'm going to waste more money on them. Funny thing is, I have a coworker who froze the account the same time as me and he literally just told them he didn't feel like going to the gym for a bit -- no issues for him yet though. He's just twiddling his thumb waiting for his charge to hit after I told him what happened.

Oh if you want to know about the quality of the gym, just understand that you're next to Trenton and there are guys that work out in jeans.

Had my plan canceled months ago and got charged a annul fee which i was never told about. Called the location and spoke with Naydeen, who at first claimed to be a manager, stated they had every right to charge me after my member ship had been canceled. After speaking with Naydeen about the issue for some time she put the real manger on who informed me that Naydeen was just a trainer. Speaking with the real manager Mike he informed me that there is nothing i can do about their mistaken charge and i would have to come into the location to speak with them if i wanted to talk any further then hung up. Would not recommend this location to anyone looking for a gym. If you have gone to this location make sure to check your bank records for chargers after you cancel and report all unapproved chargers to the BFB to make sure franchises like such are not able to steal money from old customers.

Gym definitely needs some serious cleaning. Equipment is too close together. It doesn't help there is a farmers market next door and gym smells just like a farmers market...The gym needs a makeover and better up keep...employees should walk the floor more often to maintain the work out areas that are left disarayed by lazy members that don't pick up after themselves. Gym needs a face lift and good cleaning...employees have care and maintain the gym...they need to take ownership and treat their job like if it were their business...equipment also needs cleaning I've never seen anyone cleaning the equipment...sorry for the poor approval rating but it's the honest truth

Bordentown staff are much friendlier and actually acknowledge you when you walk in. The entire matt of the gym seems to have this weird bubble and isn't actually glued to the floor. Only one squat rack and no stair master. No standing calf machine is odd.

It's a dump compared to Bordentown Location, and not to mention they are scam artists. Don't waste your time, go elsewhere. If you can make the further driver head down to Bordentown where they actually take care of the gym.

Looks nothing as it does in the pictures here. It is really dark and dreary inside. The staff members are unkind and unfriendly. They don't look too happy about taking care of your children either. The manager woman is racist and rude. The other staff members are arrogant. Their treadmills in an upper level area have no air conditioning whatsoever nor even any proper ventilation. Just two old crappy fans blowing hot air. I guess it's good if you like running inside of a sauna. The internet has to be the absolute worst I have ever winessed. You constantly have to keep connecting and putting in the password. And even then, it only connects you for a short period of time. I certainly would not suggest this gym to anyone.

It has a decent amount of equipment, but the hygiene of the facility could be better. Also, most of the pre workouts for sale there are insanely over priced. Take Curse pre workout for example, a 50 servings container costs $28.49 yet they charge you $2 per serving, meaning they make a profit of $71.51 per container. The same concept goes for ON gold standard pre workout, c4, and any other brand they are carrying at the time.

I had my week trial which was a great experience, I returned to sign up and a woman imidiealty said no to my request without an explanation until later. Me being 17, I wasn't allowed to sign up without a waver from a parent which I understand. But since I may look young I was taken as a joke, you lost a potential customer. In addition was extremely rude, only info I got was that she made sure that she included she was a manager.

It has one squat rack with non-adjustable safety rails, making ATG squatting impossible for shorter people.

You have to sign a contract to pay for multiple months in a row with additional fees, with little flexibility.

There's often strange meatheads and I suspect a lot of unnatural lifters in this gym often.

Other than those cons, the gym has 3 benches, a full set of dumbells, your standard machines, and a bunch of other equipment available for use. For the price it isn't a bad gig, I just wish they had at least one power rack.

1.Disorganized
2. People don't know how to use the equipment correctly
3. Half of the equipment is missing or being used by an idiot and her chubby boyfriend.

Wouldn't recommend this one go to another Retro!

Nothing really to get excited about, but it's a solid fitness center for experienced lifters. The price is great, no complaints here. Limited cardio variety and space are really my only complaints.

My review is based on the poor customer service that I experienced at this location of Retro Fitness. The facility itself is a fine gym and is suitable for solid strength training and cardio programs.

Since I was a college student in Virginia at the time, I decided to get a membership at Retro Fitness while I was home for the summer. I kept my membership for several additional months so that I could use the gym during the various holiday breaks that we had. Eventually, I decided to cancel my membership. I canceled the membership in writing as the contract required. I had no issue paying a $60 termination fee that was calculated as a percentage of my remaining contract. I paid the fee and expected my membership to be terminated effective immediately.

After checking my credit card statement, I noticed that Retro Fitness continued to bill me despite canceling my membership. I called the manager at the gym. He told me that he did not process the paperwork as a termination. They processed it as a "non-renewal" instead, meaning that I would still be charged for the remainder of my membership and that I was liable for the back payments. When I asked why he did it this way he stated that there was nothing that he could do and that I would have to pay.

I called my credit card company and disputed the charge and notified them that Retro Fitness was no longer authorized to charge my account due to a breach of our contract. I was reimbursed for all the charges that Retro Fitness had charged me. I expected this to be the end of my ordeal.

Now I receive harassing emails and phone calls from ABC Financial, which is Retro Fitness's financial membership service. I now have a bill from them for all of the backcharges that my credit card company took from them. After calling ABC Financial, they contacted the gym manager in Hamilton and said that it was a paperwork issue that is Retro Fitness's fault and that I should contact the gym. After another phone call we were told that the gym still would not do anything about the fraudulent charges. The credit card that I used has since been canceled and Retro Fitness does not have any of my current credit card information on file, so I cannot be charged but the harassing emails and phone calls continue.

After this ordeal, my father and I have both severed our relationships with Retro Fitness. My father was happily a member of this gym for several years but left after hearing about my ordeal. It is a shame that a decent gym is ruined by pitiful management and customer service.

Decent gym, gets packed during peak hours but that is to be expected. Some of the crowds that show up do so to socialize rather than work out which gets annoying.

One of the best pure gym environments around. No fluff, clean, and a great place to work out! The work out theater is a great idea. Previous reviewer must not have looked around! about 25 treadmills, 20 ellipticals, three different circuit weights, plus a multitude of freeweights! A+++++
