Retro Paramus has been in operation for years I think it’s changed ownership a few times but all in all a decent place to work out. During the shutdown there was 0 communication until an abrupt post on some social media about shuttering for good. Absolutely unprofessional and if they open again I will not support them.

By far, one of the best retro locations i have visited. Very clean, the workers are constantly cleaning the equipment. Also very organized. This will be my new go to location from here on out. They just need to fix the parking lot, way to many pot holes

Retro Fitness sticks to the traditional gym setting while providing a variety of classes ranging from Zumba to boxing. Access to the gym's full functions comes at a very reasonable price. Their equipment is up to date, the gym and bathrooms are clean and neat. Not to mention the staff is very friendly and helpful. I couldn't recommend it more 10/10.

Canceled membership in person. Didn’t hear anything from the club for over a year. Got a random mailer from a collection company saying I owed money. Called Paramus retro up and they gave me a run around, told me they needed to speak to corporate and would call me back. Never called back. I suffered a hard inquiry on my credit and they lost several customers. In a saturated fitness market...that’s a very Bad business model they have going on.

This place is a disaster. Employees are rude, if you try to ask any of them a question they will just roll their eyes. They don't care about helping anyone. terrible customer service. Kelly and Ariana are the worse ones. If you try to speak to the manager he will just side with his employees and send you on your way, now I see why employees treat their members that way because management does the same thing! This gym is falling apart. Equipment is old and filthy. Not to mention poop in the walls in the bathroom. But i guess you get what you pay for. You're better off at another gym trust me!

The gym is too hot, very poor air quality, it smells like armpit. It's a shame that you can only work out in the winter when it's cooler. The gym otherwise isn't bad, it has nice employees, good equipment and is clean. I have been going there since it opened and I do like it, I just don't enjoy my workout when it's too hot.

Went here once. Good variety of equipment, but I'm no gym expert. Not too packed in the night on a weekday, and the retro look is endearing. Went here on a trial and asked to not receive any emails, but alas, I get one every few days.

This gym is fine.. nothing special has a lot of bars which is great. But recently they decided to allow these classes to take over half the gym.. they will take the dumbells, bars whatever to wherever they need. If you want to use the equipment the class is using the trainer has the balls to tell you no- the class is using it. Unbelievable. You have no idea how hard I had to try to hold back completely going off on her.

DO NOT SIGN UP HERE. They are taking more and more space away from the regular gym goer to give to fools who are stupid enough to pay for a training class.

Just got home. Went for a Retro Paramus workout. My workout didn't happen. Once again, they did not open on time. Hours are posted as 5AM. But, so very many times, they don't. Many people, including myself, wait around a bit, and then leave frustrated and upset. We took the time to get up early and workout before we go to work and start a busy day. Unfortunately, not opening has been a longstanding problem at Retro Paramus; and has been bought to management's attention numerous times. But, there has been no real fix. No back-up plans, no postings, no apologies. This is not a one-time issue. It's a many many many time issue.
We put up with many other longstanding issues at Paramus, terrible air quality and circulation, broken soap and paper towel dispensers, broken TV's, the accumulation of green stuff on the water fountain, long long wait times to get the most basic of repairs done etc...
Many of us thought that after the "Fit Club" boxing studio began subletting 25% of Retro space (with the unfortunate concommitant loss of Retro equipment and space), that the infusion of rental income would help some of these issues. There has been a few cosmetic beneficial changes. And I know, with any gym, with any business, clientele can't expect perfection. But,we should not have to tolerate longstanding multiple non-openings. "Management" just really doesn't seem to care.
I want to stay at this gym; I want this business to succeed; it is convenient for me (when it opens), and I have been a member at other Retro's for years. But, I don't know if I can; my time is valuable- I wish Retro would respect that. I hope management will finally remedy this issue. If not, new prospective members should be aware. I will be investigating other gym options.
I am not a gym newbie; I have been working out for 25 years; I know what goes on at gyms and what to expect. Opening the doors is not an extraordinary nor inappropriate request.

I joined here about one year ago. I have no complaints. The gym has only improved since then (new equipment, updated facilities) and the staff/environment have been consistently pleasant and enjoyable.

Everything is clean and no matter how busy it gets, there's never a feeling of overcrowding.

Hello I am Carlos Mora the gym is good the facilities clean the machines are excellent but the service is regular I was during a year under contract always paying on time but for reason of trip to my country of origin I had to cancel I was not accepted the cancellation by Telefono I move to personally send a letter to the mail and I leave you document where I show my trip and they told me that in 24 hours I canceled the menbresia because I have not canceled the menbrecia and I deducted another month of payment seems to me an abuse with The clients be careful because what they say is not true I do not want to go back to this gym and I hope they solve my problem

I used to like this place and recommend it to people. IT IS HORRIBLE AND FILLED WITH RUDE PEOPLE. Also very dishonest. But my gym membership ended more than a year and a half ago and they charged me for 18 months straight even though I did not go. When I mentioned to them that my contract was soon to end, they did not even tell me that it wont terminate my membership. I only found out about them charging me when my credit card number changed and they had to contact me. When I called them and kindly asked them to explain to me what was going on? Why was I charged for a year and a half and I wasn't even going? They said that I not only need to pay the whole balance, that I would also need to do it fast before the end of the month so they don't charge me again. They were so rude. HORRIBLE PLACE. all they care about it money

It's a basic gym with plenty as far as cardio equipment, but that's about it ... I found myself bored after a few months, and haven't gone back in almost a year now .... I just finished writing my cancellation letter, which has to be sent 'Certified Mail'. Ridiculous.

They have a 'small' aerobic room, and they have just started to try and bring in aerobic instructors, however, the room is so small it's first come first serve so it's hard to get a space without having to be on top of one another. Also, the classes are all over 6:30, nothing immediately after work .... I've asked about that and been told, "we'll work on it". That was 6-7 months ago.

I don't like that they collect an annual $29.00 fee, you have to sign a 1-year contract, and they constantly advertise, "Special membership- 22.00 a month" when that is the actually going rate. I left Golds Gym for this place and I'm sorry I did - it's like Rolex vs Timex.

It's the last time I ever sign a 1-year contract, and join a low-end health club.

Been a member for just over a year. Any issues I have had here were handled swiftly and professionally. I like the staff, they are all pretty friendly and very helpful, from the Front desk, to the weight attendants, everyone is cool. It does get WAY packed at peak times, but thats the nature of the business, people go when they have the time, and well, you deal with it. Place is kept very clean and I have not experienced equipment being broken for long periods of time. the smoothie bar is great, just too many calories for me haha. I am a fan, and will remain so.. thats why I have reccomended at least 20 people to join.. of course i tell them to go when im not there, to keep the peak times less crowded!
