I recently just got off of my last crutch after surgery, and I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever felt more love. They have a smoothie bar and other amenities as well and plenty of open space. Highly recommend this location. I’ve been a member of this gym for about 8 years or so now never had a complaint. The staff is friendly and helpful and the gym is always maintained. I’ve seen the gym go through progressives changes like the addition of more squat racks and a turf section. Always a pleasure.

Just not the type of service that would make me wanna come to this specific gym. Any good reviews must be family. This place is dingy. Check with the Better Business Borough for complaints. No one can cancel when you sign up! I cancelled through calling, going there in person and certified letter. The owner is moody and the atmosphere stinks, but you will see for yourself when you become a member.

I’m happy I decided to join Retro WLB when I did. I go almost every night and each time I walk in I’m welcomed with a smile. I love how clean the gym is and I totally feel comfortable there, even though I was a little nervous in the beginning. All of my questions were answered and Alyssa is great, very knowledgeable and helpful. There is absolutely no judgment, just a great experience and I look forward to going each day. I had a brief membership at this gym the gym Manager made me aware that I could not train anyone and I stopped! So I began to do my own style of using the machines and another member worked out with me! Meaning we workout together! In training the trainer does not participate in the routine!In the middle of the routine she came over talking loudly about as she alleged I am training him and taking FOOD OUT OF THE MOUTH OF HER CHILDREN ASSUMING I WAS GETTING PAID ON JULY 16th She screaming told her employee at the front desk cancel His membership! I did not become confrontational! Because I realized that her very limited inability to deal with people of color! I never allow anyone to treat or talk to me in this way! However in her case I felt sympathetic for her because of the very limited inability to express herself in a decent manner! Planet fitness does not let any member of management act as this owner of retro Fitness does! Canceling no problem cleanliness very very good! Enrollment many times 0% down

The Worst place to go for exercise. Today a man who is supposed to be the branch owner in West Long Branch screamed, harassed, humiliated and intimidated a women just because she didn’t put the weights back right after she was done with the exercise she was using it for. He kept screaming at her even after she told him that’s she was on her wait to put back the weights. He kept screaming at her and telling her to leave, walking towards her intimidating her and told her to never come back. This was not the first time it happens at this place. He is a horrible person and don’t know how to treat his members. I understand that some members don’t clean up but there is no need to act in shuck a stupid, ignorant and disrespectful way.

I’ve been trying to cancel my membership for the last two years. I received orders from the military to move to a different state. Was told by staff that I was good to go since it was a month to month. 6 months later I get an email saying I owe late membership dues. I went through the process of sending a letter with all of my information on it to ABC financial and didn’t receive anything further. Two weeks ago I received an email stating that I’m overdue and owe $100. I’ve done everything I can do. No one is willing to help. I enjoyed working out there but now it appears I either have to pay a monthly membership until the day I die or have my credit hit for the rest of my life. It’s a very poor way to treat paying customers, especially during times of financial constraint during the last several months. Don’t fall into this trap!

Update: The owner was helpful in resolving my membership issue. Aside from the difficulty in cancellation I enjoyed working out at this gym.

Great, helpful, friendly staff. The shakes are delicious. Great lay out of equipment. My only complaint is the creepy cleaning guy that tends to only focus on cleaning areas around me and other women. I just got here and there’s 50 treadmills. He literally just cleaned the 2 taped off next to me, and none of the others. Again, I’ve seen it happen to other women as well. I will take videos and photos next time when it happens again 9/18/20 12:05pm

Highly recommend the West Long Branch location! Sad to have to celebrate this, but as someone that has 3 memberships to corporate clubs like retro... everything works at this location! Shady business. Owner Alyssa contacted me within the first week to see why I hadn’t showed up. I stated I wouldn’t be able to continue and that I was cancelling with in my grace period. Here we go a year later after contacting ABC who said I was stuck and had to wait a year and then call back to cancel. I went into Retro today and low and behold Alyssa is on vacation so I was told to just call ABC again. Just got off the phone with ABC who now states they cant cancel I have to submit a certified letter. Total BS biggest waste of money! Avoid this business who takes your money and the OWNER Alyssa does nothing to help you.

WORST GYM EVER!!!! Stay far far away! Be careful if you ever cancel your membership. When I moved I went into the gym and I thought I cancelled my membership in person, was told that everything was complete. I don't know it's not like I cancel my gym membership often. I am a gym rat. So I moved and realized almost 2 years later that my credit card was billed in access of $750. When I called the gym I was told that there was a totally different process then how my cancellation was handled. I was told that I didn't handle it right. Isn't the business supposed to guide the customer through a process?Maybe just maybe you had a incompetent or new employee that gave bad information or did it wrong. I run a multi-million $ per month business and sometimes my employees make mistakes and guess what.... I pay for them. It's called good business. When I called in I was treated terribly. I was told that they did not handle my cancellation the way I said it happened. The GM basically called me a liar. Is this the way you treat your customers...? I can go on n on but I think everyone should catch my drift. I don't have the time or patience to dispute this so I chalked this up as a loss don't let the same thing happen to you.

I have been a member of this gym for about 4years now, this is my second home! It is hands down my favorite place on earth!! I went to the retro fitness to start a gym membership and the man I first dealt with was nice and cordgil with me going over prices and how getting a personal trainer would work. The owner of the gym Alysia came over as me and the man were talking and she interrupt him while he was talking to me and began yelling at the man about how he is not properly selling the packages to me,which was extremely unprofessional and rude. When I tried asking her about getting the membership, she was unpleasant to talk to, rude, and aggressive towards me and it put me in an extremely uncomfortable situation. When I told her I was going to check out other gyms and compare prices she rolled her eyes at me and walked away mumbling something under her breath which sounded like a negative, defamatory comment towards me about my weight. she was by far one of the nastiest people I have come across in the retail industry, so I went to Work our world and had no problem getting a membership and dealt with civilized, friendly people.
