Surge is the gym I have been looking for! It's personal training without paying $100+ per session. Their monthly fee is extremely reasonable, and you get 1-on-1 training with great trainers. Sergey, Sabri, and Ehab all care about your individual growth; they keep an eye on your form and push you to go further than you think you can, in a motivational, inspirational way. There's a great sense of community with everyone you work out with.

I had never worked out before starting with Sergey. I tried three trainers in the area, and he was the only one that didn't feel like he was trying to bullshit me. Other gyms wanted to "pair me with the right trainer" (who I wasn't allowed to meet beforehand). With Sergey, you know what you're getting, and you know that it's quality. I would highly recommend him.

I find Surge fitness to be the best gym in downtown JC. Great workouts in closed setting, lots of personal attention. This is not the place for cardio but if you really want to progress in weight lifting and cross fit, this is the place I highly recommend. Trainers are friendly and motivating. You don't feel lost after a while like in regular gym. The owner Serge is awesome. He is very knowledgeable, makes you feel comfortable and pushes you to your limits. He is an all time motivator. Nutrition and challenging workouts all at once place. Highly recommend!

The best gym I’ve been to in JC. Sergey, Ehab, and Sabri are a fantastic group of trainers. I’ve battled a back/hip injury for the past few years, I had it before starting at Surge, and they modify or adjust my workout to ensure I’m strengthening the muscles to prevent it accommodate it and from recurring.
Not to mention, the clientele is fun! You see the same regulars each week and I look forward to going to the gym.

Had my first session this morning and I can’t recommend this gym enough. If you're looking for an amazing workout, do yourself a favor and book a class with Ehab immediately!! He's hands down one of the best and most attentive instructors I've ever had the pleasure of working with. Coming from someone who was always intimidated by weight lifting and strength training in general, Ehab finds a way to make the entire session so fun and enjoyable. He was able to challenge me whenever I felt like giving up while at the same time still modifying the workout here and there to meet my personal needs and capabilities. I can't wait to work with him more in the future and 100% look forward to taking personal training sessions with him as well. Overall, awesome facility with top notch trainers. 10/10 recommend!! :)

not your typical gym. been working out most of my life needed to get back into it and these guys delivered all the trainers push you, but are also fun to work out with. I didn’t know anything about weight lifting and was a running/yoga/cycling person for years. There’s so much conflicting information on the internet about weight lifting and I felt confused and overwhelmed. I just wanted a gym that wasn’t crowded and a trainer to help me learn how to start and I literally walked by Surge fitness one day, liked the vibe, and decided to sign up. I’m still there 2 years later even though I’m way more familiar with weight lifting now. The gym has a good feel, and you never have to wait for a machine or a bench. Everyone is really supportive and the environment isn’t intimidating or ultra competitive, it just feels like working out with friends who push you just enough when you need it. I have a home gym also but I keep going here because I always get a harder workout and I make more progress at Surge fitness than I would alone.

I went to Surge Fitness without any experience of working out. I didn't even know how to do a proper squat! All the trainers were so friendly and patient. Unique and effective gym. Sergey and his staff have been helping me increase my muscle mass and change my body composition over the last eight months. My personal trainer for few weeks and he broke me down real good. I enjoyed every session and still follow him on fb. I joined surge fitness to gain weight in a healthy way and get fit. I spent 6 month at the gym with sergey and it was one of the best decisions i took. He helped me throughout with my diet plan and weekly workout plans. He was very experienced and helped me in all possible ways to push my limits. Sessions are in small group so, that way you will get better attention and learn to workout properly. I would definitely recommend this fitness center to anyone who want to gain or loose weight or get fit.

Have just completed my first three months at Surge Fitness and it's been incredible so far. The coaches are all attentive, experienced and ready to help. Small groups mean you get constant 1:1 attention from your coach, so you learn to do the exercises properly. They're GOING to push you to stretch your limits, but it is all done safely and with a solid sense of humor. Thanks Sergey!

Only lasted a week here. Two of my classes were canceled (including the very first one I signed up for). Facilities are far from impressive (you're in a basement with minimal equipment). I did like the trainer I spent two sessions with but for the $/month, it's hard to see why a membership here is worth it.

Let me tell you: I've been to a lot of gyms. I've done almost everything there is to do, from videos, to studio classes, and to actually going under different trainers over the years and it never felt quite right and the results weren't showing - it was frustrating and disheartening. So finally after all my gym hopping, Surge Fitness is where I'm at 4x a week and it's the best investment I could have ever made! The class size is small (6 max) and you will never be doing the same thing that everyone else is doing like ordinary studio classes. Sergey is that tough trainer that everyone really needs and one that I never had until now. Nutrition? He's got you covered. Injuries? He structures the workout to cater to any injuries or soreness or even medical concerns. And normally you would think, "Would I still be attended to if there's more people there?" Yes, you will be! Even with the other folks, you will still be getting his support and guidance and he will, emphasis on will, catch you if you are slacking, but really, it's that exact push you need for your no-nonsense workout! Be consistent and you will see the results you always wanted with Sergey and the trainers of this gym!

Sergey and his team ROCK!! This is personal training in a small group setting; no two people in class are doing the same workout. The totally chill environment and schedule flexibility are other huge perks. Why else are Sergey and his team unique? Easy. A strong background in and knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, nutrition, weight management - not just the current fads!! Thought you'd get to the gym at 6 but you're running late? Shoot him a text. No need to skip or reschedule! Sore or injured? OK. (And, yes, there's a good chance you can keep going to the gym!) If appropriate, Sergey and the trainers will structure a workout to prevent aggravating an injury while still making headway with your fitness goals. This is as low stress as a gym can be with workouts tailored to maximize your needs and progress.

I joined Surge Fitness as part of my new year resolution and I cannot be more happier. The classes are apt for people at any age group at any fitness level. Sergey teaches you the right technique and is always there to push you beyond your limits. I have had great results within 6 weeks into the program and I do not plan on stopping until my fitness goals are achieved. Each class has around 6 members to give each of them individual attention. Sergey also provides nutrition guidance, which I feel accounts to 80% of your results.

After attending Surge Fitness, I can easily say that the experience is worth it! The small class size makes it feel like you are in a personal lesson. Each trainer is also very helpful. I have tried a variety of workouts but this is the best I have found so far. Sergey is a taskmaster but gives you results. As they say "if you cry inside your gym you'll laugh outside of it". It's true to each word for Sergey and his team. My health, resistance, stamina have improved since I have started working out with Sergey. I have lost body fat and people are noticing the difference. They know what they are doing. They tailor the exercises to your needs, keeping in mind any medical issue you may have, with no judgements. The class sizes are perfect and they give personal attention to you all throughout. I love working out with Sergey, Elena and Menachem, although while working out I am cursing them all the time :)

The gym is no frills, and Sergey is the trainer you need to see consistent results. He personalizes circuits tailored to reach long-term goals and while a group session consists of four to five people, Sergey is very good about providing one-on-one attention to each of his clients. He gets the job done. After training like this, I don’t think I can ever go back to a regular gym. When I first started training with Sergey couple of years back, immediately he struck me as someone different from the rest of the trainers pack - he is not just another trainer who promise you if you lift heavy things your fitness goals will fulfill itself. Sergey emphasized on lifestyle and nutritions’ roles in achieving your fitness goals are just as important as working hard in the gym. He understands that in order to reach any fitness goals, it’s really life style adjust, much more than just the hours in the gym. This realization is so important in my later achievements in reaching my fitness goal, and really everyone’s body in most cases is a reflection of our life style.
Let’s talk about the workout. I mainly trained with him in 1-on-1 sessions, so I can speak more about that. He and other instructors like Elena will first take the time to understand your fitness goal, and then set paths for you to get there. They use many different styles of training, to me it’s mostly a mixture of HIIT and overall flexibility and core strength that we focused on. It can get challenging at times, but there was never a dull moment, it’s always a lot of fun working with Sergey and Elena.
To me Sergey is more like a coach than a trainer that can guide you in all aspects. Outside the gym, he will encourage you to send food pictures to him and get advise. I can’t remember how many times I received funny but really useful critics from him about my diet.
If you have what it takes to reach your fitness goal and stay fit and healthy, Sergey’s gym is a great choice.

I love love love this gym! Its actually my favorite, I have been a member at Base Gym in Jersey City for a while and was never satisfied with the group approach and large crowds, that opened the doors to many injuries. At Surge Fitness I am very happy with the trainers, the small group training and most with the personalized and individual approach during each class. Basically you are getting a group private training session, the trainers are all great, will motivate and push you. Now I am looking forward to my workouts!

I’ve gone to a ton of gyms, private trainers and workout classes. I was bored of my workouts and also have a few old injuries. When I was looking for a new place to workout, I came across Surge Fitness. I really didn’t want a Cross Fit type gym or a group class because of my injuries. The owner assured me that this wasn’t going to be like that.
After going there for about 5 weeks, I’m completely addicted and always look forward to going back. The workouts are customized just for you and nobody is doing the same workout. It’s personalized workouts in a very small group setting. There’s no competitiveness and everyone is on their own journey. I feel stronger since I’ve started and have less aches and pains throughout the day. The trainers are knowledgeable and experienced. They want you to get results in a safe, motivating environment. I never feel defeated when I leave and always look forward to coming back.

Sergey and Elena are wonderful trainers and are very focused on form. The small class size and individualized training separates this gym from the rest. I highly recommend if you are looking for results- no matter what your fitness goals are. I did not work out much before joining Surge Fitness and found it incredible what lifting weights can do for your body. I joined to become stronger and the results blew my mind! I started off as the weakest person in the group and was stronger than I ever imagined only 2-4 months later. The others in the classes are on their own program and are doing other exercises, so you are not comparing yourself/ competing with person next to you. The studio is beautiful and offers convenient class times.

Sergey and Elena have transformed me truly.. not only how I look but also how I think about fitness and workouts. Before starting here, I never felt I was capable of lifting more than 5lbs weights and was stuck doing different kinds of Zumbas and boot camps and spinning etc. They taught me to lift the mental restrictions and always pushed me to where I could have never ever dreamed. In few weeks I was doing squats holding 40-50 lbs and couldn't believe my mirror reflections. I dropped 3 dress sizes and have never felt better about myself.
If you're contemplating joining Surge, I would highly recommend just trying them out for few weeks and you'll surely get addicted! I never had to push myself to go there.. even if it meant waking up at 5 am to go for a 6 am class!

Firstly, I love love love Surge Fitness!! I started coming to Sergey about 6 months ago post giving birth. I joined with my fitness level at ZERO but I was very optimistic after hearing about him from a friend who looks amazing. Sergey very very very patiently guided me with my workouts, building my strength and stamina. He is also a sweetie pie who is not a typical boot camp type trainer. He wants you to see results and pushes you to achieve them. Lifting weights was something I could never imagine doing till I joined Surge.
Today, I am 40lbs, 15% body fat and many many many inches down. I will always be grateful to Sergey. He has changed my whole opinion about fitness and goals.

Surge Fitness is the place to be if you want to reach your fitness goals realistically!! I hit the Surge Fitness gym about 2 months back when my little one was just above an year and I wanted to be back in shape. Since then it has been downhill journey on the weighing scale and inches! Close to 11 pounds, 8-9 inches overall and body fat down by 4% in 2 months! And all this with no crash or hard diet.. just a little honesty, will power and lots of guidance from Sergey. With his help, I have seen a drastic improvement in my stamina and muscle strength! He has made me believe that losing weight and inches is an achievable goal!!
