Both of my daughters attend the Westfield location and have made great progress! My
Older daughter has had 3 birthday parties here and loves it. Coach T is one of the best coaches, she is friendly, caring, engaging, and truly loves what she does. All of the coaches are, even when not in their class, welcoming and look like they are having fun! I would recommend Surgent’s to anyone who asks me!

My daughter has been training at Surgents for 5 years now and has benefitted tremendously in and out of the gym. She is stronger, more confident and more disciplined. Savannah has helped her develop technical skills but even more importantly a love for gymnastics. My daughter has made great friends at Surgents and enjoys coming to each practice. My boys have also taken classes at Surgents and DJ and his staff even created a wrestling specific gymnastics class for them over the summer. My family's experience has been very positive and I highly recommend the gym to others.

We have had a great experience at Surgents gymnastics. My daughter and 4 boys have all trained at Surgents and benefitted from their great coaching staff. DJ and staff have been very helpful and accommodating to our family. We even had a wrestling specific gymnastics class this summer full of wrestlers. Highly recommend to anyone in the area.

We tried out several gymnastics gyms in our area and in the end, we are so grateful to have landed at Surgents for my daughter. We started with Tumbling summer camps and within a few days, my daughter had gained several skills that she was stuck trying to gain the year prior. The equipment allows for the athletes to grow and stretch their skills in a safe manner. We absolutely love Savannah who is our coach and the manager of the gym. She is supportive, dedicated, and holds the gymnasts to high standards. We also appreciate T and Eddie who are longtime coaches at the gym.
Surgents allows everyone to grow to their fullest potential in an environment that focuses on community and not only competition.

Local small business run by a single family for generations, providing Westfield and surrounding towns with a place to have fun, be active, and connect with local families. Surgents is particularly helpful for working families, providing evening classes, vacation care, and extended summer camp. They also have a gymnastics team that provides everyone an opportunity to compete. Coaches are kind, friendly, and have the children's best interest in mind. Our family has been with this gym for 9 years, and have done everything: rec classes, teams, camps, clinics, vacation care, and birthday parties--my children have always felt happy, safe, and most importantly had fun. Past reviews note that front desk is not friendly...sorry, this isn't Disney. The staff at the front always responds to me promptly, provides helpful information, and bills me correctly. Past reviews also complain about cleanliness....the gym is cleaned regularly...see how your place looks at the end of the day after 11 hours and 500 kids come through.

We have had a good experience at Surgents. The coaching is patient, safety‑focused, and incredibly encouraging, with my daughter’s coach (Coach T) in particular making every session both challenging and fun. She’s grown in skill and confidence, and the support from her teammates is genuinely uplifting—practice and competitions feel like one big cheering family. Is it perfect no, no place is perfect would love to see a bit of a facelift and deep cleaning (gotta keep my review real ) but as far as the important things like her coach and an amazing team my daughter is happy in a sport she loves and has made friends for a lifetime. Her Coach is not just someone who teaches her gymnastics she is a true mentor.

After reading a recent negative review, I felt compelled to share my own experience, as positive voices often get overshadowed. I hope anyone who read that review also takes a moment to read this one.
Surgent’s Gymnastics has been my daughter’s happy place for the past nine years. While every experience is different, I truly believe Surgent’s deserves a chance to positively impact another child’s life, just as it has done for ours.
Since joining, my daughter has built lasting friendships with girls from various towns, and every coach she’s had has been exceptional. They emphasize discipline, passion, and confidence, while showing that hard work really does pay off. The coaches are firm but compassionate, and I can personally attest that bullying is not tolerated.
I’ve watched my daughter walk into the gym after a tough day at school and come out smiling. Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours watching practices—especially when she was younger—and the bond these girls have with their coaches is something special. The bonding with each other at practices and competitions is like no other. The coaches treat the athletes like their own, supporting them not just with skills but also with personal challenges.
I’m truly grateful my daughter found this gym, and I hope others give Surgent’s the opportunity to make a difference in their child’s life too.

This gym is absolutely unacceptable. The facility is disgusting—things don’t get cleaned nearly enough. Parents have complained for months about blood smears on equipment and dirty bathroom stalls, yet nothing changes. The water fountain filters are long overdue for replacement, and there are constant ant infestations.
The coaching staff is unprofessional at best. I’ve seen coaches sitting on their phones during practices instead of actually coaching. Even worse, I’ve personally witnessed coaches taking items left behind by kids—things like Stanley cups and winter coats—without any accountability.
Bullying is another huge issue here. The gym claims to have a code of conduct and requires parents and athletes to sign a handbook, but it’s meaningless. Kids who bully are never held accountable, while the kids who are victims of bullying end up being punished instead.
Save yourself the stress and disappointment. This place does not care about its athletes, its families, or basic cleanliness and safety.

Pretty useless, at least for boys. Some coaches are not motivated, not engaged and not committed. Unfriendly and unpleasant frontdesk, like they are doing you a favor by talking to you. This school has some good coaches, but you really need to know who they are before selecting your class.
Not worth the $ spent

Flowers need to be given where they are deserved, I’ve had my children go here and never have I experienced the compassion from a Teacher like Valery. She can make a kid go from crying to laughing within a second. Her tough love makes the kids never feel afraid to try something new and she cheers them on when they fail so they’re never ashamed to try again. She takes time to greet us parents and even buys stickers with her own money for the kids. Ask anyone who has the chance to have Valery as a teacher she doesn’t disappoint. Were lucky to have had you as our teacher, your influence will stay with us forever!

Jolene is very unpleasant to talk to. I tried to call numerously during open hours, but no one replied, so I had to email. If she wants to reply to you, you will get an answer momentarily, and if she doesn't, she will simply not reply. She is unclear and not there to clarify the information for you. She sounds very unwelcoming and not nice. And it's not a one-time occurrence. I wouldn't want to bring back my child in the future in order not to have to deal with such a person. Lacks simple customer service skills

I went to watch our friend's daughters in a meet. They are members of the Surgent team. I was so impressed by DJ and his interaction with the girls. Supportive, with positive instructions and constructive criticism. He was attentive to every young lady present. Eric, his assistant, was as well. Totally impressed by this organization. If I had young daughters interested in gymnastics, no question, this where I would want them to be!

This past weekend I took my son to a birthday party for his classmate and all I can say is how impressed I was with the entire experience. My son is 4 years old and I’d have to say the instructor Gaby was amazing!!! There was about 15-20 4yr olds and the way she was so engaged with them and made sure they stayed on course while having a good time was astonishing! Even the kids that were a little shy she made feel comfortable, I will be signing my son up for classes in the fall next year!Thank you Gaby for our awesome experience!!!

My granddaughter had her birthday party at the Westfield Nj location and I must say it was not a pleasant welcoming for my family and friends who attended . The person that was suppose to be guiding the kids through the obstacles was very unprofessional and rude ( Gabby) never once did she smile or even interacted with the children , the music she played for the kids was so low no one can here what was playing ! She didn't even introduce herself to any of us , kids were having there cupcakes and she literally started cleaning up the table while the kids were still eating !!! This was so rude of her (Gabby) she's definitely not a people person and she should not be working in this field especially with children !! She looked so miserable !!! I even caught her sleeping on a mat right in front of everyone while we were singing Happy birthday smh !!! I had so many parents coming up to me complaining !!! For the money we spent there it was not worth it !!! So never ever again will I have any events her for my kids at this place ! Thumbs down !

My children have attended Surgents for over 10 years. The Mommy and Me classes were great when they were younger. Tricia made each class fun! My girls loved their recreational classes each week also as they got older. They loved working on the beam like the older team girls. Tricia & Virginia really encouraged my girls to try out for the competitive team. My daughters never give me a hard time about hitting the gym 4 days a week for practice. They love their team coaches! We were lucky to have some really amazing coaches over the years; Tricia, Virginia, Erica,
Tiara, Samir, Nicole and DJ. I recommend Surgents Elite all the time. DJ has such a wonderful philosophy of encouraging each gymnast to set their own pace with goals. Having a coach that is patient and supportive is vital! DJ and his team of coaches are like a family!

Es un buen lugar para practicar y aprender gimnasia.seria bueno que tuviesen alguna rutina de aseo en las superficies de práctica para disminuir un poco los olores a sudor que son obvios en estos lugares.

Extremely disappointed. Drove 25 mins and got my toddler all excited for the open gym that is listed on their website as occurring every Saturday night. Found the gym completely closed and empty. They must not update their website.

They take COVID precautions very seriously here and I love that. Wipe down mats after the kids used them and are only allowing one parent to attend tbeir children to limit the capacity of people. Teachers as always have all different kinds of teaching methods so it's nice to be able to choose which teacher fits best for yu

The receptionist, Denise, was extremely rude upon every encounter I experienced with her. On our 1st I counter she didn’t reply back when I initially greeted her and simply said “hello”. I was asking questions about the program being that this was my 1st time trying out gymnastics for my 2 year old and 5 year old sons, she was very vague with answering my questions. She acted as if she didn’t want to answer my questions at all. She treated me as if I was bothering her. Eventually, I requested a particular instructor because a close friend of mine told me that this instructor would work best with my 5 year old being that my son is somewhat shy. I asked the receptionist, Denise, can I request this instructor for my son and she said to me in a very impolite way “he won’t be here this summer”. She made it seem like I was bothering her just by being in her presence. However, I did give the facility a chance being that one of the instructor’s kids has been taking swimming lessons with my kids for years now. Once the summer program started, everything was very unorganized, one of my kids had a new instructor every week. The place was a crazy house with kids running around out of control everywhere. To top things off, the instructor I requested was there every week that I bought my kids to gymnastics. So Denise blatantly LIED to me about the instructor I requested. I would never re enrolled my kids in this facility again! I would definitely not refer or recommend this facility to anyone I know or anyone period! I dreaded the days I had to take the kids there and my kids weren’t too excited to go! I’m thankful that the session is over and we are now onto the next facility/activity that shows our family as a whole appreciation.

My daughter has a nightly class here and there is a terrible odor here that is progressively getting more pungent with each week. It can be described as stinky feet or locker room smell. Very unappealing to the point that parents, including myself need to step outside to catch our breath. Although I'm aware of this place being a gym type environment? I suggest lots of self spraying air fragrance emitters throughout the facility to at least mask the undesirable odor...

Don't bother having a party here the staff is terrible and all the providers just tables no food
The amount of money that you paying they should at least provide an option for food and cake that's the reason why people rent places like this so it's a no hassle
But it's a complete opposite so think twice
Good luck!

This is the email I received after I question my tuition, I want to share my experience and the email I sent them back after the email below:
Dear parents,
Attached is your April bill. It was due the first week of the month.
Effective next week 4/25/16 ,if your account balance is outstanding your child will be told they are not be allowed to attend class. This can be embarrassing situation. We wish to avoid this. Kindly make your tuition payment.
Thank you
THE FOLLOWING IS MY EXPERIENCE AND MY EMAIL AS A RESPONSE
Good Morning to whom it may concern:
At this point and as a parent of two of the student of your school of the Roselle Park, I will like a name and direct phone number of the person in management of the Roselle Park facility. Also I spoke to a lady from the Westfield office whom promise to have someone call me back after I explained to her in detail an issue that I had over the phone with Reid.
First of all there was a misunderstanding in the monthly tuition. From there I had to have Reid explained to me how I had understand one amount and the monthly tuition was about $20.00 more per each of my kids, that is 40.00 more per month then I had budget myself. By the way who ever wrote this email to me should understand that to me it is not embarrassing to question how my tuition in my understanding it went up in price but regardless it was paid.
Second of all, as far as costumer service your email was very unprofessional and it can be clearly threatening to anyone whom might have questions about their monthly tuition.
Third of all no one has to this day returned my call in regards to my complaint about the treatment, harassment and deceitfulness I have received from Reid. Therefore since it will take very long and it can be misunderstood I will not be sending my kids to your school.
The reasons for my discontentment with your school is for all of the above alrady mentioned. Also including the fact that Reid instruct my husband I'm quoting Reid, "YOU CAN NOT BRING TO THE KIDS TO THEIR CLASS UNTIL THE BALANCE IS PAID IN FULL"
Therefore we did not bring the kids to the school, at this point we were two weeks into April. When I had my conversation with Reid and I made the rest of the payment over the phone, during this conversation I had informed Reid I will wait until May to bring the kids back to their regular schedule and I asked him to give me the phone number of management or the phone number of the Westfield facility because I was discussed of the way Reid was handling the phone call and I had asked him to just take the payment and to stop talking to me because of his way of him speaking to me. Then for the first time he then informed me of something completely opposite to his instructions to my husband. Reid then said to me, well you can bring them for the next two weeks and you can have them make up classes at other times. At this point I really don't want to deal with Reid, so I made my payment and went to call the Westfield facility, left a message and I did receive a call, explained to I believe her name was Sarah. The lady I spoke to then said to me that someone was gong to be calling me back and like I mentioned above, no one has called me back and instead i received this email. Which by the way I am not embarrassed to question my tuition when I was informed of one amount and then I trying to be charge something else. As a parent who is paying it is my RIGHT to ask and question any thing I might not be clear about.

Good school. My kid took took a break for semester and now keeps bugging me to go back to gymnastics. They have excellent instructors Mario and Barbaro. Management stuff is very good. If you have any concerns or not happy with something, Steve Surgent is pretty good with trying to accommodate you.
