We love ADA! My daughter moved from a competition dance studio to ADA last year. She loves ballet and wanted to learn more pointe. She is learning an incredible amount while also continuing to enjoy learning contemporary and modern. She loves the focus the students have during class and the support of the teachers and goals they have for their dancers. I wish we moved sooner. ADA is a treasure of talented professionals and wonderful performance opportunities!

I was looking for a tap dance class for adults. I found the ADA and it’s been a good experience. They helped me sign up to the right level, gave me a free trial class to test it out. The staff is very nice, the studios are big and clean, and the teacher is very experienced. I’ve been tapping in NYC…was delighted to find a good tap dance place in Monmouth County👍

I have attended classes here occasionally for well over ten years. I wish I could come here more. It is a wonderful place to take classes, and it’s great that the adult program operates on a “drop in” schedule. Great option for folks who can’t commit to a long class series. But it’s a great option for anyone, really - the teaching staff is top notch.

Taking a mini intro tap dancing class. Came back to me like riding a bike (haven’t tapped in a looong time)! So nice to have a local academy offer adult classes vs having to trek into NYC. Check out their class schedule. Something for everyone. Staff is super nice. Enjoy!

ADA is amazing. I haven't danced since college and I needed a place for adults that have to dance and this place was close to me and had that opportunity. When I first started a class I was amazed with how out of shape I was but there was no judgment and the teachers are so sweet and willing to help you. I highly recommend this place for dance for adults and children if needed and if you are a beginner dancer or in advanced dancer. At or needing to get in shape again. I look forward to coming back to my next class especially if you live in the Monmouth county area.

Academy of dance arts is the best studio for pre/post professional ballet training in monmouth county. As a former professional dancer, I have enjoyed their adult ballet class for years. And now my daughter is enjoying classes that are giving her the foundation she will need to hopefully dance professionally as well. The icing on the cake is the feeling of joy in the air at the studio. The staff and students are just so happy to share their love of dance with each other. It's a special place!

I can't tell you how much I adored the adult contemporary dance class. I have not taken a class in 15 years. Jess made me feel comfortable. I felt energized after... I cannot wait to go next week... Thank you!!!
I'm also gonna be taking a modern class. But if those aren't your thing they have other classes... you need to check it out. If you're looking for a good adult class ADA is the place to go.💜💜💜

ADA is the standard for pre-professional ballet training. My daughters have been at ADA for 7 years and are current students in the full-time program. Their dancing has improved by leaps and bounds (jetes? sorry...), a lot of which is attributable to their hard work but frankly, the instruction and support they've received from the instructors at ADA have been critical to their growth as dancers. Not only have they greatly improved their technique but the ADA training has truly fostered a passion for dance and contributed to their growth as young girls, teaching them good work habits, instilling in them a quiet confidence and showing them the value of dedication, perseverance and consistency. The program is a great mix of class and individualized instruction plus opportunities for performances like spring showcase, spring production at Count Basie, summer intensive (extravaganza), YAGP and The Nutcracker. Our girls are in studio on average about 6 days a week. They LOVE it and never complain about yet another day at ADA. Finally, our girls' dance friends are like sisters to them. Beyond providing a safe and supportive environment in which to learn dance, ADA has created a family-type atmosphere--our girls' dance friends are their best friends, and we are close with many of the other parents. It's a wonderful community.

I'm an adult ballet student who's trained at ADA for many years. Everything about it is excellent, in particular, the quality of the teachers, their attention to each student, the rigor of the training, and the owners' and staff's caring about everyone's well being during Covid.

I had the great fortune to receive my ballet training at The School of American Ballet. When one of my children expressed a love for ballet and decided she wanted to pursue serious ballet training, it was quite a search to find a school that provided very high quality technical training with a positive and supportive atmosphere that encouraged each student to achieve their best and find resilience in their struggles. Our search stopped the moment she took a class at The Academy of Dance Arts. The faculty is outstanding and truly care about the well being of each student at ADA. They foster an environment of excellence. Their curriculum includes classes in contemporary and modern and most importantly, conditioning programs that help the dancers to avoid injury. The performance opportunities and summer intensive programs with guest faculty rival any that you would see in the top pre-professional training programs in the country. We cannot recommend ADA more for students who love ballet and families that want their child to receive dance education from faculty that care about their child as a person and who will work tirelessly to help them achieve their goals.

I came to the Academy seeking more rigorous after school training and a more professional environment to grow as a dancer. That is exactly what I got, and more! Although I joined when I was 15, I never felt like an outsider, and I always felt like I was a part of a family. I have since graduated, and I am extremely grateful that I am always welcomed back with open arms, whether it is to take class or reconnect with staff. I wouldn't be the dancer I am today without ADA!

This is a wonderful dance school! There are so many classes offered that it works for both the serious dancer as well as for the recreational dancer. Proper alignment is taught with care and attention to each dancer. Very knowledgable teachers in all the facets of dance including ballet, modern, contemporary, stretch, pilates and more. Great opportunities for performing are integrated into the program without taking any time away from class training. We have found our studio for my serious dancer.

I can't believe how great Academy of Dance Arts has been for my 8 year old daughter's dance education! I thought this was another dance school that focuses on dance competitions, it is Not. My daughter has learned so much more than I ever imagined un a short time. ADA focuses on technique and form yet it is still fun. My daughter was chosen for 3 parts in the Nutcracker Ballet at Count Basie Theater and this is her first year of ballet! I was amazed❤.
If you are looking for a great Ballet School with a great staff Academy of Dance Arts is a top choice.

As a former professional dancer and a current participant in the Adult ballet classes, I have found the Academy of Dance to be an exemplary school both for the pre-professional student and the recreational dancer. There is a strong sense of encouragement, respect and support of the individual student, regardless of ability, while maintaining strong standards in relation to the Dance arts. The Western Monmouth County area is indeed fortunate to have this school in its cultural and educational environs.

I never understood the link between ballet and academia until my daughter performed in the Company of Dance Arts’ “Nutcracker”. She was in the 3rd grade and was assigned the role of a ‘mini mouse’. Initially, I had the impression it was a relatively simple part without much thought involved. I soon came to realize it was quite the opposite.

When asked about her role of a mouse, she described it in detail. "We listen for the clock, and as it strikes, the mice run onto the stage." Sounds straightforward but it isn’t. The mice don’t run onto stage haphazardly, there is a science to the choreography. While the clock is striking, they enter in timed succession. For this to take place, dancers need to pay close attention to what is happening. Key word being: attention. Attention was not always my daughter’s strongest suit. In school, she was super social, very chatty but struggled to pay attention. When performing in a show like the Nutcracker paying attention is not optional. Everyone has to pay attention or the show could be disastrous.

There is the belief that all sports and activities increase chidrens’ attention spans. Which I believe is practically axiomatic. However, there is a key element in dance training which does not carry over to sports. That being the music. Music provides a platform in which dancers are able to synchronize their movements with finely tuned precision. This synchronization enhances performance and musicality becomes second nature.

After literally one Nutcracker season, my daughter’s performance in school improved significantly. She became more organized and prepared. Her listening skills sharpened and she was more alert in the classroom. She started to really pay ‘attention’.

I was thrilled to see this change and will be forever grateful to ADA for teaching her this valuable skill. It was life changing across the board and has continued, along with her passion for dance.

As an alum of The Academy of Dance Arts and a current professional dancer with American Ballet Theatre, it brings me great joy to see the high level of ballet training offered at the school and how much students grow from year to year when I come back to teach. Students are given wonderful opportunities to learn from current and former professional dancers, have beautiful studios to dance in, and are given fantastic performance opportunities throughout the year. Knowledgeable teachers, dedicated students, and a nurturing environment!! Proud to say that I come from ADA and that it’s the place that gave me the foundation for not just my ballet career, but also taught me lessons that have helped me outside of the studio!

I am a working professional ballet dancer with American Ballet Theatre and was asked by directors Shayne and Nick to dance in the school’s summer performance. I was so impressed by the facilities and the classes being offered at the school. (They have an entire studio dedicated to Pilates and GYRO equipment!) Shayne and Nick are both incredibly kind, easy to work with and very well connected. These students are so lucky!

My daughter was attending classes at Kathryn Barnett School of Dance until I pulled her out and brought her to this school. She was miserable at Kathryn Barnett however after just one class here at the Academy of Dance Arts I could tell that she truly never lost her love for dancing. she is taught by Mrs. Julee Merrill who is a wonderful teacher and is great with the children. my daughter has learned so much in her last 3 classes at this school, more than she learned in 4 months (over 12 classes) at Kathryn Barnett. I highly recommend this dancing school!
