I am a 53 year old woman who decided I need to start exercising. Started in February 2025 taking Monday turn up class and loved it. Could keep up and when I could physically do a move just keep moving. Alicia was a fantastic teacher. Went every week faithfully. Now all of her classes have been canceled and I don’t know what I will be doing? Very disappointed in the aquatic center for taking away the one thing I enjoyed. Very disappointed.

The Turn Up dance fitness class taught by Alicia unLEESHed a different love for myself in the most positive way possible. From day one, Alicia welcomed me into her space and allowed me to rekindle my love for dance. Although I have taken very limited hip-hop style classes I learned to be confident and let my body flow to the rhythm of the music. The class helps me maintain consistency during my fitness journey while also being enjoyable and something to look forward to during the week when i just need to decompress.

To hear that this class was removed from the group fitness schedule was very disappointing. It was one of the only classes that was geared towards everyone including younger members as it incorporates a new generation of style and music. I feel that lately many of the classes have been focused on more senior crowds and there are limited evening classes that inspire the next generation of members.

First time here, close to home, huge, spacious, clean, friendly staff, very family oriented, life guards, affordable, also has a huge gym, I will probably get a membership to come year round!!! Everyone is spaced out, they have a separate pool area for the kids & families to enjoy & a lap pool for those who are more advanced swimmers!!! 🏊‍♀️ take advantage of what’s in your community it is definitely worth the visit!!! My husband has been a member of Aquatics gym for almost 6 months and have generally had a good experience. However, I recently had an unpleasant interaction with a front desk employee her name is Umma who was unprofessional and rude. When I requested not to interact with her regarding my ID check because I have a guest pass , she insisted on interfering unnecessarily. And during our conversation, she even dismissed me by saying, “too much talking,” as if like to shut up which was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful.
However I want to acknowledge Amanda, who was incredibly kind and professional. She handled the situation with patience and respect, which I truly appreciated. It’s employees like her who make a positive difference. I hope management ensures that all staff members provide the same level of courtesy and professionalism as Amanda.

The gym is in a perfect location, with clean swimming facilities and friendly front desk staff who always greet you warmly. The equipment is generally in good condition, but there’s a significant issue with the cycle spinning classes. We have excellent instructors, especially Nick, who are truly motivating. However, the gym has let them down—more than 10 bikes have been broken for months. Now, as we start the new year, we’re down to just four bikes.

Despite repeated promises from management that new bikes are on the way, nothing has changed in over six months. It’s frustrating because many of the broken bikes could easily be repaired; for some, it’s just a missing pedal. Instead of waiting endlessly, why not take the broken bikes to a repair shop or bring someone in to fix them? The constant delays and unfulfilled promises are incredibly disappointing.

Joined about a month ago. Just found out about it. Nice staff. New equipment. Wi-Fi a little spotty. Good hours. Nice big pool. Plenty of rooms upstairs for classes. I have been going to this place more than an year. Today, I had a very bad experience with trainer and he said you can walk out the door, it's very unprofessional to talk to members like that. And site director Elaine Hausner is not helpful and unprofessional. There are ways to talk to members politely. The management train there staff on dealing members.

I see an improvement on treating the members by staff. Bumping the rating as it's clean and as the management keep updating the equipment.

Joined this facility specifically for the aquatic center/ pool. My previous pool/gym recently closed, unfortunately. After my first and only visit found their women’s locker room/ showers absolutely disgusting. Shower tiles were filthy and mold infested. Took pictures, called and left detailed messages for the aquatic supervisor and facility manager in order to make them aware- received no call backs. Canceled my membership, still no call back. The aquatics center is part of the school for the disabled, it’s disturbing to know this facility is so very dirty.
There is potential there to be a decent facility, just too bad no one seems to care.

someone took my towel and glasses and l find it somewhere my towel with someone bag but my glasses on the floor , l understand is my responsibilities but l don't like the staff how to handle the situation. After shower l went to the front desk and ask the staff to talk about the situation only thing she said manager is not here . After I learned RWJ Old Bridge was closing I wasn’t sure where to go.

I’m glad I signed up for The Aquatics & Fitness Center. Staff is extremely friendly, site is very clean and Chis is an amazing and motivating Personal Trainer. Also, can’t complain of the price.

With the increase of members I know it will
take time to make adjustments to amount of equipment and adding classes to accommodate.

Only cons that I see needing improvement:

- Increasing classes and setting a max number of people to a class. I took a Core class on a Saturday and was up against the wall and very close to another member. Was afraid of bumping into her.

- More bundle options for Personal Training. Right now you can only buy month to month and sessions expire that month. If options were offered for more sessions with a longer shelf life I would totally buy it.

- Pilates: loved that RWJ offered everything in one spot for me. Made it convenient for my schedule. Anyways would be great to get reformers but there’s no knows space at the gym that could have a private area for it. At minimum a floor Pilates group class would be wonderful.

It's borderline impossible to get a swim lesson set up here. You can't call them directly, they use a separate company for it I guess? And the company tells you to check their website and sign up for a tryout, except there's never any tryouts available. I've spent 3 weeks trying to get my kid a swim lesson here, I'm officially giving up and looking elsewhere. If you're looking for a swim lesson, I have to suggest that you don't waste your time trying to get it here.

Edit: Just lowered my review from 3 stars to 1. After I left this initial review, I was contacted to schedule a swim lesson tryout on September 6th (today). We waited for a month for this try out, and I was cancelled on day of because the pool is "under maintenance". When I asked how long it would be under maintenance, I was told that they would not give me a time frame. So, really this time - don't bother with this place.

This place has so much potential if it was managed correctly! I have tried reaching out via email, phone calls, and leaving messages with the front desk and it has been WEEKS and no return communication whatsoever! The staff working the desk is no help and the site director, Jeffrey Stair, is "unreachable." I have made MANY attempts before leaving this review and nothing has changed. I used to frequent the pool often because I have two children with special needs. On MANY occasions the pool would be closed for various reasons with no warnings ahead of time. Lifeguards would be dropped off by their parents late so the pool would not be able to open until they got there which I have waited up to 30 minutes with 2 screaming kids. When the "change" took place I thought a lot of these kinks would get worked out but boy was I wrong. The new staff is WAY WORSE, they do not care about the patrons at all and it shows. On August 8, 2023 I called the aquatic center that afternoon to CONFIRM the pool was open (because I had learned from past experiences) and explained to them that I was bringing in my 2 little girls with special needs and needed to make sure it was all ok etc. I packed the girls up, prepared them with visuals, and drove there, unloaded everything (and boy is this a project) only to get to the desk and be told the pool is closed. Yet an hour ago it was fine?! My girls are 3 and 5 and do not understand and are in COMPLETE MELTDOWNS as the receptionist saw for herself. This is CRUEL, just ROTTEN. My kids thought they were being punished! This is not my first experience like this either. It was awful. I asked for call backs to discuss how things are being handled so not just special needs children, but all guests do not have to go through this and NO ONE CARES. The employees are the way they are because management is the SAME WAY! Of course things "come up" but there are PROPER WAYS to handle them - I had suggestions like notifying updates on facebook or when you used to make reservations sending out an automated message etc but my suggestions are unheard. This place is a real joke and it's sad because it could bring joy to so many. I will NEVER go back here ever and NEVER recommend it. I also like to comment that as other reviewers had mentioned about the swim lessons - no one getting back to you - I had that SAME EXPERIENCE as well. The owners of the aquatic center are quick to reply that the negative reviews should go on the Freedom Aquatics page but the fact is the AQUATICS CENTER CHOSE TO COLLABORATE WITH THEM and they should take responsibility. The other reviews are EXACTLY my experience! I will share this experience with others so they don't waste their time like I have. STAY AWAY!!!!

This facilities customer service is awful. Also buyer beware, i went there for pool only and got I free month, couple days pool was open rest most of the days pool was closed. Only 2 times i used the pool, never use gym which I didn’t like it and they charge me for whole month for September which I didn’t want their service being not satisfied. I will never go back. Once one of the staff told me that we can’t use swimming boards in kids pool...And we can use it only in big pool in any line which isn’t crowded
My daughter is TWO YEARS OLD and she wanted her in a big pool?! Really?!
And by the way the same time other kids use this boards in kids pool with their coaches ?!
I couldn’t understand this!
So the staff don’t give you a chance to teach your babies by yourself ONLY WITH THEIR COACHES!
Waste of money!!!

Had my son's 7th birthday party here and I must say, all the kids loved it. The kids spend like and hour in the pool and lazy river, quick shower, then kickball/ soccer in the gym for a bit, then pizza and cake in the party room. My grandson goes to summer camp here and he loves it. They obviously keep him very busy with the various activities, including outdoor sand indoors. By the time he gets home he's exhausted and falls asleep quickly. The staff is young and do a good job with the kids. One day I picked up my grandson, the counselor told me that my grandson was stung by a bee. The counselor explained to me how he was treated for the bee sting and that his mother was notified immediately. When picking up the children adults have to show ID and sign their name on an iPad. Very organized and thorough. The grounds and the building are beautiful and very well kept with ample parking I did not give it four stars because I have not toured or seen the entire building and grounds.

Irresponsible staff. Unsupervised children. I arrived for the first time to pick up my niece from before care and I walk up find staff at a picnic area, which is at over 50 ft away from playground, not even looking in the direction of the children. They are all too busy talking to care what's going on in the playground. They barely acknowledge me, I see my niece and as she approaches I see she has been crying. Do not bring your children here, they will not be supervised properly. I called the Superintendent of the Educational Services of NJ to file a complaint.

It is very amazing. And everyone is so polite. As my brother goes here since its a part of his school, many people knew him there. And the basketball hoops were amazing. And my friends loved it here. I don't know why there are some 1 star reviews. This place is the best. I even think about getting a membership so I can come every weekend with my friends :D. And in the summer I can even come anytime in the summer time. :D! I especially love the park near it. My brother and my autistic friend loved the swings the most. I hope they don't change a thing! :D

For swim class this was absolutely horrible. My daughter is a beginning swimmer and was placed in the Pikes class 2 times a week for 6 weeks at 30 minutes each. That's a total of 12 classes. Of those 12 classes, she had 6 different instructors. Since there was no consistency, she felt unsafe in the water. By the end of the 6 weeks this group was still doing the same things they did on the first class because no one knew what to do. This was a waste of money and I am sad that my daughter is still feeling unsure of herself in the water. I will not be returning here and do not recommend the swim classes here.

Very disappointing! I spoked to a young lady last Friday regarding swim classes for my 2 1/2 yr old, she informed me the new class session started the next day and to come in to start. Well i went the next am. Just to be told the classes has been filled and the receptionist (Shay) wasnt sure why i was told this.it was heart breaking to see my daughter tug on my leg to start swimming lessons. A bit worn out, pool needs work. Staff fine, birthday party was nice. This place caters to autistic and special needs adults, so prepare your kids for it. Lots of yelling, some acting out and other emotional behaviors. My 6 year old didn't notice, but my 9 year old was frightened by invasions of her personal space. Honestly, she was uncomfortable.

We had a birthday party there. The pool is nice for the kids. They liked the mini lazy river the most. We ordered pizza through them and it was pretty good, from a local pizza place. They supplied the plates and cups too. For the cake we had the ice cream cake. They had it ready with wording on it already. So we really only had to worry about the parents. If you have a party here, you might want to bring food and drink for parents. The only downside was our kid left a towel, a good one of course, and when we went to retrieve it, it was gone. But beyond that the kids had a good time and no mess to clean up 😊
