The Center for human Nutrition, Exercise and meTabolism (NExT) at the Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health at Rutgers University brings researchers together who are interested in optimizing health via lifestyle interventions that include proper nutrition and exercise. The main aims of the center are to improve metabolism and body composition, bone strength, cardiovascular and muscular fitness, maximize growth, and mitigate the decline in function associated with aging. We represent the next generation of human nutrition and exercise health promotion in a university setting, using state of the art methods to conduct the highest quality research and promote the highest standard of care.

I did my VO2max assessment here this week. It was excellent, and I highly recommend to anyone wanting to do this test! After several months of endurance training, I wanted to get my VO2max measured to figure out if I needed to adjust my training or not. Melvin conducted my test, and he was great! Before the test we discussed what the test measures, the different stages of the test, getting used to the equipment, etc. Melvin answered all my questions, and carefully walked me through the data and my results right after. The equipment is also really cutting edge, the mask is much slimmer and comfortable fit, and the treadmill is excellent (so you can really focus on giving maximal effort). I had done a VO2max test before with much bulkier equipment, and this test was much better. Overall I highly recommend!

Excellent place for doing all your assessments - staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming! I worked with Melvin and he went above and beyond explaining and demonstrating all the assessments and at the end went over the assessments. Would highly recommend this place!

I recently had a baby and was interested in doing the bodpod for a body assessment. Melvin was extremely nice and explained everything in detail in regards to what to expect. I really liked the fact that he took time to assess my results after the test was over.

Excellent experience with the Aerobic Cardio Exercise Class. The facility is clean and well equipped. The instructor Melvin is very knowledgeable and helpful. He uses various training program to extend my limit and also make it fun. Everyone in the class are nice and enthusiastic.

Morgan was awesome at explaining, setting up, and conducting my VO2 and Lactate Threshold tests. He clearly explained everything prior to my arrival and on the morning of my appointment. He was super friendly and encouraging throughout the test and the summary report at the end was especially useful for guiding my training going forwards. Would definitely recommend athletic performance testing at the Rutgers NEXT Center!
