My 3 kids have been attending United Black Belt Academy in Allendale for the past month. They are new to martial arts but are picking it up very quickly thanks to the amazing teaching of Master Lee and Master Holmgren! Not only do they learn proper technique for punching and kicking, they are learning focus and coordination. I would strongly recommend giving it a try.

I can’t recommend UBBA more. My son started when he turned 3 and has been coming for almost a year now and he still loves coming. The masters are all great. I started taking my son here a few weeks ago. He is a really, really shy 4 year old who has been struggling with his confidence so I had low expectations when it came to him participating in the class. He has totally come alive in these classes and fully participates the entire time with no tears. He’s even raising his hand to volunteer. His confidence and self esteem are through the roof. I have two kids enrolled in tiny tigers and they absolutely love it. Master Lee is a patient, kind teacher and has paced the class in such a way that both my kids feel comfortable joining as beginners. The class extends into the home with weekly “commitment charts” that allow us to hold them accountable to good behavior that supports Master Lee’s class lessons. We love this place.

We LOVE THIS PLACE! We have been here since before the change over from Holmgren’s and my son just LOVES taekwondo and Master Lee! Master Holmgren is so so kind and encouraging. My son has learned so much from him so far. Now with the change over to United Black Belt Academy, I was worried my son would not react well to change. Instead, he is learning even MORE and continues to show excitement before, during and after class.

He loves Master Lee’s energy, the new moves, guidelines and terminology. He enjoys the music, commandments and commitment checklist at home to keep him honest. He is committed whole heartedly and I’m so glad my son (6 years old) found something he loves. Thank you Master Lee for making this transition seamless!

Our girls have been attending for several years two times a week. We all love Mr. Holmgren and the Academy. The place is well run, clean and Mr. Holmgren is so kind and encouraging. We just had a birthday party here and it was great. Everyone had fun! I highly recommend Mr. Holmgren's classes to people all ages! I also recommend this facility for birthday parties!

I've known Marty (Mr. Holmgren) for like 20 years. He's the reason I stuck with karate for so long as a kid. He's encouraging and understanding to all students, regardless of ability. He's a great teacher and knows how to best motivate and critique each student. His classes are fun and exciting. Karate was a great way to stay active and learn some discipline as a child. It's not about fighting; it's about discipline. I encourage anyone looking for an athletic outlet for their kids (boys and girls!) To give this place a try.

Marty and his instructors are top notch! If you are looking to help your kids stay active or stay fit yourself, Holmgren's has a great balance of fun, fitness and serious martial arts. Marty has been instructing my son for 10 years. Marty is, without a doubt, the most influential teacher my son has ever had in any subject! He does not just teach physical skills but helps students understand discipline, etiquette, and is a incredibly positive role model. His teaching style is fun, and inventive so the kids really enjoy being there. I can't say enough positive things about the instructors at Holmgren's, just go and see for yourself.
