My 13 year old recently caught the fever. He played with me for a few months, but I don't have the skill set to teach him to avoid the bad habits I learned over my years of average golf playing. I found Up to Par golf one day while at the range, and was a bit skeptical as many places say they are golf pros, only to find out, the certs and the skills aren't there. Chris, the owner, is a PGA card holder and is USGFTA certified. He is communicative and runs his operation openly and efficiently. My son has had 3 lessons with Joe, who was a PGA card holder before he retired and is currently USGFTA certified. The change in his game after only 3 lessons is amazing! He talks to him like an adult but breaks down all facets of his game in terms he can relate to and apply. My son is eager and looking forward to each 30 minute lesson when he sees Joe,. The improvement in his game, where I often found myself floundering to articulate "how to" , has him excited for each round. This small operation has the resources necessary to conduct year round training indoors and out. Joe has over 40 years of experience in teaching golf and it shows! The price is extremely affordable compared to other "pros" out there. If you just started, or have been playing for years, I encourage to call Chris at Up to Par golf. I recently had two 30 minute sessions with Chris Nelson. He fixed my driver in 20 minutes and then gave me a 10 minute bunker lesson that helped me understand how to make a basic bunker shot. He did all this in our first lesson… Chris then helped me understand the basics of my swing in our second session….His friendly easy going approach made it so easy to understand and execute simple changes that have made a big impact on my game… I actually hit my lowest score ever in a 9 hole twilight league hours after my second lesson with Chris…. I started coming here in February. I recently got into golf again this winter. Took a year or two off, but my previous best score was a 95. Before coming to Chris, I was shooting around 105-110. I’ve had 4 lessons with him so far and keep in contact with him whenever I play a round or go to the range. Today, I shot a 91, my best score ever. Up To Par Golf is the perfect school for golf lessons! I’ve only done 2 lessons with coach Danny and I already see improvements with my swing. Coach Danny is super nice, patient, and very knowledgeable. I’m learning a lot from coach Danny and look forward to more lessons. Another part I like about Up To Par Golf is they offer packages where I can practice my short game and also go on the course (for an hour) and learn. Coach Danny is also flexible with scheduling lessons. My goal is to have fun while learning the game and I found a school that can help me in that process.

I got back into golf about a year ago, after about 10 years of not playing at all. Prior to that, I had only played very casually and never had any lessons or training.

Once I started playing last year, I was shooting 120+, but was totally hooked. After about 6 months of watching YouTube videos, but not seeing any improvement, I decided to try some lessons.

I started with a three pack of lessons with Chris and after those initial three, I added on an additional package of three more standard lessons plus a short game lesson and a playing lesson (which he discounted an additional 10% for being a returning customer).

Since I started the lessons I have improved from always shooting over 120, to hovering right around 90. Couldn't be happier with the improvement I've seen in just a few short months and I'm confident that as I get in more practice implementing what I have learned that I could easily be pushing to break 80 in the not to distance future.

Chris is a super friendly and I've really enjoyed how each lesson just builds on little things I can do better rather than some all at once overhaul. He also provides post lesson recaps with video commentary and videos of drills to work on as well.

Would highly recommend Up To Par for anyone looking into lessons, particularly if, like me, this is your first time doing so.

As a former Wall Sreet Executive, I'm accustomed to getting results, I can tell you that if in fact your interested in learning how to play golf properly or fixing what you are not doing correctly, Chris is the person you should see. I've been playing golf for over 20 years and have spent thousands on instructions all over the country. I have had only lessons and I am able to hit the ball in the air and straight. Lenny made some minor adjustments I my stance and ball position. I am using hybrid clubs and Lenny explained the difference in ball placement as well as the correct way to hit the ball with a hybrid. I am enjoying my lessons and now I enjoy going to the driving range. I still have a long way to go as a beginner.

Both of my kids had a wonderful lesson with Coach Matt. It was my 14 year old daughters first lesson and she was swinging beautifully by the end; making contact, and hitting well. My son has been with Coach Chris for a couple of years and he also really enjoyed his lesson with Coach Matt. My boys (11 and 13) have loved going to the driving range for a while now but would get frustrated with themselves when they struggled to hit the ball right or far enough. I found Up To Par Golf on a local Facebook forum. I emailed them to set up lessons and Chris got back to me right away and answered all my questions. Chris elevated my game ten-fold! I was struggling with a swing that was too steep resulting in off-center contact. Chris was able to quickly identify and remedy my swing faults the first lesson. He also provided video analysis and swing stats with SkyTrak. Chris has any easy way about his teaching, focusing on fundamental swing keys that I’ve found easy to take from practice range to the golf course. I couldn’t even hit a golf ball so I decided to get lessons. When I was doing my research I saw up to par golf and all the great reviews and decided to give it a shot. My instructor is Link and immediately after one lesson I felt more comfortable with a golf club in my hand. After a couple of lessons I was able to play a round a golf and I was surprised I was able to translate what I learned from Link on the course. Entering my 5th year of golf I finally decided to take some lessons. After looking into some local instructors I decided to book with Chris. He’s a fantastic teacher, a great guy, and easy to talk to. Over the past season I took 5 lessons with him and the results have been unbelievable. Still have to put in the work at the range / at home but.. I’ve taken close to 10 strokes off my game, my slice is gone and overall I am playing with a confidence I’ve never had before. I played my first round of golf since the covid crisis at cedar Creek. They had things worked out quite well as far as safety goes. The course was in better than expected condition possibly because of the lack of play. Overall I was very pleased with the experience.

Chris is an amazing instructor! I have been playing golf for years (unfortunately self taught) not terrible but not great either! I had finally hit a wall where I didn’t even want to play anymore because I didn’t know what my next shot was gonna be like. I finally said that if I was gonna keep playing this game that I was gonna need some help. My golf buddies (whom I have recommended that they all come see Chris lol) all said “an instructor is going to cost too much, take too much time, break you down and start you all over yada yada yada” . Well thank god I didn’t listen to them! I have taken only 5 -30 minute lessons with Chris and the results are amazing!!! He evaluated me and my swing has tweaked it where it needed to be tweaked and my god I have fallen in love with the sport all over again! Chris Nelson of Uptopargolf at cedar creek golf club is an excellent golf instructor. As senior citizens learning to play the game for the first time, my wife and I had the good fortune to work with Chris. He used his knowledge of all aspects of the sport to take us from beginners to confident players with a package of lessons. Chris is highly professional, personable, and flexible with scheduling. I had 6 lessons, and I started out as a complete beginner. He provided a thorough analysis, including video, and gave me tips and feedback as well as ideas for practice in between lessons. I purchased a package of individual lessons from Up To Par Golf and cannot be happier with the results. I explained to the instructor, Chris, the problems that I was having with my game, and recorded several of my swings. He analyzed my swing right there in front of me, and then the process started. We worked on many fundamentals with the swing throughout the weeks and finished off with a lesson on chipping and putting. A few weeks later, continuing to practice what I learned, I have shaved an average of 15 strokes off of my game, and find myself getting par on more holes each game. I see constant improvement, and expect further progress to continue.

For those who are looking into taking lessons, listening and practicing what you are told will help you learn what you need to from Chris and Up To Par Golf. I extend my personal recommendation for those seeking lessons. Thanks again Chris!
