Urban Sadhu Yoga is a modern integrated Yoga method that incorporates the ancient teachings of Yoga into a sadhana for the urban spiritual seeker. The method draws from the ancient yogic teachings of India, but does not exclude other spiritual teachings from other cultures. It focuses on Raja Yoga, Tantra Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Gnana Yoga, Nada Yoga, Jappa Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Bhakti.
Because the urban yogi is confronting a dynamic constantly changing world, the yogi has to be able to tap into these subtle energies of the gunas to maintain balance in their lives. Urban Sadhu Yoga Shala offers classes based on these 3 states of nature to help the yogi tap into their (spiritual) needs.

Very welcoming environment, I feel really refreshed and peaceful after the 90-minute yoga sessions. The instructors are very knowledgeable and I love the background music. Located in a beautiful neighborhood which makes it even more fun to come here. I love that they're partnered with Classpass.

My teenage daughter and I started coming here almost a year ago, and it’s become a part of our lives. Instructors, like Amy and Purnima, are wonderful teachers, kind, thoughtful, and supportive. My kid especially loves the aerial yoga classes .
We really appreciate this warm, family owned studio that’s been around for over 10 years.
We’ve grown attached to this place and are so grateful to be part of it.

Best yoga class I have ever taken. Austin was a very knowledgeable teacher. Beyond a yoga teacher he also addressed an old injury and gave me ways I can improve my range of motion in my knee. This is not a commercial yoga experience. Very attentive. The atmosphere was ethereal.

Very easy to give this studio a 5-star review! It provides an amazing place to deepen your yoga practice and teaches alignment and breathing tips I have never been taught at most studios. The spiritual roots are very evident, as well.

I’ve been going to various yoga studios for the past twenty years and I have never left a class until going to Urban Sadhu. Austin who was leading the class, completely ignored my request to stop during an aggressive adjustment that left me with a painful neck strain. When I told him, I needed a moment, he continued pushing me to “get up” rather than respecting my boundaries. He stated “yoga is supposed to be uncomfortable.” Uncomfortable is one thing, but painful and unsafe is not what I want in any practice. I’m still in significant pain after a week. I cannot recommend this studio to anyone who values safety and respect.

I've attended Austin's 'Fundamentals' class, which is a 4-week course focusing on different aasanas. For anyone looking to learn the proper techniques, I would highly recommend the class- it is by far the best one around for learning. Austin is a great teacher with in-depth knowledge, and helps students refine their form and ensure proper execution. The class is calming and extremely enjoyable- would highly recommend!

This is a top notch studio. It’s very welcoming, and humble. The teachers are all extremely experienced, and many of them also teach at studios in NYC. The classes are well planned and paced, and there are many options for people from all levels. I have been practicing yoga for 15+ years, and appreciated the insight some of the instructors had for new ways to approach my practice. I also felt challenged in a good way. They have great workshops, and I particularly enjoyed the recent Kirtan. Highly recommend this studio.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The instructor and the atmosphere weren't very welcoming. The class was advertised as open to all levels, but upon arrival, we were informed it was an advanced class—this should have been communicated upfront. Additionally, charging $5 for mat rentals felt unreasonable.

I've been practicing yoga for 15+ years visiting studios all over the world and had an absolutely scarring experience at Urban Sadhu last Spring. The instructors were disrespectful of my established practice, provided inappropriate hands-on assists -- until I had to firmly yell out "stop touching me" and later proceeded to call my out during class. I've never had such a negative experience at a yoga studio. It takes a lot of courage to speak out against such an abusive studio but I feel its only fair that others are warned.

I have been attending Urban Sadhu Yoga for the past four years, and I can honestly say that it has been transformative for me in so many ways. This studio has greatly improved my mental health, given me a strong sense of community, and enhanced my physical well-being and flexibility.
Urban Sadhu is run by Bobby and Austin, two of the most amazing, caring, and passionate people you could ever meet. I’ve practiced yoga in many studios across different countries, but I can say without hesitation that Austin is the best yoga teacher I’ve ever had. His classes aren’t easy, but that’s what makes them so impactful. Austin will push you to improve your asana’s, encourage you when you need it, and offer critiques that help you grow. You’ll end up doing more than you ever thought possible.
The beauty of the practice that Austin teaches is its focus on spiritual well-being and becoming one with yourself. Ironically, even as you focus on the spiritual aspect, the physical benefits are immediate and undeniable.
If you’re looking for a yoga studio that will challenge you, support you, and help you grow in every way, I highly recommend Urban Sadhu Yoga Studio.

I've been practicing yoga at Urban Sadhu for about four years. The studio was recommended to me because their mix of spirituality and athleticism is unique. Through my practice with them, I am so much stronger physically, able to move my body in ways I would not have thought, but also I've noticed how the teachings have positively influenced the way I react to and move about in the world. The community at the studio has been so welcoming that it's become like a second home to me. I enjoy taking class with all of the instructors because they all bring something different to class. Purnima challenges me, Austin encourages me and helps me work on my weaknesses, Julie reminds me to breathe, Susan helps me look for the beauty in the world, Dominga adjusts and guides me through the asanas, and Amy is so creative with how we move our bodies. I cannot recommend this studio enough, it really has changed my life for the better!

**Update** Today I made a special visit to Urban Sadhu to take a class with Austin. I’ve been living outside of the US for the past 3 years.
As I walked up the stairs, so many feelings came back to me. It was like I never left. I was greeted with true love and affection. Besides friends and family, I missed my yoga practice! Not one class I’ve been to in the last years can even come close to what I experienced with my Urban Sadhu family. From the first Ohm to the last, I was filled with the energy and light of this amazing studio and expertly guided practice. Thank you Bobby and Austin, I keep you in my thoughts always. ❤️
Well, where to begin! I have been a student at Urban Sadhu for 4 years. Not only have I seen changes in my body from the rigorous yet very well taught classes but more importantly I’ve seen changes in the way I see the world. I’ve been out for a while after foot surgery but ventured back for a really cool Sound Bath event. You know that feeling when you walk in the door and know you are home? Ah, yeah....

For anyone feeling that they are practicing yoga but not really growing in some aspect, physical or spiritual, Urban Sadhu is life changing! I love this studio and haven’t been anywhere else since, even the studios in the area I really loved. This place just blows everywhere out of the water for me.
Urban sadhu is unique in the way that they really teach yoga. Their instruction is effective and the hands on assistance makes all of the difference. The teachers don’t just readjust misalignment, they guide you to try poses you’ve never tried, and get you deeper into your favorites. I have gotten so much stronger and I am able to do things I thought my body was unable to do.
Some other things I love:
- Any lessons/talking in class is well planned and meaningful thanks to their coordinated exploration of the month and mentorship from more experienced teachers.
- The teachers are so experienced and well prepared for every class.
- The community at this studio is really wonderful and inclusive.
- fairly priced unlimited membership as someone in a helping profession.

I just moved to Jersey and was excited to come here. That excitement turned to dread upon my checkin to the Urban Sadhu Express class. Austen made it a point to tell me it was more “athletic and technical” than whatever “generic” yoga I attended in the past. It seemed presumptuous but I thought, it’s an hour, it will be over soon. He seemed pretty determined to break my spirit from the start of class. I admit it was a much faster pace than I was used to practicing yoga but he was forceful about making me do hand stands which I had said before class started I didn’t want to do. The rest of the class were all moves that I was familiar with but after he was pushy about making me do the hand stand, so soon, I fell and injured my knee. After the fall I couldn’t put any weight on the knee but I could continue with the class. In an un-empathetic way he asked if I wanted to opt out and I said no, that I could modify—to which he looked disgusted. He made it a point to single me out, ridicule and patronize me for the entire class. He raised his voice at me several times and when I tried to be playful and cheerful he returned my gestures with a mean stare. He mentioned several times that I didn’t have the strength. I think that may have been partially true at times but my confidence to try hand stands for the first time was really shot. I think I could have done them if I had support but I was afraid to get more hurt. When I opted out of a shoulder stand (which I could do but decided against) he said “fine, I’lll accept that for now. “When class was ending with “peaceful” meditations I felt the opposite of the peace he was preaching. I had never been hurt in a yoga class before, or ridiculed or pushed past where wanted to go. I always understood that yoga was supposed to be a practice you modify to work for you—no matter the pace. Also, at the beginning of class without asking, he put a salve all over our backs. In my experience, people need consent to be touched if you don’t know them or at least approached gently. I felt like all of this set the tone and I should have walked out and listened to my instincts that this was going to be really bad. If this is what Urban Sadhu is like, then I want no part of it. I was tempted to go back to the aerial yoga class which I did enjoy and found much ,much , much harder but the idea of giving my time, energy and money to Austen made me not even want to attend a virtual class. It’s such a shame, I love the area and it’s a beautiful studio that I would have supported and bought a lot of friends to if I had been treated with kindness. Bobby seemed very nice and Aileen was a good instructor, because of them I will give this studio a 2. I've done martial arts and so many forms of exercise and have never let a studio feeling so belittled. I rarely give low scores in my reviews to places but this one went out of it’s way to earn it.

I have tried several yoga studios in Jersey city, NY and other places - I found Urban Sadhu yoga studio by far the best and the most comprehensive way of practicing yoga. I loved their knowledge, chants, meditation as well as the asana practice. My practice improved as I gained strength and was able to practice more advanced asanas. Coming from India, I know that Austin and Bobby are running this studio passionately and with a deep sense of reverence to the tradition. I will forever be grateful for this space where I found my strength back after having my babies. Thank you for keeping this studio alive inspite of all the odds. I moved to Jersey City without knowing anyone or anything here. I had an intention on doing new client specials at all of the yoga studios to see if I could find 'the right fit'
I started with Urban Sadhu and found much resonance in community, instructors and philosophy such that I ended my search.
Bob is the nicest person on earth.
Austin is an extremely pleasant and helpful instructor. The practice he has developed at Urban Sadhu is just so different than fitness first oriented studios and the consistency in his method has allowed me to grow. Prior to Urban Sadhu, I didn't attempt headstand, but I feel supported and safe enough to have developed a headstand practice.
Echo is also an incredible instructor -- I've taken her Mandarin express class after memorizing the express class and it was incredible to do it with her in a different language. That's the cool thing about this studio: the practice is consistent.
All of the instructors give the most incredible adjustments, especially Steph and Amy, and this is the best studio I've ever experienced.
Austin and Bob have done a great job building a community.
Thank you, Urban Sadhu!

I have experienced several studios in the jersey city area but none as comprehensive and Urban Sadhu. Much more than a workout class, especially the open and fundamental classes. I would encourage everyone to take the fundamentals, even if they have practiced prior as it is an excellent introduction to the style that is taught and a good review in general. It was so important for me to learn the why and how vs just following and lead. Urban Sadhu has a strong sense of community and a supportive group of teachers. They offer a wide variety of classes at two super convenient locations in Jersey City.
Austin is an incredible teacher. He is understanding and all about getting the details right, but all the other teachers and wonderful as well. I totally recommend if you are searching for more!

I have never left a review here before but I feel moved to expressed the unacceptable behavior that Austin exhibited during my class. About 15-20 minutes into class, I blinked my eyes for a second after felt my contacts drying out, which is something I periodically do throughout the day. Austin began to clap loudly at me and yelled "Open your eyes! Open your eyes! Hey, what are you doing?" He continued to yell at me, even though I had opened my eyes. I was particularly shocked because I was literally only blinking to moisten my contacts, but I believe that this reaction would have been unacceptable regardless of the circumstances. He seemed to have been personally offended by this incident, because he began to meticulously police me and single me out the rest of class. He corrected me for any small mistake in my stances with a level of vitriol and irritation that made me feel deeply unwelcome, starting his critiques by saying "What are you doing?" instead of pointing out how I could improve. For the last half of class, I was so afraid that he would yell at me or see that I was crying that I kept my head down, which, ironically, he then yelled at me for.
To be clear, I welcome corrections from teachers in classes - especially yoga since it's a practice that l'm trying to improve in. I played competitive soccer throughout college so I'm fairly immune to feedback that's a bit rough around the edges, but Austin's comments felt much closer to bullying than constructive feedback. His words and behavior towards me made me feel small.
I'm disappointed that someone so clearly lacking in tact and empathy has been given the chance to lead classes. Yoga is just as much a practice of the mind as it is the body, and Austin has some work to do on the former if uses his power as an instructor to single out and condescend to students. (If you’re looking for a rough idea of what I mean, see how other negative reviews are addressed on here — I get the impression that Austin is probably in charge of that.) The last thing that we need from yoga classes is a greasy white dude in culturally appropriated clothing being a bully to beginner students.
Aside from Austin being a total jerk, everything about the class was great — the space is beautiful and the other students were super friendly. Echo is also a great instructor! I wish her well in her journey to becoming a yoga teacher.

I took their aerial yoga class last month through ClassPass.
The class was great and the instructor (Aileen) helped every step of the class. My only hang up is the mat rental issue, the ClassPass description says nothing about needing a mat for this specific class in the class description, only in the "How to Prepare" section which is general. It feels like a last minute cash grab.
Looking over how the owners respond to criticism and remotely negative reviews, it’s very concerning. It’s rather off putting for me and I’m sure for prospective students.
Edit: as per their response, the “how to prepare” section only states:
- Mats Required $5 charge for rentals
- Arrive 10 min early! Doors close at start of class
- No shoes, food or cell phones allowed in studios
Nothing about ALL classes requiring a mat. Again that section is general and is not based on specific classes.

5 things I love about USY!!!
1. They approach yoga as an integration of the physical and the spiritual. This is not an exercise class.
2. Creative 75 min classes can push limits for intermediate practitioners and even challenge advanced.
3. Beautiful and clean studios that I can walk to from home.
4. The owners are completely dedicated to their business and serving the JC community.
5. This studio is not for everyone. But you may find it’s perfect for you.
Give it a few visits and see how you feel for the rest of your day!

Really condescending and horrible business. Even after I got hurt in class they responded to me in such a disgusting way. Even if “squishy” mats aren’t allowed the way the front desk spoke to me was uncalled for. And I received no apology for that. Never coming back here and will let people know as well.
After reading the studios response, I told Bob I had a knee injury and he just told me that my mat would do nothing for me. I spent the entire class in pain. You are once again tone deaf and a disgusting business. Bc you have still yet to address the way I was spoken to. The studio went as far to address it in their mailing that squishy mats aren’t allowed and once again I am saying the way I was spoke to was the issue. Not the fact that I couldn’t use my mat. Yes I have many other options to attend and will do that but I would like to let the community know about my horrible experience here.
Cheers.

Worst experience - I signed up for their class - got an email with address stated as Urban Sadhu Yoga 171 Newark Ave, Jersey City NJ. So I reached there for 5.30 pm class and waited outside, asked their neighboring businesses who knew nothing about them and then finally called their phone number and the person who answered the phone told me that I was supposed to be at 275 Grove St. I explained him that the address that I got was 171 Newark Ave.
He said if I run from 171 Newark to 275 Grove St I can still get in and join the group. So I ran fast and reached their 275 Grove St location in under 4 minutes. The male instructor was extremely rude and told me I am late. I explained him about the address issue mentioned above and he kept screaming "you are late you are late" and that he cannot admit me in.
So I left but its very unfortunate to see you treating your customers so badly after the fact that I got the wrong address and your staff told me to rush to your 275 Grove St location and hence I would never ever go back to this Yoga studio. Also I can see the rude behavior comments echoed in other reviews as well, so now I am not so surprised. Lastly since you are into Yoga I would like to let you know that you are accumulating Bad Karma.

I was looking for a yoga studio for a while, and came across Urban Sadhu Yoga that has two locations in downtown Jersey City. Since joining 2 months ago, I consistently took 3-4 classes a week, and pretty much got to know each and every teacher. To be honest - it’s hard for me to tell who I like the most, as each and every one of the teachers is bringing something unique into their teachings. I enjoy the philosophical and spiritual teachings that are an integral of the practice, and I feel I am getting back to my internal alignment after a long time. Highly recommended!

It's real yoga, all the instructors know what they are doing and the facility is the cleanest facility I have ever been to and it’s also giant and ventilated with super high ceilings and very spaced out. You are never close to your neighbor and no one is every breathing on you, you have your own personal space.

First class here. The vibes are immaculate !! Bobby at the front desk is very kind and full of life. I did not have cash on hand for the mat he asked me to give it next time. The kindness represents this yoga studio in the best way possible. Stephanie was my instructor today. She was incredibly gentle, very accommodating and attentive. Loved every part of the class. Will definitely be back here for the fundamentals !!

Words cannot describe the amount of love and gratitude I have for Urban Sadhu Yoga. I never write reviews, but USY has truly changed my life in such a short period of time. I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety, adhd, and suicidal ideation since I was 11. I never imagined a life where those negative thoughts could be silenced or turned positive. I’ve tried everything to turn my mental health around meds, therapy, journaling, meditation, hiking, personal training, and other yoga classes. Nothing ever worked — the negativity persisted and would get stronger. However, within two weeks of going to the USY, those thoughts started subsiding. Six months later, I no longer have any anxious, depressive, or suicidal thoughts or symptoms and am able to live completely in the present moment. One of the large reasons why the USY method helped me so much more than any other yoga studio I’ve been to is because of its connection to the spiritual roots of yoga. I love learning about the yoga sutras and how they apply to modern life at the beginning of each class. Engaging in the spiritual history of yoga has allowed me to connect to my mind and body in ways I never have and has allowed me to open and align my chakras! Another aspect that I love about the USY is the safe and comfortable environment that the teachers create. Struggling with general and social anxiety made attending classes initially very difficult, but after a few classes, the teachers’ encouragement made me comfortable enough that I no longer worried about how I looked or how I wasn’t “good enough” to be in the class. Although, each person’s journey is different, I highly recommended the USY to anyone who wants to try out yoga and meditation or possibly change their lives. Classes are perfect for beginners to expert practitioners and recommend any classes with any of the teachers as they are all so amazing!

What does Urban Sadhu mean to me? Quite simply, Austin and Bobby have created a sangha, full of loving support. The space provides an atmosphere of safety and guidance while on my yoga journey. Besides the well rounded, challenging asana practice that Austin magically leads while weaving in metaphoric stories from his vedic knowledge, i have always enjoyed the chanting and kirtan that the studio treasures. My yoga journey began with this studio and I always return for its source inspiration.
Founders: Austin and Bobby have become friends and I cherish the day that I first walked through the door.
It has been several years and my practice continues to flourish, many thanks to Urban Sadhu.

I very rarely write reviews but I feel compelled to share how wonderful this studio is and how incredible are the teachers and their classes.
If you practice yoga purely for its physical gains then you will always find these classes challenging. The sequences are so well thought out with one asana intentionally leading to the next. And, while there is constant attention by the teachers to address alignment they also manage to balance this with an effort to keep the yoga practice moving. Yoga, we are reminded is a moving meditation.
I have been practicing yoga for many years. Now I practice exclusively (6 days a week) with Urban Sadhu. Not only are the classes challenging from a physical standpoint but there is also a deep and genuine desire by the teachers to share their knowledge of the true tenets of yoga. Every day I am intellectually inspired and challenged by their knowledge. It’s also truly refreshing that the teachers at Urban Sadhu continue to learn and practice yoga themselves. It’s apparent that they continue to have a deep sense of commitment to their practice and their continued learning.
I have found—especially during this last year as the world has been living through the pandemic—that maintaining my practice and taking these classes has not only kept me physically and emotionally healthy but my understanding of the true meaning of yoga has deepened. In many ways this has been life changing for me.
Please take just one class. If you do, I promise that you won’t want to practice anywhere else!

Life changing !!! Incredible place with dedicated instructors & caring staff. Not only are practice rooms beautiful, the entire place is immaculate. The schedule is packed with approx 70 classes a week that I can drop into on my way in and out of the city. Grove St PATH is a block and half away and the app makes it easy to find a class.
I'd been practicing yoga on and off for about 10 yrs but this studio and these caring people worked to help me create a regular yoga and meditation practice. The hands on and mindful assists are what sets this practice apart from other studios. Increased focus, strength, stamina and better sleep are just a few of the benefits. When Jivamukti opened in Jersey City I was soooo excited. I had gone to the studio in NYC over a decade ago and was so moved, both spiritually and physically by the practice—but never lived close enough to attend regularly. Jersey City’s studio has not disappointed. It’s a very special place run by very special people—not to be missed!!
The teachers are incredibly skilled in their knowledge of the body, the practice of yoga, the history of yoga, and Buddhist philosophy. The classes are rigorous in that the instructors truly guide you in all the details of how to improve your form while also accommodating your individual limits & needs. The dharma talks that accompany the practice are as powerful as the physical practice. In such a “busy” world, this center really embodies creating more awareness, more community, & helping others find peace & joy. I’m so grateful to Bobby, Austin, Jessica, Susan, Chip, Luis, Natalie, Meg, Maria, Hadley, & Katherine, to name a few for all they’ve given over the years.

Jivamukti jersey city is the perfect environment to practice yoga. It’s beautiful, clean, relaxing, and the staff and owners are all welcoming and knowledgeable.
Jivamukti combines physical and spiritual practice and meditation and you walk out of there feeling invigorated and challenged. There are a variety of classes to choose from and people if all levels can attend any class and go at their own pace. I personally love the open class, each instructor brings their own technique of teaching that is both challenging and nurturing in an authentic way.

I have been going here for more than a year(July 2017 was my first class). Took the beginner series for a couple of months and now a regular( around 2 classes a week). Still use ClassPass for it though. :)
Never have I had a bad experience or a bad teacher or a bad class here. The intro chants to the soulful music that plays for the entirety of the class gives a blissful feeling by the end of it. And bonus is you get to learn your poses. I recently got to do my first headstand, handstand and forearm stand and I look forward to doing many more.
Jivamukti JC is probably the best Yoga studio around and Austin and Bobby do a great job in providing a wonderful experience. The only thing I ask of people entering to take a class here is leave your ego at the door and you’ll have a wonderful experience. Namaste!

It has made me a better person in every aspect of my life, relieved my stress and anxiety as well as put me in the best shape of my life. All the teachers are there to help and guide you and Austin and Bobby are so welcoming and helpful. Thank you Jivamukti for all that you have done for me. I don’t know where I would be without you.

I only took one class here, which was okay but not great. I signed up through ClassPass and usually when I go to a new studio, I get a little tour and / or explanation of how class works and where the bathrooms are. At the very least, I get a nice greeting. When I walked in, the person at the front desk was having a conversation with another student, which made me think this place was welcoming. However, the person at the front desk proceeded to ignore me for a few minutes while I awkwardly waited to check in. It was just unprofessional and made me feel like an outsider, which is pretty rare for a yoga studio.
The class itself was okay, the instructor went through some of the poses a little too quickly and was definitely catering to the other 2 or 3 students who were regulars. Again, I felt like an outsider.
The experience overall wasn't good enough to make me want to come back. I didn't feel very welcome and the staff was unprofessional.
Also, if you scroll down, you'll notice the owner trolling only negative posts in a very confrontational and unprofessional way. If you have a bad experience with a business, why wouldn't they try to make it up to you and see if they can make the relationship work? It's not that hard to swallow your pride and apologize, even if you don't think you're wrong. I'm a customer service professional and do this all the time. And guess what? I have never ended a relationship with a customer on bad terms, even if the communication begins on a negative note.

The RUDEST, most confrontational owners / front desk managers I have ever come across at a yoga studio. I had a mediocre yoga class and called to convey the feedback expecting a sympathetic response or at least an acknowledgement of the poor experience (which included the owner who I thought was the front desk manager at the time making me to go down the stairs and outside in the freezing cold when I was 6 months pregnant and visibly winded from having just come up to to go get a flyer so I could have the first class free, claiming it was the owner’s rules when he was the owner himself). When the owner returned my call it was only to berate me, to the point of bringing me to tears knowing full well that I was very pregnant at the time. After admitting that the instructor who taught the class was just learning, which explained the quality of the lesson, he proceeded to lecture me on how I should be understanding if not every class is good since apparently the instructors are sometimes beginners themselves (why would I pay a premium price for that?) and asked me never to come back to the studio even though I had purchased a class pack. There are so many other fantastic yoga studios in the area.. don’t bother with this one. Recommend: Michelle Timek Yoga, Surya Yoga, or the yoga classes at Base.

Having developed injuries over the years from doing Crossfit and Martial Arts, I was searching for something that would help my body and still provide a workout. Very happy to say I've found the best place.
After trying several Yoga studios, I'm happy to have found a home a Jivamukti. While a lot of places practice yoga, I've never found another school that really teaches it. The instructors are all top notch and go above and beyond with all the students to make sure you are doing everything correctly.
I've actually learned yoga here and have really helped my body along the way. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned vet this is the place for you.
Besides just the physical benefits I'm also happy to share the mental and emotional benefits. There is mindfulness practice in every class and it has really helped me with my focus and generally decreasing stress.
I can't recommend this place enough.

I feel very disappointed in this practice. It feels that the vibe and customer service vary day to day, depending on when you go and who you interact with. I have been going for a few months, off an on, and was happy with it, especially based on proximity to my home.
My friend recently moved here and I have been trying to convince her to join with me. They go through the packages and hand the infamous free class coupon.
She meets me after work, but she forgot the coupon at home. DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!!! We take one from the counter and explain we spoke to so-and-so and blah and blah and she immediately shuts us down and says it's policy, you have to go get the one from home. Class starts in 4mins. Fine, whatever.
We spoke to someone after the class and were explaining that we paid for the class, and before we finish our sentence the instructor rolls their eyes and says "no refunds, you need the coupon here at time of class for it to be free, sorry" and starts to walk away when the question was if the fact she paid would influence her New Student status and the rate for the month as a new student. We left and she said she'd call.
We talk few days later and she says she called and spoke to someone and laughs that when she brought up the paying since she forgot the coupon, she was cut off AGAIN about how there were no refunds. She said she just spoke over him until the actual question was out.
He said she was still eligible for the New Student discount but she had to go in THAT DAY or he couldnt help her. She didnt, missed their hours that day, and has since decided to join a practice closer to the PATH. That is wasn't "worth the hassle. If they act like this over $22 imagine if there was a real problem." And she's right.
I get it. I own a business. But there is such a thing as customer service and I would gladly honor a coupon, that I have a stack of, for someone that is about to give me months of income. I am so bummed out about this whole experience and will be joining my friend at the PATH located practice once my package runs out here.

I enjoy exercising. Admittedly, staying active, treating your body appropriately, seems to be getting tougher every year. I haven't made the New Year's resolution specifically to get into shape or to work out at some rate in a given week, but I did decide to take up yoga at the Jivamukti JC yoga studio in January as a resolution to try something new that also involved stretching - my doctor said it wasn't great that I couldn't touch my toes and said my "hamstrings were probably made of concrete" (scientifically, that probably wasn't accurate). So I started Jivamukti yoga this past January on a 3-month unlimited-class package and recently continued my unlimited subscription to continue though the year. I did a bunch of local homework and found this studio to be a solid fit for me personally as well as my schedule. Between the space and the philosophy it's a legit yoga studio, and that comes off; it isn't a gym that does yoga, and that's the point. If this is an activity that is of potential interest, it's worth the money and effort to do it right, and to give this studio and style particularly, a legitimate effort. Their class schedule is greatly accommodating: classes start as early as 7AM and start as late as 8PM, which is a rare commodity for most exercise-specific studios. On classes/teachers, both are great; I do have a few that I frequent more than others for no other reason than it fits into a schedule I more or less have to keep. Overall I've enjoyed this studio a lot, learning the practice and having a dialogue here and there about some of the contexts and philosophes of the teachings. Also, the co-owner congratulated me when I finally could headstand... and that's really cool. Also, proposed to my now-wife here during a private class and that was cool too.
