Golf course Golf club Golf driving range Golf instructor Public golf courseAbout the Club
Wild Turkey is one of the most unique golf courses in NJ, made up of two distinct types of terrain. The topography is best described as basin and ridge, providing golfers with the type of variety rarely found on a single course. Roger Rulewich’s design includes wide fairways and moderately contoured greens that make the course playable for high handicappers, while smartly placed tee boxes add challenge for experienced golfers. One of the best NJ public golf courses, Wild Turkey was named among the state’s “Top New Public Courses” by NJGCOA.
The course's basin area is reminiscent of the treeless expanse of the Resort's Ballyowen. The par-3, 14th hole affords golfers a view of the entire hollow while challenging them with a long iron shot.

Played Wild Turkey recently and really enjoyed it. It’s a fun course to play with some challenging holes that keep you on your toes. The layout is surrounded by residential townhouses in certain areas, but you still get some really nice views throughout the round. A few workers on the holes got a bit in the way here and there, though maybe that was just the season I came. The staff in the pro shop were very friendly and welcoming. Overall, a great experience and worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Wild Turkey is my personal favorite course at Crystal Springs. It rewards length of the tee, but it never feels overly punishing if you miss a shot or two. The layout strikes a great balance — plenty of opportunities to let it rip off the teebox, but also a handful of tricky holes that keep you on your toes, especially the par 3s. It’s not the type of course that beats you up; instead, it’s just straight-up fun to play. Every round here feels like a really great day out.

Course not worth nearly the price. There are more than a few courses in the area that are cheaper, and in better shape. I have no idea how this course justifies it's price.
Update 7/17/25 I see your response, are you willing to let me try one of your other courses at a discount? I only ask as I paid over $100 for a course with rocks and "valleys" in every sand trap, making it impossible to play out of them unless i wanted to risk my club? If not, your response is ridiculous.

Resort style golf- good amount of challenge for a 13 handicap. But major issues with the course that need to be addressed:
- bunkers- all were not raked and raked were broken often. Rocks in bunkers- not worth $150 when you hit rocks in sand traps. Unacceptable.
- no sand/ divot replacement on carts- this course could be amazing but isn’t due to them not giving people sand to fix their divots.
- no rain covers in the back of cart- it happened to rain on us and they didn’t have covers in the back to keep our golf clubs dry- once again unacceptable for a $150 dollar round.

I have been here couple times for different course at the cascade.
They all have beautiful view, friendly staff, fairway well maintained.
Wild turkey had a recent maintenance, and the green condition was really tough.
The ball on green was not rolling, it is jumping. bumpy, slow, unpredictable.
Not the best time to play Wild Turkey. Choose other courses or confirm with proshop before booking.

Fun course that’s not too difficult, has some nice open fairways yet challenging elevation on a few holes. I will say the course marshall’s were the nicest people I’ve ever met on a course. The one guy clapped for us when we got an eagle! Course was in great shape, and the weather was perfect! Thank you very much!

Nice challenging course to play. From the tee box, it’s fairly open. Lots of sand traps to play around and elevations. Course is well maintained and staff is tremendous. Would had given it a 5 star, but at $120 for a round, is pricey.

Course was part of the 6 pack received during the Holidays. Pace of play was great. Fairways well kept for the most part. Sand traps need more sand and remove the stones. Carts should be supplied with fill for fixing your divots. Really liked the course.

Booked a foursome for 1:54pm on a Saturday- Father’s Day weekend. Diego answered the phone to help me book the tee time. He was extremely courteous and helpful.
We are all average golfers at best, but no strangers to nice courses. Wild Turkey is a beautiful and forgiving course. Wide fairways to give us average golfers a little bit of an edge, and plenty of signs to guide us in the right direction as it’s a large course and not all the holes are directly next to each other. Really I have no complaints about this place. I read some of the other reviews which seem to be a little negative. Why, I can’t understand. Perhaps frustrations from one’s own game can be directed at “conditions,” but I fail to see how the cost of this course isn’t justifiable. The fairways were so well kept, and the greens were beautiful and fast, even after a night of rain. Friendly staff, rangers were abundant, and the snack cart passed by every other hole, it seemed like.
Can’t recommend this course enough. Will be back.

Played course on Saturday, October 1st. Greens have healed from aeration others have recently complained about. They were very nice, rolled nice.
Course was very green and all areas were in very good shape. I thoroughly enjoyed my round here.
I would recommend playing here. It’s not cheap to play but I felt it was worth it for the NY-NJ area’s cost of golf.
FYI…I played Ballyowen a month or so ago and I enjoyed that as well. I feel wild turkey is just as nice and fun to play.
Thank you.

Disappointing especially for the money. Greens were in bad shape, bunkers too. No carts were available when we arrived (how is this possible at a golf course?). We got ours 10 mins before our tee time. I talked to someone who missed their tee time since there were no carts for them. Pace of play was slow and backed up, took around 5 hours. Course itself was fun and staff was nice. Probably won't come back until i hear these issues have been resolved

Love this course. Beautiful shape. My issue is that if you are going to charge people that type of money to play the course, you should probably at least attempt to keep the pace of play up with the rangers. Just played a weekday afternoon round that took over 5 hours..... Our 4some did not see a single ranger driver by throughout the entire 5 hours. The group in front of us had nobody in front of them, yet ever hole we were driving up on them as they were leaving the tee box. They all hung out in the carts while 1 person hit and would continue to do so for every person. Course is beautiful but the operation is poor. Should never take over 5 hours to play a round at 3pm on a Tuesday

The course itself is a 4.5 in my opinion, but as with everything these days at Crystal Springs, a disappointing day. Planned a full day at the club with a fellow rewards member this past Sunday. Crystal in the morning, lunch reservation, then Wild Turkey. Played our morning round. (Was fine other than the bunkers which I chipped a brand sand wedge in) Went for lunch...ordered Cobb salads thinking they would be fast and easy, had to leave after not receiving them in 50 minutes! Head to Wild Turkey....starts out fine...then slows to a hault. On three different tee boxes.....3 full groups waiting to tee off. Never seen that in all my years of golfing. 5.5 hour round, at top dollar. Completely unacceptable. Emailed the club, no response. Have had other bad experiences this summer, also no response from the powers that be. Really disappointing because the place has 4 potentially great courses that we've enjoyed immensely in the past. Can't see myself renewing my membership.

Wild Turkey, 7/15/22. Greens sucked, that simple. What a joke this place is - charging people $125 greens fees, and your greens are in horrible horrible condition. Some nerve!! And they have a lot of bunkers that are simply dirt with tons of rocks/gravel in them. WTH is that about!? Maybe this place is worth $65, maybe. Too many other course with better value to ever go back here again. And staff in pro shop are untrained. I prepaid, but my friend checked in ahead of me by 20 mins and they charge him full fee for both of us. I walked in later and they tried to charge me too!?!, even though I said that I prepaid. All was settled quickly, but cmon man?

Would have expected better conditions for a resort premium course typically charging +$100 per round green fees. Some of the sand traps had white sand fill while others had a majority of small rocks and gravel with different consistency sand. Greens were slower than expected with inconsistent cut height and inconsistent speed from green to green. Course offers a mix of challenges for both the advanced and novice golfers with some scenic hole layouts. $9 Miller/Coors lite beer from cart is unrealistic. Just an Ok overpriced experience.

Greens, Tee Boxes and Fairways were what you expect from a "resort style premium course". However, the bunkers we devoid of sand, most of them were roped off as ground under repair. Supply chain issues have sprung up everywhere (I understand that) but when you are charging $110 per round you would expect some type of relief. The money clearly isn't going to sand.

It was not a bad round of golf. The layout was okay, some of the holes were basic and others were heavily guarded and beautiful. I understand it is early season, but a lot of work is getting done. There is some stuff in the bunkers and aeration was done on Monday, April 11 2022. Some cats are moving earth on some holes. Hopefully it will be in better shape soon but I would wait at least another month (May) to play.

18 holes over a huge parcel of land. Wide fairways to help the less than expert golfer, but enough difficulty to keep and advanced golfer interested also. Booked 3 foursomes today at $90 per golfer and was completely disappointed. Course was in decent shape but it was cart path only. Easily could have been 90 degree. No beverage cart on course and halfway house was closed. Don’t recommend anyone play there this time of year. And forget about getting a beer after your round. $10 pint seems a little out of hand for this time of year.

Crystal springs is charging a premium in November on a weekday and it's especially disappointing when the driving range & the halfway house are closed. The bunkers are filled with gravel, and the whole course was cart path only when only 2 holes actually needed to be roped off. And the rough looks like it hasn't been cut in weeks. Greens were rolling decent but that's about the only compliment I have on a course that's supposed to be one of the best in NJ.

Booked 3 foursomes on election day for $90 per person. Called the day before and was told that the "halfway house" would be open for food and a beverage cart was going around. Neither was true. No service. driving range was closed for "maintenance "??? There wasn't anyone picking up balls.cart path only? maybe 3 holes had wet fairways...total B.S. Course was in great shape overall and should be 90 degree at the least. Go elsewhere in November. DISAPPOINTED 😞.

I have worked at a golf course for 24 years, play 50-60 rounds a year and couldn't have been more disappointed with my round at Wild Turkey/Crystal Springs on August 31st. The golf course had just been aerated, with no notice on the website or discount given towards the green fees. The greens were untouched and essentially unputtable. The golf course was in horrendous shape, with the bunkers filled with stones, gravel, and completely washed out. There was lIterally no sand in them. The rough looked like it hadn't been cut/touched in two weeks. I understand the aeration is important, and the weather hasn't been very cooperative, but you could tell that this was a product of neglect/lack of staff/lack of maintenance and had nothing to do with the weather or aeration schedule. For resort prices, anybody would expect more. The topper was the pace of play. We were at 4 and a half hours with two holes left, waiting on every shot for the group in front of us. On 16, we got hit into and barked at by the group behind us to hit even thought we were waiting for the group on the green to clear, which almost caused a fight. There wasn't one ranger on the course the whole day and we were on place to finish in 5 hours and 15 minutes which is crazy on a Tuesday morning. All in all, I was stunned at how poor the experience was. I have played there a bunch over the years and always had a reasonable experience. This might have been the worst golf experience I ever had on a course. I never write reviews like this but this one needed to happen.

I had an excellent first experience playing wild turkey golf course. I loved the layout. There was only 1 hole I didn't care for on the front. Many of the holes you can't just bomb Away or else you'll be in a trap or OB. The greens rolled true and were not super difficult. They did change halfway through the round though going from medium pace to slow. The conditions were very good from tee to green. The only complaint as I had read in other reviews is the traps. We were warned from the starter that many traps were burnt out or dried out. Need to be repaired. So if I hit into a "rock trap" I just pulled it out and played from there. I would come back. The only element not deserving of 5 starts is the cost. Any round prior to 3 pm is over $100 and the food and drinks on the course are astronomical. $9 for a can of beer. Ballpark prices. Anyway I enjoyed it here and recommend to play.

The golf course itself was in beautiful condition very nice course. The pro shop staff was very nice as well. But the starter at Wild Turkey was very rude and disrespectful. He sent us to play a “practice hole” while we were waiting for the group ahead of us to tee off” Then came up to us screaming and yelling saying that we messed up the tee sheet and that we were making our own rules by playing this “warm up hole”. He’s the one who told us to do that. But instead of admitting it he’s blaming it on us that it was our decision. He comes up to us yelling and said “pick up your balls now and get to the first tee now your messing everything up” As we get into an argument with him the other ranger comes up to diffuse the situation and apologize to us about the other starters rudeness, disrespect and attitude. I have never encountered such a rude, disrespectful starter on a golf course in my life. His attitude and disrespect was so uncalled for. What a way to ruin someone’s experience.

Overpriced. Having a starter is pointless if he’s just firing off groups as quick as possible. My group was a twosome and we were forced to tee off before group in front of us had even made it to the green, and then he sent a single out behind us while we were WAITING to hit our second shot! Course was extremely backed up. Had to wait at every tee box and after every shot (5-10 minutes). No marshal to control pace of play. Tee boxes were not in good condition. Bunkers were absolutely horrible. Greens and fairways were okay, but a lot of divots and ball marks. Not worth the $130. Tons of better courses in the area that I will gladly play at instead. Pro shop staff was nice.

Used to be one of my favorite places to play but the course is just getting worse everyday. Horrible greens, bunkers and fairways. Had a foursome that started 30 minutes earlier but claimed they got lost playing the wrong holes. They cut infront of us as we were about to tee off on the 4th hole. The ranger didn’t send them to the hole they were supposed to be at even after we explained the whole situation. Caused a huge delay because they were playing the tips but were obviously 20+ handicap players . During the next round another ranger drives up and tells us we’re too slow when we were about to finish the front 9 under 2 hours. There was no group behind us for at least 2 holes. The place is a joke.

Terrible. Way over priced. We waited on every shot. No one around to speed up the pace. Hard to follow how to get to the next hole. And worst of it all and most important - conditions. Not even close to worth 130 dollars. I’ve seen better conditions at 40-50 dollar munis. Fairways and tee boxes have not been seeded and maintained. Tons of divots everywhere. Greens had divot marks. Bunkers had not been raked in a long time, Puddles in many of them. If you’re paying 130 for a round, and you get in some sand traps, should you have to get additional issue by rocks scratching your club? Such a waste.

I thought the layout was extremely fair. I am typically a 11 handicap. I got schooled. I wound up shooting a 92. The course insists you make your shots to score low.
The greens the fairways and approach areas are ample, with more than enough flat lies for any level of player.
I would give those portions of the course very high grades.
Now for the other parts of the course.
The sand traps are called sand traps for a reason. The sand traps have very little sand and in one instance I was looking at gravel.
The course paths from hole to hole are difficult to follow, as well as driving under , through, and around homes does not make it easy to trac the course.
We will definitely be back. I also found the price to play extremely fair.
The clubhouse, restaurant and bar all have a place in the overall great experience.
Enjoy, I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t.

PATHETIC, that they have the NERVE and AUDACITY to charge $100 to play here, but year after year they REFUSE to spend a few bucks to purchase a few truckloads of God Damn Sand for the ROCK-FILLED, GRAVEL, CONCRETE BUNKERS. Expect your round to plummet when you land in a ROCK-FILLED "Dirt trap." Plan on RUINING good Sand wedges and lofted clubs as the repeated damage from the rocks, stones, gravel and hardened clay destroy any valid attempt at getting out of these disastrous "HAZARDS!" EVERY SAND TRAP IS A HAZARD - Hazardous to your irons !!! Mr. OWNER - GO BUY SOME DARN SAND and place it IN THE TRAPS !!!!!!!!!!

The resort is beautiful and the pro shop top notch. This is a review of Wild Turkey Golf Course only. The layout is great and views amazing. Problem is, the course conditions today (05/10/16) were pretty bad. Greens were aerated so I'll give them a pass. Tee boxes so so. Fairways so so. Bunkers terrible. Some bunkers had been driven through by carts and none were raked. For the price, you'd expect better. I've played muni courses for a third of the price and had far better conditions. My guess as to why the conditions were so bad is there are a lot of outings played and the course takes a beating. At least 3 bunkers had damage from golf carts that some moron (s) had driven into. No plans to ever play it again.
