Visited this location while on a quick vacation. The gym is small but has enough machines and free weights. It was very clean, quiet, and got the job done. What was disappointing was that children under 18 are allowed inside. One gym patron was working out and their son was messing around with some of the machines. The child was running around and even got in the way of another patron. This was pretty disappointing. Another child arrived with a gym patron but sat at the sofa and did not disturb anyone (very much appreciated). Allowing children inside the location was unusual to me given that the other Anytime Fitness locations I’ve been to do not allow children inside at all.

Theres a new crew in town. This location is the epitome of a neighborhood gym. Since the new management, Aaron, there's been a real positive difference with the gym. The new team has been able to quickly wrap-up a long drawn upgrade to the gym, infrastructure-wise and the vibe of it's culture. They are always kind and encouraging. This location is small, but includes all the necessities for a fitness enthusiast like myself. It includes barbells, free weights up to 100lbs, cardio equipment (bike, elliptical, treadmill, stairmaster, rowing machine), a turf area, punching bag, kettlebells, and all the basic machines you'd find at any gym. The equipment and facility is kept very clean, and the housekeeping supplies is always stocked (towels for machine cleaning, soap in the restrooms, etc.) I have had a membership here for a little over a month, but I see myself using this gym for years to come.

Additionally, the staff are very friendly and professional. Aaron, the manager, is down to earth and takes the safety and security of the gym very seriously.

One of the highlights of this gym is the personal training. Since I've joined this gym, I have been working with one of their trainers, Jacob Trujillo, who has been absolutely incredible with helping me reach my fitness goals. He takes my fitness concerns seriously and is very encouraging of my progress during our sessions. He is very knowldgeable of body mechanics and nutrition, and writes plans very specifically for his clients' goals. He will demonstrate proper form and make adjustments where he sees you need improvement. He will stop you from hurting yourself and watch to make sure your reps are controlled and strengthening the proper muscles for your goals. He will challenge you to push yourself, but will support you to rest when it is more effective. He will work with your schedule. What sets him apart, however, is his attitude. Coach Trujillo shows up and is intentional with creating an atmosphere where his clients feel supported and encouraged. He celebrates big and small wins in his clients' lives and fitness journeys. He gets to know his clients on personal levels to know their stories and hence build them up accordingly. Coach Trujillo's attitude is one of his greatest strengths. His dedication to his clients' goals is a huge draw for anyone looking to improve their life in any way. I highly encourage his coaching and recommend him with flying colors!

This is a great little gym, and for anyone looking for a nice gym near them, the AF on Coal is perfect!

Great gym especially since the remodel. I really wish there were more adjustable benches in the free weight section, also some people will kind of claim certain benches but still go around and use other machines. Would make sense in a bigger gym, but not in a smaller neighborhood gym like this location.

There is a significant improvement since Aaron took over as manager at the Coal site. He connects well with the customers and is attentive to the cleanliness of the gym and the state of the equipment. On a personal note, Aaron solved a problem regarding a refund when a mistake was made during registration (before Aaron took over as manager). Although the amount was modest, he was determined to correct what should have been a simply accounting issue. It took a few months but he got it done! That's persistence and that's customer service!

Yeah, the new management is amazing. This place as done a complete 180. It is nice and more space inside. Stays clean. Friendly kind staff. Other guests have always been very polite and unintrusive. This gym is a gem!
I've been working out here for several years and each manager has been wonderful. I was very disappointed that Tamara quit just before the remodel began. Since I had a project that required my full attention, I was away for a couple of months. When I returned, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Aaron, who I had met previously, is the new manager. He was very encouraging and supportive upon my return.
I'm impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail. He is making many improvements, and the gym is very clean and well maintained.
It's a warm and comfortable environment for a great workout!

I’ve been a member with Anytime for 3+ years each location has their own quirks. I’ve been this location the longest I love it. The new management is getting into a groove and making the gym comfortable for everyone. The remodel looks great and you can feel the culture shift happening when the manager care to greet everyone and make everyone feel included. Besides everything you might scrutinize upon entering a gym or signing a membership, the people who work there come first in your experience.

Aaron and the trainers were good folks, and we had a great conversation. They weren’t pushy, it seemed like they genuinely wanted the best for me as a customer and the club as a whole.

The showers were private and clean, and just in the 10 minutes I was waiting for Aaron, Jacob came out and mopped the waiting area.

I was having trouble getting my fitness pass approved threw my insurance and Mr.Aaron went above and beyond calling my insurance company to make sure I got approved!! I'll give the gym 4 stars based on the arrival of Aaron as manager. It was a great, warm, CLEAN, and welcoming place when Tamara was there. I recommended the gym to a lot of people then. When she was replaced it started going downhill rapidly. The new manager seemed nice enough, but he did little to keep the place up. Here's hoping that things continue to improve under Aaron's management.
p.s. I saw the snarky reply to Ann's honest review, and my response is that it was a very unprofessional and tone deaf thing to write. Slamming a former employee who was popular with the people paying to patronize one's business makes me question the judgment of upper management. Nevertheless, here's hoping the gym gets back to being as clean and well-maintained as it was when Tamara was there.

I tried to sign up online and it said I had to make an appointment to meet a member of the staff which I did. I showed up to the appointment, no one is here, no one is answering the phone inside even though it says that they are staffed until 1 PM today. There is a separate phone number on the door that you can call for membership issues or emergencies, I've called it 5 times and texted it and have received no response. I moved a lot of things around today to be here at this time And I cannot tell you how angry I am that I've been blown off. I hope anyone considering signing up with this place reads this review. There is no way that this place is run well. absolutely no possible way. Yesterday I tried sending an email to this store specifically and the email bounced back as rejected. This place is poorly run. Extremely unprofessional. I highly suggest you stay away. Can you imagine if there was an emergency here and this is the way it was handled? I guess you might get lucky and be able to sign up and they actually follow through with what they're supposed to do but I can assure you that businesses like this will let you down at some point. It is for this exact reason that I am not going to make anymore effort whatsoever to try to get a membership here. I've had experiences like this at places and like I said, with no doubt, they will let you down and piss you off for one reason or another. Take your money somewhere else and do not support this kind of business ownership in this community, there are so many other well run businesses in Albuquerque, do not support this type.

This gym has swiftly gone downhill with the departure of the last manager,,Tamara. Gym is dirty, lack of paper towels to clean equipment after use, and even toilet paper.in the restrooms is constantly missing. equipment is in need of repair. Aaron is really conscientious when he is here and It would behoove management to keep him at the Coal location.He is knowledgeable about fitness, knows gyms and what is required to keep things in order and running smoothly. He has a great rapport with members and would be a definite asset to bring the gym back up to standards. Ratings can change with improvements. I love this gym and truly hope that things can be improved.

This gym is wildly hot, humid and sweaty at all times. Management is not responsive over emails, and I had a hard time cancelling my membership here (to clarify, multiple emails were sent over weeks regarding this and they also were not available during posted office hours). This is a great Anytime Fitness facility. We were on the road and stopped on for a workout and shower - the cleanest and largest showers we've yet found at any AF. I accidentally left behind some jewelry in the shower/bathroom, and it was secured by staff. The Manager even offered to send it to our home UPS on faith I would repay her! Above and beyond! Highly recommended.

I love this gym! The owner / manager / personal trainer is great. She is very friendly, helpful, professional, and knowledgeable. This is a great place to get a quick workout in 24/7. I moved to Albuquerque in 2020 after suffering intense trauma that hospitalized me for six months in another state.

When I got to Albuquerque, I was getting healthy again but needed a trainer. I wanted to build up my strength, but due to the trauma I suffered, I kept running into walls due to my injuries and limitations.

I found Anytime Fitness on Coal ave and Tamara, the gym manager and physical trainer.

I can't believe my good fortune in finding this gym, and mostly Tamara.

As of January 2024, I will have been training with Tamara for two years at this gym, and the results for my body have been amazing. There have been times I couldn't do a specific exercise due to my injuries and how my body was put back together (I had double digit surgeries) but Tamara's expertise always found a different exercise we could do as whatever issue I had healed.

By having Tamara as a trainer, even when I was struggling with pain in one area, we were able to work others.

I say this only because I am grateful; I look amazing! I am the strongest and most fit I've been in over 15 years. I have muscles where I did;t think I ever would again, and having a stromng body has paid dividends helping me have a strong mind.

The gym is clean, the regulars there are friendly, and I could not be happier.

I plan to keep training with Tamara, and- bonus- I travel sometimes for work, and I have been able to use my membership to workout in Anytime Fitness locations in other states.

If you live in Albuquerque and want a nice, clean gym with friendly people, this is the place!

**Note- I see some bad reviews here, and I don't know what these people are talking about. I've been here two years and look forward to going. I'm there 3 or 4 times a week, and it is a pleasure seeing the other regulars who also enjoy going all the time.

I am so happy to have this gym in the neighborhood. Yes it is small, but Tamara the manager makes up for it in a major way. It's ok, if you just need a place to do a quick workout then it's for you. Only 4 treadmills, had to wait to get on one after lifting. Small gym, so there's is basically only one of everything except the free weights. There are showers but one had a broken shower head. It's a gender neutral bathroom w a shower I believe 2 in facility. Only one person on staff. Small turf area to stretch. There is a punching bag. Facility is clean and there is a spray bottle and paper towels to clean machines after use. Machines are in good condition. A little to hot inside for me but that's a personal preference. There was a musty smell to the gym but that's normal for a small hot area w sweaty patrons. It was not for me but still clean gym area w good working equipment. If you just need to lift and get a lil cardio and no extras needed it's for you.

I visit Anytime fitness centers all over the U.S. and this one is probably one of the filthier ones I’ve seen to. The machines need some cleaning. Restrooms are clean. Been liking this location lately. Doesn't seem to be overcrowded, but today left a bad taste in my mouth. Questioning whether I'll be coming back. A gentleman waited at the door to try to get a membership for close to 15 minutes, had someone on the phone from the gym and was met by a very aggressive female "helper". 🧼🧹Leading by example and cleaning equipment after you use it is just the respectful thing to do, which I see most people doing. Nothing is dirty to the point of preventing comfort.
💦🚿 On site staff offer training and amenities (protein/bottled water/etc.) for a small fee, and there’s free filtered water near the 4 restrooms with showers.
🏪🔐Open 24 hours and accessible only with a key fob, so my wife and I feel safe after hours.

Went to this gym last week traveling through, it’s was so gross. It was dusty and the floors were repulsing. Jeff was my personal trainer. He listened to me, motivated me, and pushed me. He is professional and I enjoyed his presence. When I didn't know how to do a certain workout, he demonstrated it. This gym is following all of the state's mandates concerning the Covid pandemic. Throughout the gym are postings requiring members to properly wearing masks and to notify the owners of anyone not doing so. There is plenty of sanitizer throughout the gym to wipe equipment and hands as well. Members should take some responsibility and keep a 6 foot distance from other members when working out. Looking for a new gym and found this Gem! The owner is wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome for the moment we stepped inside. The gym is spotless and we'll maintained unlike the planet fitness I was a member of. I can't recommend enough! I looked at other gyms in the area and they did not compare.

I don’t know how this is considered an anytime fitness. It’s tiny. Doesn’t even have a studio. Very little equipment. No straight bars or even a shoulder press. If there’s more than 2 people in there it feels packed. The parking lot has like 4 spots. I don’t know how they charge as much as the other anytime fitnesses. Disappointing Because I live down the street now. The one in the heights is honestly the best one and worth the membership fee and I will drive the extra way to go to that one instead everyday.

I give this gym a 5 star rating for cleanliness, functionality, and friendliness! I am a traveler from Michigan and I have visited many Anytime Fitness locations around the country. This Albuquerque location is hands down in my top 5 favorite locations I’ve had the pleasure to visit... Manager Jeff provided a warm welcome upon my first arrival to the gym and has been very helpful with knowledge about the equipment during my workouts... There are two private unisex restroom/shower rooms and one unisex private bathroom that have been thoroughly clean since the day I arrived two weeks ago. I couldn’t ask for a better gym experience... Oh and the water bottle fill station is very handy for quick refills during my workout.

Very nice and friendly owner with a welcoming environment. Not the biggest, most complete gym, but a really great local option and affordable. The equipment is all new, AC, fans, bathrooms, and showers. Bring your own towels and water.

So am a member of this gym and let me tell you guys I've never loved a gym more than this, Jeff (the manager) is amazing! He and his wife are always on top of any situation happening around, they included new equipment and some tools for the workouts, and they always ask you how you doing, and feeling to me that's a must!
