This place is a scam just finding out now. I Had a gym membership from 2019 to 2020 I had cancelled my gym membership or so i thought at the time, went in and was told I had to pay 40 dollars to cancel it, they’re was a young lady working at time and I remember directly asking her that if I payed this it would be the last time and she assured me that it was the last payment and I signed some documents to cancel it.

Come to find out they were still charging my mother 200 dollars for unpaid fees I was overseas at the time serving my country. They threatened her by saying they would take her court so they lied to me and scammed my mom out of 200 and some dollars. I was thinking about possibly going back to this gym but after finding out what they did to her I have no intention of ever going back there. Also the other reviews saying this place is rundown are true. place wasn’t well maintained even back then.

Shame on y’all you guys are liars and bringing down the name of Anytime Fitness. It’s a good thing I was not around at the time if not I would have raised hell.

I’ve been an Anytime Fitness member for many years and have visited locations all over the Dallas and Austin areas. I’ve always appreciated the convenience, cleanliness, and upkeep of the gyms—until I visited the Rio Rancho location.

After recently moving to the area, I was glad to see a location close to my new home. Unfortunately, one visit was all it took for me to cancel my membership. It’s clear the owner has not invested in maintaining this gym for quite some time.

The equipment is in very poor condition—everything I used felt neglected and worn down. The cardio bike I used was literally falling apart, and the leg lift machine was so worn that the pin holes were almost worn through to the next one. The gym overall showed serious signs of neglect: dirty bathrooms, exposed electrical outlets, and walls and light fixtures that haven’t seen proper upkeep in ages.

It’s disappointing to see a brand I’ve trusted for years allow a location to fall into such disrepair. I hope the franchise steps in to address the condition of this gym.

Sadly, the place has gone downhill, my husband and I have been members for years and nothing has been updated. Equipment continuously breaks down and doesn't get repaired or replaced. Cleanliness has depreciated significantly. Has so much potential but nothing has been done to make it what it could be.

Horrendous!!! I signed up for the 7 day free trial and set a time to come in for the first time. Drove 25 minutes to get to this location. I was exactly on time. Scott was a no show. I couldn't even get inside and it was cold. Definitely would not consider Anytime for my gym, ever!

I have been going to this gym for years and I absolutely love it. They have a wide variety of equipment and machines. Management is always prompt and professional. Every time I go there somebody is cleaning the gym keeping it organized and clean. I would highly recommend this gym to anybody.

Good luck trying to join. I have no idea how anyone has a membership. You can make an appointment, show up on time, call and call and call, but you’ll never get in to even see the place and no one will answer the phones anytime you call.

This place is a joke. I scheduled an appointment to sign up at 4pm today and took off early from work. No one from the office showed up and are not answering the phone even though the website states the gym is staffed until 5:30pm. I'll take my business elsewhere.

Great gym! (Don’t believe the bad reviews) I’m not from here but I travel constantly so I visit about 20-30 different anytime fitnesses per year. This gym has all the equipment that you could ask for to get a great workout in. All the equipment works and is maintained. Sure it’s a bit older but still clean and well maintained. There two nice parrots but they are in a cage and bother no one. They are not flying around freely as some reviews mentioned.
If you’re looking to get in shape and work hard this is a great spot.

Multiple members have complained about Joe Pingaot. He's very rude and arrogant! He won't answer his door and will hide in his office when members need help/ cancel memberships. This location specifically need big improvement and it lacks management.

Worst Anytime fitness I've ever been to. I've witness the manager Joe multiple times using the squat rack and not put his weights away. He would also use the leg press machine and leave his weights. You would think the manager would set a good example for members. The bathroom is filthy and urine all over the floor (especially the back room). His employees does not know how to clean and they are very lazy! no toilet paper in the restroom and hand soap. They also have a bird in this gym and it's very loud and noisy. Lots of bird poop everywhere in the waiting room. I will let my friends and family know not to come to this location specifically.

Manager Joe is never in the office and doesn’t answer his phone. This gym is very dirty and gross! Especially the shower and toilets! People don’t wipe their equipments and don’t re rack their weights. Lots of free loaders! Manager don’t seem to care for members safety.

This ATF location is great! The people that attend this gym are amazing, supportive and generally nice folks. Most keep to themselves. I've never experienced any issues or heard of any in the past 2 years I've attended. The equipment and weights are good for even the more experience lifters. The manager Joe is an amazing person, he's super friendly and always available to help. I'm not sure why this location has received lower reviews. Seems very unfair. Perhaps those folks that have given low reviews haven't really given this location or ATF a try. I take my workouts and lifestyle seriously and ATF Rio Rancho has helped me with my goals.

Beware, the gym manager gets jealous. He's not an attractive man, or manly man, so when females there don't like him, and they like other men instead, he starts fights with members.

I always went there with a woman, but it was pretty obvious that he has emotional issues concerning female members.

Stopped going there because of environmental toxins due to faulty construction on his part.

He also physically threatened an old lady when she busted him telling lies., and then called the cops on her.

( I just read that people stopped socializing there., makes sense. The other anytime fitness gyms are full of good times with friends, if you want ) Don't give up on Anytime Fitness, just contract with a sane, not a stalker ATF manager.

I've been coming to this gym a long time and it was going down hill with free loaders and vandalism going on so I stopped coming to the gym because of the riff raff going on, but I recently started going again and I've notice a big change! I joined with my husband a year ago. The improvements that the new management has implemented have dramatically improved the facility. New equipment is slowly forthcoming.

DON'T USE THIS GYM! My husband got us gym memberships last June, to help ease the stress of not working for 3 months during the shutdown. With so many restrictions, my husband rarely went, and I never stepped foot in the gym once. I contracted Covid-19 working as a nurse, and became a "long-hauler," leaving me with symptoms that made me incapable of working at my job anymore. Since we only had my husband's income, we decided that we needed to cancel our membership. Being that so many other companies were understanding and willing to help us during this difficult time, we figured that Anytime Fitness would be the same. NOPE! They ignored our calls and emails, and when my husband was eventually able to talk to somebody, they simple said "you signed a contract and have to pay." We could barely afford food, let alone $65/month for something we were not using. Anytime Fitness has now sent us to COLLECTIONS and has made our already difficult circumstances, even worse. As a former personal trainer for Anytime Fitness back in Illinois, I always wanted to support the company and use their gyms. But their lack of compassion and understanding during this pandemic has been extremely disappointing. With my current health conditions due to Covid-19, I am not supposed to be under any stress. I never would have thought that a company based on "health," would create so much stress in our lives. If and when I am healthy enough to work out at a gym again, I will be going to Defined Fitness across the street.

Employees are lazy to do anything. The father is the only one willing to help per customer. If you need any assistance I’ll just wait for the dad because anyone else won’t help until you bring the dad up. There was plenty of time we’re I felt uncomfortable with gym quality. To cancel know knows how to do it there or willing to help. So glad for defined fitness to finally open after so many years.

I have been going to this gym for about 4 year and every time I go to this gym I feel disappointed. They have outdated machines and weights and if you ever have a problem they never pick up the phone and there’s never a manager on site. It just seems to be that this particular gym is the worst cause I visited other anytime gyms and they blew my mind, all new equipment from vending machine to weights. Don’t waste you time at this anytime visit other locations.

This place is an average gym for mostly consistent fitness folks. Nothing for you heavy weight brutes. What makes this place great though is Shaylene, the day worker. She is consistently nice, helpful and always cleaning the machines. They are lucky to have such a great employee!

I am mortified that Anytime Fitness Rio Rancho 87144 is filthy. The owner lacks pride in entrepreneurship. Walls are half way painted. Bathroom are always filthy. Equipment is held together by tape. This is by far the most unfavorable AF I’ve ever been to. I’m sorry to say but my 5 year membership is ending once Defined Fitness Enchanted Hills is completed.

Horrible business got activated for active duty and they refused to refund my paid up front yearly membership. (6 months that's left of it) also you can't cancel in person you have to email....found that out after calling to cancel was told to come by...than when I go to store...I get pointed to a sign on the door. I am one of those who had made a New Years Resolution to get in better shape than I was. My friend brought me here since it is open 24/7 and that is great for my schedule.

I got a 1-week free trial. Its $30+ a month for a 12-month contract. With option to pause if money gets a little tight. The management has been really helpful and friendly. And its usually pretty quiet and not jammed full of people. The machines feel a little dated. But for what it is, its a great little place.

I joined the gym in Texas. It takes 30 days to be able to go to any gym. It has not been 30 days yet This gym instead of making me have to work out when they are staffed they gave me a key fob good for the 2 weeks I am here so that I could go any time that was best for me. I really appreciate that they did this for me. I have now been able to work out when I want And I can just drop off the key fob on my last day. VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF.. and when I have been going everyone in the gym has been very nice

Place is a rip off, the way they charge people is ridiculous. I told them I wanted my membership canceled and it's a month to month, well two months later without me going to the gym they have collections calling me for 120+$$ uh hello I haven't even been inside the place... why would I pay them? So now they have a collections ruining my credit. Guaranteed this place closes down with this kind of practice. Whole reason I canceled is because they have no one cleaning this place. There's roaches in the bathroom and people who go in there just horse around. They sit on the equipment on their cellphones and scream at the top of their lungs. Not a good workout.

I go to this gym because it's down the street and I enjoy being able to work out anytime, day or night. I can't say much for the employees since I've never asked them for help or needed anything from them. There isn't a whole lot of variety when it comes to equipment but it's enough to get the job done. If you live very close it's just fine and worth the convenience, otherwise explore all your options. The people who go to this gym are very friendly, at least the ones at night are.

I was only able to reach the owner once for a meeting and he was a no show. I have the prime fitness through insurance so I had to go to another anytime fitness to get my fob. This gym is very close to my house so I use it on occasion. I went in last night to workout and there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms, no cleaning wipes and or spray/paper towels. The machines are run down and need to be replaced and I was too grossed out to get on a machine because I knew people had been on them all day and not cleaning them. This is the worst gym I have ever been to. And as someone else mentioned, the owner posting a 5 star review is terrible.

No service. Before I talk much I think it's important to note that the 3.2 rating here is artificially increased as a rating. The club owner gave himself a 5 star rating but his patrons don't share the sentiment. No times posted on the door other than 10- and no closing time. I've been by at 10, at 1 and at 3 and called during normal business hours to never have my call returned or answered. All this and I'm not a member yet. If it's this hard to find the owner or staff to give them my money, how will their customer service be when they take my money? I think the other reviewers showed the true colors. This business model is setup so that all you need to do is be there during hours, return calls and fix customer issues. After that the money just comes in auto billed each month. Don't take money and then slap in the face of customers that you get their money for doing nothing. Just work for it.
FYI Noel should be of good business ethic and remove his self promotion of 5 starts until he can earn them by giving good customer service.

I'm glad this venue works for some of you. Unfortunately, it is not friendly to new people. I got my membership as a benefit from my health plan. All I got was a key fob and a card for a trainer I could not reach. I went in anyway and a very nice lady tried to help but she was so busy. She gave me her card but again she was busy and we could not connect. Finally, weeks later I called the owner/manager who made an appointment for the following Monday 9 am. I went but she didn't show. The nice lady called her but could not reach her. I tried listing something on one of their blogs to no avail. My issue is I'm new to the gym world and just needed a couple of tips on how to get started. I assume you need to use the right equipment to avoid injury and target specific areas, right? I tried to contact another person, who never got back to me. Thankfully, my health plan tells me AF doesn't get paid if I don't go. However, that doesn't help me out any. Other than the nice lady who tried to help the first time, no one else seems to care about new people.

I have just recently signed up with a membership after passing by this gym number of years, and i wish I would have signed up sooner. I enjoy the attentiveness, friendliness and happiness of the owner- who was very helpful in accommodating to help get me back in the gym and was beyond friendly to both my son and I. I also was contacted immediately by the fitness instructor to help me complete a fitness assessment. All this attention and help i never got in any planet fitness or defined. I will continue to recommend this gym!

The customer service sucks over here noel the owner cant take care of payment s at all. I tried to cancel my membership and he forgot to do it, so i moved away and kept on getting charged. Before i knew it i was $180 in collections. I called Noel and he did not even knew who i was and did not have a answer to why i was charged so much.....maybe because he forgot to cancel my membership like said he would...... So anyways he tells me to pay him and that he will call the collection agency and take care of it..... two weeks later i get a call from the agency demanding money!!!! Yes.. he forgot to do that too... Good job Noel!!!!!

And ps i am not the only person he has screwed over...

This place is ridiculous! My fiance and I joined 5 months ago, only took him a few visits to decide this wasn't the gym for him. He cancelled his membership but I hadn't the chance to work out there and still have not due to work schedule and being out of state. I have been calling for a week now, every day at elast 3 times a day and have even stopped by there. I haven't received a return call from anyone after I have left numerous messages (8). No one was there during their "normal business hours" which on the recording say 11am-7pm M-F. I am beyond annoyed by these people. I've called the emergency # which states if there is a club "emergency" to call. God forbid anyone hurt themselves or really do have an emergency because no one will return or answer their calls. I've called my bank to stop payment to them since that is the only way I can cancel my memebership. I'm sure based on these other ratings that they will try to continue charging me. This is the worse gym ever and I would never refer anyone to them.

WHEN YOU TRY TO CANCEL MEMBERSHIP THEY KEEP ACCESSING YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. I cancelled my membership in 2008 to date they keep auto drafting my checking account. I closed my checking account and they accessed my new account!! I've been trying for years now to get them to stop and as of today March 27, 2012 I am still being billed $36.43 per month. I have not been to this gym since 2008! I have been billed over $1700 from 2009 - 2012 without "ONE" visit. I've called and emailed them without resolution.
