We wanted to ask about the gym and the membership and the front desk forced both of us to fill the form. One person filling out is not enough apparently. I rejected to fill and I was asked to leave.
You lost new members because of this.

I went here about 8 years ago and hated it. That being said, I rejoined this past year and the weight lifting equipment is greatly improved, the gym seems better kept up and staff and friendly. I will stay this time around.

Visiting family from out of town and dropped in to the Bosque location for 2 days. Gorgeous facility & great amenities! Your staff was all so friendly & welcoming, including GM & AGM. Fantastic group fitness schedule with such a phenomenal variety of options for all fitness levels! I attended 4 classes while visiting and they were all really, really great. The members were also really nice! Both times I was there, there was someone diligently cleaning the bathroom/locker room. Great vibe, great gym, great offerings... great job! Thank you for fulfilling my fitness needs while I visited.

Pros: gym lay out; location close to my work; swimming pool is decent
Cons: ladies locker room and showers need some attention - especially some cleaning; all of the showers only produced cold water and since I was new, I asked the other women if it was just me and they replied it's a frequent problem; steam room has not been in working order for some time according to the regulars I chatted with

Man I absolutely loved this location the staff was awesome and the people I’ve met there were some of the most amazing I’ve come across. The pool, steam room and specially hot tub were a BIG bonus. I went for years and years then the pandemic hit and after that I got sick and wasn’t able to pay. Even though there is a DF about 5mins away from me I drove the extra 25mins away specifically to go to that location. I want to go back so bad but but don’t know if I would be able to pay the $49.95 a month. I’ve heard of programs that help you pay or fully pay for your gym membership but don’t know if that really true or someone just spinning my wheels. Any way I would DEFINITELY recommend this location to anyone thinking about joining.

Wanted a free trial to test out the gym because I’m moving near one in Rio rancho, was told by employees that there was no such thing and I could either pay $20 for a day pass or sign up for a membership and pay a $100 initial fee or if I signed up for a 12-month commitment, they would wave the initial fee. Trusting the employee on what he said and knowing I would be close, I signed up for the 12-month commitment. Later found out there is a free trial you can sign up for online so either the employee lied to me so he can get a commission or he doesn’t know the basics of the deals and services defined offers. Was also charged a $14 dollar fee even though I was told there would be no fee. Was also told that I would have one guest pass to use but when I went to a different location with a friend who didn’t have a membership, I was told a guest pass doesn’t exist. Employees either don’t know their job or are just lying in order to get commissions, either way defined is an extremely unprofessional gym that charges too much for rusted mediocre equipment.

Needs more upkeep as far as daily disenfecting, cleanliness, very old, and dated facility. There are missing tiles in showers, the ceiling is rotted and moldy in shower room, lockers are broken or dirty and scary looking inside, the pool has green algae at the bottom, and there's an overall bad odor in steam room. Steam room has a steam tube busted out. In men's shower, wall is peeling off. Hot tub constantly has white foam in it.

Jim overall is solid. I have used everything from free weights to the white racks and all them equipment on the turf. Our primarily uses Jim for the pool sound and steam room which unfortunately is under maintenance quite a bit. I do love the spin classes and yoga classes all the instructors are pretty awesomein compared to some other locations. This one does seem great smashed with equipment and people.

I read the reviews and hesitated to make a complaint regarding the cold water issue in the pool today. I understand from reading reviews that some memberships have been canceled because have registered complaints, but I made it anyway. Over an hour ago I spoke with DeShaun who told Mr he would check out the situation and call me back. I don't believe DeShaun is a manager. BUT today apparently is the MOD. The pool was uncomfortably cold today, so I I was unable to convince my body in to the cold water, so I went back to the locker room, changed and went home and now I am waiting for a call and hoping that they don't cancel my membership.

The five star rating is really not directed at the club in this post. Define Fitness is a fine club and I have been a member for longer than I can remember. But I wanted to give a shout out to Kevin at the Bosque location. I have an Android phone and my Defined Fitness app bummed out on New Year's. I have been unable to get it to work and when inquiring at the clubs it didn't seem like anybody was familiar with how to fix it although they had heard of several other members having the same issue. Today I stopped at the Bosque Club and the manager Kevin greeted me I told him my app wasn't working and with a smile he said let's fix that. After barely a minute he was able to send me a link to reset my password relieving me of nearly two months of frustration having to give my phone number instead of just scanning in. Just wanted to say thanks to Kevin for helping me out.

Love this gym but only problem I had was with this tall dude Drives a big truck with construction company stickers always parks in the front walks around with a limp socializing and hogging up 3 machines went and took one of them and he tried to step up and say he was using it that's super annoying, I don't know if staff allows this but dude definitely needs to be educated on gym rules and respect for other gym members or have his membership revoked. Some people are actually trying to exercise get in and out no socialize.

I would give this facility zero stars if I could. The general manager is one of the worst and most unprofessional individuals I have ever come across. Not surprising, considering that he is not qualified for the position whatsoever, and is just one of their top earning fitness trainers. Not only is the facility extremely dirty and my husband contracted shingles virus, it's basically impossible to get through to the HR office seen as how their message machine is full and they never return phone calls or even answer the phone. Please don't waste your time on any complaints to the manager as he will suspend your account for no reason and you have to spend the next week trying to get it reinstated with an HR company that doesn't answer their phone. I would never recommend this gym to anybody! Please spend your money elsewhere.

Absolutely terrible. I will be telling everyone I meet that Defined Fitness are a bunch of scammers. I am out of state and can’t cancel my membership. I am told that I must come in in-person to cancel (yet somehow I can renew my contract and make a payment over the phone). Tomorrow is the 24th of December so they are going to try and charge me for January if I don’t cancel by then, even though I’ve given them no less than three written notices. This is unacceptable and it feels very scammy. Just let me cancel my membership!!!!

We visited this club with high expectations but I was disappointed.
The staff were very slow registering my husband for the renew active membership and insisted on taking two credit card numbers, despite our not having any fees or charges.
The locker rooms, showers and pool are all dated and a bit grubby. One shower had a big hole in the wall, in another one the handle went round and round without doing anything, and the one I used had a control that was upside down and backwards for hot & cold.
To register up you have to sign a bunch of times without actually seeing what it is you are signing. This is VERY sketchy.
Look elsewhere.

I've been at this gym since it opened, but they have let it go downhill. Not a single cardio machine has a working TV, (WTH?) the roof is always leaking or dripping condensation, and some of the equipment is past it's prime, like the Smith/rack machine w/ the bar that's supposed to slide back and forth, as well as up/down. (It doesn't)
The staff are great and the members are the best, but most of us go there just out of habit/loyalty, not for the quality. The new DF in Rio Rancho is 10x's nicer, the Bosque spot needs to keep up!

They charge way more than other gyms like Chuze but can’t even get their A/C working. It is unbearably hot in this gym. I’d understand if the A/C went out for a few days but it has been WEEKS.
Update: I’ve talked to an employee and they said they should be getting in new ac units, however for this amount of inconvenience defined should give some sort of discount or credit to its members for the months of the unbearable heat. At the very least at least a free drink from the fridge.

I have a lot of physical limitations due to arthritis and old injuries. I've been working with a PT, Marah. I've been going here since last summer. I especially like the pool. There is always a lane available and the water is the perfect temperature. The hot tub is ideal for relaxing between laps. I've used the services of two of the personal trainers for the machines and for exercising. Both of them were awesome. I love all of the big windows around the top of the gym with light streaming in. And, everyone is there purely for working out. No one chats with each other or makes eye contact. It is definitely not a pick up scene! I highly recommend this gym!

I can understand implementing a policy that members who stay late excessively may be warned/have their membership revoked. But to have that policy and NOT ONCE during the last hour, announce the gym was closing; or the the gym was closed when it was closed, makes no sense and it's misleading. I have respect for the employees time, but having the courtesy of a heads up would go along way, instead of giving a FIRST STRIKE in a 3 STRIKE SYSTEM that can lead to you losing a gym membership you find necessary for ones own mental health. Especially taking into account that some members are finishing workouts in areas where they
a) Can't see a clock and it would be damaging to electronics to bring them
b) are finishing with basic hygiene practices where there are also no clocks and where one might not be focused on their phone
Or
c) May be visually impaired and depend on an AUDIO QUE to inform their decisions.

I was looking for a quality gym with a Sauna and the Bosque Defined Fitness was exactly what I needed. Plenty of great machines, racks, lifting platforms, free weights, and cardio machines. There is a nice turf area (approximately 35-45ft long/ 20ft width). I didn't use the pool but there was one there, and in the same area is the Sauna. The Sauna is a good size (~8 by ~12ft) and was decently hot (160-170F I'd guess), non gender specific.
I was greeted by friendly staff (A nice lad named Sami) and they were equally friendly when I left (Also thanks to Selena and Elijah).
While it was only one day I was there for nearly 3 hours (including sauna time) but it passes my requirements for all round good gym. If I lived nearby it would definitely be top of my choices of gyms to be a member of.

They will scam you out of your money. Moving out of state, called via phone and was told they couldn't cancel my membership unless I came in. I came into the location and now I'm told to come back because there's not a manager present.
I'll call tomorrow and try to cancel my membership, again, for the third time. We'll see what dumb excuse they have for me then.
Update: I called the Central and Unser location and they said they don't need a manager to cancel memberships. I went back into Bosque and told them that the other location doesn't need managers, and they doubled down and said the location on Bosque requires it. So it's only the Bosque location that does this.
I just called Xfinity and was able to cancel my membership over the phone. The Bosque DF location will try to convince you it's reasonable for them to require all these things for you to cancel your membership, but it's not. Ridiculous and predatory practices.
Gym is constantly busy and there's no way to get a good workout. It sucked. The parking is also awful, there's just a small lot for the entire gym. I should have stuck with Anytime Fitness for sure.

Decent gym overall and been going there for a year. Like all gyms, machine availability is very dependent on the time you go. I haven't used the hot tub/pool, but the on floor weights/machines are good.
A year ago I signed up for a Physical Trainer and have had several in the past. Some of them are hit or miss on getting your goals. If you go to Bosque, I would very much recommend Caleb Henning as a PT. He has a great energy, clearly enjoys fitness and brings that to each session. Has a great knowledge base and will help you get to your goals. When I started with him, I was a little overweight and very out of shape. He helped me get into shape, lose 20lbs, and then gain it all back in muscle. I've never been as in-shape or muscular as I am right now, just due to his training.

I went last Saturday and I went to the wet area where the whirlpool only had one jet working. The sauna wasn't hot. Where is the quality control at this gym? With the new gyms in town that have working saunas and whirlpools I can't understand the mediocre upkeep of equipment! There is now competition for memberships! I guess this is good enough for some members but not for me. Years ago when the steam room was working the place was busy. Now it's like nobody cares to keep the equipment working correctly.

Defined Fitness is usually an amazing gym. However, this locations amenities barely work. Half of their stair steppers have been down for more than a year, it took them more than 6 months to get the only hip thrust machine to start working again, and much more. It would be a lot easier to get machines when it’s crowded if the machines just worked.

Disappointed that they permanently closed the steam room. I've always wanted to join defined and one of the reasons was to use the steam room. You have the sauna open and there are lots of people in there why cant you reopen the steam room? Doesn't make any sense.

The roof needs repairs, always leaking, fans and pipping are covered in gross dust bunnies, women’s locker room ceiling is falling apart and they never clean the showers or the curtains. I workout 6/7 days a week. It’s sad if abq had better competition maybe it would motivate the owners to invest in renovating their current locations vs throwing money into new ones while the old ones just run themselves into the ground. Front desk can barely take 2 seconds to look up from their phones to greet you. Not worth the monthly dues but not many options in abq.
The response is always the same generic script. They can’t even be real about addressing feedback, but brush it off instead of put action behind their intentions to create a good environment.

Wish they would fix their leaking roof water drips from almost every skylight. Fix their broken sauna door and maybe put a thermometer in the sauna so we could see how warm it is in there. From time to time it doesn’t seem like it’s hot just warm. Other than that it’s a nice gym.

I've been a member now for 5ish years. I can honestly say up until now I've been completely satisfied with this gym. And my only complaint is with the bosque club location. All the others I occasionally go to, I don't have any complaints. As I frequent the bosque club the most. I can honestly say I'm fed up. They have out grown themselves as far as membership goes.( which I know isn't bad as a business.) But it makes the customer experience terrible. My main issue is. It seems like half of their equipment is broken and never gets fixed. It's one of the older locations and the equipment shows its
age. Combine broken equipment and overcrowding means about three times a week I cannot finish a complete workout. And I have spoken with other members with the same experience. Bosque please renovate and update your facility, equipment, and layout so that we can all enjoy our membership. I'm now getting a second membership to another gym to help elevate some of these issues for myself.

As a chain in New Mexico, they aren’t bad…..this location…aweful …. almost all the equipment is broken or in need of some
repair.
The staff try but all will tell you corporate does not support them and they knew the equipment is in bad shape.
We are talking stair steppers that skip steps, bench’s that don’t have the handle to make the adjustments or weight bars that are bent. Easy fix’s you would think but it’s for sure a dump and their worst location.

This gym is close by, and I was interested in personal training. I also thought it might be less packed than other places. It turned out that being unable to get to a machine was a common issue (often b/c they allow members to "hold" 3 or 4 stations at a time to do supersets), but that's not the reason for my rating.
My rating is because the place is just terribly managed, especially with respect to personal training. It is hard to attribute this to the general manager since they can't seem to keep a general manager for any length of time. I attribute that to poor, or nonexistent, corporate leadership.
I paid for 3 months of training, with training twice per week. So that's eight sessions per month. I explained my availability with both the training manager (Silas) and the trainer assigned to me (Trinity), and neither said it was a problem. In fact, the trainer said "that's perfect for me." I guess it wasn't so perfect, given that in the first month, I only received 3 training session, two of which were back-to-back on the same day because my trainer had to reschedule a session.
I explained up front that having some type of program or purpose for the training was important to me. I didn't just want to come in an do a trainer's exercise of the day. It should be thoughtful. The training manager laid out this multi-month plan and said that was how it was going to work. Obviously, he either didn't share that with his trainers or he didn't have effective expectations that they'd use it.
My trainer would not schedule set times/days of the week, preferring to schedule the following week, one week at a time. So there already was no plan. He canceled or rescheduled multiple times. He lied to his training managers stating that I had canceled; however, I produced all the text messages which indicated that I never canceled...I merely offered alternate times for when the trainer canceled. By the last week of the month, I had trained 3 times rather than the 8 that I paid for, and I had been ghosted by the trainer who had not responded to my rescheduling texts from the last session, which he had TWICE canceled.
So, I talked to the training manager. We discussed assigning me a different trainer. None matched my time availability. He tried to make me feel like that was my fault, as if my availability was unreasonable. I was available at 6pm or after Tu and Th; at 630pm or after Mo and We; 3pm or after on Fridays; and anytime on weekends. Unless trainers only work bankers' hours, that is a reasonably flexible schedule. Having exhausted that option, I asked to cancel, which required a $100 cancelation fee. Keep in mind, I only received 3 of the 8 sessions that I paid for AND I was charged a cancelation fee...not because I didn't want to train any longer, but because Trinity constantly canceled (for things like dinner with nana and tending to "Thanksgiving things") and because there is unduly limited trainer availability.
The money really wasn't the issue. In fact, I was financially prepared for, and fully committed to, a lengthy (at least 1-2 years) personal training journey. The problem is the principle. Extremely unprofessional behavior, followed by being charged a penalty of sorts for not getting what I bargained for. Additionally, there has been no indication that they have addressed the underlying issues.
I have tried contacting the corporate offices. I wanted to ensure they knew of the issue and I thought I might even explore training at another of their facilities that did have the trainer availability. I also mentioned that the general manager, who said he couldn't even get corporate to respond to him--that's a moot point now, though, because he has departed after a very short tenure (as seems to be the typical pattern there). The corporate phone number takes you to a voice mail box that "doesn't accept messages", so there is no way to contact them.
UPDATE: Owner replies, "sorry to hear of your frustration" but not sorry about their actions. Contacting me would show seriousness; posting a cookie-cutter reply doesn't.

I've been attending studio cycling classes at Defined for over a decade, with over 300 classes to date. Today was the first time I showed up for a class and the instructor didn't show up. Not even a substitute. Plus, the staff didn't bother to notify the participants that there would be no class. Note that this review is for today. Normally I would give Defined a 5 star review, but today was unacceptable.

The equipment here is fairly nice and they have as much as they can fit in a location this size. The staff is nice and so were the other members. However this location needs a top to bottom deep clean. It isn't overly dirty or gross but it certainly has the smell indicative of needing a deep clean.

This place is an absolute disaster. It is so moist inside that the floors are slippery, and there are puddles of water everywhere. The equipment is so disgusting and dirty, the bathrooms are filthy, musty, and moldy. There used to be staff that did rounds and restocked and cleaned, but now the staff all congregate behind the front desk and do nothing. A pretty poor experience for $40 a month.

I thought this gym was okay, definitely better than Chuze, but had some issues with it. Then I checked the reviews on this place and immediately changed my mind about getting a membership here.
Pros: Spacey, decent locker room, plenty of equipment, 2/5 amenities work.
Cons: Showers don't work half the time, Jacuzzi is not filled with enough water to touch your chest, steam room is used as a storage room while having no signs of being out of order, showers look like they're straight out of a horror movie, and based on my and others' experience, the staff and person overseeing the Google reviews doesn't seem too interested in any feedback given about this gym. Go elsewhere!

Enjoyed going to this gym the short period of time I was in Albuquerque. When I signed up I told them that I would go to Arizona at times for work and be there for months at one time. They told me I was allowed to freeze my account when I left and I would only be charged $10. Well fast forward I’ve been gone three months and I get a charge of $150 and called to dispute the transaction. I told them and made them aware when I was leaving and now they tell me there’s no way to tell when I froze my account, but that it was just showing one month ago and there was nothing to do about the $150 transaction. I will be canceling my membership and advising others to go elsewhere. No consideration or remorse for their wrong doing. Shame on them.

Clean with an amazing layout of equipment but attracts a lot of “influencers.” You might be in the background of some of their videos and photos so if that’s something you’re not okay with then please consider that before signing the binding contract.
The gym can get very busy at times but if you keep your head down, mind your own business, and naturally focus on your workouts as you should you will have a great workout and experience. It does have a lot of great amenities to offer. I loved the interior design which provided a relaxing experience during each workout :)
Would have loved to give it the full 5 stars but the cancellation nightmare stories are unfortunately true. It took me three months with consistent follow up emails, calls, and even a certified letter (that was returned) to completely cancel. A friendly recommendation would be to cancel at least 2-3 months in advance if you relocate or switch gyms.

Pros:
The gym itself is spacious and fairly clean. The front desk folks are friendly and the teachers for the classes are pretty legit.
Cons:
I would like to preface this by saying I regret not listening to the other reviewers about some of the nonsense that occurs at Defined fitness. I have never had an experience like this with a business before. When I signed up I was told about an opportunity to get 3 fitness training trial to see if it was something I’d be interested in. I decided to go for it and sign a contract which I deeply regret. I will say my trainer seemed knowledgeable and personable however communication and trying to schedule appointments was impossible. I had to reschedule because of getting Covid and my trainer didn’t respond to me trying to schedule an app so I had to go through his boss. I was stood up the first time because of a computer error and then the next time because my trainer was out of town. Nobody communicated with me. Another trainer messaged me the day before asking if we could reschedule to which I responded in confusion because she was not my trainer. She said to disregard her message. I don’t think anyone communicated with her either. After that I decided to get out of the contract because it was more stressful than anything else. I canceled on the middle of July however I was still charged for fitness training in August. I have been trying to get a refund but with very little luck. My form was apparently “lost”. I am very disappointed and unhappy with the fitness training program.. I am happy to update this review of the money ever returns but at this point I wouldn’t hold my breath. I feel scammed and frustrated.
Update: my money was finally returned so I am changing my review to 3.5 stars. I do appreciate that at the end of the day defined fitness stayed true to their word.

I had decided to cancel my membership in the beginning of July as I had just got back in town and realized I wouldn't be needing to come to the gym anymore. I called in and asked to see if it was possible to cancel my membership online and was directed to email Anthony Paez to be able to cancel. I emailed him right as I ended the call with their staff and patiently waited for a response but a couple days go by and no answer. I decided to drive up there and see what the problem was and was told that he was out "sick" but was able sign a cancellation form with another staff member and she had advised me that I would be getting an email to confirm the cancellation. It's been 2 weeks since then and I haven't received a single email back from the general manager like they said I would. I had drove up there myself again earlier today to tell them that I haven't got a response and when trying to email their general manager again, it had said this email was no longer in use. I finally got a confirmation that it was cancelled today by the staff and was also informed that their general manager that I've been trying to email was no longer working there because he was known for not letting people cancel their memberships. In conclusion I think that this club's customer service is absolutely terrible and cancelling your membership shouldn't be this complicated.

The location is way too small for the current members...in addition the equipment is old, sticks, is constantly under repair rather than being replaced with new equipment. Disappointed... Not what it used to be for sure. I recently re-joined. Glad to be back at the gym. However i signed up for two main reasons. One the kids club. Me and my wife used this gym for awhile. When she signed up, with our kid. After signed the one year contract, they tell her the kids club is closed. What did they think she was gonna do with our child. (They're working on getting it open. But might have mentioned something considering there was a child with her.) 2nd the wet area. They have the steam room closed. I asked when it would be open again. And the said they're getting rid of it for sanitation. I get that, but if all your competitors can have them. Why not, it wasn't an issue in the past. Also the bathroom are never clean, no soap or paper towels 80% the time. If sanitation is the issue. Open the steam room and clean the bathroom! I spoke with several people talking about all the deals and amenities of the competitors. Talking about trying out 7 day free trials. They are losing people over little thing's.

!!!DO NOT USE THIS GYM COMPANY!!!
My husband and I signed up for a membership with Defined Fitness about 2 years ago. In the fall of 2021, I physically went to the Bosque location to cancel our memberships. I spoke with a girl at the front desk who advised me I could avoid paying the cancellation fee and freeze my account until January 2022, then I'd have to call and cancel the memberships in January to avoid being charged monthly. I paid $40 to freeze the accounts.
January rolls around, I call to cancel the membership, I spoke with a general manager named Anthony. He advised that he would send over the paperwork for cancellation. I checked my inbox and spam folders everyday and received nothing. I called again when they charged me for the 2 memberships. I advised that I was supposed to receive cancellation paperwork and never did, which was on purpose, I'm sure.
I was charged again in February and March. I spoke with the same manager, Anthony, he acted as if he didn't remember that we had spoken. I told him I wanted a refund for the months I had been charged for, as I had been trying to cancel our memberships since JANUARY! He advised that I had to pay $75 to cancel the memberships and that he AGAIN would send me the cancellation paperwork. So, I have to pay $75 because you don't know how to train your employees to do their jobs properly? Okay? I pay the $75 (which was worth it to me to be done with this garbage company.) I'm told I will receive cancellation paperwork again, never got it.
I am charged AGAIN this month for the memberships I just paid $75 to cancel. I finally spoke with a competent manager named Glen, who refunded me for April and sent me an email that served as a cancellation confirmation. This company is training scam artists, BEWARE!!
If you have had a similar experience at ANY of these locations, PLEASE report them to the BBB!

They have good equipment and are clean and in good condition however it is costly.
When our Governor Grisham decides to initiate the mask mandate, DF socialist society staff will try and enforce this mandate but have no training in customer service skills and tended to be rude and kick you out if you do not comply, especially manager Anthony, he despised our exchange so much he would not allow me to start my membership again after the mask mandate has been lifted.
I would have to go to another location to do it and if I came back to the bosque club even with a membership I was informed Anthony could still force me out due to the spite he has towards me for speaking up about my opinion towards the way he decided to have me vacate the gym.
I feel that I am being discriminated because I have an opinion that I prefer to breathe in healthy air.
I hope this review helps anyone who is considering returning to this Gym.

I don't go to this gym as much as I used to. I've been a long time member that signed up when the club opened its first gym. Ive noticed big changes some good others mind boggling. My wife and I used to go in Sundays and workout and swim. It was very enjoyable. The steam, sauna and pool were great. The steam was the best in the city. It was great.
Now the steam is shut down and half the time the whirpool is down. Many members are confused as to why the steam rooms are closed? This is a big draw and its very good for your health. The members that used to use the steam room now squeeze into the packed dry sauna.
