Defined Fitness is a scam. None of the clubs have access to their own corporate office, and they refuse to let you cancel your account or membership directly. Instead, they run you in circles while continuing to charge your card. A gym should make cancellation simple, but Defined Fitness hides behind policies and roadblocks just to squeeze extra money out of people. Avoid this place if you value honesty and fair treatment.

What’s the point of giving my bank information not having to worry about getting wagged over like a kid in trouble and tell me I missed a payment and another late fee is slapped on, not even informing me until it’s too late. No text, no voice mail and no email about my recurring payment. The only email I got was my receipt for my cancellation, Terrible tech system.
their annual fee charged only after 2-3 months after joining? Nah, I just paid for the cancellation fee after that. Just feels too scammy. Really tried to give it a chance, liked seeing family and friends here and the staff is friendly and helpful but dealing with all that is demoralizing.

I am a bit spoiled coming from Lifetime Fitness and The Hive in Scottsdale so I am used to nutritionists, cryotherspy, towels after shower, q-tips, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, private showers and family shower rooms. I miss it but this is as close as it gets to there. The machine that brings out wet clothes is toast, machines need to be re-padded.

The staff is great. Overpriced. Price is even higher if you factor in the yearly "service charge," which is just another way for them to charge more money and try to make you feel good about it. And if you're a dedicated customer and stick around after your first years' contract, they reward you with raising your rates. Yee haw!

Did not appreciate the lack of customer service and being grilled about my late fee infront of other customers. Associate was very rude and even after I explained I would take care of it on the 18th she continued to grill me. $20 late fee for a $40 membership is insane..... also where are all the late fees being distributed. My favorite machines are falling apart and Santa Fe looks brand new. I hate that i have friends who get their fees waved all the time and im never offered any leanencey(Guess its who you know). Steve lien use to lead with exceptional customer service and understanding, things have really gone down hill since then. I didnt appreciate the experience today and now im not paying a single fee. Will be sure to look up what businesses associations your club is involved with to share my concern too.

Payed exactly Decmeber first.. still wanted to charge me fee. Employee said Defined fitness just wants to make extra money.. dont we all.. some of us the honest way. This is my secondary gym and i work out 4 sundays a month. Still havent fixed any of the 5 AMT trainers (Falling apart) and Santa Fe club has nice ones. They dont care about farmington or customer service.

Great place with a friendly staff. From what I've seen they have the most to offer of any gym in Farmington. You may pay a few dollars more than most places though not by alot, but they have great machines, classes for different levels, lots of space, a locker room, showers, a sauna, hot tub and swimming pool. Definitely the most bang for your buck. Very flexible hours too.

They will not even give you membership cost info without giving them all your marketing info. Then laugh when you refuse to sign an excercise waiver that should be signed when you join. I was checking for my son. I had no intention to join myself and informed them of that from beginning. Manager was no better than employee.

I am leaving a review for Joseph Rivera, a personal trainer at Defined Fitness Farmington. I've been in fitness all of my life & needed to revamp my lifting routine, resolve a quad dominance issue effecting my running & work on mobility issues. I started with the buy 2 get the 3rd training session free offered by Defined. Joseph keeps up with the latest research & has surpassed all of my expectations I had in working with him. I now work with Joseph once a week & been doing so for 3 months. I have noticed muscle hypertrophy & improved overall mobility. As an aging athlete, I believe he is not only improving my fitness goals but also helping me with longevity in all my activities. Joseph is an exceptional trainer, an asset to Defined Fitness.

I went in to reinstate my membership yesterday, post partem mom ready to get back into it… the best part was going to be Kids Camp, where I hoping I could trust that my kids would be safe while I attended a Zumba class. I arrived early to make sure my kids were comfortable and that the Kids Camp employees knew exactly where I was in case the baby needed a change or either of them became uncomfortable. My partner decided to pick them up halfway through my Zumba class. I was going to meet him at the door, but he got there first. The front desk waved him in without showing a membership or asking his name, the employees at Kids Camp just let him take both girls (one of which can’t talk and was screaming with a wet diaper) and the other who was throwing a fit calling for her mommy … they didn’t ask his name or to see ID, I hadn’t warned them he was coming and by the time I walked the short distance from the Zumba room to the kids camp to help him get them he had gotten them and was out the door (due to the close proximity to the front door that kids camp is located). HE COULd HAVE BEEN ANYBODY. I would not leave your kids there, unfortunately, you cannot trust that they will find you in the gym if something were wrong or that they will not let your kids leave with any random person who claims to known them. I called and the manager did not seem to take my concern seriously. So I am leaving this review in hopes that the owner will see and seriously consider changing the policy where Kids Camp is concerned. Not to mention the big windows facing the parking or is where kids camp is so the whole parking lot can basically just see your kids… the blinds should AT LEAST be drawn at all times but preferably the location of kids camp should be inconspicuous where the only the people who have kids really need to know where it is and someone would have to walk through the entire gym (and past many witnesses). For the amount of traffic in and out of that gym I see this as a major problem to be addressed. If you are taking responsibility for others kids you must be RESPONSIBLE.

Also, the door to kids camp did open from the inside for me (when it’s only supposed to open from the outside) so I told the manager he should check the lock on it but he didn’t seem to believe me or think that was a concern.

Not to mention the contract I “signed” was never given to me beforehand to read, only emailed in retrospect so who the heck knows what you’re signing. I suggest physical readable copies of the contract as well.

It's a nice gym that has a lot to offer. Once they got their equipment fixed, things are much better. It would be 5 stars, but the staff really needs work. Most of them, not all, just stare at you as you enter and exit, without greeting you or thanking you for coming in. Sometimes taking selfies or gossiping with their friends rather than saying anything. Seems very unprofessional to me.

Update: you all really stepped your game up! Fantastic service up at the front desk and all machines running smoothly. I can’t say how thankful I am to be greeted with smiling people with great attitudes.

My personal trainer, Tristeen, is awesome. I recently joined this gym at the recommendation of my physical therapist. Tristeen is very knowledgeable, thorough and caring. My therapist gave me an outline of what she wants me to do to outside of clinic and Tristeen provided me with a great program to facilitate it all.

Joined recently and only been a few times so far, but my initial experience has been great. Lots of good machine and free weight options, and it seems that they have addressed some cleaning and maintenance issues mentioned in past reviews. So far so good; definitely beats the pants off the only other gym I ever joined and lower monthly cost (Anytime Fitness is $75 and cramped/crowded and has some shady fee policies)

Pretty worried about the cleanliness of the showers and the locker rooms especially in the men’s locker room. The shower stalls sometimes look like they need extra attention. Most of the staff is welcoming, however some just stare at you and the atmosphere in the gym is not very inviting. Other gym goers just stare at you like they’re pissed off cause you’re there trying to workout, they’re not very friendly and I can’t stand some do the film without your permission it’s so annoying. I have to leave the area I’m working out in just to make room for them to film and show off cause they’re definitely not doing it for educational purposes.

I have been a member for around ten years and the entire staff are professional and courteous. It has come to my attention that Leo is now the manager. I am happy for him and customers like my self for his assistance with all matters. I must say there are not any duties that he shies away from regarding cleanliness, patron concerns, insurance questions, and lots of other issues. He is extremely professional with everyone and I commend his for his new role at the Farmington Center

The only reason I and my wife joined this gym is because it has a great pool. As it turns out, the pool is barely cleaned with the same mildew noted along staircase. I complained yesterday about this and very murky and salty hot tub water that is visibly dingy. I was told they clean the pool every evening. I think not. Today the pool was all with salty water. After one lap I had to exit the pool for hygiene concerns. I am a visiting oncologist physician in this town and very disappointed in my choice. Paid 100 dollars for myself and another 100 dollars for my wife for one month worth of gym service. It’s a gym without service. No service even after not so low fees. Do not recommend it for serous athletes who are into swimming

The gym is decent, but watch your bank statements. I've been a member for years now. This past month, I made an over the counter payment of my monthly fee due to a KNOWN system error that has failed to pull out my automatic payments these last few months. A few days later, an automatic withdrawal occurred that pulled out an additional late fee on top of a new member fee. In fairness, I was refunded the new member fee... But not the late fee; the rational is that I should have paid January's membership fee before it was due. True, however, their* payment system was down the last week of December and the first week of January. Smh! Still, I dont see how defined can pull out an automatic payment of supposed fees yet constantly fail to take out a basic monthly membership fee.

I went to define for a year. I cancelled with the old manager. I apparently owed 42.00 this balance was sent to collections in ABQ. I then was given a number to call to pay my balance off. I kid you not I called and emailed several times. With no return phone call or email. I spoke with Leo the new manager once and he informed me he would get ahold of them. I left several messages with Leo and no return call whatsoever.

Could you guys actually fix things? I don’t like getting scrapes and abrasions on equipment because you can’t be bothered to maintain equipment.
9 treadmills are broken or have errors codes.
Vast majority of equipment has deteriorating upholstery that also has exposed staples that cause cuts.

Equipment is completely falling apart! Hardly any treadmills work. I tried five before I found one that worked. Cable machines are not smooth. No one is cleaning equipment anymore from what I can tell. This is why you get staph infections at gyms. These can cause abrasions and cuts! Honestly frustrated. This is becoming a health and safety issue. No new equipment is ever added. No upgrades of any kind since I’ve been going here, 2010.

3 of us went to sign up at this gym. Since we aren’t for the area. The lady gave us a family “deal” for two weeks for $20 each. And that we were able to go until January 5. We all went the next day. Only to be told if we canceled our membership. Then we were told it was $20 for a one day pass!?! The staff aren’t well informed. Spoke to the manager. She told us that person wasn’t authorized to do that. The manager didn’t even try to make things right when we were told differently. If I know it was $20 for the day pass I would say NO!! The owners will not cancel the contracts without having attitude and extorting as much money as they can! These people are desperate and hate people canceling memberships! The fact that someone moved out of state and paid over 270$ and the owners call threatening about "sending people to collections" if they don't pay more money is a practice of thuggery and raquettering. My wife and I put our memberships on hold when we went out of town for an extended stay during the winter. We were told that would be fine and we would not be billed while we were away. After three months Defined Fitness Farmington NM started trying to bill our account but fortunately our credit card had been compromised and the number changed. As soon as I got an email saying that Defined Fitnesd was trying to charge our credit card I notified the manager that we have been on hold and not returning due to the virus. He said that he would stop our membership and that Defined Fitnesd would stop trying to bill our credit card. Since then for five months in a row I’ve been notified they’re trying to charge my credit card and I have been calling and talking to the manager at Defined Fitness Center in Farmington, NM and each time I am assured that our membership has been stopped or canceled and that no more billing will occur. Each month I still get notified that Defined Fitness is trying to charge my card. Imagine if my number had not been changed I would be arguing with them over a large sum of money trying to get it back.

My husband and I started our gym membership with excitement and Optimism, the staff was wonderful, the facility was clean and we loved the variety of equipment. We locked ourselves into a 12-month contract when we had the financial ability to fulfill the contract. This was before the global pandemic before the shut down before the layoffs. Then COVID 19 happened, thankfully our membership payments were put on hold for a couple of months during the shutdown. Which was great since my husband was laid off. Payments resumed in June which was hard. We had $100 left in our account they took $80 out at that point we begged them to give us a refund but they told us that was against their policy,  Defined Fitness deferred our membership for a July and August. Today we woke up and our last $60.00 in our account was gone and we were in the negative 70 more dollars. No matter how much we pleaded with the staff member we were told since we locked into a 12-month contract they would not refund our money per their policy and if I wanted to buy out the membership it would be $100. $100 dollars that we don't have. My husband has been unable to get unemployment and unable to find another job and we have no income and have been barely making it. We now have no gas in our car, I have no way now to get my 2 special-needs children to their specialist appointments. This outdated policy Defined Fitness still has in place is indifferent to those who are struggling financially through no fault of their own. Define fitness is protecting their bottom line at the expense of people who are hurting financially and who are desperate. Our checking account will continue to bounce, fees will continue to accumulate, Defined Fitness, and their policies have no compassion or empathy. We are just people trying to survive and make it through this pandemic. I guess so is defined fitness at the expense of their customers and the customer's families.

We joined Defined Fitness a few weeks ago. We chose this gym because they have child care (game changer!) and allow kids as young as 13 to workout (with an adult, of course). So far its been great! We paid $81 for our 13 year old to meet with a trainer 3x, and the trainer went above and beyond! He customized our son's workout plan and even gave him a free session because he was impressed with the hard work our son put in! They have a pool, sauna, hot tub and lots of exercise classes and equipment to choose from. We pay $119/month for 3 of us and that includes the child care. The only negative I have is that not all of the machines work properly and are in need of maintenance or something. My elliptical machine randomly quit mid workout yesterday and I lost my progress. Some of the treadmills don't incline either, and one has a tv that doesn't work. Overall, 4 stars for free child care, great staff and variety!

The facility has lots of machines and workout areas off to the side. It never seems to be overwhelmingly busy to get a good workout in a short amount of time. No waiting. Very clean. Employees and members are also very friendly and don't discriminate. I'm happy to pay a little extra to go to this place over a planet fitness or anytime fitness... because all the advertised amenities are there, and they actually work. I've been a member of a few gyms around the country over the years and this is the best one. My only criticism is to fix the slow wifi.

I love everything about it. its got everything I need for any type of workout and the kind staff helps curb the gym anxiety. I was hesitant about it myself but it's now my happy place. I've lost 110 pounds and Defined has been a major part of my success.

So far all the staff is friendly and very helpful, if ever you are in need. Most, if not all, personal trainers are very knowledgeable as well. The facility is well kept and even the people there are friendly as well. The only thing I wish they had was a full on bar (calisthenic) set- up, but with the equipment they have, I have been able to figure out ways to make it work!. Overall, extremely satisfied!

The employees greet me with a smile, they are patient and helpful with questions. The facilities are kept running as smoothly as they can be and it's clean. I love the space I have to work out in and the Zumba classes offered.

Great facility with plenty of space and equipment. They rarely have downed equipment and keep the gym very clean. The price of a membership is a little high (in my opinion) but as long as they keep doing what they are doing they will have my business.

I truly love this place! I like that there are so many machines allowing you to have options. What truly sets this gym apart from any other one in town, is the pool and sauna's! I recommend to at least give it a shot!

I was a member here for a year, and the thing that I love here is the variety of activities which you can choose. The difference with this fitness center, was that ,no one here looks at you if you are very thin or fat. Also, cultural diversity can be seen here. Navajo, Asians, Middle Eastern , Caucasians , Latinos/Latinas and even Hispanics. I enjoy their presence without any form of discrimination.

At first the only reason I started coming is because they had a pool and sauna room. I had came from anytime, and I still miss Anytime’s hours, and I realized how nice it was to have a surplus of machines. Even when the gyms packed you can still find a spot to train whatever your working that day. The staff are very focused and friendly and are always there when you need help (another big advantage compared to most gyms in Farmington) as well as very knowledgeable. If your looking to accomplish specific goals the personal trainer programs will rock your world. I have had several sessions with their trainer Tate and leave there shaking and sore every time even though I have gone to the gym fairly consistently for many years. Definitely has more resources available and a larger facility than most gyms in Farmington.

Ang's Zumba class is top notch. She always has a smile on her face, the work out is awesome, and she has new routines regularly. Very worth attending this class.

Clean, well taken care of gym. Staff are friendly and always greet you whether you’re entering or heading out after a workout. Lots of cardio machines, good mix of machines and free weights, and a functional training area with turf. Membership is a little more expensive than other gyms I’ve been to, but it’s worth it in my opinion!
