Working with Meryl was amazing! She tailored a nutrition plan to fit my needs and provides so many resources to help you adapt. She showed me the benefits of clean eating that set me up for life-long healthy eating habits and weight loss without dieting. Forget counting calories or major restrictions - she will show you a much more sane and functional way - who knew you could eat bacon and still lose weight!? It is a lot of work, but it is 100% worth it and is becoming second-nature over time.

From the get go, I've really appreciated Meryl's approach to fitness and nutrition. I'm middle aged and because of chronic illness have some mobility challenges. When I first told Meryl I really just wanted to be able to get around as I got older, she enthusiastically embraced my goals and helped me with a functional strength program. Her focus on technique, modifying exercises to accommodate my particular needs, and positive encouragement have really helped me build more strength than I thought I could. I credit my recent quick recovery from a recent total hip replacement to the strength I built before surgery.

Meryl also consulted with me on nutrition, and I'm eating better than I ever have! Her focus on the fuel I put into my body rather than a number on the scale was especially refreshing.

Meryl is my first experience with a personal trainer and I feel incredibly lucky that I landed with such a positive and effective coach.

I am 66 years old and have had rheumatoid arthritis for 20+ years - probably not Meryl's average client. I asked Meryl if she could help me maintain my mobility. She was excited with my goal and she met me where I am. Meryl has done more than help me maintain my mobility, my range of motion and flexibility has improved! I've been doing virtual training with Meryl for almost two years. I was a bit skeptical about virtual training at first, but Meryl is able to keep the workouts varied and effective with minimal equipment. I travel frequently for work and she's able to be flexible with my schedule as well as adapt workouts that are feasible in a hotel room. Meryl was also able to adapt my workouts throughout my pregnancy, from incorporating more yoga /stretching to modifying exercises. I really appreciate that she could change up an entire workout on the fly depending on how I was feeling that day. It made it much easier for me to stay active during my pregnancy, even until late in the third trimester.

If you're looking for someone who will be flexible with YOUR fitness goals (in my case, consistency and strength), Meryl is a great choice.

I would recommend Meryl's services without hesitation! I work regularly with her for personal training and also completed her 3 month nutrition package. Meryl is the best! I have had multiple knee surgeries in the past and was feeling hesitant doing certain exercises. She helped me nail down my form and technique to prevent further injury while also giving me the confidence to push myself to get stronger. When a movement truly bothered my knee we found alternative moves that worked the same muscle groups so I could keep moving forward.

Meryl has made nutrition fun for me again! I had gotten stuck in a rut when it came to what I was going to eat and eating the same “healthy” foods over and over again. She has opened my eyes to all the different ways I can use food and supplements to properly nourish my body. She has also challenged me to use different foods that I wouldn’t have ever thought to use. Nutrition protocols were provided and she did an amazing job educating me on why certain foods were recommended based on my specific nutritional needs. Over the 3.5 months we worked together my health improved greatly and most of my health concerns were not only addressed but resolved. Meryl has been such a delight to work with. She is knowledgable, flexible, laid back and incredibly professional. I've had many different trainers in the past and so I can say with confidence that she is truly outstanding. In only a few months I have gotten so much stronger than I have ever before. Her training style is calm, focused, and empowering. She pushes you to complete the last few reps but never in an overpowering drill sergeant way. I find this to be a breath of fresh air. On that note, I also really appreciate how she lets there be a comfortable silence while I am focusing on my workout. I have found previous trainers needing to fill up every silence with conversation and personally that detracted from my ability to concentrate and get the most out of my workout.

Meryl's professionalism is also something to be highlighted. She is very responsive and organized and sends out google invites for all sessions. Payment is also taken care of swiftly and without hassle. She is punctual and well-prepared for every session and her flexibility to cater to your needs is wonderful. My training sessions are always very varied and targeted towards my goals.

Meryl came highly recommended through a close friend at the perfect time for me and my husband. Several months into the pandemic lockdown, we realized that we'd fallen into a sedentary lifestyle that was doing our bodies and our sanity no favors. I joined Meryl's Zoom group workout class and it made me remember how WONDERFUL it feels to push my body and build strength. Meryl is an excellent coach; even in a group setting of varying levels Meryl knows exactly how to modify every move so that everyone is pushed appropriately.

A few months ago my husband and I started personal training together as well with Meryl and it's really taken our training to the next level. Not only has it boosted our physical fitness but I can tell a difference into our confidence in and out of the gym as well. And my clothes are fitting better, which I am extremely happy about.

The Covid pandemic necessitated a shift from my usual gym or studio classes and I did not feel motivated enough, nor enjoy, recorded classes on-line. Stress relief, as well as maintaining as much mobility and strength as possible, have been my priorities and Meryl has met me where I am. She challenges me in an encouraging and supportive way and never pushes or uses diet culture rhetoric in her training. Back in September I went to the doctors for my annual check up that included some standard blood tests. I thought nothing of it at the time. In fact, I went into the appointment thinking I was healthier than ever. I had used the quarantine period to focus on dialing in my nutrition (or so I thought), was cooking more, felt stronger than ever on the bike, did yoga regularly, etc etc. A few days later I get a call with my results saying that my A1C was in the pre-diabetic range. To say I was shocked was an understatement. I later found out that diabetes runs in my family. Once reality set in, I knew I needed to make some lifestyle adjustments STAT. I decided to seek guidance from a nutritionist, but was skeptical at first as I wanted to make sure I found one who: 1. Had experience working with endurance athletes, and 2. Was not going to push some weird weight loss agenda on me (as that was FAR from what I was looking to get out of a nutritionist). After speaking with many in the Austin area, I decided to work with Meryl at Fit & Fueled, and I could not be happier with my choice! She has helped me make real, but also attainable tweaks to my overall diet that I am able to use day to day. I am also happy to report that after working with her my A1C is no longer in the pre-diabetic range!

I did the occasional barre class but never really had a workout routine or even learned HOW to workout. My goal is to get overall strength and toning and I am so shocked at how far my body has come in 4 months. You can do the online workouts but there is so much value in training with Meryl who can teach you proper form and pace for every movement. My husband and I have been doing training once a week and Meryl is so knowledgeable with altering each workout to fit both of our goals too! Def recommend for one on one or group training!

She re-trains your idea of what you think is healthy and how your body works. I can't say enough good things about Meryl! I consider myself to be pretty knowledgable about health and fitness, and yet, she taught me a whole lot about how best to heal my body with food and supplements. I've struggled with extreme fatigue and weight gain among other symptoms for a few years now, and I couldn't seem to figure out how to best address it to get my vitality back even though I considered myself a pretty healthy eater for the most part. I was amazed by her functional evaluation process, too. I'd never experienced anything like it before, but it was very informative both at the beginning and end of my time with her. And on top of being incredibly helpful with her knowledge, she's very kind and thoughtful - sent me all kinds of useful articles and videos that were specific to my issues, and checked in on me between our live virtual and in-person sessions. I spent 2010-2018 as my Mom’s primary guardian. It was a busy and stressful several years and I really neglected and ignored my health. 2019 has been my year of recovery and regrowth. I started working with Meryl about 3 months ago. We have been focusing on reducing inflammation (I have fibro and osteoarthritis) thru diet and structured exercise. We started out just rehabbing my inflamed body, but I’ve moved on to actually doing squats, deadlifting and so many other exercises that just a few months ago, I could not do! I’ve lost inches and gained muscle, but, most importantly, I am almost completely weaned off my fibro meds, I don’t need painkillers on a regular basis, my digestive system is a million times happier and I’ve become a much more conscious eater. Meryl says, “Not cheating, conscious eating.”. After almost 3 months of conscious eating, I’ve lost a lot of my cravings and truly enjoy my new healthier approach to food. I don’t feel deprived and I still indulge in alcohol on occasion. And you should see my new muscles. I’m pretty proud of my progress.
