I was charged $300 for services I did not use while I was at another gym. When I tried to explain this in detail I was very gracious and was even open to a compromise. But they didnt apologize or admit to any wrong doing implying it was my fault. However data shows that planet fitness is engaging in an online racket using their low fees to fly under the radar on ur baml statements and when u try to cancel they make it difficult. The second their auto pay system gets a decline instead of calling you they allow months or even up to a year of charge backs to compile and apply $15 late fees to each one. Well Fargo actually settled a multi million dollar class action law suit in the mid 2010s related to this kind of practice. What they do is move to collections to force you to pay up and then throw a "deal" at you like what im about to describe below. Usually involving extending your contact and paying a percentage of ur balance, this alone suggests desperation and its a pathetic gamble that will hurt franchisees and investors in the long run.

The manager gave me a deal. Lock in for a year and pay $75 and she'll wipe the rest of my fees. Im giving her the benefit of the doubt and assuming this is the best she can do but when I was waiting in line I saw her offer the same deal to like two other people.
This is shady. And I dont blame the manager I know how this goes down, this is corporate training. And theyre doing this to lock people in so they dont defect to Crunch fitness which is half as expensive as their monthly fee. The manager was nice enough. Didn't wow me or anything but she was decent. But it was very clear this is how theyre teaching their in store employees to handle this racket that theyre pulling. Paying 300 bucks for services I didnt use is wild. Lowering it to 75 is not generous. Its all very- "cog in the machine". My advice? Dont take the deal. I only took it because the gym i was going to is too expensive and I had a chance to get out of that contract much easier. But heres what you should do:

File a report with the BBB. Name the store but dont drag management or employees into it. Not their fault.

Go to small claims court. Costs $50 to file in ABQ and you dont need a lawyer. Judges are very educated on this particular racket (its not exactly cutting edge stuff here) and they side with clients over gyms 80% of the time.

Send a cease and desist letter via certified mail demanding that they cancel ur account and take your credit card off file.
Ask them to send you all signed paper work printed and relevant fine print highlighted. Ask them if they have surveillance tape showing that you were presented with actual paper work before signing up.if they refuse any if this you can easily attain all relevant information during the legal process known as "discovery" anyway.

Planet fitness hides behind their franchisee model and ambitious low wage managers and employees to pull this racket and its sad.

Is it a decent enough place to work out? Yeah bur so is the West Mesa Community Center (free) or Crunch fitness (10/month)

I kept my account and took the deal because of my personal circumstances but I highly encourage others to be discerning and take my above advice if they feel they are being taken advantage of.

Remember people we vote with our wallets. Everyone's situation is different. Don't allow these companies to treat you like a faceless number. Youre a human being.

Since our last visit here in 2024 the facility continues to go downhill. I’m not sure what is so hard about keeping a gym clean but they surely haven’t figured it out.

* Showers are really moldy and dirty.
* Shower head was broken.
* Lockers are broken.
* Inside of lockers are a mess, they are full of dust and some trash. They haven’t been wiped down for a very LONG time.
* Men’s bathroom floor needs attention, scattered trash and food on the floor today.

Time for us to start looking at Anytime Fitness as an alternative.

Well things have changed since last year. It looks like they haven’t done a thorough cleaning in a long time. There is trash on the floor in the men’s BR, Only one toilet is working and none of the hydro massage beds are working! What’s going on???

We’ve been in Albuquerque for 6 weeks and I think we’ve visited every facility north of Rt 40 - this is by far the nicest one we’ve found. The staff is pleasant, the equipment is all working but most of all the place is really clean. We’ve seen some rough ones (moldy shower curtains and showers, dirty floors). Keep up the good work guys!

This location is clean and conveniently located but it is definitely on the smaller side. The ceiling fans are tiny and ineffective and they are coated in years of dust likely because they are too high to reach for proper cleaning. Equipment is limited with only four stair climbers and just one offers multiple settings. Avoid coming around 5 p.m. as the space gets crowded and it is nearly impossible to get a full workout with everything in use. Staff service is adequate not unfriendly but not especially welcoming either.

Third planet fitness in ABQ I’ve been to. Same problem as some of the others. Lovely staff, nice facility, but the bathrooms and showers need some tlc. The handicap shower, which I usually use because of my size, doesn’t even have a shower head?? Am I just an old person? Don’t people still shower after an hour cardio session? Do people just go about their day all sweaty and gross? I wish more gyms cared about their showers.

It's okay I've been going to Planet Fitness for a long time now, I only go to this one cuz it's closer to my house this is not my original one, this one usually stinks especially in the locker room, like just a ton of sewage backup smell going on? Here's an update they fixed the smell over here but today I was told that I couldn't use my guest card no more or as long as the person that's sharing it with me is here, I've been to this place long enough to know they have never told me anything like this and for the same person who's been working at the Coors location for a long time has no me and see me He's the one who told me that I can't do that no more and he's the one that's always let me in and never had a problem, I don't recommend this place to nobody go give your business to crunch or chuze fitness or any other gym, this This place is horrible and they don't know how to treat anybody no more.

I waited approximately 20 minutes at the front desk for assistance in accessing the message chair. When no one arrived, I attempted to activate the equipment myself, but I was unable to do so without a password. Eventually, a staff member entered from outside and mentioned he was on a break. He then informed me that my message chair had been ready the entire time, which was confusing, as he was unaware of my initial intent and I had already tried all available options.

Later, when I checked again, I found that my message chair was not ready. The staff member was unfamiliar with my location and the specific equipment I was referring to. Additionally, I observed that about 45 minutes earlier, the same employee was getting out of his car.

We hit PFs on our cross-country trips and love the convenience of the black card. This is a nice location, convenient to my hotel location and places to dine. Equipment is plentiful, I thought, no waiting lines. Lightning is a little dim, but think it offers an old school dungeon gym feel. Staff has welcoming every vist. Tanning was nice too no lines.

I’m a truck driver so parking is first concern and this location has signs for unauthorized parking, if we’re there for the gym that seems authorized and we’re not leaving the truck for days, I wasn’t bothered. I signed up because i wanted to take fitness classes, i signed up for a class on the app, i got an email confirming i was enrolled in the class, i showed up for the class, i was told that they don’t offer classes. Why did it show me classes, let me sign up for a class, then send me an email confirming i was signed up for the class, when there aren’t actually any classes? :(

I’ve been to a number of planet fitnesses. This one reached a mid tier.

Overall, the lighting isn’t that great anywhere in the gym. Very dark in some sections. Definitely could be better. This is specially true for the locker rooms.

The locker rooms are also incredibly spacious, a strange a amount of room that feels wasted in its initial design. 2 inclosed stalls with potentially more.

Showers are on the modern side.

The gym itself has good equipment. I Was able to get a good workout in.

The biggest pro for me is the gym, for my time was trucker friendly. Some space in the back for me to park and rest, and get a good workout in the morning.

Overall, decent experience. Would come back.

The regional manager of this establishment is rude and inconsiderate toward her guests. I came in for a membership not to be profiled on my appearance. Was told to leave after she had been frustrated with not understanding her and the policy. She is inpatient and it's not at all what I would've expected from the franchise. In addition she belittles employees and has a discusting attitude towards everyone. In addition she likes to believe that she is the head of everything in the store. Would not recommend this location to anyone else.

Gary the GM initiated a cancelation of my membership and I still got charged . After asking him why this happened he proceeded to blame me for it and was very rude. I finally got him to cancel it the right way this time and unfortunately he couldn't refund me my unnecessary charge. I don't know who designed this gym, there's no changing room so you get out of the shower and have to put your clothes on in front of everyone.

Also there's not a lot of benches in the free weights section, so they had this great idea to put the leg press right in front of the mirror.

My wife and I are traveling all over the U.S. and we use the awesome Black Card Membership to visit PF locations all over this great country. If a location stands out, to the better or to the worse, I usually place a review here. We visited this PF today, and, unfortunately, this has been one of the worst locations that we have been to yet.

The Good:
- The staff was friendly
- The showers had good water pressure
-Location had a Bosu ball (not all do)

The Bad:
- Cleanliness: floors in the gym were dirty. I had to kill a cockroach that was about to crawl over my mat. The showers and shower curtains were all stained. Urinal stank and appeared to not have been cleaned in a while. At most PF locations, I saw someone clean something during my usually 3 to 4 hour visits. Not in this location.

- Equipment and Accessories: All, but one PF location I have been to had a PF 360 Workout location, some the larger, some the smaller version. I make use of this extensively. This location was only the second location that did not even have the small version. The location also did not have the stretch equipment or a pull-up bar. I had to use the equipment that provides assisted pull-ups. I am typically also using resistance bands. It did not see any of those and did not bother to ask as I would not have a place to attach them to anyway. Very limited floor space (maybe three spaces) to put a mat on the floor as well.

I understand that some locations are under space constraints, but it was still disappointing that almost all the equipment that I typically use was not available. The dirty environment and the cockroach did their part to result in this one-star review for this PF location.

I have been a member for 10 years at this location, however when it was time to renew, my "paid in full" classic membership increased by more than 100%($130 to $270). Apparently paid in full is more expensive than if I buy month to month plan. I wonder why? When I brought this up with management, I was told that nothing can be done and their prices increased. At the higher price level, I would consider a different "home" gym that has refrigerated air instead of swamp coolers, or even CHUZE that is $90 less for a full year than here. Time to move on.

I’ve been coming to this PF for years now, about four. To be honest, I never feel too safe at this location because there are sketchy people outside at night, and often, the night employees are no where to be found. People just walk in without scanning on a nightly basis. Because of this I stopped going in. I had to put my safety first. There needs to be a scanner at the door/ a doorbell, something for nights.

The location is convenient for me and there is plenty of parking. I can't rate the shower and dressing areas because I don't use them. For my purposes the equipment is adequate. I only go there from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM about 4-5 times per week, and during those hours things seem to run smoothly. Although there are homeless people in the vicinity, they don't seem to pose any problems for gym members. The staff seem professional and helpful, as needed. The bathrooms could probably use a little more attention, but I acknowledge that members should also share in the responsibility of keeping the restrooms tidy. Unlike others that have posted a negative rating, I have used this facility for at least five years, and my overall rating is based on regular and long term use. My impression is that this location is well managed, adequately staffed and offers what most people need to get a good workout, including weight machines, circuit training, free weights and benches, elliptical and cardio equipment and a room for stretching.

This is the worst Planet Fitness I’ve been to in the country. I go to a lot of them because I travel for work and this one is completely unacceptable. The people at the front desk are polite but always sitting around doing nothing which is probably why the location is way dirtier than any other planet fitness I’ve been to. I’ve seen one particular employee whos always sitting with their legs on the desk when I walk in. Thats just disrespectful, go clean the filth you’re getting paid.

The worst part is the mens locker room has a terrible water logging issue and smells terrible. Half the showers are flooded with water and cannot be used. I don’t understand how this location still exists, it needs to be closed down or completely revamped and employees retrained. I keep making the mistake of stopping at this location but never again. The locations nearby are a good example of what a gym should look like.

The evening staff at this location are pretty rude and not very welcoming. Every time I check in I’m greeted with a blank stare while they frantically try to get the scanner to read my gym tag. Treat others how you want to be treated. They’ll always get a Hi and bye from me no matter how grumpy they are. Do better….

front desk is really rude. I got accused of stealing there over priced drinks when I go 3 times out of a week and always walked in with a drink don’t recommend this gym! over heard lady with glasses talking to someone on the phone trying to switch up the story, she came to me in the middle of my workout and confronted me and I told her to check her cameras. I pay to go work out not to be watched on my every move by her, I pay a black card membership why would I want any of your drinks,!!🤡

Extremely rude front desk staff. The young man who was working there today told me “you need to pack it up we’re closing”. I apologized and let him know I am a guest and I didn’t know what time they closed so I proceeded to gather my things. He then gave me a dirty look as he walked away. No “thank you” no “have a good night”. I have never felt so unwelcome at a gym and I will not be back. I have worked in customer service a long time and this is not it.

I've been in at least 50-60 PFs all over USA.
This one is below average regarding cleanliness. Locker rooms are different and the shape of the whole place inside is weird.
Black card spa is ok-ish, no numbers on the chairs, so if they tell you "massage chair number 1", you have no clue which one is that. It is ok for come and workout if you are passing by, but I would never pick this place as my regular gym.

It's okay, I work out here weekly. I also tan. I don't like how the staff talk too much. I just wanna be left alone. And who the heck decided the 17th was a good day to charge the monthly fee?

Place is a little run down in my opinion. Needs some upgrades. They got low lighting and fans sitting on the floor blowing. They also took my photo as a guest which is kind of strange since I’ve always gone thru any times with no questions.

Membership is $25 month for black card and have $10 options. But I think that chuze is much nicer.

I moved and needed to cancel my membership. I called and went in person 2 times and each staff person gave me different dates on when I should cancel so I wouldn’t get charged a renewal fee.
When I went in the girl said they would still charge me a renewal membership fee because I came in too late to cancel.
The first time I went in they said I would have to write a letter to cancel. They didn’t even ask for a letter. So frustrated with their communications.

I enjoy the environment of Planet Fitness and all their gyms. The community of people attending PF regularly are friendly and we all know that everyone there is on their own journey/path and there is no judgment sensed from anyone.

This location, in particular, is absolutely horrible. Complete lack of service, the brand has eliminated the human factor, so sad. I do not want to carry my phone into the gym. The inability to check in manually is ridiculous. Oh, and there is no way you get ach access to my bank. Perhaps if you had a customer experience and service built team, it would be worth it. But this location is so horrible. I won't even use it as a bad example. Shame on this location and the brand overall.
