I was in and out of tango for over 20 years, not understanding why this was the case until a friend invited me to visit Graham’s studio, Puerta al Tango. Like countless times before, I decided to give it another “go” because for many of us, this dance haunts us and keeps us searching for something we can’t define. After coming to Graham’s studio for instruction, I found all of the missing pieces to this exquisite puzzle of tango. Graham is a master of his craft. He manifests the heart and soul of classic tango. He teaches foundational body awareness and movement for tango that is uniquely inspired by his personal experiences learning this amazing art form of dance. Whether you have been on this journey for some time or it is a new spark of interest, Graham will welcome you warmly and support your personal journey whatever that might be.

You can tell as soon as you walk in the doors that this is a special place. The care that went into the space- from having tea and hygiene supplies, to being so welcoming and mindful about consent and comfortability while dancing- was singular. Graham is an absolutely incredible teacher and human. His humility, experience, and thoughtfulness made me feel so comfortable and supported. I genuinely can’t imagine a better first tango experience in the U.S. I’ll come back every time I’m in NM for sure!

Puerta al Tango has become my go-to place for Argentine social Tango. I love everything about it: the space is gorgeous with the beautiful doors, most days of the week there are either classes, practilongas, milongas and other special events where this lovely little tango community meets. A great place to make new friends. Graham really gets down to the basics and guides his students gently to explore the infinite possibilities of tango. There are free classes for anyone to get a taste. Try it!

Just attended Graham's workshop this past weekend. Graham went the extra mile, provided notebooks, his own homemade cookies, and exceptional instruction to meet you where you are at...on your tango journey! Thus, he pays individual attention to each student's needs, not the basic cookie cutter approach, where it is "Follow the Teacher." Puerta al Tango is a beautiful space...with fun, nonjudgemental folks and positive vibes. Graham's mission is to provide the basic infrastructure (right posture, basic walking skills) before you tackle complicated figures. Highly recommend!

I have been attending classes regular since November 2023 and this is a record for me in terms of tango. For the last 15 or so years I have been searching for a 'tango home'. Never did I find a place that drew me in the way Graham and the Las Puertas community has.
I remember my first time there. I walked through the doors and was in awe of the space - gigantic, beautiful doors surrounding the dance floor, twinkling lights overhead, the music, and the way the chairs and tables were arranged around the floor reminiscent of a tango salon in Buenos Aires. I went alone, I was nervous, feeling vulnerable, and Graham's big smile and welcoming demeanor made me instantly relax and settle in.
I recommend this space to ANYONE even mildly interested in tango. If you're looking to learn, looking to feel connected to yourself and others, or even just searching for community, Las Puertas is a great choice!

I started with Graham in January of this year. It’s been a wonderful and challenging journey (in a good way). His meticulous teaching style of the basics while including, the culture, musicality, and holding form without sacrificing possible injurious moves is simply;
Boss!!
As total beginners, to very experienced dancers, we are constantly honing our craft.
We just concluded a weekend workshop that Absolutely connected the lines of our learning curves and better movement on the floor. It’s such a warm an inviting environment, we share meals and laughter together as well as put in diligent work in classes on the floor.
I feel Blessed to be a part of this. I’ve made wonderful friendships not only in our studio, but through out the surrounding Tango community as well.

I came to this space a little over a year ago after living and working in Argentina. The instructor, Graham, is a wonderful teacher. If you are interested in learning Argentine social tango, this is who you go to in Albuquerque. The space is beautiful, the vibe is immaculate, and the community is inviting.

What a cool looking place, instantly transported to the Casbah! Warm, expert instruction, fitness, community, and culture. This is a great addition to Albuquerque's downtown scene. Also, ample parking

Thanks so very much to Graham, who made me feel comfortable right from the first moment of my first tango class‼️ It is easy to see, that Graham is a very experienced dancer, but it is his welcoming, relaxed style for sharing his passion for tango, that keeps me and many others coming back‼️‼️
I do not have any previous dance experience and Graham makes it feel safe to explore this whole new world of community, movement, expression and co-creation🔆🔆
It was a stretch to go to Brigitta’s workshop last week, after only 3 beginner classes, but Brigitta and Graham and the advanced students who were there, were all so gracious, patient and encouraging‼️‼️
Graham promotes and creates a wonderful sense of community in his classes. And he and Brigitta co-created a beautiful space to explore playful ways of connecting with the floor, ourselves, each other and taking that into our Tango practice.
I feel like a little embryo, soon after conception, just waking up to explore who I am in this new way, and,I only hope that I can be as patient and as gracious with myself, as Graham and Brigitta and the more experienced dancers have been with me.
With deep gratitude to all of you at Las Puertas🔆🔆 Debi💙

Tango is so wonderful and like yoga to me. It is my yoga actually. Graham is a fun, patient and creative teacher. The classes I attend have created this amazing community and I look forward to it every Tuesday night. There are actually multiple classes 3 or 4 times per week. Thank you Graham for creating such a fun and stressless environment.

By a twist of fate, I stumbled into a tango class, mistaking it for swing, and the world of tango captured my heart from that first mistaken step. However, my initial encounter was bittersweet; my first previous instructor, though skilled, lacked warmth and presence, leaving me yearning for a guide who could match my newfound passion with equal parts expertise and encouragement.
Enter Graham, a serendipitous arrival in town, who became not just an instructor but a beacon of tango for me. Learning under Graham has been an extraordinary journey. His patience is boundless, his knowledge vast, and his teaching method? A perfect blend of depth and detail that breathes life into every step and movement. Graham doesn't just teach tango; he immerses you in its soul, focusing on the foundational movements that are essential for a dancer to truly excel.
Thanks to Graham, tango is no longer just a dance for me; it's a profound exploration of connection and expression... a bit of a therapist in motion. His emphasis on the nuances and the core principles of tango has empowered me to become not just a dancer but understanding how to be a storyteller through movement. I've not only fallen in love with tango; I've discovered a deep, enriching well of learning and growth within its embrace, all thanks to Graham's guidance and wisdom. Tango for me has been a teacher of both art and life, offering lessons of how we truly connect with ourselves and others... lessons for me that extend well beyond the floor of dance.
For anyone looking to embark on their own tango journey, or to deepen their existing practice, I cannot recommend Graham highly enough. His teaching will transform your dance, infuse it with meaning, and perhaps, like me, you'll find in tango a beautiful teacher for life and a source of endless learning of growth <3

For someone who has never danced this before, I immediately felt comfortable and welcome. It’s not just beautiful music, but it’s a beautiful community that is engaging and forgiving. Graham is by far one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met and made me feel very welcome in his classes and is l his personal touch made me want to come back

If you're looking to learn tango in Albuquerque in an environment that is laid back with an instructor who genuinely cares about his students and knows what he's talking about, Puerta al Tango is it! I always thought of tango as being a bit pretentious or only for certain types of people, but Graham's classes aren't like that at all. He makes tango simple to understand and fun to dance. If you're curious about tango, give this place a chance. It's such a safe, comfortable learning environment.
