My 10 yr old has been coming here for a year now. We love all of the Senseis. They are a special group of people dedicated to the children and work in education themselves.I am so grateful for them. My son has surprised me with how much he has learned and grown as a person in the time he has been learning karate. He has become more disciplined with his school work and responsibilities at home and so much more. I’m so proud of him! I’m excited to see him learn and grow even more. I would definitely recommend Shorei Ryu.

I took my 5 year old son here today to begin his journey into martial arts. Not knowing what to expect, I was welcomed with the utmost professionalism and a real sense of caring for their students. I was blown away with their ability to work with children and how well my son responded to them. Due to this ability and the compassion they show to their students (I witnessed this during my tour), my son now begins tomorrow! If you are thinking about entering your kids into martial arts or even thinking about entering yourself, I highly recommend you give this place a chance and let them wow you as they did me.

I was a student here in shorei ryu karate studios and overall my experience was great and awesome and the kids were always nice and respectful and my sensi was a great teacher and help out with a lot of things and taught me how to have patience and positivity even though I dont go here no more I still keep all my awards and and keep on practicing the things they taught me. Such an absolutely wonderful facility! We are thrilled to have our son a part of this karate family! We’ve been looking for something extra curricular for our 4-year-old son. We were thrilled to find Shorei Ryu which is only 15 minutes from our home. We’ve always talked about getting our kids into karate but we were disappointed to learn that many dojos do not take children until they are 6/7 years old. Shorei Ryu not only accepts younger children, but they actually take the time to teach the karate fundamentals to the littler ones. My son is already memorizing terms, learning how to respect the dojo and sensei, as well as learning proper punching, standing, and kicking techniques. He is also being taught discipline and how to carry himself while in the dojo - and he is having an absolute BLAST doing so!! His confidence has already shot up after 2 classes, he is always eagerly awaiting his next karate class, and he is taking pride in earning stripes and belts.

I feel I should also add that while my son is learning the karate essentials, he is also having FUN while doing so. Sensei is phenomenal with children and he has the perfect balance of discipline, fun, and teaching down to an art. The dojo isn’t part of a chain which already says a lot. Everyone knows each other and there is a very friendly and cozy vibe to the place. I could go on, but let me just conclude with this - if you are looking to learn karate, look no further because Shorei Ryu will meet your or your child’s needs. Be prepared for learning, discipline, and fun! Being a part of Sheri Ryu is like being part of a wonderful karate family! It doesn’t get much better than this!

The classes are amazing to start off and the people there are kind and humble when people misbehave it is dealt with sometimes push-ups and other times they get talked to about why they did what they did. The classes have helped me gain stamina strength and teaches me mental things as well it helps with many things and you should try it if you get the chance to get a class. Oh and they give you a free class to make sure you like it or not.

A friend of mine invited my 12 year old niece who is visiting from out of town to go to a karate lesson. She enthusiastically said she would love to go. They welcomed her into the class like an old friend! We also stayed over to watch one of the older groups in their lesson. The dojo was clean and tidy, and the kids were very respectful and they had a lot of fun. We got invited to return for the next class, which is exactly what we will do!! I also talked to the sensei/aka teacher, and he said since my niece is visiting, he would try to find a place for her to continue her karate classes from her home town of Tucumcari! I was veey pressed with the kindness and professionalism of the staff here!

I had been looking for some type of martial arts for my sons for awhile. Either they were too expensive or didn't have have enough options or just didn't give me a good feeling. I saw a new sign for a karate dojo near the boys and girls club and emailed them. They told me they had a family rate if I wanted to come as well, so my boys, daughter, and I joined. Not only have a found a wonderful dojo, but also a new family. The owner is a former Marine and he and his wife are amazing. He is a wonderful teacher, firm but fun. We could not be happier. My kids have done some martial arts before but I truly believe they are learning so much more and are so much more prepared here at Shorei Rye. If I could give it 6 stars I would!!!

I'm so happy I found this school! The sensei is 9 tlme world champion! I have been taking martial arts off and on for many years, I love to compete in tournaments. He is a perfectionist and wants his students to succeed. The sensei's first student also a world champion. The sensei will teach your children to focus to be respectful and elevate their standards,also to be a champion if that is your goal I almost forgot to mention that I am a disabled Veteran Sensei easily accommodates my disabilitys.
