Absolutely love this studio and not just because it's a 5 minute walk away. Great instructors and each one brings a different vibe for their class. Regardless a great stretch and an amazing workout!

I’ve been coming here for almost two years and I rave about this studio to all my friends. Everything about this studio is great - the instructors, the look and cleanliness of the studio, easy to book classes online! It’s also great for beginners, not intimidating at all.

Avea is my absolute favorite! The studio is bright and airy, with a view of Tompkins sq park. I always feel stronger and more uplifted after taking a class. My favorite instructor is Jaqueline, she has challenging but rewarding flows with great breathwork ques.

Very disappointed with price increases. I've taken classes here for a year or so. I found some of them to be more challenging than others (shout out to Angelina whose classes are challenging and my favorite).
This place was definitely one of the more expensive Pilates classes via class pass in the area. But prices have increased even more lately which makes it, by far, the most expensive pilates class
in my area. No longer worth it, given there are equivalent Pilates classes for less than half the price. Will start to look elsewhere. :(

Avea Pilates is my favorite pilates studio ever. The space is stunning—so calming, beautifully lit, and filled with natural light from the huge windows. It creates the perfect peaceful environment to focus and reset. The instructors are all incredibly well-spoken and encouraging, but special shoutout to Alaina—my absolute favorite! She gets so creative with the moves, making every class fun and engaging. You work muscles you didn’t even know you had. Her presence is so peaceful, and the way she guides the class is just perfect. She truly makes my long and tiring Mondays so much better. Couldn’t recommend this studio more!

Beautiful and clean studio! Instructor Brianna is always willing to assist with the movements and I think this is a great place for beginners. The studio is also very light and airy which I find to be extremely inviting.
I HIGHLY recommend going to Brianna's class if you can. She's the BEST!

The place was nice, but the instructor, Brianna, was very rude and unhelpful. She never corrected my movements or made the experience welcoming. I won’t be returning—find a nicer instructor.

This studio made me fall in love with Pilates! I have been going regularly for over a year, and the customer service is fabulous, the instructors are amazing, and the studio is beautiful. I've tried a few different spots around the city, and nothing compares to the quality of Avea. Reformer Pilates can be intimidating if you are new to it, and this is the place I bring all of my friends who are trying it for the first time because of how supportive the environment is.

Avea Pilates is amazing!
I've been a big fan of movement/flow based exercises all my life.
This was my first experience with reformer. Thanks to the amazing space and staff; all of my trepidation vanished after my first class at Avea. I signed up for a monthly pass after my first lesson and never regretted it.
I am now a proud Pilates princess!
All of the spaces are great, light, airy vibes and clean. The entire staff is amazing. Everyone's classes are unique, accessible/adaptable for beginners, and challenging at all stages.
I spent a lot of time here rehabbing from a workplace sustained injury in my lower back. I have immense gratitude for everyone that instructed and shared the space with me during this challenging time.
Thank you to the owner/management Carrie and David.
Shoutout to all the amazing instructors who hosted me, in alphabetical order; there is no way I could play favorites :)
*** Alaina, Angelina, Arianna, Ash, Carlton, Cassie, Emma G., Gabrielle, Gillian, Juri, Laura, Lorie, Nadia, and Pamela! ***
All these ladies are amazing, strong, and knowledgable. Thank you all so much!
And this is only half the staff. I trust the rest of the staff, current roster and new hires, are amazing as well.
P.S. The author in me hates redundancy.
But...
Avea is AMAZING!

Great and accessible reformer Pilates studio in East Village! Each group class accommodates up to 8 students on the reformer machine (without the tower).
It can be a little confusing to find the studio, but the entrance is on East 7th Street. You have to ring for Avea and they’ll buzz you in. Walk up to the second floor!
They used to have large windows and a beautiful view but they’re going through some construction, so no views as of Oct 2023.
I’ve taken 20+ classes and my favorite instructor is Victoria, because she explains each movement and pushes us. I am so sore the next day.
Most of the students in the group classes are beginner or intermediate level. I’d say the typical crowd is a 20 or 30 something year old woman who wears a Target sports bra and has gone to 2-20 Pilates classes.

Took a class with Cassie a few days ago. She has a good tempo and pace but the exercises were fairly advanced and very difficult (impossible?) for a beginner/intermediate like me. Technically, this was a mixed-level class and all levels should be made to feel included. Yet, what puzzled me is that she didn't offer any suggestions for modifications: she just looked at me struggle and try to modify the exercises by myself, doing my best to get through the class. If you are a beginner, I would recommend another instructor.

got there 6 minutes late and they didn’t even open the door and kept hanging up when i rang them
when i finally got in they said because i was later than 5 minutes i cannot come in. i know there are policies but this is ridiculous. She was so rude about it too.

I’ve been a client at Avea for almost a year. I am impressed with every aspect of Avea. All three studios are beautiful, and each instructor takes the time to get to know the individual student. As a result, the instructors help nurture your growth and remember what you’re working on and/or any injuries you have from class to class. One of my favorite instructors is Cassie, who pushes each student to reach their full potential, without asking anyone to do anything that makes them feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Erica L is incredibly gentle yet tough, and provides a real mental escape during the class. Alaina is another tough instructor but one who brings a lot of mindfulness and a beautiful energy to her classes. Overall, every instructor has a unique and special teaching style. The other class attendees bring a positive, warm energy and friendly attitude. Carrie (the owner) has cultivated a beautiful, welcoming space. It is a very non-judgmental environment. As a woman in her early 50s, I have felt so supported and encouraged and the instructors at Avea have helped me already lose 25 lbs. in preparation for my wedding!

Beautiful, clean, studio. Excellent and knowledgable instructors who offered personalized feedback and modifications for each of us, making it feel like a private lesson in a group class experience. I have been looking for a good pilates studio and I have now found it. One of the instructors, Carrie, went out of her way on her day off to find me and return my apple watch that I had left at the studio! Really amazing customer service combined with a great workout experience! I am looking forward to seeing the new space on 34th St as well

This is my confession - I hate to exercise, but know I need to. Thus, I am extremely thankful for and cannot write enough nice things about Avea Pilates. All their pilates class and teachers are fun - which keeps me going back. Also the teachers are excellent and the studio is super clean with great machines. If you are thinking about starting Pilates or are looking to continue your Pilates practice this is the studio to go to.

I started my pilates journey with the hope to rehabilitate my back, neck and knees after a car accident that left me in constant discomfort and pain after minimal activity. When I discovered that Avea offered private classes and even has instructors who were physiotherapists I gave it a shot. That was about 6 weeks ago and I feel amazing. There is a significant difference in my strength, mobility and pain levels. The studio space is gorgeous, clean, modern machines, a great vibe with proffecional, warm people who share my mission.
Please note this is not a rehabilitation studio but as per the “rumors” it’s true Pilates is healing inside and out.

Pretentious/snobby/rude instructor!!! Her name is Liron N I think
Yeah, she won't let you in if you are 5' late. She would just let you wait in front of the door without even telling you what to do (it's my first time)
After 15 minutes I would have to kindly ask her what to do, then she would ask me to call the studio due to the "late policy" that you can't find anywhere. You then would have to call the studio only to speak to the answer machine :)
She also just walked around the studio and did not offer any adjustment to her students during my 15' waiting. Gosh why would we pay for some girl to treat us like we are worth nothing?
Apparently someone else on Classpass said the same thing about the instructor, I should have read their comments before wasting my money here!
There are thousands of studios in NYC, I only booked your studio because I wanted to go with my friend who lives nearby. Will be interesting to see how long it will take you to go out of business with this kind of customer service.

I am obsessed with this Pilates studio. To the point where I almost don’t want to leave a review or tell anyone about it bc I feel like it’s the best kept secret of Pilates classes in NYC. All the instructors are great, but my absolute favorite is Sabrina! She is amazing and is super open to incorporating specific things into class if you ask (i.e extra abs, leg focused, etc).

Ave A Pilates has become my go to Studio over the last year. They are constantly expanding and offer great instructors who give you a great workout. It’s a small boutique studio but it’s the perfect vibe for getting personal instruction. They offer express classes which are great if you are sneaking in a workout during the workday. Carrie, the owner, runs an awesome studio. They constantly offer discounts on packages which make it affordable to be a returning client. Be sure to give it a try!!

I recently moved to the East Village and have been trying all pilates studios within up to 20 minutes walking distance to find the best studio. If you want to skip all this work, you can go straight to Ave A Pilates, because they are the best! They have the newest equipment, the studio is very clean and bright, I love the big windows and most importantly the instructors are amazing. The instructors know what they are doing. They are very attentive to form, the instructions are super clear, they are very friendly - and I can feel that I am getting stronger after every class. If you want to spend two months going to a different studio every time, do that, but I can tell you that you will end up in Ave A!
