BKFit isn’t just another place to train — it becomes your home. The vibe is incredible; it’s a place where they welcome you like family and help you push past your limits. Thank you, Coach Nazar and Coach Will

Your fitness and mood will instantly improve if you take a class with Coach Will!

Great programming, great vibes from the members, excellent coaching and motivation from coach Will. I've learned a lot and I've never felt healthier or stronger.

As a member of this CrossFit gym, I've experienced excellent coaching and challenging workouts that have truly improved my overall fitness. However, there's an issue that needs to be addressed - the uneven floors.
While the gym's equipment and facilities are generally well-maintained, the uneven floors can be a safety concern during high-intensity workouts. It's crucial for the gym management to invest in leveling the floors to prevent potential accidents and ensure a secure environment for their members.
Despite this concern, the gym remains a welcoming community with dedicated coaches and diverse classes. Addressing the flooring issue would elevate my experience and make it an ideal fitness destination.

Not sure why people are mad -- most bad reviews are from people who didn't read the fine print. They made it pretty clear that you had to give a 30 day notice to cancel. That's literally all gyms! And some (ahem Equinox) are way worse.

I love the community here, and I started coming here very recently. The coaches have been supportive and emphasize form when performing the workouts, which I LOVE to see. I've been to so many environments where they do not do that, and it's alarming! I always get a good lift and burn after each CrossFit class, which is nice because before this gym, I was at a typical gym and I felt quite stagnant. The people and coaches here are kind, and everything is pretty straightforward. Wodify, the app they use to schedule workouts and gym time, was slightly confusing at first, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. The equipment is pretty standard for a Crossfit box, so if you're looking for a place with a lot of machines, this is not the spot for you. A lot more iron pumping than your typical cushy gym at this price range.

I highly recommend this gym if you're looking for a place to build your fitness among people who are looking out for you! Love it already and can't wait to keep going!

It had been years since I'd done Crossfit and I was reluctant to go back. A friend recommended this place and said they're very accommodating and offer a free trial class. Isabelle and Nazar made it so easy for me to get back in the groove. I've since joined and have been going twice a week. As for the gym as a whole, the other members are cool and it definitely feels like everyone tries to support one another.

Love Coach Will! I’m lifting heavier than ever before. Feeling good! And there’s community events every few months. Ugly sweater party was the last one. I was nervous with some of the other reviews, though my experience has been great and even got my friend to sign up.

Do not consider joining. All the bad reviews are completely honest.
Just a truly bad gym.
While i was there i heard alot that they are likely going out of business due to lack of people joining so they cant pay their bills anymore.
They're coaches are awesome though. But they cant change anything that is out of their control.

Disgustingly predatory business practice. Step foot in this gym at your own peril. And never give them penny or they won’t stop coming after you for more.

In response to their comment:

I hoped this gym would help me build confidence and muscle, but this gym has only made me feel like a fool and a sucker.

I did the intro class in December. I never step foot in the gym again. They make you use this abysmal Wodify app that’s terrible for scheduling classes and even more difficult to actually login to. I was never able to take classes and haven’t been to this gym since the intro in December. I’ve already payed them way more money than I ever want to and they are still harassing me for more.

I’m clearly not the only one who has had a bad experience with their billing, as many of the other reviews have pointed out the same issues.

Great neighborhood gym, coaches and fellow members are always welcoming and supportive, making for a motivating workout community. As a mom of 2 young kids who hasn’t worked out consistently in over 6 years, I was looking for a “plug and play” workout routine that didn’t require any planning on my part. I love that I can just show up and have a full-body workout planned alongside a community that motivates me to work harder than I would otherwise on my own.

Signed up for 24/7 access under the impression that I could walk in and use gym whenever. What's not communicated is that there's a limit of 2 PEOPLE for open workout during times when any class is in session. Those times happen to be 6-9 pm lol, directly after normal hours. Also another annoyance, minor but still frustrating, you cannot just walk up scan a fob and get in, you have to pre-register on an app to "sign up" for open access working out. When I brought this up they were condescending and tried - as all profit hungry businesses do - to make it my fault for reading some small print that doesn't exist.

If I could leave a review with 0 stars, I would.

I was injured shortly after joining BK Fit, and eventually decided to cancel my membership because I couldn't utilize it. However, due to some technical error on BK Fit's end, my cancellation request was never received and so they have been attempting to charge my for an additional month of membership.

I tried my best to discuss this with them, but they refused to acknowledge that despite my (very logical, reasonable) decision to cancel my membership that it is in fact I who is at fault, instead of a possible error in the system... Which is strange, because in the very first email they sent me about it, they include a caveat at the bottom of the email "*Use Chrome to complete the form". I wonder why they might include such a caveat? Is it possible there may be technical difficulties their system experiences otherwise, where folks who don't use Chrome (like myself) experience issues? It is also strange that this isn't highlighted on the cancellation page itself, where someone might submit the form initially... They claim that this caveat is included because "it is simply the preferred method of browser" - but why state this at all then?

On top of my medical bills I am now being squeezed for an additional $200 that I already paid. Really despicable people! Do not join this gym!

Edit:

My statement of "a couple weeks ago" was an approximation i made over the phone, because I didn't immediately know how long ago I had cancelled. I did not change my story, in fact, I was hurried off the phone and into email where "All membership/billing questions conversations are reserved to email for record keeping purposes and clarity". I was never able to expound on my story.

If you are thinking about joining this gym I highly recommend you look elsewhere.

I've had a terrible experience with BK Fit. Their prices are steep, but I thought I'd treat myself to a decent gym—but they twist the knife, charging you for missing your own gym appointments and upon deciding to quit the gym, they charge you an additional month's fee.

Beware, lots of hidden fees and charges. I regret giving BK Fit a try. I originally joined because it’s the only gym near my house. I did not read their lengthy contract closely. (Who does?)

For example, they require you to pay a full month’s membership fee *after* cancellation. Plan to put your membership on a credit card? That’ll be an $7 additional charge. Fail to check in yourself on their app when you join in person? That’ll be a $15 charge.

This gym is a sad excuse for inclusion in the Bed-Stuy community. Sadly, this gym demonstrates a non-inclusive mantra to make people feel not welcomed or provide teaching on core gym exercises. It’s really sad that BKFIT is an opportunistic organization that has been allowed in the community. Let’s start with the review:

1. Due to the changes and loss of culture in the Bed Stuy neighborhood, the gym is catered to people who have maybe slightly higher incomes or geared to a demographic that is not inclusive. As a minority of Black and Latin decent, the classes were not diverse, the discussion content was not even engaging to promote universal discussion and it is evident that the BKFIT is catering to a particular demographic.

2. There is no diversity in the training or gym regimen. Will who is the trainers, really shouldn’t be teaching. He is either focused on training people to become body builders or again catering to the demographic of people who are familiar with the gym.

3. The gym promotes “Open to everyone” which is not the case. It is geared towards 25-40 year old transplants who have had access to gyms and other forms of fitness education.

4. The pricing is steep; and the amenities are not worth what is being charged. The equipment is lackluster as well.

5. If you don’t have a basic understanding of the exercises, the instructors get frustrated with you and make you feel less than. The gym is supposed to be an encouraging experience. Not one to walk away feeling like a failure.

6. It is evident BK FIT, particularly in gentrified areas need a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion consultant to educate their staff to make all members feel welcomed.

Overall, the gym was not motivating and more so demoralizing. I am thankful I am a strong person. After doing math, I joined LifeTime fitness and get quadruple the amenities and experience is overall top tier. Also, with their multiple locations and coaches my fitness journey has been amazing. A year strong.

Also, if you go to the gym on class pass, Bonnie will send you a snarky email about attending too many classes and it is mandatory to join. Again, without talking to the clients, it’s an assumption already made. Good luck to anyone who reads this. I would seriously consider a class pass 1 visit before commitment.

Lastly, the tone of the individual writing this response demonstrated a condescending tone. The fact I am being accused using is a "False" name is my response to my actual email that I used. Again, the owners and trainers demonstrate a hostile environment and for me, it was just not a great place to be. Please feel free to join yourself and experience on your own. This was my experience.

A great neighborhood gym that supports you in meeting your fitness goals with a great community of members and coaches. Super welcoming to all ability levels. The small group classes allow coaches to give you personalized attention and champion your progress. Since it’s a neighborhood gym, you’ll see the same folks at each class, adding to the sense of community that the gym naturally fosters. The noon classes with Coach Will may be the most fun and energizing time you’ll have working out.

Signed up thru classpass - the coach made me feel terrible right off the bat when I told him I was new / had injuries - he told me they were in the 7th week of a 9 or 10 week class *which of course classpass said nothing about* , and that I'd basically have to keep up. He offered a few adjustments, but basically made me feel like an idiot and an annoyance. Also, he was screaming at the top of his lungs and telling people they should 'know this already' - volume and negging is not my style - and not what I'd consider 'welcoming', 'all inclusive' or 'for all levels'.

STAY AWAY. Don't even sign up for a free workout, don't go anywhere near this place. If you do, read carefully and memorize every inch of the fine print. Beware of predatory membership policy and practices, poor bedside manner, and bad vibes.

The vibe of this place is off. Fluorescent lights, things look disheveled especially around the check-in/""welcome"" area, and the website/sign-in portal is a complete and total mess. I got text messages from the gym every single day asking how the workout was going. It was friendly, though the frequency was a little over the top

Trainers are distracted, and it was clear that they are pushed to upsell new customers rather than providing a positive workout experience. Nobody showed me around the gym (i had to ask another patron where the bathroom is so I could change--it's on the 2nd floor shared with several other businesses), nor did anyone show me how to check-in. Despite attending all the classes I signed up for, I got charged a $15 no-show fee 3 times which I tried to dispute with my friend over text message, he directed me to send an email. Thanks for all the help!

Nobody seemed to know the right way to wipe down equipment after use. No thanks to the trainers - the rags for wiping down equipment and cleaning off white boards are all intermingled in two 5-gallon buckets. If you told me i used white-board cleaner to clean off the rowing machine, I wouldn't be surprised.

Before I knew any of this, I foolishly signed waivers, policies, agreements via PDF as well as online forms. So. Many. Pages. When the bad vibes of the place got to me, I initiated the process of cancelling via text since i had some rapport with my correspondent. Oh, but you can only cancel over email. Fine. So, I sent an email to cancel. Nope~was told I needed to fill out a *form* to cancel.

So I completed the form, 28 days before my membership was due to renew. Oh, but the cancellation policy is that you have to cancel *30 days* before renewal. So despite canceling on 4 weeks notice, I was charged in full for an additional month. I refused to pay, registered my dissatisfaction and was flatly refused. It's in the policy I signed. I still refused to pay and just got my collections notice. WOW!

Is your head spinning like mine was??? The whole process is byzantine, extremely lengthy and frankly predatory, extracting money from people just trying to stay in shape through technicalities and fine print.

The workout is fine. I injured my wrist doing handstands as part of a workout that was probably way too advanced for me, but that's on me I guess.

Horrible customer service. Please do not support this gym. I signed up for ten personal training classes and Zelle'd over $1K upfront. After taking three classes and needing a short break, I was told that I could not take the remaining seven without paying for an additional ten (another $1K) because my classes "expired". When I asked for a written version of this supposed policy where classes "expire", I was told that this was not written anywhere and that it was the trainer's own personal policy. Unreal. Avoid at all costs.

Just to give a little background on myself, before joining this gym I never lifted a barbell, was never able to do a pull-up and didn’t know what a kettlebell was. I signed up for the 30 day challenge and it improved my physical and mental health. After making it through the first week I was immediately hooked. I was amazed at what I was capable of and eager to learn more. The team at the Bedstuy location welcome you like family— Your success is their success. CrossFit Outbreak is a great box, and the Bed Stuy location is the best. Coach Rich and Coach Adele are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. This gym brings all kinds of people. There are a lot of queer people, POCs and people of all fitness levels. The workouts and the playlists are inspired.

One of the benefits of CrossFit Outbreak is they offer two main programs: CrossFit and OUTFIIT. CrossFit is usually a strength exercise and a metcon and OUTFIIT is two metcons (or one long one). They also offer active recovery classes.

After years of neglect, I'd committed to focusing on my health and fitness. I was doing a combination of yoga, HIIT, and kettlebell classes throughout the week for six months. I made good progress but didn't feel like the pace was where it should be. At the same time, I kept getting hit with Crossfit Outbreak's online ads looking for people to participate in their "8 Week Transformation Challenge." (Big ups to their team for some stellar digital marketing strategy.) I signed up, met my coach (Rich), and got hooked. Rich helped me get used to the initial learning curve that comes with reading the day's workout, getting acquainted with the facility and understanding the movements. Throughout the 8 weeks, I know that Rich not only observed me closely in class, but also checked in with the other coaches about my progress. This is really just one example of how Crossfit Outbreak approaches training holistically. Despite the membership cost (which is on par with other area boxes), I decided to join Crossfit Outbreak as a member. I've now been with Crossfit Outbreak for 3 months and haven't regretted a single workout. That's not **exactly** true; I sometimes stare at a barbell I'm about to throw overhead and often ask myself, "am I really doing this?" I do it. And I walk away incredibly proud that I did.

Last month, I texted Rich super excited after my first shopping trip in 8 months. I'm down two sizes in shirts and one size down in pants. I've got a long way to go but I've never looked better in my life. More than that, I've never felt more confident in my ability to tackle a physical challenge. Please don't join Crossfit Outbreak if you just want to look good or get cut. Crossfit Outbreak is for people looking to join a community working toward their health.

AMAZING! This just opened in the neighborhood and I am so glad I joined. If you are looking for a non-judgmental and inspiring environment when you workout, CF outbreak is the place. All the coaches are top notch and are extremely supportive, regardless of your fitness level. Any workout can be tailored to your level and the coaches sincerely want to help you achieve your goals. They are all super easy to talk to and truly sincere. One of the things that really stood out is that this is not just a CrossFit gym, they offer so much more - Muay Thai, Interval classes, Mobility classes, Movement classes (and more to come). I can't recommend this place enough! If you are looking to make a positive change in your life or looking to up your fitness, why not do it in a motivating, fun and uplifting community - it will be the best decision you ever made!
