Been a member of this gym for over 5 years. The various locations allow me flexibility depending on what I have going on. The gym caters to all levels of fitness, you can be a beginner or a veteran. The coaches are very knowledgeable and willing to help. I have spent a lot of time working with Coach Anthony on my powerlifting strength. In one year he has helped significantly increase my one rep maxes on all major lifts (bench has gone from 205 to 245, deadlift from 275 to 340, squat from 195 to 250). Coach Roman is also a great resource for all things CrossFit and fitness. All of the other coaches are great as well. Join this gym, commit to consistent training and you will improve.

I joined the gym for its proximity and without much expectation. And it has been terrific. I love that classes are usually small - max 8 people at the busy classes. And the open gym times have 1 or no one there. It feels like a private gym without the crazy price tag. They also use an app to book and share workouts in advance , so you know what to expect and who’s training.

The coaches are all great and the community is small, so everyone knows each other. Within 5 classes I got to see almost everyone who frequents the gym. And they are all very motivated , so I feel encouraged to work hard as well. It’s a large space so it doesn’t feel crowded at all

It’s a CrossFit gym , so they are well stocked and equipment is always taken care off.

Anthony is one of the best lifting coaches I've ever had. I come to BK Fit exclusively for his classes. The flexibility of 3 locations and 24/7 access is a huge bonus. If I miss a PL class, I can stop by another night and get the same great coaching where ever he is on site. Clinton Hill is a nice big space, very chill, and welcoming!

BK fit has been such a good experience for me. Coach Anthony’s powerlifting class has been amazing - I started his class as a total beginner and two years later I’m lifting more weight than I ever thought possible. Some of his lifters are competing on a national level; he’s an encyclopedia of lifting knowledge. The CrossFit classes are also great, especially coach Jeremy who even loaned me his clean socks (!) when I forgot mine. He’s great at scaling the workouts for your current fitness level while challenging you to build more skills.

One of the best CrossFit gyms I’ve been to. The space itself is great. We took a class with Jeremy, who is a fantastic instructor. He gave excellent advice making sure everyone was following proper technique.

The programming was really great too. Really fun and challenging workout.

Finally - great music!

I have been going to BK Fit in Clinton Hill since February 2025. I am new to Cross Fit and have been doing 2-3 sessions a week. My experience has been great so far. All the trainers I have had (Jonathan, Nazar, Shimi and Roman) are patient and very helpful. It takes me time to learn and I can hear them repeating themselves a lot to me.

Management was super accommodating in letting me drop in for 24/7 open gym while I was in town. Really made training a breeze. The space is huge and I had no problem getting my workout in even during a class time (the coach was also super friendly and accommodating to make sure we both had the space we needed). Thanks BK Fit!

I rarely do reviews but I can’t help myself. This place changed my life. I love love love it and have built my schedule to make sure I can go as much as possible. Shimi is the ultimate coach and I have learned so much about form and the body. I came in two years ago recovering from an injury and feel stronger than ever. Plus there is a crew of us that I love seeing every time. Lots of good times here.

My name is Susan, I have been doing CrossFit for a year and a half, and I have to say that my wife and me truly had the BEST experience at BKFit Clinton Hill ever!!!!!!! Thanks to Shimi and the other fitness instructors, I got to workout (which I LOVE-I mean endorphins are the BEST), get stronger, listen to amazing music, meet new friends, and have fun!!!!! AND I even got some PRs!!!! Working out has always been something that has been important to me but my wife and me have not always felt comfortable going to certain gyms for lots of different reasons (I.e. queer couple, toxic masculine gym culture, past cross fit injury, being goofballs and weirdos and some people don’t like that, etc. etc.) but at BKFit we felt comfortable to be ourselves right away!!! There are people of all different CrossFit levels here from beginners/first timers all the way up to elite athletes and everyone can workout together and have fun!! Also I’ll never forget the April fool’s day workout where I got to squeeze a rubber chicken each time I ran a lap of the room πŸ˜‚ anyways, THANK YOU SHIMI and allll the other instructors and to bk fit!!! This will always be one of my FAVE GYMS EVER!!!! πŸ’ͺπŸ˜±πŸ‘

My and my partner’s time at BK Fit Clinton Hill was one of the BEST CrossFit experiences ever!!!!! I am fairly new to CrossFit and I still remember one of the instructors, Shimi, introducing himself to me, and making me feel comfortable my first day in class! Shimi and all of the instructors truly helped make a safe space for me and my partner to truly be ourselves, to reach our fitness goals, and just to feel good in our bodies!!! They truly cared about our experience and helped us modify any exercises we needed!!! Also, the instructors were SUPER fun each with their own individuality and take on the different workouts! It was exciting to see what new exercise I was going to learn and I truly pushed myself in the best way and was challenged in all the ways I needed to be too!!!! THANK YOU SHIMI AND ALL THE INSTRUCTORS for making this one of the BEST gym experiences ever!! I can’t wait to come back!!!!

I have never done cross fit before and will admit when I walked into this gym for the first time a few months ago I was intimidated. As a girl working out in a gym with a bunch of dudes doing intense things like hang power cleans with bar bells for the first time.. it can be really intimidating. My experiences at this gym have been very positive though from the moment I walked in. The teachers are all SO friendly. Shimi, Roman, Alison... They all take the time to learn your name and give you personal instruction (esp if you're newish). They really teach you proper form and are SO patient. It's very encouraging. And then on top of that everyone at the gym is super friendly. I'll have guys in class fist bump me after class or say great workout. It's a really nice vibe. So I do a lot of different workouts and I'll say this is the only one that leaves me feeling sore for days afterwards. There's something really amazing about being able to do this type of workout that not only makes me feel physically strong but mentally strong. Highly recommend!

I originally went to BK Fit becuase it was the closest gym to my house but ended up working out more than ever. The coaches and other class memebers are all so welcoming whether you feel like chatting that day or not. They’ll coach you through exactly what you’re doing and give you a high five for any progress you make! Can’t reccomend it more, even for any CrossFit novices out there like I was!

As many others have said in the reviews, this gym cares about one thing: money. There is no sense of community and you get the sense that all you're worth to the owners is how much revenue you're generating for them.

I was a member at this gym in the spring and summer of 2023. I took the "free" introductory class and signed up for a monthly unlimited membership the same day so that the cost of the class could be applied to the first month's fees. They pressure you into purchasing a difficult-to-cancel membership day of. When I took my friend a few weeks later, he didn't immediately join and was instead sent an offer for an entire month free just one week after his introductory class. When I reached out to them asking if there were any similar offers, they said they run different promotions for different customers.

Other annoying things BK Fit does:
- $15 cancellation/no show fee: WHY? none of the classes are ever full. This kind of fee is only beneficial if classes fill up and customers have a hard time booking into certain time slots. It disincentivizes customers from booking into classes that they cannot attend but capacity was never an issue.
- Cost of beverages/protein bars: why was everything more expensive at the gym than the bodega at the end of the block?
- Cancellation policy: they require you to cancel at least 30 days ahead of next bill date, which is nothing more than another money grab.
- Credit Card processing fee: they charge a 3% fee on top of the already high monthly membership. Not a huge amount but again just seems like a slap in the face and not something I've ever seen any gym charge. Just bake it into the monthly fee so that customers don't feel like they're being taken advantage of.

There are some good coaches (Ligia, Courtney, Roman) but the programming isn't amazing and the overall vibe is definitely off. Would not recommend.

The worst experience I've ever had in a gym, they literally kidnapped my credit card and charge me over $1,200 for going only two times to test the gym. They don't care about the customer, they don't care about having a great service, they create trap form systems so cancelling is a nightmare and they get as much as possible from you.

It's too pricey, the environment in the classes is toxic, and the staff really don't care about what they are doing. On top of that, they basically base their business model off taking your money off your credit card even when you are explicitly request cancelling their services!

Please, do yourself a favor and sign up for another gym.

After not having done crossfit for over 10 years, and now being in my late 30's, i was a bit intimidated and nervous about injuring myself. After working out with Shimi and his AWESOME, supportive, friendly trainers I'm so glad I pushed past the nerves and am investing in my health- Roman is great also. I too have heard its an easy way to injure myself, and it seems as though the trainers are more patient, knowledgable and open to pushing me to my limit, not the limit of some crossfire champion or what's written on the board. It's truly the most intense workout I've ever done and after each class im charged up and so happy I pushed myself as hard as I did. I highly recommend this workout if you want to get in the best shape of your life- just speak up and go only as hard as you want.
And I've read people complaining about their pricing. First off, there's nothing better than your health in invest in. Secondly, they're very very upfront about the costs and the cancellation policy with auto-pay- they sent a whole email detailing it and made me submit that i understood the terms very clearly. A personal trainer is easily over $100 a session and this is so much less than that as just as valuable.

Terrible gym. Definitely do not recommend. Overpriced.

The programming and coaching is bad.

The policies are even more ridiculous. Automatically charging customers $15 for No-Show (i.e. just for forgetting to check in on the app). They don't care about their customers. It seems like they're only interested in getting as much money as possible.

I asked a trainer to cancel membership and now all of a sudden I owe 600 - which is crazy considering I only had a month by month membership. I've sent multiple emails that were read and left unanswered. (I have a tracking gif so I know it was read and unanswered) I'm also unable to go into my account to make a payment and my bill was sent to a collection agency.

PS: I never received any emails, letters or phone calls in response after emailing and leaving a voicemail there.

I don't usually write reviews but I wanted to share my experience at CFO. Clean, spacious and well maintained, it is a physical space that is inviting and inspires movement - not like the usual dim lit garage spaces that have come to represent earlier Crossfit gyms.

The passion and care from owners Adam and Shimi comes through in all they do. They care deeply about fitness and their passion is contagious. So generous with their knowledge. They created an environment where people feel immediately like they belong. Coaches Mike, Ali and Ian are knowledgeable and care about pushing you the right amount so that you advance in a way that is safe and frequently fun (except when burpees are involved). At CFO one can Expect to laugh as much as lift - as a bit of humor and friendly competition is incorporated into every WOD.

Despite the stylized lighting fixtures, and dark stained wood walls, It not a spa - so if you are looking for that kind of experience CFO is not a good fit. If you are looking for a place to become transformed, then this is a place for you.

Never have I seen so many of my peers become so remarkable transformed in such a short period of time. People have lost weight safely, gotten stronger, faster and fitter. If you can commit as little as three days a week for one hour, the results are truly impressive and worth ever penny.

I have been coming to Outbreak for the last 4 months and I look forward to working out with the coaches each session. I was very hesitant on my first day, as I had never signed up for something like this, I didn’t know if cross fit in general was for me. Now I know why people can’t stop talking about cross fit! Not only are the work outs super rewarding but all of the coaches I have worked with are amazing, you feel like you are part of a team, and there is a definite sense of camaraderie between the people attending as well. Although I only attend sessions at the Clinton Hill location, Outbreak has many locations all around the city. Over all I would (and have) recommend Outbreak!

I've been going here since last April and must say it's a life changer. I've trained Marital Arts in the past, but never did workouts quite like this. I had almost no experience lifting weights and hardly ever used a timer to train with. There's something really motivating about the clock ticking, the music playing, and focusing in on the workout at hand. All kinds of people show up and do this together. You can scale the routine to your needs, so there's no pressure to keep up with anyone but you. If you've been looking for a place to test yourself and learn something new, give this a shot!

One of the stars is just for Mike Wade who is a professional and excellent Crossfit coach. The other 2 stars reflect a business that soured in my opinion over time. Originally one box, focused on athlete experience and community, eventually the owners took to expansion across Brooklyn and forgot who their original members were and that they made the place. They started cutting corners, leaving the gym messy, disorganized, and not a comfortable place. Although there are some great people here including good coaches, a business is judged by how it views its clients .. in this case, crappy. After their expansion, the owners became seemingly fixated on the business side and uninterested in providing a great workout experience or decent and clean facilities. Finally, in the end, as a parting gift after more than adequate notice for myself and my girlfriends membership cancellation we were charged the full fee for an entire month we were completely unable to use due to a move. Thanks Outbreak, and good luck.

I had been curious about Crossfit for a while before checking out CFO. The whole thing was slightly intimidating - but the moment I stepped into CFO, all those thoughts quickly disappeared. The vibe is welcoming, supportive and fun. All the coaches are fantastic and each teaches with their own personality and style. They're always willing to help and tailor workouts to individual members needs. The space is top notch with a little Brooklyn design flair. I started out with a 3 times a week package but it wasn't long before I had committed to the Monthly Unlimited and the crossfit bug had fully bitten. If you're experienced and just passing through or a newb in the neighborhood, don't hesitate to check this place out.

These guys are totally dishonest scammers. We signed up for one month to try it out, explicitly telling them that we were only doing a month and not interested in a recurring package. The trainer assured us that we would only be charged for a month and that we could renew at the end only if we wanted to. Of course they automatically charged us again at the end of the of month and when I called to complain they told us that we needed to give 30 days notice of cancellation and refused to reverse the unauthorized charge. Make sure you get everything in writing because they will try to rip you off every chance they get.

Since I joined this gym I spend less time working out but am way fitter than I was when I was putzing around a gym on my own. Their hour long classes pack a lot in.

The typical class starts with a warm up, where you get your heart rate up and mobalize what's going to be used in the workout. Then there is strength or skill work. You either work with a specific lift or get instructions on how to do a challenging movement (like rope climbs). Classes finish with the metabolic conditioning (MetCon). This is a high intensity combination of several exercises. I'm pleasantly exhausted at the end of the hour. Going 3 times a week has me feeling and looks my much better. It's the most fun and efficient way to exercise I've found.

I can't say enough about the coaching and programming at Crossfit Outbreak. They offer challenging and fun workouts, rowing, skill sessions, and mobility classes while maintaining a strong sense of support and community.

Flashback to September 2014... I had been running road races and taking classes at a typical gym. I was looking for something more challenging and dynamic. I met Shimi, Mike & Adam and was quickly convinced to check out the box. Having never (I mean, never ever) lifted a barbell in my life, I was at first intimidated. But the coaches were so clear and thorough in their instructions, and constantly reinforced form over weight until I gained more confidence.
Now, just over a year later, I feel so motivated and strong and ready to take on any challenge life throws my way!
This is a great place to work out, challenge yourself, and feel incredibly supported by the coaches and the other members!

Through their programming and coaching, I have become so much stronger and fitter in a short amount a time. I encourage everyone to try CFO, you'll be amazed at the results and meet some amazing people during the process.

I've gone to several crossfit gyms and Crossfit Outbreak is different. The smaller classes and attention to detail by the instructors make for a specialized experience that gets me trained properly so that I am fit and free from injury. They pay close attention to form before and during the WOD. Before I tried Crossfit I had always heard that people get injured. NOT HERE. Additionally the WODs are always different - so you get a ton of variety, which keeps it interesting. The rowing class is a blast! Shimi, Adam & Mike are the best out there.

Of all the Brooklyn Crossfit gyms I researched and trialed, I chose to sign up with Crossfit Outbreak for two main reasons:

First, the coaches are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I felt as though I had a personal trainer, despite being in a class. They take the time to fix your form, recommend additional stretches for injury prevention and direct you towards additional resources.

Second, the classes are well-rounded and results-based. The regular routine consists of an ice breaker, warm up w/ stretching, skill building and a workout. Your results are recorded to guide your improvement over time. As a result, the classes are good for people of all levels - beginner to expert. Also, Saturdays are team-based workouts so you can meet your colleagues.

If you're looking for Crossfit in Brooklyn, I highly recommend Crossfit Outbreak.

This place is awesome, my only complaint is that I can't make it every night! Mike, Shimi, Adam and Ian are all great coaches, you feel like you're getting a personal training session each time you go. The general atmosphere in the box is nothing like I've had in any gym before, people of all fitness levels feel welcome, there is 0 intimidation coming to class, everyone is extremely supportive of one another. Fitness-wise I've never felt better, after 6 months I definitely can see and feel the difference in myself.

I spend almost a week a month in Brooklyn, and this gym is one of my favourite things. The coaches are awesome, it has great equipment, and the members are friendly.

This is the third Crossfit I've been to and it is by far the best. Here's why:

1) The coaches' focus is on the client: our form, our improvement, and our enjoyment. They're personable, friendly people that clearly love what they do and are good at it. Every class is an opportunity to learn and perfect not only your work outs, but warming up, stretching, and other pivotal aspects to fitness. Honestly though, they are SUCH nice people!

2) The people there/the clients. From newbies to experts, people of all fitness levels, hipsters and Hassidim, and women and men of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. No one feels left out. I am not a fitness expert; I normally feel intimidated at the gym; but these guys make me, and everyone, feel welcomed each time. They find a balance between pushing us beyond our comfort zone, while understanding our limitations. The result is a diverse group of easy-going and supportive folks at each and every class.

3) The gym itself, or in Crossfit parlance the "box," is super clean and looks rather nice. I'm not afraid to shower there if I have to - even if I left my flip flops at home. And the design is rather aesthetically pleasing for a gym. The light bulbs, the extras you can rent/buy (towels, protein bars, water), the music, and the computers are all value adds.

4) No culty vibe. They aren't trying to force a lifestyle or diet on you. They want to help you find the best approach for you using the tools and approaches they know work.

Just go there, try it, and you'll see for yourself.

I love CFO! Incredible coaching staff, and great, small community feel. I've gotten so much stronger and seen major results over the past 7 months. Definitely the most effective gym I've ever belonged to. I've been to a few other CrossFit boxes, but this is far and away the best; the coaches take the time to get to know each athlete, and classes are often fewer than 10 people, so you get personal training-like attention. Outbreak is also definitely the most affordable CrossFit option in the city--I feel so lucky to have found it in my own neighborhood!

When I found this place I discovered the pleasure of working out. My husband started to go 2 weeks after I started because he never saw me getting up at 5:30am to workout. He knew there was something good in there. The box is very clean and has a friendly environment.
I got addicted, he is addicted and our son who is 16 yo is coming with us sometimes.

Going to the gym has been an integral part of my fitness routine for more than 30 years, but in recent years, I've suffered injuries and have been using my gym time less than optimally. I had a free workout at Crossfit Outbreak a few weeks ago and am such a fan! Its a nice community of a varied group of people who workout as a group; its challenging, you work on achieving your goals/personal best; and our workouts are lead by certified trainers who are very committed and knowledgeable of cross fit/physiology/training, etc. Also they offer rowing, capoeira and yoga. I've seen great results in just a few weeks that I never got from the gym routine.

A very strength and metcon-focused program make the latest addition to the Brooklyn CrossFit landscape well worth the price of a membership. I came from a strict powerlifting background. Since joining this box, I have been more than pleased with the balance struck between strength training and gymnastic skills. The staff will encourage you to push your limits, but will always rein in those of us who are clearly trying to do too much and risking injury in the process. A great experience, highly recommended.

Great box! Everyone is very welcoming and supportive of each other. The coaches are cool, witty & very knowledgeable. The WODs are difficult to say the least...but they scale it down to your level. But for me, the members and the overall vibe of the box is what i like the most.

***************
UPDATE!!!!

About 8 weeks in and I feel amazing! I am faster, stronger and a lot less tired than when I first started. The WODs are awesome! Coach Shimi does a great job with programming. you get a good amount of strength and as well as metabolic conditioning... a.k.a cardio. Coach Dan can always be counted on for comic relief...and coach Mike is hands down the best 1 man cheering team this side of the Hudson...lol. All are great coaches and they all will kick your butt any day of the week. If you're looking to get into crossfit, I would definitely recommend Crossfit Outbreak.
