Pros: well priced, good location, variety of equipment, pleasant environment/ aesthetic, pleasant staff, members are cool

Cons: Cleanliness of locker room and bathroom have taken a dive. For the first years when I joined ( I joined months after they opened) there was always a staff member wiping equipment, refilling paper towel/disinfectant station, ensuring locker rooms were tidy and free of random garbage. They need to return to that. A row of bikes has been out of order since early in the year; another machine has been out for order for weeks. There isn’t a single water bottle refill station like at some other locations.

AWFUL!! PureGym bought Blink out and changed the contract. Only 4 guests visits a MONTH total, when before it was unlimited.

Under New York’s Health Club Services Law, if a gym changes ownership or substantially changes its operation, members have the right to cancel without penalty. They take about a month to reply to emails and refuse to cancel without penalty.

Gym is super crowded and 30% of equipments are always broke.

DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I just wanted to share a quick note as someone who really enjoys being part of Blink. The staff here are consistently excellent—friendly, professional, and clearly committed to creating a great environment.

That said, I’ve been increasingly frustrated by the condition of some of the equipment. Quite a few machines have been out of order for a while now, and I know I’m not the only member who’s noticed. In particular, the rower has had issues for months, specifically, the foot straps in the rowers, which I’ve brought up to the team more than once. I understand it’s been on the service list for some time, but it’s disappointing that it hasn’t been addressed.

Updating my June 2025 review: so Blink was taken over by Pure Gym. I was there today and the treadmills and bikes have gotten even worse. Over 50% of these are not working. What the heck!

Original review: I say this with respect: when equipment stays broken, it sends a message that member experience isn’t a priority. I’m really hoping to see this resolved soon—ideally within the next week or two.

Thanks again for all you do, and I’m hopeful this will be taken seriously.

Sad to say I've been a member since this gym opened and it has went downhill. Bad enough it's crowded but you have many people on equipment just surfing on their phones.
Equipment is always breaking. They currently have 7 recumbent bikes but only one works and it's been like this for a month.
The last issue is not necessarily Blink's fault but for the safety of their customers they should be more aggressive.
There is a homeless woman who practically lives in the lobby. She smokes in the open and the worst is that she urinates and defecates in the lobby itself. So sometime when you enter from the street the smell overpowers you.
To be fair, they sometimes call the police and make her leave, but she always returns, often being erratic. This adds to the overall experience of walking past someone's bowel movements, only to encounter a gym where you can't get a good workout because of the broken machines or crowded environment.

Sadly the gum is left behind. No one to tale care of that anymore.

There is just 1 sitting bike working for the last 5 months. No one to tell when and why it’s not been fixed yet. So frustrating.

It’s opening a new gym on 125th soon. You guys will loose all ur clients if keeps like that.

I definitely don't recommend!!
I would like to share my experience at Blink Fitness, I decided to cancel my membership after several unpleasant experiences, and I would not recommend this gym to anyone. The main issues I faced were related to safety, lack of support from staff, and overall poor management.

During my time there, I experienced harassment, and instead of handling the situation responsibly, the gym failed to provide the support and protection I expected. The staff seemed unprepared to deal with serious complaints, and the environment quickly became uncomfortable and unsafe for me.
For these reasons, I decided to move to another gym where I finally feel safe and respected.

I truly do not recommend Blink Fitness to anyone who values safety, respect, and proper customer service.

Average experience, but overall people need to be wary as they will be transitioning to Pure Gym soon Blink as a business was doing so badly, they fold for bankruptcy.

I hope we really will get better equipment, digital tools, etc for this location - but since this specific gym was in the list of at risk locations in the bankruptcy filling, I’m concerned that this locations days may be numbered in the long run, eliminating one of the few gyms in the area for lifting.

Blink is transitioning to Pure Gym, although it's anyone's guess when the new ownership will be reflected in the equipment. At the moment it's clear that they are letting the equipment age out, with many machines out of order. This morning there was an unhoused person coughing and scratching themselves at the entrance and the building lobby smelled of urine. I wish I were exaggerating. The staff try so hard to be friendly and helpful but it's getting to the point where I feel demoralized going there. Do paying members deserve this?

I am writing to share some concerns my mom has noticed at the gym that I believe affect both the member experience and overall safety:
-Several machines have been out of order for months, limiting options for workouts.
-The general cleanliness of the facility has declined and could benefit from more frequent upkeep.
-I have also observed individuals who do not appear to be members lingering in the lobby area. This creates an uncomfortable and potentially unsafe environment for paying members.

My mom values being part of this gym community and would appreciate if these concerns could be addressed promptly. Please let me know if there are any plans in place to resolve these issues.

Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to your response!

The gym has a thousand treadmills, another thousand bikes, and only one leg extension machine, one leg curl machine, one abductor, and one adductor. The worst part is that for such a densely populated area, there aren’t many gym options. So all that’s left is getting frustrated and waiting forever just to do one exercise.

This gym just keeps getting worse and so does the staff. They need better/more consistent maintenance on their equipment because very popular machines are constantly broken for weeks. The bathroom somehow always out of toilet paper and the cleaning stations are always out of paper towels. When I tell the staff they nod and continue standing around talking to each other. I waited for over 30 minutes for the abduction machine that two women were on, and I did another exercise while I waited. When I finally asked how many sets they had left they didn’t want to give me an answer..I was fed up at this point and went to the staff. The two women working on the afternoon of 3/1/25 acted as if there was nothing they could do about someone hogging a machine. I felt that the people hogging the machine then made it a point to take even longer because I asked how many sets they had left and started filming me as if I was the one being inconsiderate. The gym staff were extremely unhelpful, and this interaction ruined my entire workout today. I’ve been working out at crowded gyms for many years. I understand gym etiquette and the high level of patience that must be exercised when working out in a budget gym in Manhattan. There is however a limit to everyone’s patience. What am I supposed to do when the only people in the gym with any kind of authority refuse to do their job? I’m at this gym 4-5 days a week. I’m extremely disappointed and angry with my recent experience at a place I come to in order to improve my physical and mental health. At a gym this crowded their need to be reasonable machine time limits or rules about allowing other to work in. Perhaps this should be posted on the wall for people who are unfamiliar with general gym etiquette. We all pay to SHARE this space and equipment.

Changed policy without any notice that a PHYSICAL drivers license or set of keys must be turned into the staff to use clips/squat pads/etc. apparently because of stealing. Because I was (of course) not prepared for this, I just randomly could not use those items (free squats without clips is a stupid and potentially unsafe situation to have to deal with). No apology for the inconvenience or anything.

Shoutouts to Cynthia, who is a blessing to this place—kind to absolutely everyone, an excellent problem-solver and redeems for other, unpleasant staff

The gym itself is fine. Usually overcrowded and weights scattered, but I can empathize with that. Unannounced policy changes and rude staff? That’s not cool.

-good operating hours, at least for New York City

Clicks between members allow them to dominate machines even when you’re waiting for 15-20 minutes for your turn. This location is honestly the worst for this behavior and staff can’t really intervene appropriately. I’ve been going to blink for 3+ years, but this is by far the most difficult location to workout for this reason.

The worst showers and toilets of them all.
Iv’e had Blink membership for more than three years and most of the time I come to this location because it’s convenient for my commute. The toilets are always dirty and with the toilet paper on the floor or the actual toilet. The showers are always dirty and they don’t supply soap (if the soap holder is not broken). I talked to a manager about it a few months back and nothing changed.

I've been going here for roughly 5-6 years. The gym is good, the equipment is between good to brand new as they recently had new equipment. The gym is typically 70-80% full at most times I have ever been. The members are very friendly, the workers are great, and it is very clean.

Unlike other comments not once have I ever seen homeless people within the gym's premises. A lot of the reviews comment in regards to it's capacity and having to wait for equipment. This is NYC and this gym is not the size of a warehouse. There are a lot of machines and free weights. I typically never wait more than 5-10 min for a machine in the rare cases that I wait as I dynamically change my workout and order depending on what is being used.

Only issues are sometimes when a machine is knocked out of use it can take a while to fix it. And obviously 5 less treadmills replaced with a few other machines wouldn't hurt

The facility and equipment is good and well maintained despite near constant use. The hours are good and the staff is nice. HOWEVER in over 15 years of lifting I have NEVER experienced a gym with such awful members. No one has any gym etiquette. They will monopolize 3-5 pairs of weights at a time. They’ll take up benches or machines for 30+ minutes to do 3-4 sets. It’s unbelievable how inconsiderate and entitled the people who go to this gym are. If you can afford ANY other gym in the city I’d highly recommend.

"Disappointed and Misguided at Blink Fitness on 125th St"
I joined Blink Fitness on 125th St hoping for a clean, reliable, and well-managed fitness experience, but my time here has been nothing but frustrating, poor management.
I wanted to try their personal trainers, and I bought a package. On the next month I was charged again because I should have cancelled the automatic charge. The front desk staff said that the package is not refundable but would never expire, yet it did after 6 months, so I lost all my money.
When I raised these concerns, the manager, who seemed young and inexperienced, approached me with a dismissive attitude, showing no intent to resolve the issue. Rather than addressing the fact that I was misinformed, she placed the blame solely on me, disregarding her responsibility to properly train and oversee her staff about packages. When I mentioned that I would resign my membership over this, she responded sarcastically and encouraged me to do so, showing no regard for losing a loyal member who has been with Blink since 2021. I’ve also heard that other members have resigned due to the general manager's poor attitude and lack of commercial knowledge, which seems to be an ongoing issue.
It’s baffling that Blink Fitness would hire a general manager who lacks the basic customer service and commercial skills needed to run a gym effectively. Her attitude and dismissive responses to member concerns aren’t just unprofessional; they’re actively driving loyal members away. I’m genuinely disappointed to see Blink losing business simply due to poor management choices. Hopefully, corporate management re-evaluates how they select and train staff in roles that directly impact customer experience.
With so many other fitness options available, I expected better customer care and professionalism from Blink Fitness. I hope management reconsiders its approach to both staff training and customer service, as my experience here has been far from satisfactory.
Be aware of the 125th st branch at Harlem!
The manager thinks she is a goddess but she is a terrible manager with a lot of attitude and inexperience.

Only one leg extension machine is entirely insufficient. every time I come here, 75 to 98% or the cardio equipment is left unused, while there's a long queue for the leg extension machine. this can be remedied quite easily but the franchise appears to be switching out the two older, better leg extension machines that once adorned each location with a single newer yet stiffer, lesser machine. it's like they want to inconvenience gym-goers on purpose.

Come on blink. Getting worse and worse. Came in today to work out, no (or very little) AC throughout the gym (nowhere near peak hours or usage) but blasting in the locker room, which had a sopping wet floor with no attendant cleaning, dirt and trash everywhere with blotchy mirrors. The first 4 treadmills I stepped on were not working (no signage). Machine pads worn down. Equipment too tight (squat rack area) which makes no sense bc with the new cheaper sub-par equipment, there’s more overall space. Music blasting so loud I could hear it over my headphones. If this location survives the financial troubles, maybe they will actually listen and take action on member concerns and complaints. (Blink no need to respond unless stating what changes will be implemented.)

Visited 10/21/2024
1) No Air - Gym is in the Basement. No Windows/No AC
2) No Service on Floor only in locker room.

3) Homeless people not there to work out but to have somewhere warm and shower. but are not respectful to whom is there for purposes intended. Homeless women 1 was actually completely naked in the common area sitting on the bench in the common area. Homeless women 2 Was mindful no problem

4) Upon entering the gym floor after the locker room it was a was a man Yelling to him self and answering him self. Went to the other side of the gym to start there. however time for machine switch and the same guy starts yelling to a man working out " I KNOCK HIM OUT I KNOCK YOU YOU " THEN PROCEED TO PICK UP THE CLEANING SPRAY BOTTLE AND SPRAY AT THE GUY who was in intense reps trying his best to ignore him until the spraying started.

5) Wanna be personal trainers. Dont have nothing to do and don't know or not familiar with the proper steps to becoming an actual trainer so they stand around and steer until they feel they have found something to come talk to you about when thinking they have their mark try to pick you to give them cash on demand so they cam become your trainer while at the same time robbing you of your confidence. which is the opposite of the trainers job also speaks volume on why they don't have a job here at the blink.

6) Actual Blink Employee was Nice. Professional .....

This location it's kind of small, it has a lot of stairs masters, ellipticals, and some other cardio machines, but some how only has one leg curl, one leg station, one hip aduction, one hip abductor, and to top it up, in the women' bathroom there are always two ladies that seems to be homeless, one most of the time is washing her hair by the sink with a couple of big bags which make kind of impossible for others to use the area, the other one is always seating by the lockers in a corner either sleeping with a huge suitcase which once again that area you can't use and when she's not sleeping she's having an imaginary argument over the cell phone screening to the top of her lungs, PD I don't know if the have a membership, or if this is a social experiment, because the workers there don't do anything about it, but the situation it is very uncomfortable and kind of unsafe, all of this happens at 5:30am Avery single day

I would give 5 stars for the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff—they’re awesome. However, the equipment is lacking. The leg extension machine has been out of order like forever. How long does it take to fix or replace such an essential piece? Additionally, the equipment layout is poorly designed, with machines awkwardly placed in the wrong spots. There’s only one of each type, so you might have to wait a long time to finish your workout while someone else is busy texting on their machine.

People hog up all of the equipment. I can never find consistency in my workouts because there’s no equipment available or it’s misplaced. Attacks by homeless people within the gym have been increasingly constant in this location! Today, the same person making me uncomfortable in a place that I'm paying for to have peace of mind and de-stress a little. The homeless man threw the weight next to me while I went to get paper to clean the equipment. Another time the same guy verbally attacked my girlfriend in the morning!
In other words, I'm paying to feel uncomfortable in the place where I come to relieve my stress from long working hours and nobody do anything to fix this problem!
In the morning a lady comes with her suitcase, takes a shower and eats inside the women's changing room! She has already verbally attacked me and other womens and no one does absolutely anything. Disrespect and lack of professionalism! It's been horrible and exhausting coming to work out and always having to go through some discomfort like this!!!!

I have been a blue member for the past 4 months at 125th and can say my membership is worth the cost. This is my second gym membership in the city and will will keep it that way for as along as this pricing remains ($30/month for anytime access and first month was $1). Many reviews here have spa-like expectations for a budget price tag. I’m however willing to put up with a crowded gym, broken water fountains and more if that means I can avoid owning and maintaining any weights, bulky equipment, etc. a 5min walk from my apartment. All walks of life workout here, make friends with the staff, and clean up after themselves. That’s good enough for me.

Blink.
You decided to change your equipment on all of us without any warning or email telling us this was going to happen. Not only is this new equipment horrible, it has made the gym even more cluttered than before.
The benches are too tall. The incline press is already broken and it has only been what - 3 weeks? The benches in the back are packed so tight that you can barely move without knocking someone. Even with all this new change, the same old stairmasters (buttons broken and steps go out of control), ellipticals (off balance) and wind bikes (everything loose) can't even be bothered to be fixed first.
This is ON TOP of the plates never being properly put back, the wipes never being filled, the spray bottles nozzles being broken (or not filled), the middle sink in the men's bathroom is out of order (again), no soap ever and one of the hand dryers is out of order too.
The majority of staff are pleasant, but they seem annoyed if we bring any of this to their attention. I don't know why some of these things aren't done at the end of the day or before the gym opens.
I'm a very loyal gym goer and only want the best for this place. I just don't understand why the standards have fallen this far I want to say since Covid, but really the past year.
Sorry - just speaking truth.

I've been coming here for a few years. The gym is clean and the staff is friendly, but I think I'm going to have to cancel my membership because the new equipment they bought is horrible. They recently replaced almost all of the equipment even though the old equipment was is good condition for the most part. MANY of the new machines are completely unusable for me because they are too big. Leg extension, hamstring curl, incline leg press, and others are clearly sized for average-to-tall men. Even the new benches are taller than standard height for some unknown reason (my feet can't reach the ground when I try to dumbbell press). I'm 5'2", but I know people as tall as 5'9" are having similar issues.

Great local gym with decent space. Feels decently clean and the equipment is usually in a working condition. My only real negative comment is that they consistently have a carabiner clip shortage (that the staff knows about but says management does nothing about to solve) which leaves multiple cable machines unusable or used at half efficiency due to the shortage and makes members have to wait around or I've even seen guys fist fight over machine availability (pretty immature). I've personally bought a 6 pack of the gym quality carabiners and donated them to the gym, but they were all gone again in a few weeks. I understand that management may not want to fix this issue, but it is affecting the members and is a simple and cheap fix if they just bought them in bluk. Otherwise, I think it's a good gym for a fair price.

I’m very surprised, mostly the people are giving 4 or 5 stars , really?
You can come here 5am , 1pm, 3pm it’s always busy , u have to fight for the equipments, also so many are broken, they don’t have to much and what they have it’s broken. It’s been 1 week I’m here and I can’t finish one workout , cuz really it’s impossible . But the staff are so cool.

This gym is a joke.
They let people in before the gym even opens at 5am.
Either open it for everyone earlier or stop it.
Ridiculous. This has been going on for months.
Bathrooms are never clean.
Paper towel is always out.
Spray bottles too.
Thank god for 116th being so close to go there.

The staff are very nice and it's bigger than the one in my neighborhood in Washington Heights. Usually enough space and equipment for everyone to use and maybe one or two pieces of equipment need to be repaired. My only gripe about this location and Washington Heights is that the urinals in the men's room need to be cleaned more frequently. Dried urine caked up on the insides of the standing urinals for days, perhaps weeks on end--a massive pet peeve of mine.

They ran out of paper towels to clean exercise equipment and resorted to using regular towels. This is both unsanitary and a health hazard due to cross-contamination. Has covid taught the establishment nothing? I don't pay both a monthly and annual maintenance fee for supplies to run out. I previously suggested they go back to wet wipes, but my request was ignored. Clearly, covid taught us nothing.

Not the best location and the majority of the staff isn’t helpful. No one is ever around the front desk. You literally have to track them down to speak to someone. No one is trained on the cancellation policy everyone says something different and apparently nothing can be done unless a specific manager is around.

I purchased a pre-workout drink before the start of my work out and it seems like the worker was new. He had me redo the order multiple times, and I was charged twice even after I asked him to confirm that I wasn’t. Gym was OK otherwise, but that experience was a turn off, especially when they’re drinks are already priced higher than the store.

This specific branch of Blink is poorly maintained. The soap dispensers haven't been filled for a week, the urinal hasn't worked for a month, and some of the machines are permanently damaged. They just put the sticker saying that it would be repaired. Pathetic!

I just asked the person in the front desk for resistance loop bands, they always have it and there was no one in the floor using it, the employee was too lazy to check and just said they don’t have it, it’s annoying when you ask for things and the employees don’t even bother checking for you.

By far my favorite gym! Love the energy and the growth mindset behind everyone who works there 💕 I go in practically every day and I love seeing similar faces and friendly smiles. The app also definitely motivates me to keep coming in too! Just want to see those little orange dots on all days of the month 😅🤣. I’ve visited the 116th location as well but by far this one feels more like home. Judgement free zone where you’re just focused on yourself and so are people around you. It feels like a community— we’re all working together but independently, working on our own goals and winning everyday at life 💪🏽😤

Too many hidden fees, no way to get a refund for a payment that I'm not taking advantage of (again, because of fees hidden in the contract which they love to throw at your face). Dishonest
PT's not the best - had 3 cancellations of the every weekly PT session that were maximum within the last 2-3 hours, if not an hour, of the session start. No way to get a refund for the rest of the service not used after the lack of proper service, because locked in to 4 monthly sessions. No where else in this day and age where I experienced no refund for returning the time/product back.
I genuinely dislike this place SO MUCH. Thanks for the new years gift of horrible service and surprise charges to my card. Booooooo

This is a very good gym for the price, even when you take the various hidden fees into account. Plenty of cardio machines and dumbbells, and a pretty good variety of strength equipment. Certain stations can get crowded (good luck trying to bench here), but on the whole it's manageable. The space is also impressively clean. Overall, great value.

Good place to workout in the morning if a worker actually shows up to open the gym. Happens too often that the early morning workers are a no-show and you’re left waiting outside in the cold. Doesn’t help that there’s no alert system through the app to tell you if the gym is actually open or not.

This gym has been steadily going downhill. Despite having a throng of people working at the desk, there's never any cleaning supplies on the floor. We went from having wipes to now having paper towels that don't soak in the cleaning liquid from the spray bottles to no or empty spray bottles and empty paper towel dispensers. Expect half your time at the gym being spent chasing down cleaning supplies.

There's never any weights available. It's always packed with people no matter time of day. It's a waste. There's always someone at the gym who has not put on deodorant or is singing their music as loud as possible. People will literally stand on you or stare at you constantly. It's like their target clientele are people with minimal to no personal awareness.

Be aware of their monthly no comittment scam. I signed up for 2 months but the gym is always so busy that I decided to cancel my membership. The cancelation costs are payment of an additional month and what they call "annual fee" of $60. Which means I end up paying $95 to cancel my "no commitment" membership..

I am happy to modify my review if this was wrong information I received from the front desk agent but if that is really the case I recommend to avoid this gym, this is dishonest practice.

Blink gives you a hard time to cancel and gives you 100$ on fees. They have no customer service number and you have to wait days for response from their representatives online. Don’t waste your time or money. Planet fitness has 3 levels and lots of space and equipment. Anytime I called managers were nice and worked with you

I couldn’t even get in contact with blink fitness managers

They need to put a cap on how many members are allowed to workout at a time. You can’t get a good pump because you have to wait 15-20 minutes for the next machine. It’s honestly a fire hazard to have as many people as I saw today at the 125th st location.. The free weights are scattered everywhere and the gym is overall a mess because the staff does nothing but say “have a great workout”. I’ve worked at two gyms and I understand how busy it can get but that’s why the staff need to actually work and not just stand around the front desk.

It’s fine. Don’t come here expecting to find weights in their proper place, the machine you want to use open, a flat floor, barbell collars, 2.5 pound weights, or any thing that makes a gym noteworthy. If you lower your expectations to that then you’ll have a fine time. Would not recommend to veteran lifters.

I love Blink is not bad , The prices are accessible but we need more free motivation inside , staff are Cool and gentle. The place always looks clean. I gave 3 stars because even if you missing the gym for a while, nobody called to motivate you come back! They’re just happy to charge you every month lol .😆 I know I said I love blink before but zero Interest for the client, just interest for the money they charging you , I don’t know if all blinks are like that but some an specifically are like this . And for any cancelation so you get charge . People need motivation sometimes ,send a llittle Email or an automatic message to let people know don’t forget their exercise for this week or for the month ETC .

It is a good gym for the price. The people that work there are nice.

BUT there customer service is horrendous… They are a subscription based gym and make it VERY hard to cancel your membership.

Due to covid most people were not going to the gym, they made it difficult to cancel. I followed all of their instructions but they are still trying to charge me.

They also charge you to CANCEL… that is a scam within itself.

Their cooperate based customer service is evil, rude and nasty.
