I have attended three breathwork workshops led by Arthur. I did not know what to expect going in, so I just focused on my intention and kept it in my mind throughout the session. A few minutes after the first workshop started, I got overwhelmed by the breathing technique, as it took a lot of effort from me, and I wondered if I could survive one hour of this. But after ten-fifteen minutes I was fully immersed in the process and enjoyed it. I felt that my body needed it; time flew by. It is hard to put the experience in words. Throughout the hour, I went through many different emotions, all of which felt intense, and by the end of the session I just felt lighter, different. I felt a shift in me. And in another workshop I felt the area around my heart become as soft as a cloud, it felt as if my hands were resting on a cloud - that’s how open my heart felt. I recommend these workshops by Arthur.

I came to the yoga - qi gong class in a tizzy from a lot of chaos going on in my life and by the end, I felt so much more grounded and calm. It was a great workout, stretch and introduction to energy work. The teacher's movement was graceful and inspiring. The studio owner gave a consultation and offered me advice tailored to my issues of feeling burnt out. Very welcoming, human atmosphere. They invited the class members to stay for tea and chat afterwards, which I've never experienced in a NYC studio in my life - so nice! Looking forward to returning.

I was attracted to this place specifically because it offers a mix of three disciplines. Although I am much of a beginner in reference to Tai Chi and Qi Gong, I do have a deep and long Yoga practice (over 30 years). I was searching for a place/practice which will compliment and enrich my Yoga practice with an emphasis on energy flow as well as refresh it with new movement flows.
This cosy most personal welcoming little studio opened a big window for me with a fascinating view.

I’ve been attending weekly Tai Chi classes at Manhattan’s Body and Brain facility for 7 weeks now under the instruction of Masters Arthur and Dahnsoon. Both bring many years of experience and knowledge to their art and their enthusiasm is highly motivating. In each session, we learn various exercises and Tai Chi stances and movements. The teachers explain everything as they go—not only do we learn how to perform these stances but how they are beneficial to body and mind. Classes are held in a large room with soft light and tamped acoustics to promote repose and concentration. Students are encouraged to practice on their own, too. I highly recommend Body and Brain Manhattan. You’ll come away with a good workout and maybe, as I did, a whole new vocabulary.

I came to Body&Brain Yoga during the pandemic after 4 years training Aikido at the New York Aikikai and I must say that I am a convert. The great gift that Body&Brain has to offer lies in body awareness. Body&Brain's eclectic mix of techniques - a product of the research undertaken by founder Ilchi Lee - targets to body's core and its extremities via its chakras and the meridians with the goal of accumulating, storing and conscientiously using its energy. Tall order - but it works. With Body&Brain, each new ache and pain is not a hindrance but an opportunity to grow in understanding and healing the body.

B&B Yoga has been a life saver for me. In just a few months (over zoom) their technique of movement, tapping and breath work has improved my flexibility, balance and strength all which had greatly diminished over the past 2 years due to a rheumatic disorder affecting my joints that made even slight movements painful and challenging. Instead of walking like the tin man, I am more agile, my movements more fluid. Their active technique has improved my focus and ability to get present and reduce stress far more than any other yoga or breathing practice I’ve tried. And I’ve only started. In addition to classes group and one on one I love their you tube videos targeting specific areas of the body as well as deeper psychological issues. Im looking forward to much more.

I joined Body and Brain and went to classes because I suffer from back problems and pain for many years, and recently carpal tunnel issues. I joined zoom classes and private sessions during the pandemic. I learned different ways to alleviate carpal tunnel pain. I became stronger, flexible and moving much more freely with the different exercises and movements. After class, my body is free from pain and my mind calm and peaceful!
The center manager, Geum Dawoon is an excellent instructor and very caring. I am grateful that she has helped me tremendously to start moving my body and alleviate pain. I highly recommend the zoom classes to improve your health: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind!

I am an individual urgently seeking to understand and learn more about existence, and what I’ve recently come to understand is that self discovery is the foundation of this. - Brain and body yoga tai chi is not about appearances and simply getting in shape, we are learning about our own inner confidence. Master Geum said to me, “There are 24 hours in a day; how much time do you actually spend for yourself”?
It hit me deeply, that I do not spend near enough time focusing on myself : ) It is clear that all members in the class care about the people... The culture of the studio is a proponent of acceptance; acceptance for both ourselves and for one another. I highly recommend the vibrational class, you can feel the strength of your energy levels being enhanced greatly - In fact there’s a bit of an underlying emphasis on energy with everything they do.
It has been two years since I have been coming to this practice. It has given me great changes to my physical appearance and my confidence in life. I have more of a purposeful drive : )
One of the great things is that the Center transitioned to offering Virtual Classes.... This is sooo convenient and organized through Zoom... The prices are much improved and I can attend without having to drive or take the train in. Masters are available to talk directly to everyone if you need personal guidance. I’ve been practicing Body&Brain yoga for many years now. I used to have pain from my past sports injuries( my left knee and middle back) which are gone long time ago. I’m in my 70’s and in my 6th week as a member of Body and Brain Yoga. Before joining, I felt like a a bundle of dry “twigs”, with poor flexibility and balance. I can definitely see and feel improvement in both areas. What truly surprises me, is when I walk into a class feeling tired and sluggish, and by the end I’m alert and energized. I have a distance to go before I reach my goals, but I’ll get there.

I’ve been going to the Body& Brain Manhattan Center for almost two years. Their exercises are similar to energy and restorative yoga or perhaps meridian yoga. It’s relaxing and helps me to find my center. If you are looking for a light exercise that helps with coordination and flexibility - this place is great for that.

Very gorgeous and welcoming space after you brave the sketchy hallways and endless stairs. The class is worth the climb. Suggested donation is $10 - cash only, get there early for prime mat space. Limited blocks and blankets are available for borrow. Changing space in "pods" in the back so keep the bathrooms open. The class I attended wasn't heated but things got warm so bring a towel and water. They rent mats for $1.

I was feeling completely flat from accumulated stress and was looking for some way to start turning things around. My energy and creativity was exhausted amongst other things, and I felt I needed something more than just visiting a gym. I found this centre after some research, and am delighted to say I haved felt some vast improvements to my energy and creativity in only 2 and a 1/2 weeks of attendance about 3 times a week and following exercises given to me at home. Very happy I made the decision to investigate it. Small classes in a peaceful environment, unlike loud gyms with everyone on their phones while on machines.

If you want to be a healthier and happier person this is definetly a place for you. I joined "Body and Brain" about 2 years ago because I had read about the benefits of Tai Chi. At that time I had a bad lower back pain. Now I am completely pain free! I discovered Body and Brain about 6 months ago and it has quickly become an integral part of my week. The format and instructors are very experienced, intuitive and knowledgeable they have such a great outlook on each individual and what is needed. For me my focus has been on breathing, stress and general health. While some may consider the classes not the same as other yoga classes, these classes are all tailored to really focus on internal health, gut, lungs and general well being, core, movement, flexibility. The range of classes have really helped me with progressing my healing and general overall outlook and health. I practiced here for a few months diligently before my work swept me away for 3 years straight. I had a very unfortunate accident during my time away which resulted in more than just a broken back. The amount of injuries my body suffered from is enough to shatter anyone's spirit. I did physical therapy then weight training to build my body up, however, I was not feeling any better mentally nor emotionally. I eventually found my way back to this center and noticed how much better I can move and feel as a result of the exercises, energy of the instructors, and the ambiance of this space. Through the workshops I was able to experience the things that I would just normally read about regarding the mind and spirit. My perspective is so much brighter and I very grateful for the practice and the people who have helped me.

My experience at Body and Brain has been truly rewarding and wonderful, from the moment i found Body and Brain on google i had a feeling Body and Brain would help me with my issues of insomnia, stress, asthma and many more health issues I had. For a very long time i was looking for a place to go where i can relieve stress and feel peace with myself as I was going through a lot of depression. The four weeks I have been here have been challenging and so rewarding for me, I am learning so much about how our mind body and energy work together and how we as individuals are responsible for our healing and i am so happy i found this place the instructors have been soo helpful and are very knowledgeable and always willing to help. Not only is this Yoga but there are other classes such as Tai Chi, meditation and I highly highly recommend Body and Brain to anyone who is seeking to find their true self and to live a full happy energetic life.

I have had severe health problems for the last few years. However, I have noticed big improvement in my health in a short time after I started coming to classes.
All instructors are genuinely caring and good people. I feel like I get a combination of good exercise and meditation with each class. I would recommend it to single people of all ages and couples. They have a fun dancing/detox/vibration class on Friday. Joining bodynbrain union square was one of the best decisions me and my husband made.

I've been practicing on and off for a year at Dahn Yoga. At first I had no idea what Dahn yoga was, I just saw yoga and wanted to try it out for flexibility. Once I got in I met these wonderful people and was touched by their personalities and care for me, something kept me wanting to go back it's like a fantasy world where you go to relax and be YOURSELF! The practice they teach is different in the sense that they perform blood circulation exercises before stretching and I believe that's vital for deeper stretches and they perform exercises for your internal organs which helped me digest better. I must say I feel like a completely different person since the day I started. I've become more social, passionate, stronger, aware, and at peace :)

I've been practicing Dahn yoga for almost three months now. Dahn yoga has really changed my life! The energy here is so powerful. The instructors are amazing. Every time that i come at the center, and take a class I leave with a happy feeling and supper charged, full of energy. I am more aware of my body and my breathing. It's really amazing how much a yoga center can do for you, and make you feel part of their family. I love this place! I would strongly recommend this place to anyone!

This place is Heaven on Earth! I come and feel the peace emanating from the zen decor and the sincere instructors. I came here depressed and stiff, and with each class and principle I learned I was able to let go of things I didn't need in my life anymore and feel brighter and healthy. This practice has helped me improve my balance, body and emotional state awareness, and has introduced me to a community of like minded practitioners. Dahn Yoga has changed my life. I used to carry a great deal of stress, anxiety and anger and through the practice of Dahn Yoga not only do I feel lighter, happier and more in control, but I'm also physically stronger and I have lost weight. I have been going to Dahn Yoga classes on a daily basis now for almost two months. I stumbled upon the studio in a serendipity manner. At first I wasn't sure if these simple movements could really do much for my body. But I soon realized they were doing more for my outer body and inner body then any other exercise I have experienced. The studio is always full of positive energy and after finishing a class you feel your own bliss within. After getting over your pre conception of what yoga is (no downward dog in Dahn Yoga classes) and the initial strangeness of tapping your own body so much during your first class.. you will love Dahn Yoga!

Wow, great energy, lovely instructors and people, and so very clean! My first time walking in I saw many happy people who had just finished a class and that alone told me this was going to be my new studio. Plus the variety of classes and styles is amazing! A definite must try for experienced folks and those new to yoga. The classes here have some training styles I've never encountered anywhere else.

I started at the center having experienced a TIA (small stroke) when I turned just 40. I didn't realize the affect of day to day stress on my body and brain and ignored the warning signs. The training and personal care I received from the instructors over the past 8 years has been my lifeline, they are like family to me and when I do not feel good it is the first place I go. I have fully recovered and incorporate the training easily into my daily life. I have more energy, better focus and concentration, I am so much more productive and creative at work and really enjoy my life. What is different about this practice is the focus on the brain, learning how the brain works, how it gets unbalanced, and what we can do to maximize our brain's functions to live a healthier and happier life. Hello! I've been taking classes at this center for over 3 months now. I love their style of classes because it's not traditional yoga. A combination of tapping meridians, vibrating your body, energy movements, going within, and alot of light hearted fun. I always feel better when I leave, and the staff are all so wonderful, they take the time to get to know each member and what's going on for them. I have been practicing/teaching at Tao Yoga & Tai Chi for almost 7 years now. It has really changed my life. Not only did my body changed by my reactions to other and negative thoughts became more positive. The studio is beautiful and holds an energy that makes you relax as soon as you walk through the door. The instructors are caring and attentive. The yoga and tai chi that are practice here is great for all levels of people. Even if you have pain or you didn't like other forms of yoga. Highly recommend for everyone to try.
At Tao Yoga and Tai Chi they practice Dahn Yoga. Dahn Yoga focuses more on moving energy in the body in order to heal one self.
