At the Official Body in Balance™ Pilates Studio Your Personal Pilates session will focus on improving Flexibility, Strength, Balance, and Correcting bad Postures. Lou,offers 40 years of experience. Having successfully healed her own back and neck issues, she focuses on special medical needs of all types. All her clients are successful in achieving their goals, as well as overall health.She will help you with low-back pain, scoliosis, replacement hips and knees, rehabilitation from injury and pre/postnatal training. Short muscles get longer and weak muscles get stronger, without building bulk. Your spine and muscles will enjoy a sense of flexible and freedom very quickly.

I have had many Pilates sessions in multiple studios but when I had my first session with Lou I immediately knew she was special. Her many years of studying with practitioners that worked directly with Joseph Pilates generously gave her their skills and experience. Lou has taken that work, made it her own, and along the way appears to have developed X-ray eyes for adjusting posture misalignments. Her cues are the most effective I’ve heard. Her exercises always have a purpose and I will sometimes struggle, but that’s how we all learn and when I walk out the door I always leave with a sense of wellbeing and am pleased to have found this lovely studio.

I went to work with Lou a few years after having a baby. All of more core muscles were gone! I couldn’t even do a sit up. Not one. My confidence in my physical body was non existent. I had so many physical complaints. Working with Lou resolved every complaint I had and also gave me a new insight as to how I could access physical health on my own daily. She really knows her stuff! I am so grateful for having the opportunity to work with her. I feel happier and healthier!

Lou is by far the best pilates teacher I have ever encountered. I have studied pilates in a number of known studios in Tribeca and Union Square with a number of teachers. It was not until I met Lou 2 1/2 years ago and began our work together that it really clicked for me and my body transformed and my strength and agility increased.
People ask me what I do and I tell them I do pilates 2x a week- its kind of it- though I do swim from time to time.

She is extremely thorough and knowledgable about the body and classic pilates. She knows Joeseph Pilates work inside and out and can guide a person through many different moves that one never sees in a typical pilates class. She is also wise and confident in her work and is able to adjust the exercises to accommodate injuries and still allow for a person to attain their goals.

My overall strength has increased more with Lou that with any other type of work including weight training. Its not bulk strength but more like "ballet" strength and balance.

Personality-wise, Lou is lively and fun and in some ways tough- she wants you to get to your goal and she pushes but in a also in a very responsible way.
I think very highly of her and by far she is the best pilates teacher around.

Lou is a phenomenal practitioner of body mechanics and corrective body mechanics. I came to her after becoming frustrated with bad posture that was only getting worse and an increased awareness that my own body mechanics were off when I would run distances of 5+ miles. (As evidenced by unilateral joint pains and stiffness, aching back, tight muscles, and back tension in general). I hadn't used my abs since a c-section 6 years ago and she immediately identified my lack of abdominal muscle presence as a detriment to the rest of my body. I work with her twice a week and saw results in decreased back tension, increased abdominal strength , and much better posture after very little time. She is an expert in her field and very delightful to work with.
