My boys enjoy their lessons. Ty & Cash are eager every week for their lessons. The instructors are great at communicating with the swimmers of all ages and swim levels. The time availabilities always coincide with our family scheduling. We are always welcome enthusiastically and our questions are always answered by staff.

Overall a mediocre school in Queens. As a beginner adult swimmer, I did make progress in learning how to float and swim in the water. But there are a few things that the school could improve on, first being timeliness. There were many instances where I would come for my class at 2:45 PM, only to be kept waiting 5-7 minutes. The instructors were nice and friendly, but as an adult learner, I’d suggest going elsewhere for classes since the school prioritizes youth learners. Overall if your on a budget, I’d say go for it but as someone who was in the program for 3 months, it was subpar at best.

My daughter has been enrolled for 1.5 years and she loves it. The coaches take their time with the kids and eseye they learn each new lesson thoroughly. I’m in awe of their management customer service and genuinely appreciate the accommodation Louis has provided for us. Enroll your child you will not be disappointed!!

A friend told me to speak with Lisa so i went in too talk with her, she made me feel very comfortable and i signed my son up. She is so nice and goes the extra mile to help you. I Love British Swim School for my son. Everyone is so friendly and down to earth. He has been going since 2023 we stopped in the winter and came back in May 2024. He is learning so much with his swim coaches. This place is the best. The location is perfect for us.

I enrolled my 1.5 year old in May 2024 and from day one her instructors Kimora and Nasir have been amazing. Their patience and great attitude is the reason my daughter is so comfortable. She even has a handshake with them. Also I would like to mention Ms Lisa for guiding through the app and just great personality every time we entered the pool. She has also given me a great pep talk bc I was insecure about wearing a bathing suit after just having my son in February. She just has a smile that brightens the room. Overall I appreciate an inviting space for me as a parent and for my daughter to excel. They are gems of the pool always smiling and professional.

I’ve had the pleasure of learning to swim with Harmony and Amora, and I couldn’t be more grateful for their guidance. Both instructors are incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. My 2 y.o. has been enrolled for almost 2 months in the swimboree class. She has truly gotten accustomed to the water. She enjoys Ms Harmony as her instructor.
One day, it was only Kennedy in the class and Ms Harmony noticed her potential and was very patient. She even taught her some floating techniques learned in the advance classes.
Ms Harmony utilizes the toys during the swimming sessions, which really really motivates the little ones to kick their feet as hard and fast as they can.
Ms Harmony is a wonderful instructor; the company is lucky to have her. Now, Kennedy has no fears jumping into the pool. It has become her favorite part of class.

It was a decent facility. Not the cleanest but that was more on the gym and less on them. The instructors were nice. I had to cancel due to stressful family issues. They were understanding and issued me a refund.

For the most part, my experience with British Swim School on-site staff at Howard Beach location has been positive, however there are some hiccups, much of what others have shared (temp of pool, changing of instructors, some instructors appear inept). And very often, there is a different instructor every 2 weeks or so, and they facilitate the sessions differently. Jade and Chase were the best instructors! However, I have not seen either in months.

But, I’m writing this review because of my experience and interaction with the Brooklyn/Queens Customer Support team. In the past, I’ve reached out a few times about the temperature of the water because they confirmed a range but the water was always colder than stated.

Most recently, I emailed the team to provide a suggestion about the Seahorse class structure. The class is currently 4 students per instructor, but sometimes, there are 2 instructors per 4 students and this gives the children more water time because there is more of a flow. Some kids follow instructions faster than others, so some kids essentially get less water time. To this, I mentioned to the school that 4:2 works better which occurs from time to time and hopefully they’ll consider implementing a change to give the students more pool time.

This was their response:

“Hello,
Thank you for your email, we appreciate the feedback. Please note that our program operates as a 4:1 ratio for group classes. This is stated on our website before enrollment so that parents know what to expect. If you think your child would excel better in a smaller setting, we would suggest private lessons for them. Please let us know if you are interested and we can find a time and day for you.”

Rather than providing a
more thoughtful response, at minimum to appear considerate of a parent’s feedback, they state that the class ratio is noted in the enrollment details. and suggest private lessons. I am aware of the enrollment details, I signed the consents, British Swim School. My email was not to clarify the class ratio, and clearly they missed the intent of my email, and the purpose of a “suggestion”.

They are not at the lessons observing the set-up/arrangements, to fully understand the pain-points and challenges, and such a response shows their lack of awareness and openness to suggestions. Though there is an existing setup/structure, that does not suggest there isn’t room for improvement/enhancements. My email was a suggestion given months of observation, not a demand for change.

I’d somewhat recommend this swim school based on some of the instructors, not considering experience with customer support. But factoring my exchanges with their customer support team, absolutely not! Customer Service is just as critical as the provide/service you’re providing.

DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!! BE WARNED! Their price may be a bit cheaper than other swim schools however it is NOT worth a penny. You value your child & their learning experience you will turn another direction.
They have a bunch of immatures working as instructors,(do not attend to kids and play around as if they’re at a swim party) previously, there was good swim instructors however they are all gone and they hired im guessing uncertified unprofessionals to NOT reach your kids anything!

I’ve made the mistake of enrolling both of my kids here and I can say the experience have been horrible. First, my younger child in the first stage of their class got promoted to the next level and we could not find another timeframe of the different level of class for her to learn anything new, (being good people & all we were like ok since you guys have no availability currently - they apparently only had 1 schedule mid week working hours - we are working parents and stressed our concerns that there’s no enough class session for the kids and myself and few other parents had the same issue, I was told they have sent a request to their management to make new sessions to accommodate the number of kids that needs lessons - waited 4 weeks kept attending the same classes while we were thinking the situation was being rectified, called after 4 weeks again (I followed up periodically with them on status and they told me they were still waiting on response from management) when I called again about week 5 and expressed that I’ve been waiting this long I was then told that there is no notes for new sessions to accommodate the students and they have no alternative options, I was told I now have to send an email for that request! WHAT?
I told the person I spoke to, at this point I don’t feel like I’m being heard and since they have no class schedule to accommodate my kids I like to have immediate cancellation (since this is something not in control and I’ve held my peace for 4+ weeks) they had the nerve to say we wrote our policy for 30 day notice.. hahaha like heck if I didn’t pay my fees you would dropped my kids immediately with no issues. Anyways , a bunch of money hungry losers who cares nothing about providing a good service to their clients.

FYI - many other parents have complained while we were there and they’re kids been in the same classes for the longest time and not moving up. It’s not the kids with the issue trust me , it’s the horrible cheap paid instructors that they hired that don’t care a thing about their job or teaching kids..

They’re also the was another situation where they dropped my child from her class the day we arrive and then we were so confused , then when I called they said they made a mistake and dropped her and all of a sudden they’re was 2 new students in her class that replaced her spot.. (all a tactics , just to get new students in, so that they can get more money without making new classes.

Anyways , I think I wrote enough but there’s so many more reason why I would warn parents to send their kids elsewhere and not here especially if you value your money, time and your kids experience for something good.

My 3 year old began swimming on April 7, 2024 with swim instructor Jade. I like the swim school overall but the instructor is absolutely amazing. Her patiences and ability to communicate is impeccable. She is playful yet informative and has helped my child feel safe and capable. In 5 (30minute) sessions she has taught my toddler to float on her back and drastically improved her confidence in the water. If you need a swim instructor i would highly recommend her!!

I have been taking the group adult swimming lessons here. I did not know how to swim before and I made sure to communicate that to the instructor and they were patient with me throughout the whole process.

I had Nasir as my instructor for a good majority of the classes and he is really great. He’s very patient and good at giving instructions but also gives you the room and flexibility to practice and learn the moves on your own.

As someone who had never been in the water before and never knew how to swim, I got a good grasp of swimming by the 4th/5th lesson. I would say all the instructors here are good at guiding adults on how to swim.

Unorganized , late start times and cut your time short, different teacher almost every session, pool is not heated , my child has done the same routine for about 10 weeks straight no changes or improvement . No communication when i tried to cancel got no response . 1/10 wouldnt recommend . But Ms Kat was wonderful to work with when we had her as an instructor the only positive .

The staff and Instructors of British Swim School in LA Fitness Howard Beach are all awesome! Ms. Britney, Ms. Kate and Mr. Anthony make sure that their students learn the proper form and technique of a certain stroke. They give constructive criticisms at the same time give compliments if the kids did great. Ms. Lisa has always been kind and pleasant since the beginning and we appreciate her always for that. The pool area sometimes gets crowded with parents waiting with limited seating availability. Wow 👌 best swimming school in queens ! Staff, coach , equipment are all A+ . This location has the cleanest pool and no mugginess in pool area. The best thing is the ease of scheduling and making up missed classes without any penalties thus the reason many parents bring their kids here. It's perfect....monthly automatic payments. don't forget to download their app...it's so sophisticated and easy and I love it.

My 2 kids have been taking swim classes here since 10/2022. Overall I like the instructors and my kids enjoy swim classes. They are also progressing well with their aquatic skills. My 6 years old went from a child scared of the deep end and putting his face in water to a confident swimmer and adventurer at the beach diving through waves. The reason for my 4 star and not a 5 star review has to do with the facility at LA fitness. Kids have to change in tents, there is limited seating for parents and few places to hang jackets in winter time. The pool area is very hot--great for the swimmers but the parents are sweating on the sidelines. You are not allowed in the locker rooms to help your child change or use the bathroom. You have to go upstairs and use the single stall bathroom, which is often occupied. Also, most of the times, the soap, toilet paper and/or hand towel is empty. The location is very convenient and the instructors are good so I therefore tolerate the facilities at LA fitness.

My experience at the school was great. There were, however, a few minor areas that I was disappointed with. Firstly, there needs to be more classes available for Shark 1. It is hard to get a class when you move up to this level and the wait list is very long. Added to this is, once in this level you are required to swim the 25 yards and to my recollection my kid only got to do that once because the other lanes are always occupied with the LA Fitness customers. My suggestion is to get more classes available for this level and to have talks with the LA Fitness personnel to get access to another lane for when you have the Shark 1 and 2 classes and maybe to put those classes later so that the probability of getting access to the full length of the pool is greater.„

I don’t like this school, my son has been attending British swim school for over a year and he haven’t learned much. Every week it’s a different instructor and most of the time the classes have 4 kids. There’s no way you can give 4 kids adequate training in 30 minutes. I personally think it’s a waste of money. I will be looking for another school.

Those photos aren't of this location and the pools are very cloudy and dirty, I have called and others have called to complain for them to fix it, the pool water you should be able to see the bottom, you can't. I called to have a refund since I didn't cancel, they cancel a few classes due to dirty pools, they told me no refunds regardless of our dirty pools you just gotta finish your course. I will never recommend the British swim school at this location howard Beach to anyone. Very unprofessional.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. I have had the most unhelpful customer service experiences here. I recently had a change in work schedule with my job. The swim school would not allow me to change the day I I was scheduled for to accommodate my job priorities. The swim school apparently only allows a 30 day in advance cancellation which does not accommodate the above aforementioned. Therefore I’m paying money for lessons that I will not be attending and cannot make up. The customer service representative was extremely rude to me on the phone. After explaining my situation- that I am currently undergoing a change in schedule with work, she told me that my classes would be out on hold. When I called back, I came to find out that there is no such thing as the classes being put on hold. This business is a HUGE SCAM and is only after your money. Customer service does not exist here and they do absolutely nothing to accommodate you. I am now paying for a month and a half of swimming lessons that I will not be attending. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.

We’ve been coming here to swim classes for my, at the time 17 month old, since November,2020. Owner is very hands on. Staff is friendly. My daughter loves it. They’re very understanding with rescheduling as well. Both locations we’ve taken class at has been clean and safe. I definitely recommend this swim school.
