I cannot recommend Kara at Brooklyn Pilates Project enough!! Her deep knowledge of classical Pilates and the body in general has helped me transform my body and practice. She is truly the BEST! The way she provides subtle cues so clearly, helps you understand exactly where your positioning should be and this has allowed me to really deepen my understanding and technique.

My sessions with Kara feel sacred and I leave feeling a huge sense of self-love and empowerment. I genuinely can't imagine practicing Pilates with anyone else!

I’ve been taking Pilates with Kara for about a year now, and have seen big improvements in my posture and mobility in that time! She’s great at figuring out adjustments that specifically cater to you/your body. And I’m convinced that she helped me heal an ankle injury. I really look forward to my sessions each week and I highly recommend!

I've been doing classical pilates for a decade and just moved to Brooklyn for the first time - I am so glad I found Kara. You can bring any question or concern to her and she understands exactly what you are talking about and how to go about remedying it. I leave every session feeling like I've had a massage, like my back is stronger and my posture corrected. She knows the history and the equipment like the back of her hand. I followed her to her new space, which is absolutely lovely.

I walked in on a cane and I walked out changed! After ankle surgery, five years of walking with a cane (and a subsequent psoriatic arthritis diagnosis), I was in a lot of physical and emotional pain. However, I set the intention to reconnect to my body in a loving and supportive environment. Enter Kara! She is a highly skilled, intuitive and compassionate instructor. Even though I’m new to Pilates, I always feel comfortable asking questions and know that each session will be customized to my particular needs. Further, I’m regaining strength and flexibility…and I’m no longer on a cane. Leaving the studio I always feel nurtured, invigorated, taller and more optimistic about my body and my health. Kara is a gift to the planet and I’m so glad I found her! 💛💛💛

The moment you step into the studio, you are filled with ease, and warmth! Relaxing is the keep word, Kara is a skilled, passionate and caring instructor. Yes you will break into a sweat and you will feel your body in ways that you know is invigorating! For a first timer like myself it can feel intimidating but not here! I feel great and realized my body is far more flexible and stronger than expected! Has helped my lower back issues and shoulder pain! Highly recommend! Thank you 😊

I have practiced Pilates with Kara for more than 15 years. She is a caring, detail-oriented, talented teacher with a deep understanding of the body. Kara guided me through two pregnancies, helping me get my abs back after each birth. Under her watchful instruction, I have gained strong muscles and a healthy spine and posture. Every session with Kara leaves me renewed and vibrant. She is, simply, the best.

I have been fortunate to have worked with Kara for years. She is an excellent, talented and engaged instructor. Her knowledge of classical pilates goes beyond the exercises and into deep knowledge of the body and how to make the system work for each individual client. I highly recommend Brooklyn Pilates Project.

I've been doing pilates for more than 15 years, and Kara is far and away my favorite instructor. She's a fantastic and patient teacher who really cares about her students. In the nearly 5 years we've worked together, she's consistently pushed me to get stronger while never making me feel bad about my limitations. I would travel across NYC (and have!) to take a class with her.

I have worked with Kara for years and my Pilates skills and physical health have benefited enormously from her teaching. She is an extremely knowledgeable, patient and creative teacher. I can expect each session to cover the basics but also offer exercises and routines that are engaging and challenging.
Kara is particularly skilled at tailoring a class to my individual needs whether due to a physical challenge or a particular goal. Always positive she keeps things moving and ties together all aspects of every workout.
I can’t say enough about how much I have enjoyed working with her or how she has helped me to stay in shape and physically/mentally balanced.

I am stronger (and taller) thanks to Kara, my wise, warm and very encouraging pilates instructor! Her understanding of the body's experience as a dancer (finding form and strength) and mother (preventing injury and finding relief and recovery) is comprehensive. And the new space provides a very luxe and calming escape from all the things.

Tucked in behind an (absolutely terrific) yoga studio, Abaya, Brooklyn Pilates Project is wonderful--Kara and Jen are great no matter what level you're at. I'm a beginner and I've learned an enormous amount after just a few lessons. Uncrowded, relaxing, beautiful space. Enter through Abaya Yoga on 9th st. right across from the Lowe's parking lot.
