The below review is a reflection of my experience with this facility a few years ago, there has been almost a complete staff turnover, interior renovations, schedule changes, and programs shut down and launched since then. It's a very different place now. Although I enjoyed most of my time at Burn Kickboxing I am updating my star rating to reflect the more recent (2025) experience I had with them. I am no longer a member because it was time for me to move on in my fitness journey.
2021 Review:
I can't imagine spending my mornings anywhere else, and knowing a trainer is waiting for me at the door makes showing up before sunrise an easy task. I will admit, it comes with a luxury price tag, but the confidence alone is more than worth it. The staff members are easy to contact and keep an open line of communication. Burn Kickboxing has improved my mental and physical health more than I ever could've thought.

This place is fantastic. The facility is beautiful and very clean. The instructors are top notch. And, I love that they offer more than just strictly kickboxing. Classes are offered throughout the day and even on the weekends to accommodate almost any schedule.

This is a fun place to feel at home and get healthy! There are many classes from Bag Blitz-just kickboxing, strength training, and combo classes for high intensity workouts, as well as classes that are low impact! They even have a kids program so the kiddos can stay active and healthy!

I signed up for the six week shred at Burn kickboxing after attending the orientation with my wife. I didnβt know what to expect at first but Iβve loved every minute of it. Each coach brings their own style and flavor to the classes. The best part for me has been the team like atmosphere of group workouts. There is nothing like going through the grind with others. I joined the Burn Kickboxing 6 Week Shred Challenge in May. During the course of the 6 weeks, I trained with various coaches. They are ALL very encouraging and engaging. I always felt welcomed. The workout sessions were a little challenging, but modifications were provided. It is a great team and a great experience!

No matter your age or fitness level, Burn has a place for you. It's been over 5 years since I did any work outs, and over 10 since they were serious and the coaches and class designs made me feel like I could jump back in without shame, only personal success.
My son loves it here, my coworkers love coming, and I have come to love it too.
I've seen all ages, sexes, races and fitness levels come in and work how they wanted and leave feeling good about.

As apart of the 6 week summer shred program, my experience was absolutely amazing! The coaches were all extremely supportive, kind, and attentive. The music and atmosphere was so much fun and it felt like I was apart of their family! They keep you engaged even after a class through their Facebook group. It gives you a chance to learn a bit more about the coaches and establish a better relationship if youβd like. Overall I highly recommend burn kickboxing to anyone regardless of fitness level. Location & Atmosphere
The space itself is bright, colorful, and welcoming. Depending on which side of the building youβre on, thereβs a lot of natural sunlight β which makes the environment feel energetic and motivating. The overall vibe is modern and upbeat.
Instructors & Class Experience
Classes vary depending on the instructor. Two instructors that stood out to me were Kim and Mayleelani (apologies if the spelling is off). Both took time to clearly explain each movement and model the exercises in real time. Their style felt supportive and thoughtful, especially for those new to certain movements or routines.
On the flip side, some instructors tend to shout over the music, which can get very loud β making the instructions hard to follow. In those moments, the pacing can feel rushed, which limits your ability to really try or learn the movement. It would be helpful if Burn offered more transparency about class types or instructor styles ahead of time so attendees know what theyβre walking into.
Workout Format & Fitness Benefits
I mostly attended Burn and Forever Fit classes, often back-to-back (each about 45 minutes). The sessions fly by and are definitely rigorous. Expect a solid mix of cardio, light core/strength work, and kickboxing combos (punches and kicks).
While the technique isnβt as structured as what Iβve experienced at Muay Thai gyms, Burn is great for building endurance and pushing your limits in a fun, low-pressure environment. Thereβs little to no sparring, but occasional partner work β not my favorite, but the people here are generally kind and encouraging.
Community & Inclusivity
One thing I appreciated was the diversity of members. The gym includes people of various ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels. It feels like an inclusive space where everyone is welcomed and supported.
Cleanliness & Equipment
The facility is visibly clean, but as someone whoβs a bit of a germaphobe, I did notice that I rarely saw the bags or floors being sanitized, especially since I mostly attended evening classes. Itβd be nice to know how frequently cleaning happens between sessions.
Lockers, Bathrooms, & Scheduling
The lockers are small but functional. The bathrooms are compact yet never felt overcrowded. Signing up for classes through the Zen app was straightforward, though popular time slots fill quickly. I recommend checking back closer to class times, as spots often open up last minute.
Accountability & Structure
To complete the program, you need to attend 16 classes in 6 weeks (roughly 3 per week) or risk being charged $200. I personally appreciated this as a way to stay accountable and build routine β I usually aimed for 4 classes weekly.
Weekend Class Options
My only real scheduling frustration was the limited weekend classes, which are typically early in the morning. I prefer to keep my weekends relaxed, so I didnβt attend those, but I wish there were more midday or afternoon options on Saturdays and Sundays.

Final Thoughts
Burn Kickboxing was a great jumpstart to my fitness journey, especially at the intro price of $1 for six weeks. The program helped me get more consistent with my workouts, and the instructors are generally motivating and kind. If I could change anything, Iβd ask for:

β’ Expanded weekend availability
Still, itβs a solid option for people looking to build endurance, stay active, and be part of an uplifting fitness community.

When my gym closed due to COVID, I looked in the local area for a gym with kickboxing. I went to a few classes at different places, but none of them were of interest to me. Burn Kickboxing in North Syracuse was offering a month for free so I thought Iβd try it out. Needless to say I loved it right from the beginning. I am now a member and have been since January of 2024. The staff are all friendly, professional and welcoming. They offer morning and evening classes which is very convenient. Iβm retired so I love the morning classes. No others places compare. It is like one big family.

I have been a Burn member for over a year now, and I can honestly say that there is never a dull moment. From the first time I walked in the door, I felt welcomed and a like part of the family, without the intense pressure to join that I had experienced at other places. I love the member diversity (across all categories) in each class I attend, and how everyone is valued as an equal regardless of age, skill level, gender, etc. In addition, as a night RN with a crazy work schedule, I love the availability of multiple class times seven days a week, and the fact that no two classes are alike. While there are a lot of things to choose from, my favorite thing about Burn is the infectious energy that all of the instructors have! They get on that mic and literally make you want to give it your all!

Super friendly staff and revolving workouts always a little different each time. There are a variety of components and alternatives for easier options. The combinations are a bit tricky to keep up with sometimes. Overall definitely a strong workout. I'm pretty sedentary and have been burning about 250-310 cal per 45m workout. The cost isn't too bad either. It comes out to around $130 per month unlimited classes.

I'm not a fan of exercise but it is a necessary evil. I'm so glad I chose BURN. Class themes vary week to week as well as personalized by each instructor leading class. Never a dull moment! After completing an Ironman, I needed a different workout as I was done with swimming, biking and running. I tried several local gyms and landed at Burn Kickboxing. What an amazing place! A variety of class times, trainers and workouts. Every class is different as each trainer plans their workouts. My favorite part is no judgment from anyone, you do you; workout at your pace with what youβre comfortable doing. After 6 months, Iβm doing hard things, things I didnβt think I was capable of doing- burpees, push-up, working with heavier weights. Hands down, the BEST gym Iβve ever attended! Burn has a great team of amazingly talented, kind, and motivating instructors in addition to tons of equipment that we get to incorporate weekly. I was worried when all gyms shut down last year, but within a week Burn had a plan and the team was back to providing us with great home workouts. While I feel at home in-studio, I love that I can still take classes virtually or on-demand. The only negative that I can think of is that I didnβt get my start kickboxing here!

Very well equipped facility and an equally well trained staff offering varied lesson plans each week to train the entire person. Classes and instructors work well for "newbies" as well those wanting an advanced level. Bags, weights, resistance bands, weighted balls, bosu and battle ropes all available. Unfortunately, the owner thinks he was the only person affected by the pandemic. Now that they are open, they have less than half the amount of classes, you can only sign up for 2 a week, and there are NO "over 50" classes currently, although they are sure taking my money. You can still come to a class and just "do what you can", but that's demoralizing, and with such a high-energy workout, makes you not want to be there. That's WHY there are separate classes! I really liked going here prior to the shutdown, but as soon as my contract runs out I won't be back.

In each class the trainers will help you with your technique and any modifications you might need. Thereβs always a modification! Burn kickboxing has become a way of life and the friends I have made with the trainers and the members is a forever thing. While more expensive than your average "gym" this is an exceptional place. The staff, trainers and clients are beyond amazing in terms of their enthusiasm, passion and level of support. On top of that an awesome work out in an uplifting and supportive place. They are huge on body positivity and developing strength (inner and outer). The class was high intensity from the start. A great cardio workout! Youβll definitely sweat. Staff was super friendly too! As someone with a background in kickboxing I was able to jump right in. It may have been a little confusing for a first timer. They have do have lots of instructors walking around to help if you donβt know what to do, but it may have been helpful for someone new if they had explained the punches a little bit before each round. Overall great gym and I will go back next time we come to Syracuse.

My husband and I have been coming to Burn Kickboxing for a few months and it has so positively impacted our lives! This place is like nothing we've ever experienced in our lives! We've lost weight, gained strength, improved our balance, met friends, changed our eating habits, had laughs and have never failed to leave feeling better physically and mentally than when we came through the doors! I LOVE Burn kickboxing...They all treat you like family. Everyone is genuinely friendly and up beat. Before I started Burn, I had three surgeries on my right shoulder and one on my left. My left is doing great and has recovered nicely. Not so lucky with my right, I have a frozen shoulder. I voiced my concerns about my shoulder and I was told not to worry, we will show you a motification were you need it. Let me tell you. Right on. I appreciate all the teachers and their partner, they truely look out for each persons well being. Its all in the communication and everyone at Burn is Awesome at it. One more thing..The most important one. From the moment you walk through the door, NOT ever did I feel pressured to join. I was welcomed with open arms with honesty and kindness.

I love this place. I joined at a discounted rate, but I'm already planning on getting the full membership once it's done. It's a great environment to meet new people, learn new moves and workout plans and they even help get me on track with my nutrition. What can I say about "Burn" ?
ALOT that's for sure!!
It's now been two weeks that I've been going with a total of 6 days done. I laughed when I saw their add for the Fit over 50 class, as I said ya right. I've rebounded from cancer and now dealing with other health issues BUT needless to say dispite all this I joined and at age 68 I can say they are right. You can be fit at any age π€
Burn Kickboxing was a God send in my life! The staff as a whole are the most compassionate, hands on group of people that I've ever experienced. They genuinely care about you and walk with you every step of the way. They are the biggest encouragers ever and their energy infectious.
If you're on the fence about whether to go or not just stop in and test the waters and once you're in you will be hooked(in a good way).

Can not say enough about them. It has been years since I have been motivated to participate in any type of exercise program. UNTIL NOW. The staff and members at this location make it enjoyable to show up several times throughout the week and sweat for an hour with them. I am over 50 years old and the routines are geared towards my aging body. Classes vary throughout the day and each instructor motivates everyone there. Great place and Great staff!!

Of all the gyms, exercise programs and classes I've taken Burn by far is the best! The price is comparable to any other program but what I get for what I pay is priceless! Support from trainers, staff, fellow workout buddies and the sense of accomplishment after every class. I love hitting the mats just to see what they will challenge me with next!

I absolutely love this place. I was never the type of person to be motivated to go to the gym. I never really liked working out, but just did it for the feeling you have after a good workout. After going to Burn, I now love my workouts! Each class is different and each week focuses on different workouts. They are so much fun and the trainers are so motivational. I just started here and it has been amazing. I am not very athletic or into fitness but have tried different things in the past to get myself into fitness (boot camp, CrossFit, etc) and this is by far my fave!!! The instructors are all great and there is always a 2nd instructor on the floor to help with form. Great atmosphere. There is also a huge support system here with texts, phone calls, nutrition planning, the list goes on. You really get a lot of bang for your buck!

I was frustrated and tired of being tired. I seen an advertisement for Burn on Facebook and decided to give it a try. It was the best decision I have made in a long time. The instructors are amazing, the music is energizing, the workouts are tough but I feel so good after my 6am workouts!!!!! I can feel muscle now! I am losing weight and gaining confidence. I can do push ups and burpees. I love the feeling of kicking the bags! I have made friends in the classes that help push me when I feel weak. And the space is so clean!!!!!!!!!!!

This is like no other. The fact that I see all sizes & shapes in the classes & no one judges, is awesome. I have done gyms & boot camps & got nowhere, I quit but here the classes are fun & go by so fast. Not only am I loosing weight but I'm building muscle & becoming a better me.
