This is my home Y. It is small and lacks amenities and needs more evening classes. But the staff are wonderful and the facilities are clean and well kept. I love this Y.

Mr Byrd (the director)was supper understanding to my needs & willing to help me the way I needed. It was refreshing to see someone actually care and want to help. Thank you YMCA. 💪

Lack of any organization lately. Classes never updated on web app. Old classes still listed to sign up for that have been cancelled.

The weight lifting spaces were pretty big and very clean and organized. The staff were very nice and welcoming. The lifting spaces had free weights and lots of cable machines. Only thing they could improve is the amount of squat racks as there is only one, but there were many benches and lots of dumbbells. Overall, great Y!

So been going to this place since February and I have had such highs and really bad lows at this YMCA. I would say my main issue has been staff and lack of professionalism and courtesy at times, not to mention being thoughtful. There are some that really strive for amazing customer service there but others really could care less. My last two experiences at the Y have had me questioning the training that staff receive. I was really badly hurt during a class one evening that took me out of the gym for 2 weeks, in that whole time away the instructor who has my contact information never once reached out to see if I was okay or how I was doing, that really made me wonder if I was just another number there, not a valued customer; but then you have the Zumba instructors like Elaine that care about her class both inside and outside of the classroom. Her class has been so amazing and challenging and fun. She doesn't have an attitude , does take suggestions and sometimes criticisms seriously; but all and all cares. The Y is very clean ... locker rooms and workout areas. The prices of classes are great. I just wish the professionalism and customer service of all staff could be bumped up so much more.

Modern clean facility with a fantastic staff. The group exercise classes are diverse (Spin, Yoga, Zumba, etc), motivating, and fun. The pool and aquatics program is located at the Sch High School.

The Schenectady Y is also focused on supporting the community through Youth Development and Social Responsibility.

This new YMCA here at Center City is bit smaller than the old YMCA located down the street. It doesn't have an indoor pool, or a elevated track in the gym like what the old Y had. It also does not have a indoor racquetball court like what the old Y had.
The good thing with the new Y, if you want to go in a steam room there, it is included with the membership, but at the old Y, if you wanted to go in a steam room there, a separate membership would be required, which would cost alot more (way too expensive). The gym at the new Y is bigger then the one at the old Y, with a NCAA-style basketball court.
The young lady who runs the exercise room at the new Y, is nice and very friendly. The beat of the music that they play in a separate room that has bikes, keeps me moving, like if I want to dance to it.

I used to work upstairs so it was very convenient. It's smaller then most gyms in the area but very nice equipment. No pool in this location.

Lifting equipment is in good shape but there isn't much of it -- one power rack, for instance. The people who work there are nice enough, but perhaps too nice; they won't confront the gym hogs, so good luck if someone's on the machine you need for an hour.
