Signed my 4 year old up for basketball and i must have not read the description correctly along with a few other people who were also baffled that the kids basketball lessons were only a total of THREE 30 minute lessons for $80 (non member) $40 (member) which i think is insane for kids to throw a ball back and forth to eachother for 30 minutes. Please make sure you read the description before signing your son for basketball here!!!!

If you plan on going to playing basketball here in one of their 2 main basketball gyms trust me do not. Pickle ball is played on the courts every day during the week. I must add that they have a back gym that is a terrible basketball court but would be perfect for a pickle ball court. I’m also going to add that they have a pickle ball court outside that is not in use. This upsets me because it is a waste of my subscription to the ymca and time out of my day.

E-gym, sauna, and additional facilities are all great. I’m not sure why somebody on here is complaining about making space for the e-gym, get with the times, it’s been a motivator for me. I also see people complaining about pickleball availability but that’s because of popular demand, if anything the youth teenagers suffer more from pickleball taking away from the basketball courts compared to other ymca I’ve seen. Can’t please everybody, this ymca does a pretty good job trying though! Updated from 4 to 5 star!

The remodel which is still ongoing is horrible. Not sure who the clientele is we are going for. I’ve been a member for years but thinking about going elsewhere. The ellipticals and treadmills are so tight and less to make room for E gym ?? And no more cable on the TVs. And not even sure what half the renovations were for.

Honestly, it's becoming ridiculous and frustrating with this pickle ball in this location. You might as well take down the YMCA SIGN and replace it with Pickle Ball Hub or something. Every time we try to go use the BASKETBALL COURT for basketball πŸ€ it's being used for pickle ball. I'm sure there's standards, schedules, and rules for the gym use at this location. Obviously, management chose not to abid by it, they choose to please certain group of members over others. Every time u do this, u putting these kids out in the streets to do bad things. This should be a place for kids to gather and play sports. The funny thing is they are doing construction in the premises and not everything is available. They actually have the nerve to increase the membership prices.

The absolute WORST place for pickleball. Add more times. If you can get to another gym or Y get there. This one you’ll wait over an hour to play one game and you’ll definitely have to stand the bench is so full. I’m not used to it since impact there is 12 courts vs 2. Here they used to have Saturday until 11am now until 9am? Used to have Friday until 4:30pm now 2. If you like playing in the morning they only have newbie level, since they keep dumping people in with a class with zero more pickleball times. The game you waited 1+ hour for is over in 2 minutes. The staff is rude and you have to put up and take down your own nets… Pretty soon they’ll have nothing and angry pitch forks.

I love the Southern Saratoga Clifton Park YMCA because it has fancier and luxurious showers, has a loft and balcony upstairs for the track, it's luxurious and fancier, and has privacy in the pool area and locker room area.

They need more pickleball times. They barely have any good times. It’s always mobbed and you have to wait 40-60 minutes to play one game. It has the most crowded pickleball of any location I’ve ever been to. At true pickleball or impact you’re on the court the whole time I’m not used to waiting so long. They do not have it under control with enough times. People are super rude and condescending to you, there is a hostile energy here. This is definitely not the spot to go if you like pickleball.

They don’t close the basketball on time and the basketball players miss a shot (for example) and it flies onto the court and makes it dangerous for the pickleball players who could trip and fall. I’ve seen one hit a woman in the back, she was a good sport but I would’ve been upset. You have to build and take down the nets when you’re paying to play here they treat you like an unpaid employee.

The staff is nice. I wish they'd enforce the pool rules. At least the "shower before swimming" and "wear proper swim attire" rules. The pool would be cleaner just because of these issues. The weight and aerobic areas are nice. Locker room needs improvement, but they're working on renovations.

The women Pat at YMCA was Extremely rude. She was yelling and screaming at me in front of all the other customers in the pool. She said:" Today I am the boss, I control here....."

A gentlemen who was in the pool and watched the whole thing even told me " this is ridiculous and absolutely discriminatory. You should complain to their manager."

I have been taking my 6 year old daughter to the same swimming pool regularly in the past 3 months or so. She can swim on her own and doesn't need to wear her life jacket for a couple of months and never ever had any issues. Nobody ever asked her to wear a life jacket for the past two months.

This morning, while we were in the swimming pool, one of the lifeguards came to ask me to put on a life jacket on her which I explained was unnecessary as my daughter has been shown to be capable and I am with her all the time for safety. The process then followed by other lifeguards involved, one of the lady guards was even staring at me and my daughter for 10 minutes, until she eventually "caught" a concern while my daughter was practicing floating on her own. Then Pat came in and started yelling at me and ask me to leave. She didn't let me talk or explain and threatened to call police.

My daughter was scared into tears and rushed out of the facility.

YMCA southern saratoga: 1) disrespectful words, 2) unprofessional conduct, and 3) discriminatory behavior.

This is a great YMCA! The cardio room and the weights area are very nice and clean. They provide spray bottles for everyone to clean their station when they are not using it. Very nice machines and all of them work perfectly. Staff members are very nice and kind. Yoga classes and Spin classes are very good and there are multiple classes to choose from every day. The pool is sometimes empty and sometimes crowded but is very nice and has lots of great things like a hot tub, sauna, steam room, and other swimming equipment to help unexperienced swimmers! They also take great care of children and my child is always happy. Lots of options for exercises and lots of different features. The classes always have equipment if you don't bring your own and all of the classes are really good and the instructors are very well qualified. Overall, amazing YMCA! The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is because the men's locker room smells very bad.

It is a mixed bag experience at Clifton Park YMCA. In terms of using the poll with 6~17 year old boys, it is very much unfriendly. Be specific, they make the rules that the boys will not have a proper change room and shower place. Kids are not allowed in men's locker room, with the excuse of "some one are not feeling comfortable with teenagers around in the locker room" ( as of Aug 2022). The boys locker room was close during summer time 2022. Starting from Sept 2022, they close the boys locker room from 2PM to facility close. Thus, the only way to make use of the locker room is during the school time. The excuse for closing the boys locker room is "due to some improper behaviors of young members, the locker room is closed from 2pm to...." ( Not per word exact, as of Sept 2022). It is a clear management failure. They managed in a way to punish everyone who use the locker room. If you have boys, and are planning to use the boys locker room and shower, do your self a favor to find an alternative facility if possible.

Been coming for 2 years all during Covid when it was super quiet. Mask mandate in effect - every week students playing ball (10-15) with no masks on for an hour. Told desk. They tell them to put them on and as soon as they leave the kids pull them down again. Called and left message with executive director. See if that does anything. Don’t go to the y to get Covid.

Not exactly the best CDYMCA. Used the weights, allowed kids and high school kids to wrestle in the Free Weight area, while the employees sat and talked for 45minutes. Seemed a little to choatic for a Ymca. Mens locker room were clean but small. Front desk was friendly. Space wise it was small.
Truthfully I am happy this was a one time visit. Needs to be better with managing kids.

This YMCA is pretty good. They have a lot of wondeful qualities with a lot of things to do. Especially for families. My kids love it here. There is a trainer upstairs, Mike Rotolo, who is amazing! He is very patient and meets each member at their level. However they've got a triathlon "coach" who is the exact opposite. He is arrogant, rude, and completely disrespectful to some of the members he allegedly trains. In terms of the physical property, it is relatively clean with an exception to the men's locker room which constantly smells like urine. I would recommend this YMCA but if you want triathlon training, go somewhere else!

Its been 1 yr.& several mos. here at Capital District YMCA-Southern Sarattoga Branch. Orders from neurologist with spine suffering, neuropathpy & fibromyilgia. Ive worked with trainers but Lisa has helped me. Ive worked with others but she has the experience, patience, & understands. She introduced me to the "Precor" which I don't see anyone using but has helped me. Whenever Ive got questions or issues she helps. I hope YMCA realize. your need there! A pretty reasonable location for a contra dance.

Lots of parking, not too far to the front door. A long walk to the actual dance venue (a gym). The men's room is a long way from the venue; women have it much better.

For a gym, the place has pretty good acoustics aided, luckily, by a discreetly operated sound system (which means, in this case, not so loud that a giant echo results). The lighting is good, for a gym. The floor is a bit sticky to my taste, but not badly so.

Clean.

I wonder whether there is a package deal available: swim, dance, and shower!

Realistically if your in to body building this place trumps planet fitness 100%. Sauna/steam room shaving cream on tap. olympic size swimming pool and hot tub #wouldntgointhatthingifitwasthecuretocancer Full track court and massive weight room with every machine available you could think of (besides a lat pull machine). 50 bucks a month is def worth it. They gave me a free week to try it out. Planet fitness is far from this place and for 30 dollars more well worth. Great parking and trail access.

Swim classes were restructured last year but none of the staff seemed to be aware. We called to ask which class would work for our kids, but the receptionist couldn't answer our questions. When we showed up for classes, coaches were always confused about why we were there. They scrambled to find a different staff member for the class each week, although we signed up 1-2 months prior. Eventually, one of the coaches rudely told us we signed up for the wrong class. There was little to no information online where we signed up. They directed us back to the receptionist who still knew nothing about the classes. My kids and the other family they signed up with are not returning this year. At least they'll be able to hear their new coach since they won't be screaming over the techno music from the other excersize class that was using the pool at the same time.

Always enjoy going to the Y. My only complaint is there doesn't seem to be enough parking space on Saturday mornings. It's crowded other days too but Saturday a m. seems the worst. Maybe there's too much going on on a Saturday morning at the Y
I don't think enough thought has been put into scheduling events. All parking lots are full. Drive around for 15 min before you can find a spot. Very often I just give up and leave

The YMCA is supposed to be non for profit yet anytime a member who btw pays 10X what any other gym in the area is paying wants to use their facilities they are rented out. This place does not care about its members only money. Only reason I give this two stars instead of 1 is because the facilities are nice but why wouldn't they be when we pay astronomically high monthly fees to not be able to ever use the place. Highly recommend get a membership elsewhere if you are looking

Source: Google

Scott Buczynski

β˜… 3

These are my opinions based on personal experience and observations: Have memberships to YMCA and pf. The southern saratoga y men's locker room has a stench of urine every day. The gym is just as clean as you would expect any other public facility that doesn't have a cleaning crew. If you use the Jacuzzi, you better shower with a good soap, I wonder how often they change the water. Saratoga ymca water is clear, their entire facility is beautiful. southern saratoga is nasty. The joke with some of the patrons is you better rinse off quickly or your skin will fall off.
Language: oh boy. I don't want to get started. The first month I was there, they ejected people on the basketball court for foul language. After a year, I see they only enforce the rules with "some people"
Parking lot: the fire lane should just be removed, this lane is an accident waiting to happen. Patrons and workers stage their cars here very often. At night kids often run out of the gym, through these cars and if you are driving, I hope you are paying attention. Oh and patrons, one way means one way.
What's good: I wish I were a kid and my mom and dad had a family membership.
What's bad: price, cleanliness and rule enforcement for all rather than some.
What's terrible: I'm going to keep paying for multiple memberships.

The facility is great. However, my son attended summer camp here a few summers ago and was bullied relentlessly by a couple of boys. He and I both told the counselor and camp director but nothing was done. It was a frightening, difficult experience for him, especially since he hadn't been bullied in his school, where violent behavior isn't tolerated. The next summer, I sent him to the Glenville YMCA, which is a smaller facility, but has much more attentive staff. He enjoyed his 2 summers at Glenville.

This place saw a lot of my childhood, from baby to swimming lessons to after school programs to snow days to adulthood. Overall, great facilities. Only issue is they don't clean the pool and hot tub as often as they should so now I use the YMCA on West ave in Saratoga Springs.

I see the comments people leave and complain about it smelling like urine and being crowded with kids, but after all it is a gym. People do sweat and the YMCA is a place designed to keep kids out of trouble and in a safe environment. Staff is usually pretty friendly and makes sure that everyone gets to play even if the guns are crowded (won't allow full court games or same teams twice if others are waiting to play) and treat everyone fairly. Staff do a good job of keeping the facility clean as well. Never used the pool but I've never heard anyone complain of it. 4/5 for me.
