Recently opened an ultimate membership at this location on the basis of the considerate guest policy they had in place which was very convenient for couples trying to further their fitness together. Upon my arrival they are displaying a sign at all Buffalo area catalyst location that no guests are longer permitted to workout. They had stated a warning was sent out, but we received no notification of this change and received no prior warning. I know this is a gym chain, so slimy/predatory business practices are not surprising given most commercial gyms seem to run like this. However, I thought that catalyst held itself to a higher standard. It feels dishonest to sell a year long contract under guise of allowing one guest at all times, and then two weeks later removing one of the major selling points of the membership, after locking members in a contract. Do better

This place is nothing but a scam. I had a gift certificate that stated I get 3 months free of the Platinum membership. They told me I had to pay $45 and I would get 4 months free. Got a bill a month later stating I already will owe $. Called and the lady at the desk said she will see what they can do and will call me back because the girl who said I get 4 month is wrong. I stated I wanted a call back to discuss before I cancel. I never got a call back. I tried to cancel and the lady on the phone says I need a 30 day notice when I told them last month if they couldn't do anything I wanted to cancel it. They said my gift certificate went towards 2 months of dues and the rest covered a month but I paid for the first month just for them to take it from the certificate. The lady on the phone was rude and refused to help and said they are taking the $ from my bank account even though they were supposed to call me last month before canceling. I will be filing complaints with the BBB and Attorney General. This place is a scam. The lady on the phone also claimed i had a lower plan than what I was paying for.

Charging me extra each month without telling me, when asked about it they "don't know why" or feed me some other lie every time. Weird. Also staff is extremely disrespectful when I'm super nice to them.... wow.

Just rejoined Catalyst when I saw the new location opened up!
Tim was the best and gave me a whole tour of the new facility, answered any questions I had , and genuinely seemed like he wanted to help and was happy to be there! I was ready to sign up right away because of him.
Place was VERY busy but with the great selection of machines and how many there are, didn’t have to wait at all!
Great new location, I’m already excited to come back for my next workout!
I really hope the owners read this so they know how big of an asset Tim is to this location and to Catalyst as a whole!

Honestly extremely disappointed with the overall member experience. Entered the gym one day and could not pass through the turnstile. Was informed Amy was making everyone upgrade to new pricing, okay fine.
But then to see the big push is the "up-charge" amenities is disappointing. The men's bathroom is absolutely disgusting. The urinals have dried urine stains and pubic hair like l've never seen on a urinal before.
Then the wall underneath the hand dryer has never been wiped and is coated with a dark slime. Half the soap dispensers are empty. Sure the equipment may be state of the art but let's work on the basics. Same thing happened when catalyst bought the original Best Fitness eggert location. The cleanliness level instantly degraded. Staff standing around the front desk socializing instead of working. It’s like dejavu. Took a survey last week and got a response email saying they’d look into the bathroom situation, well that did not happen.

Catalyst did an amazing job with this remodel. You can tell they put a lot of thought into each detail! The staff at this location are also so kind (especially Ciera, she’s the biggest sweetheart). Overall the experience I’ve had at this gym has made it so much easier for me to want to reach my fitness goals. I’d highly recommend checking it out!

New billing beware !! Been going here for years, never had an issue
Recently they "changed their membership and billing" and forgot to mention it's a 12 month contract. I signed up and prepaid for 3 months. I have always done this, today I received an email with this contract (which I was never explained to and or signed) that stated I would be paying monthly for 12 months. I called and got no help, greedy people. Poorly trained. Wasted my time, was told I can pay an extra $5 a month for month to month (which I was on before) be aware on these fun new tactics.

Nice gym but Sauna isn’t that hot at all. I was in there three times already and you don’t even sweat lol. Door isn’t sealed properly so makes it not as hot. Also no scale or benches in locker room to sit to put shoes on or anything.
*had to come back and change my review to five stars. Amazing gym. The sauna is better and I love the recovery room. Love how they are still adding things and trying to meet their customers needs.

I really love the location, and the staff is awesome and professional. I'd go as far as saying, improving my experience and willingness to leave for a new gym.
I really like the rec room. Infared sauna, red light therapy, tanning, and massage chairs. Very updated, but maybe the chandeliers were over the top and unnecessary, lol... give us more amenities or added benefits or better machines or cheaper membership prices instead.
I've been a member for a long time (before Covid) and have tried nearly all locations over the years. I appreciate the real difference made.
I was probably only a few months away from leaving before they announced the opening of this location. The opening has helped pull from other locations with too much foot traffic... where working out without waiting for a machine was not an option. Now I can get a work out in without issue most days!

I've been going to the wherle location and stopped by the colvin location a few times. It's very pretty. The posing room isn't the best. If you ever walking into a art gallery or house of illusion it's basically that. No benches in the locker rooms 6 there are plenty of lockers. The sauna is nice I have not tired the infrared sauna yet. I really enjoyed the super machines. It allows me to do the same workout at a higher intensity. I already came back a few times. Though with the distance of the location this will not be my permanent gym. The gym location is very open so you can see everyone and everything. Be mindful of influences as this location was made for them. But honestly.8/10 gym

Last week, I visited the Colvin Catalyst location for the first time. As a previous member of Jada Blitz Fitness, I decided to take a look at some of the other locations as promised to me through an instagram post published by Catalyst on April 4th. I have to say, I was pretty impressed. I was excited to come back this week again to the same location when I was halted at the entrance. Two extremely rude employees told me, despite the statement that Catalyst Fitness’s instagram had published, Jada Blitz members were not allowed at this location. They did not tell me this kindly or with any sympathy, despite my 25 minute drive, and told me I could buy a membership, a day pass, or could leave. I could not be more disappointed with the communication on every level with Catalyst Fitness. The staff at Jada Blitz (specifically the front desk) I have never had a problem with. The gentleman who worked nights at Jada Blitz always greeted me with a smile and made small talk if I decided to order a shake after. My second visit to Catalyst and I am already being brought here to complain about disrespect. Something needs to change.

I’ve been a proud and loyal member at Jada Blitz Fitness for the last 2.5 years—and for good reason. The environment, staff, and culture there have always made me feel welcome, respected, and appreciated as a member. The gym wasn’t just a facility to work out in—it was a community. Recently, Jada Blitz was acquired by Catalyst Fitness, and all Jada members were told we could either transfer our membership over to Catalyst or cancel entirely. We were also told we’d have access to all Catalyst locations, free of charge, until June 4th, so that we could check them out and decide if we wanted to make the switch.
I took that opportunity and began checking out the Catalyst Fitness on Colvin. The gym itself seemed promising—nice machines, a good layout, and a lot of potential. I had been going for the last few days without issue, walking in and simply stating I was a Jada Blitz member (as advised). Everything seemed fine—until today.
I walked in like I had the previous few days and told them I was a Jada member. This time, I was stopped by the one manager with blonde hair and an employee named Kylie. There was no hello, no polite greeting—just a blunt, “You can’t come in unless you pay $20 or upgrade your membership.” Very rude and completely unprofessional.
I politely asked what changed, since I had already been there multiple times that week. They told me they changed the rules last night, with zero communication to members. When I asked if an email had been sent out to inform us, Kylie responded sarcastically, “Yeah, I’m not in charge of that.” very disrespectfully. I calmly asked if I could at least get my workout in since I was already there and hadn’t been notified, and was told flatly, “If you don’t pay, you have to leave.”
To make things worse, I later spoke with a friend—also a Jada member—who visited the Colvin location that same day and was met with the same exact treatment. He was also denied entry despite previously being told Jada members had access. He ended up buying a day pass, only to be met with terrible service inside the gym. He mentioned trying to use a leg press machine and it was jammed so he told the staff and they brushed him off and told him there was no issues and he was wrong in a very rude manner. When he temporarily brought a gym bag onto the floor to change his squat shoes, a staff member came up to him and once again rudely told him to move it. He told me his whole experience was hostile and uncomfortable - Not the kind of energy you want at a gym.
And this is the sad part: we were both on the verge of switching to Catalyst and even upgrading our memberships. But after today, we’re not just walking away—we’re warning others.
Compare that to Jada Blitz, where I have never once had an issue with the staff. From the very first day I joined, I felt welcomed. The energy was always positive, and the people there truly cared about creating a great environment. Especially one employee in particular named Luke. Luke worked at the front desk and is genuinely one of the nicest people I’ve ever encountered at any gym. Every time I walked in, he’d greet me with a big smile and ask how my day was going—and he meant it. It made Jada feel like more than just a gym. He treated people like family. Those little moments of kindness and consistency matter.
That’s the type of person you want greeting your members—not someone who makes them feel like an inconvenience or a burden.
To Catalyst Fitness (and especially the Colvin location): if you truly want to retain the members you’ve acquired from Jada, train the employees to treat people like they matter. Create a welcoming environment. Right now, you’re not doing that—and you’re going to continue losing good members because of it.
I’ve been a member of Catalyst before, and I left because I didn’t like the culture. After today, I can say not much has changed.
You didn’t just lose one potential member today. You lost two. And I’m sure there will be many more to follow if this is how you treat people.
