I’ll start by saying I love the Chelsea Piers classes, gym, and experience. I think this location has done a great job of integrating into the neighborhood and the co-working space is great. The only reason for my 3 star review is that their membership recruitment process is misleading. I signed up for a “founding membership” in January of 2024 and was told that my “founding membership” rate would lock in indefinitely, but would increase commensurate with club dues. This was not the case, and after a year, my dues were increased to the standard rate, minus $10 (an increase of $50/month). I raised this issue with management and they apologized that I was misinformed. I ultimately decided to stay, but feel very misled and want to let any potential members know what to expect prior to joining.

This gym looks impressive. It's massive, clean, and packed with amenities like saunas and classes. BUT if you’re simply trying to lift, it’s a huge letdown!
For ~$280/month, there’s only ONE set of dumbbells past 60 lbs and ONE of every major machine (one hack squat, one leg extension, one t-bar row, one chest flye, etc.) You’ll spend more time waiting than working out!
I've even asked (multiple times) the front desk about adding more equipment, but it doesn't seem like it's coming. For a gym this big and expensive, that’s unacceptable. Unless you’re here for the classes or perhaps oly lifting, this place just isn’t worth it.

This gym sets the standard. Each visit feels welcoming, with staff who are consistently attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly. The facility is impeccably maintained—I regularly notice team members cleaning, restocking, and ensuring everything is in order. It’s difficult to find a single shortcoming here, and of all the locations I’ve experienced, this one may very well be my favorite.

This gym is absolutely fantastic! It’s spacious clean and has all the best equipment from many top brands such as life fitness concept 2 and hammer strength. The recovery facilities are brilliant as is the cafe. Very helpful front desk team. If I was local I would join this gym

I usually don't write reviews. I've been a founding member since they opened and am extremely happy since joining. I love using the cold plunges and infra red sauna after a workout. I previously toured both Equinox gyms close bye and they were half the size without as many amenities as Chelsea Flatiron. I'm not sure who's writing some of these negative reviews but anytime a machine or amenity needed repair Chelsea Piers was quick to fix asap! Some of these review are completely ridiculous and not true. Do yourself the favor and see/experience the gym for yourself! You'll thank me later!

Nice gym if you just want to take classes and are willing to pay extra for some of them. However, the amount of cable machines is very limited and it's extremely annoying having to waut when you pay this much. Also, in the picture, for the close grip cross cable there is only one in the entire gym and if someone is using as a single cable, there are none.
Also they lock you in for a year, if it was a really good gym, that wouldn't be neccessary.

This place used to be a solid gym but they're way over capacity now. DO NOT SIGN UP! You'll regret it when you're fighting over machines, packed into the sauna like a sardine, or waiting in a 30 minute shower line. When I first joined in September 2024, I was told they were at 80% capacity. They've easily doubled the enrollment in the last 5 months and I continue to see big groups touring the gym every time I go. In short, if you sign up here, get used to going home sweaty and upset. Oh - and the café is never open.

Started out great but they are way over enrolling now. Waited in a 15 person line to shower last night at 8pm. The sauna is always standing room only and you have to wait for just about every workout you want to do. Every day i'm in there i see them giving tours to 20+ people so it doesn't look like they're gonna stop any time soon.

Terrible gym if you want to train. Someone dumped some gear in a nice space and walked away. GM has no clue and no one manages the spaces so its kind of a disaster. Don't join if:
1) You don't like unracking other ppls weight (Who doesn't unrack after 255lb deadlift)
2) You don't like having to pull weight from three different machines to do your set
3) You want to use progressive overload (no small plates or in-between dumbbells)
4) You don't like waiting for that 40lb dumbbell
5) You don't like tripping over equipment left on the floor.
6) You want a sensible layout of equipment.
7) You want a sauna that doesn't smell funky
8) You don't want to be told about equipment that doesn't arrive.
To be clear, there is no one on the floor responsible for keeping things in the right place. It's the same mess at 6am and 8pm.
Tried to talk to the GM about it and some disassembled equipment and she treated me like I was an idiot. Attempted to tell me that the plates on one side of the gym didn't work with the equipment on the other side of the floor even though they were exactly the same.
It's a shame. I was so excited.

So much space for personal workouts/stretching. Equipment is brand new, top of the line and well maintained. Locker rooms are clean and spacious. Amenities (cold plunge, sauna, steam, private meeting rooms) make it an amazing place to spend hours. I like all the classes I’ve tried (strength, yoga, cycling) - very knowledgeable instructors who switch up their class flows. Zero complaints and all the praise!!

I think people giving this place 1 or 2 stars are very unfair. Sure, some treadmills or bikes are out of order here and there, or the steam room was closed for maintenance on a couple occasions since they opened.
However, tell me where you can find a club/gym in a Class A building in Manhattan ( If you think your residential rent is expensive, you don't want to see commercial rents in these buildings ) with this much square footage ( I think it's 40,000 sqft+ ) with the best in class gym equipment, a turf for HIIT and conditioning workouts, dozens of Woodway and regular treads, multiple Peloton bikes ( with free subscription access ), over hundred classes per week, a regular sauna, an infrared Sauna, a steam room, two cold plunges, bathrooms on every floor with no lines, a pilates room, a heated yoga studio, a regular yoga studio and a super cool co-working space that has a canteen serving protein shakes, sandwiches, coffee, salads etc?
So yeah...definitely 5 stars regardless of the very occasional issues.
P.S: I don't work there, I don't know the owners, I don't know the managers and nobody told me to write this review, but this gym delivers tremendous value for what they charge, so hope this helps clarify things for anyone looking to join.

This is a great club don't get me wrong but I hate how they blast music in the co working space. Part of the reason I joined the gym was because of the co-working space.
They blast music while I try to work here. I'm on calls and there is significant background music. Everyone who works here hates it.
The people at the front desk say management tells them to blast it.
Hopefully this gets the attention of management.

I’ve been a member for almost a year and I love this gym! I love the staff at the front desk for both locations, Flat iron and Chelsea. Chelsea is where I started so it feels more like home.
I take advantage of the classes offered. Most teachers do their best to remember your name and help you out through your workout. Amenities are great! The only location that’s had issues is tge Flat iron location which the company tries to fix right away.
Love it so much I’ve had 4 friends sign up.
My only issues have been with the corporate team. The moment I signed up I was given false information and no clarification until 3 months later.(wont get into it) I was promised referral a referral credit after my friend signed up. The credit should be in my account within “2 weeks” then, a month. After the month I waited a month and a half to be safe and nothing.
I then, just kept working out and tried again 3 months since signing up, again nothing! I texted the person that signed me up since he said reach out whenever. Nothing! Saw him the day after giving a tour and didn’t even say anything. I was told he’s no longer with the company. The same thing happened with my second referral I was told a month and didn’t get it. My real issue is just the lack of communication and proper information.

The 930a hot yoga was incredible!!! If you see classes with Danielle P. You must go. She packs in zen in 60min with ( optional) adjustments and opportunities for advanced practitioners while welcoming the brand new ones too. If you like vinyasa that has ashtanga roots and creative but mindful sequencing, you need Danielle's class in your life!!

This location should be improved more.
I took a month break from Chelsea Pier since the swimming pool was in renovation. I came back today to check if this location was better than when it first opened. There was no improvement and has gotten worse. I don’t know about staffs. They are still as attentive as before.
Sauna was not as hot as before, stayed in 155-160. It was 180-190 before. Cold plunge has gotten worse and dirtier than before. I wonder if people take a shower before cold plunge. Dumbbells and other lifting equipment are mediocre. People who workout in this location? Hmm I would give 2/5 since I have encountered with a bunch of uptight people, not like Chelsea location. This location is very different from Chelsea.
Kudos to staffs tho. They keep a high standard of hygiene and great hospitality. However, environment and people are the main reason I will avoid this location.

Huge gym with every piece of equipment you could want. Currently only four full racks (as of 9/6/24) but they’ve said they will be adding a few more as more people join. Given you can usually have two people on a rack at once, I’ve never had to wait for a piece of equipment. Everything is super clean and high quality making for a very pleasant experience.

Huge facility that caters to all people of all fitness levels!
The amenities offered here are top notch compared to other facilities in NYC. Honestly not worrying about bringing a lock already was a great start for my time at this gym.
There's a lot of stuff included in the membership, but the highlights certainly are:
Private Work booths, café, large working/study area, quiet zone, sauna, steam rooms, cold plunges (contrast therapy), post shower toiletries, 4 floors- each with their own focuses on various training disciplines, and a physical connection to the 23rd street subway station.
Besides the long list of services they offer here, one of my checkpoints is if the gym and staff has a good vibe or not.
I'm happy to say that the people here are great! So far fellow members are quite friendly and the staff are a joy to talk to. The maintenance staff are also no joke, they refill the hand towels, shower towels, bathrobes with utmost proficiency. I don't think I ever saw a wet area that wasn't cleaned almost immediately.
Also shout out to Coach Roland for making the fitness journey not as intimidating and his in-depth explanations of the gym's capabilities!
TL;DR: Great environment for post gym recovery, vibes, trainers, and enough amenities where you can spend a whole work day operating there.

It’s an amazingly planned health and training center. The locker rooms are geniusly built and the sauna and showers are beautifuly made too.
The only problem I had is that i bought a one day pass, and because I know nobody who works out there I had to pay the full price which is 100$.
I think it’s way too much. Besides that, loved the place

Nice facility, staff is really nice but it didn’t take long for things to break.
Cold plunges has been broken for over a week, the infrared sauna only has half the heaters working and gets nowhere near the advertised temp, water fountains broken, soap dispensers broken - it’s a disaster.
Workout floor areas get trashed very fast and while I understand much of this comes down to the members in the space respecting everything, it doesn’t seem to sync across the property or doing anything to enforce some sense of culture.
Areas that should be “quiet” are often loud treated like their personal living room.
The equipment offerings are solid. Essentially every piece of equipment you would request from a facility with multiple yoga studios, cycling studio, and Pilates (extra $).
With this gym being new and slower because of the summer, I anticipate more issues to occur and little improvement on fixing the key amenities based on the conversations I’ve had with the members of the staff who have little to no answers.
Shout out to the cleaning crew who work their tails off.

Beautiful new Chelsea Piers location! The cafe and remote working area is grand and library like, with high ceilings and wooden furniture. Downstairs, the locker rooms are grand and spacious, with towels and amenities at every corner. Saw the sauna, steam room, and ice baths. Another floor down, you’re met with a double height turf area for stretching and functional training. Across are multiple full length cable machines. On the same floor are the free weights, with multiple sets and several benches. The area felt spacious even when multiple benches were in use. Around the free weight area are multiple squat racks that are nicely spaced out. There’s also dedicated ab areas with slant boards which is nice - often times they’re awkwardly placed with the free weights in gyms. The cardio and weight cable machines are on the 2nd floor. Cardio machines are all the latest models with wide touch screens and wireless phone charging. The weight cable machines are all new but in a corner and that area probably has the least attention to detail, but maybe could be livened up in the future. My favorite area was the turf on the 2nd floor. The views are amazing and I found myself less on my phone between sets and instead watching the yellow cabs and hustle bustle of the city below. There’s several bench boxes in this area, which are adjustable and have dumbbell sets up to 30 lb neatly stored on the sides. Overall, it stands up strong with the original Chelsea location in terms of size, quantity of equipment, and overall feel good energy inside. It’s high end with luxurious details but still feels like a gym, which is a balance not every luxury gym in NY manages to pull off. Overall, it lives up to the Chelsea Piers name and is well worth the membership!
