Great classes, great instructors. I have been coming for almost a year and I only have positive things to say about this place.

I've been attending coach Selim's 7AM BJJ class and it's been great. This is the first time I've felt excited to come and train. Selim is patient and very technical, my first day he was able to break down and explain a move I'd struggled with for weeks. I'm excited to continue attending these classes and growing in my BJJ journey.

Great place to learn, passionate coaches with heeps of knowledge. 7am BJJ with Salim and Noon Muay Thai with Coach Carmen are great for smaller more personalized attention. Evening classes are buzzy with lots of energy and great people. Gym is spacious and facilities are clean and well stocked. Great place for first time hobbists through experienced fighters. Just wish I had more time in the day to do more classes!

Very great community here and they're very welcoming to newcomers, particularly the BJJ program. I started a few months ago with absolutely zero experience and quickly grew to love it. I credit Coach Selim Cayligil's teaching style as well as the many more advanced students who are incredibly generous to newbies If you're looking to start your BJJ journey for self-defense, fitness, or just community building, Church Street Boxing Gym is a great place.

I recently joined Church Street Boxing Gym’s BJJ class for my very first experience at a gym, and it couldn’t have been better!

The coaches were extremely helpful and patient, making sure everyone understood the techniques no matter their level. The atmosphere was encouraging and welcoming, with members from beginners to advanced practitioners training together respectfully. Everyone was kind, supportive, and eager to help each other improve.

Highly recommend for anyone looking to start or continue their BJJ journey. The culture is so inclusive that I can’t wait to join their other classes!

Ive been training in Church street LIC for about 2-3 months now and ive made so progress in my footwork, my rotation and my stamina, also my technique has improved so much. Ive trained with both Cem & Scrap, both absolutely amazing instructors, really break down the fundamentals and build you up to be better at the art. I have been training a lot more with Scrap Mandolfo and his classes are like none other, he sticks to teaching you the art and motion and throughout his classes I have been able to improve my footwork, my head movement, my punches, technique, and overall conditioning as well. But most of all i started off as a beginner and in two months i have been able to stick the fundamentals and now they come out more naturally, Scrap has really ingrained the skills into my reflexes and muscle memory, his classes are really made of authentic boxing. Not to mention the classes are also fun and feel like a welcoming team when coming in. I most definitely recommend Scraps classes if you are looking to improve and learn authentic boxing.

The front desk was nice, the rest of the experience was hell. The “coach” didn’t even introduce herself, didn’t welcome us or tell us what we were about to do. Just walked around saying “jumping jacks, lunges, jumping squats” that she didn’t even do herself, I should’ve paid the guy next to me since I was watching him for the 10 minutes I was there. no supportive comments, the gym was so full there wasn’t enough space to accommodate half of us.Overall messy, bad customer service and a non inclusive environment.

I was visiting the area for work for a few days and was looking for a place to practice boxing fundamentals. This gym offers gloves you can borrow, disinfecting products, water fountain, and you should bring your own wraps or purchase. The class times I selected were with Coach Cem and another with Coach Adam. I enjoyed my experience visiting the gym, their atmosphere, participating in the boxing classes, getting a really good workout and practicing boxing basics, drills, and getting to work with others. Thank you!

Can only speak to the boxing class and not sparring as of yet, but it was phenomenal.

The class was very intense, boxing drills mixed with cardio and strength training, and I was dripping with sweat by the end of it. I worked with Coach Peter and he was amazing. Nice guy, friendly, attentive, and gives great tips on form.

I would suggest buying your own gloves and wrap before coming, as it’s more sanitary to use your own.

10/10 would recommend and I definitely will be coming back.

Really enjoyed training at Church Street both here and in other locations! I have gone to about 30-40 classes for both all levels and advances classes. There's a great variety of classes at convenient times and a wide variety of instructors at different levels to fit individuals needs. Other gym members and coaches were friendly and professional as well.

I did my first no-gi jiu jitsu class in April 2024 and I have been coming back ever since. The instructor is knowledgeable and caters the lesson to your skill level.

Highly recommend those who haven’t tried grappling to start here. There is a good community with people who are looking to grow with you.

It would be great if this location offered Gi jiu jitsu, as well.

I’ve been mainly training bjj with Coach Selim here. The environment is incredibly welcoming, and the instructor is top-notch—knowledgeable, patient, and truly dedicated to helping each student improve. The classes are well-organized and cater to all skill levels. It's a fantastic place to train, learn, and be part of a supportive community.

Great space, very clean and spacious. Did a boxing class here and it was definitely a shredder class. Burned ~900 Cals in one hour with trainer.

I did wish the classes were a little more boxing skill focus versus workout focused. Perhaps I just picked the wrong session.

Overall, I think I will keep coming back but treating it as a 1hr cardio bootcamp.

I used to train at the 25 park place location under Jason Strout many years ago. When I found out that they were opening up a location in Long Island city, I was ecstatic. Coach Nika was phenomenal and really pushes you. It's a great addition to the area and LIC residents are truly lucky to have this gym.

Did a beginner class as it was my first time trying out Muay Thai. Thought the instructor was great and enjoyed learning new moves and going at my own pace. Good workout.

I am so glad Church street boxing gym has come to my area. I was previously voyaging to Manhattan to remain a part of this community. Community is an understatement for the family feel that is experienced at this gym. We have such a wonderfully awful 😅 time in coach Mike Hughes’s classes. He will work you out!!! The class was high energy and high intensity with realistic fight instructions coming from the former Golden Glove winner and pro fighter himself. Looking for a fighting and/or fitness tribe? You’ll find it here. Looking for a fun way to challenge your body and mind also here. Can’t recommend church street gym, and particularly Mike H, enough.
