I was really disappointed to learn that this studio pays its yoga teachers only around $22 per hour — that’s not a living wage in NYC, especially given the cost of living and the professionalism expected in this field. When I attended classes here, I also found the staff to be unprofessional and the overall experience didn’t reflect the values that yoga is supposed to stand for. I truly hope the management reconsiders how they treat and compensate their instructors. Until then, I won’t be returning or recommending this place.

I’ve been a loyal CorePower Yoga student for a long time and have always loved the classes at other locations even california. But my experience yesterday at this particular studio was the worst I’ve ever had. The Sculpt class was completely overcrowded! people’s feet were practically in each other’s faces, and the room was unbearably hot with zero air circulation. It was so packed and suffocating that several of us had to walk out mid class because it was impossible to breathe or move safely. I couldn't even do mountain pose or any yoga positions?!
To make things worse, there were no towels provided, and the staff at check-in didn’t bother explaining anything , no directions to the changing rooms, no welcome, nothing. For a company that usually prides itself on cleanliness, safety, and professionalism, this was a total disappointment.
Honestly, it felt unsafe and unsanitary, and I don’t understand how packing that many people into a small, unventilated space can even be legal. I will be reporting this experience to corporate and the appropriate authorities.
CorePower, I hope you take this seriously and fix these conditions immediately.

The instructors are great but, when you walk into the studio, there is an overwhelming stench of sweat (similar to dirty athletic clothes). The place feels dirty like you’re going to get athletes foot. Because of that, I probably won’t be back and I’d definitely warn everyone to protect themselves by wearing socks/slippers in the common areas.

"Is there something I can help you with"
That's how I was greeted today after patiently waiting to be acknowledged. I stood in line for few minutes for 2 workers to conclude their conversation with 1 patron (about the commute home).
I felt unwelcomed.
My expectations are probably too high but I would have appreciated if they both didn't pretend I wasn't standing there long enough to hear 'that the patron hand to commute home without an umbrella, but it's not raining that hard'.
Then when they finally get to acknowledged, there's now hello how are you, no welcome in, just is there something I can help with. You are a exercise studio, there's 1 of few things I'd enter to discuss. I wanted to ask about the vibe of the place and ask their opinion on different classes. This was a terrible experience.

It should be illegal to pay for a yoga mat when you paid $43 for a class. Since when is it normal to charge for the equipment you need for a class? When you go to Pilates, Barry's, or any other fitness club or gym, you don't pay for equipment's rental.

The class itself was a great workout, but I had to pay for my mat and I was given the dirtiest and stinkiest mat. I was gagging throughout class due to the stench, and considering that I paid for the use of the mat- I was incredibly disappointed. The facilities themselves were so gross- the bathroom was dirty and they had ONE deodorant stick for everyone to share; other places typically have sprays for sanitary purposes. How gross that they expect everyone to share one deodorant stick!

For the price of the class, the sanitary-ness of the class should be way better. Definitely won't be going to this location again. I couldn't really enjoy my workout due to the ick of the mat and filth of the location. I tried not to touch the actual mat by using a towel, but my thumbs occasionally touched the mat. My thumbs now are also itchy/in pain to the touch? I’m really hoping I don’t have some sort of infection from the gross and filthy mat. One could certainly get ringworm from unsanitary conditions like these…

Really disappointed - and so upset I had to PAY for a gross mat that smelled like stinky feet and vomit. I wish I didn’t spend my hard earned money for this.

This place néeds a receptionist and a cleaning person. Here at 11:59 for the 12 pm class. The door is locked. Come at least 5 min before otherwise you will not get in

Debated whether to give a 2 or a 3. I think clases are a 5 because the instructors are really good, and it’s a great workout. However, whatever happened to the facilities?? Whoever manages this chain is not doing a great job. Is it too much to ask to have someone clean the bathroom? Also they need to clean and mop the floors between classes. Noting that this is not specific to Nomad. Went to the studio at Bryant Park and it was a similar experience.

I have been to many corepower locations in several different states and this one was by far the worst I’ve been to. The studio space was weirdly laid out, the mats smelled, and the instructor had the thermostat at 102 for a C2. There were no locks to be found even after I asked, the shower was covered in mold and had a cockroach and wouldn’t drain properly, and I saw someone barely spraying the mats on my way out (which explains the smell). I understand not many people use the showers but they still need to be maintained. For what they charge for classes in New York these are pretty abysmal cleanliness standards.

As a longtime enthusiast of CorePower Yoga, returning after multiple ankle surgeries was meant to be a revitalizing experience. However, my first day back was very disheartening.

The lack of attention to basic needs was evident from the start. Whomever checked me in the front desk didn’t inquire about necessities like towels or mats, there was no “Do you need anything for class?”. The state of the bathroom was beyond subpar and so were the floors. Further, when I sought a key for ANY locker for my belongings, the staff’s dismissive response was frustrating. I’d originally asked where the keys were located as from my memory, they were kept on hand keychains by the locker. So, I went back to the front and asked again when I received a condescending, “They’re in the locker,” as if I hadn’t already looked. When I returned to tell them again, they simply said they ran out and just to put my stuff in the front desk.

For the premium price charged for classes, I expected a higher standard of service. It’s disappointing that such fundamental aspects of the customer experience were overlooked. I will likely avoid this location moving forward.

The Yoga Sculpt class is one of my favorite work out classes. Issa P is my fav instructor. After one of her classes I’m sore in muscle areas I’ve never been sore before in.
My only complaint is the price of classes.

This review is specifically for the Nomad location of CorePower - this is a franchise so many locations.

I’ve been to this location 5-8 times over the last few months, and was disappointed all but 1 time. I try to go to other locations, but if classes are full I’ll go here.

If you are new to yoga, you probably won’t mind this studio. If you are a few years into your yoga practice, you’ll likely have a hard time finding a fitting instructor here.

Instructors: (in my general experience at this location) not engaging, inexperienced, not natural leaders, classes are boring and not challenging.

Studio: terrible design and use of space.
-heaters never feel as hot as thermometer reads
-water fountain with pressure so low it takes a full minute to refill water bottle
-rental mats not clean. They are usually still wet when you rent and the strong odor of vinegar/BO ruins the headspace any time your face is on the mat
-locker rooms so small there is no where to change, constant awkward traffic jam of people stepping out of shower directly next to a bathroom stall. there is one bathroom stall that is about 4 feet too wide - unnecessary waste of space.

If this was a $20 per class studio I would lower my expectations. One class is now $38. I expect better from CorePower.

If you are a CorePower member and are looking for challenging and high-energy classes, I recommend the Williamsburg location (but almost every class sells out so book a week early).

Eric is a great instructor! His HPF class left me energized and feeling great. The studios are always clean and even if you don't have a big Yoga background, you will get a lot out of this practice.

I enjoyed my first class very much. It was very clean. The instructions were clear and included variations to decrease and increase the intensity.

I have recommended it to other people already. Their feedback is that they're unlikely to come because:

1. There are not many men there. (My hubby said that he doesn't feel comfortable working out with only women. Other men might revel in the attention.)

2. There are no beginners' classes after work. Please add some!

My experience with Corepower was confusing. I attended my first class at the studio and when I checked in I was told my first three classes were free. Great! I took class and it was good, not very hot, but still a good class. The next week I signed up for my second class. When I checked in at the front desk the same woman who told me the first three classes were free asked me how I wanted to pay for class. When I reminded her I was told last week I had three free classes so said no no I don't know who told you that (you did!). She let me know the real offer was your first two weeks free. In order to get the offer you had to put a card on file. If you didn't want to extend past two weeks you had to cancel within that time frame. Ok no problem, I gave her my card to keep on file so I could have the two weeks unlimited yoga. When I got home from class I find I was charged $109 for the two weeks - another lie from the front desk staff. I reached out to the customer service and it took over a week to get a response. They did refund the money. I looked into my account under "memberships" to be sure that I was not registered for a membership and nothing was listed. I checked several times to be sure and even asked customer service to ensure this. Exactly two weeks from my last visit I was charged another $218 for a membership. Only now did the membership appear under my account. Again I reached out to customer service but received no response.

I can't recommend Corepower to anyone simply because of the shadiness of their business practices. I was mislead multiple times by a member of their front desk team and have wait far too long to receive a response from their customer service. It's unfortunately because the classes were halfway decent. I recommend taking your money to a small non corporate run studio.

Good customer service I’ve received so far! Rachel from the team catered to all my questions and helped me figure out the best way to set up my vacation freeze.

Lock situation is not ideal because it’s one extra thing to remember to bring to the room.
