My husband and I have worked with Kate for several years while living in the area. She is the best we found after having been to other local studios. We continue to work with her online from San Diego. Kate's knowledge about Pilates is incredible and her ability to communicate and keenly observe movement is A+

Kate is a wonderful Pilates teacher! Her lessons are specially curated each week to help work all parts of the body. She offers beginner through advanced lessons. If you are struggling with an issue, she will help to tailor the class around her students’ needs. I always leave class with homework to do PT at home. Kate is particularly helpful to those with neuromuscular issues. She is kind, empathetic, and compassionate; she truly cares about her students. She has a great eye to help gently guide students into correct alignment. She uses a wide selection of various props and equipment to support her students trouble spots. The studio is warm, welcoming, inclusive, and full of art. This is a great place for all ability levels. I’ve gotten better results working with Kate than anywhere else. I am happy to support a small, woman owned business! Ps…red cord classes at her home studio are fun! :)

Kate is a wonderful woman who truly cares for her clients. As passionate about Pilates as she is, she is equally as concerned about the overall well being of each and every one of her clients. I began working with her a few years ago while I was recovering from a long term illness. Our private lessons together were very productive as she individualized a plan for me that gave me confidence in regaining strength and encouraged me to keep working my body as I recovered. Fast forward a few years and I now attend advanced classes at her studio. Never did I think I would be in an advanced class when I first started working with her. During class she has a keen eye to help me make small corrections and adjustments to work my body to its true potential. She motivates and encourages me to use my strength, all the while listening to any feedback I may have. She is very attentive to each of her clients overall health and well being, and is quick to make individualized modifications for us when necessary. She is a master at her craft and has created a loving studio with great community. I feel confident, supported, encouraged, cared for, challenged, and healthy while in her presence. If you are looking for the whole package, look no further. She is the best!

Kate is an exceptionally thoughtful and creative Pilates teacher! Her knowledge of the human body, how it moves, and how to demonstrate specific Pilates movements is incredible. After injuring my lower back, her diligence and attention has helped me rehab and avoid any painful recurring episodes. I surpassed my original baseline of flexibility, strength, and balance and am amazed at what I can now accomplish with my body. It takes a little time but the benefits of each session compound! I recommend anyone of any age / fitness level to consider Crescent Trail Pilates!

I have taken reformer classes with Kate exclusively online for a year and a half. Kate is the best and most encouraging instructor, I have ever had the pleasure of learning from -- in any sport or hobby. I went from knowing nothing about Pilates, to practicing twice a week and feeling confident in the movements and feeling fortified in my core. For background, I am out of state and found her zoom reformer class by googling. I was not sure what to expect trying Pilates for the first time, having purchased a small reformer from Amazon. Kate was sure to go slow at first, providing helpful resources and supplementary training on the mat. She is so precise that I rarely even look at the screen for visual directions and it feels like she's in the room with me, because she is so good at describing movements in a way that's intuitive and recommending micro changes as needed. She is also incredibly caring, tuning in to what my body needs each session to cater specifically to me, while also pushing me to challenge myself. I'm so lucky to have found Crescent Trail Pilates and can't recommend Kate enough -- to new and experienced students alike!

There are so many good things to say about Kate. Her mad skills as a Pilates instructor, her philosophy on treating people, her compassion, her ability to tailor movements based on one's health & physical issues, and the fact that she truly cares about her clients. I'm 71, male, and attend "duet" sessions along with my wife under Kate. I've worked with many personal trainers over the years, good ones, but Covid set me way back. Once I emerged from my Covid cocoon, I began seeing Kate. Shortly thereafter, rotator cuff surgery was required and a host of other medical issues raised their ugly heads. Kate, however, knew how to best deal with each one and personalizes each session to my needs.

It's impressive and I trust her to move me at the correct pace for MY health vs. other trainers who would encourage me to push past my limits. I can honestly say that she's teaching me how to relate to my body in entirely new ways and that I feel more in tune with it than ever before. I feel FREED to move with more strength and confidence as I cope with an ailing and aging body. It's truly liberating and SUCH a great feeling.

Most importantly though, Kate is unique - she'd rather work with people who need her help than simply be an instructor for those looking to exercise. She's more than a Pilates instructor, she's a darned Pilates Saint.

Know that it's not about money with Kate (though she's worth every penny), it's about helping people live a better life - a rare and wonderful quality in any human being.

Kate and her studio is simply amazing! Her teaching of traditional Pilates has truly changed my life. I am physically and mentally stronger and flexible than I’ve ever been in my 33 years of life. She makes an effort to personalize every class to her students needs. I give Kate my highest recommendation. She is professional, caring, and creates an environment unlike any other Pilates studio I’ve ever experienced and that says something! Thank you Kate for your love and dedication to this work. ❤️

I have had the pleasure of being a CTP client for two and a half years. The studio spaces are warm, inviting, and beautifully equipped, while the small, intimate classes focus on the client's needs. Kate is an incredibly skilled, attentive, encouraging instructor, and an overall wonderful person. I can not recommend Crescent Trail Pilates enough- it's truly home away from home!

Kate is a wonderful instructor! She is very attentive to each individual's needs/problem areas of the body and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with her since I joined her studio in February 2021. I always had stiff neck, shoulder and back because my job requires sitting all day. After starting pilates with Kate, I learned stretching exercises which I could do at home to lighten my stiff neck, shoulder and back, and lots of strength training!! I noticed I am stronger in general, have gotten more flexible, and playing cello has gotten easier due to triceps that I am forming for the first time in my life!! Kate is articulate with her instructions and I know I am learning well thanks to her thoughtful guidance. I highly recommend joining the studio!

My husband and I have been working with Kate for approximately two years. We relocated to Rochester and had been practicing Pilates in another city with a different instructor for six years.
We are truly impressed with Kate’s knowledge and ability to ascertain our needs and communicate proper technique. Her credentials in Pilates, as well as other types of movement and rehabilitative therapies are impressive.
When we moved to Rochester, my shoulder movement was extremely compromised and I was experiencing considerable pain. After working with Kate, I am happy to say that I have full use of my shoulder and am pain free. We truly love her individualized approach and the fact that Kate insures that we are moving correctly. This is not a group exercise class where there are many people following a “leader”, just going through the motions, and not seeing improvement.
If you are looking for a the best Pilates experience and want to see results to your individualized goals, we highly recommend that you work with Kate Wheeler of Crescent Trail Pilates.

I've been a student of Kate's ever since she opened her studio in Fairport, and she has shaped my journey to better strength and understanding of my body than I've ever had. With her dance and music background along with her Pilates knowledge, she understands my particular structural and movement challenges from a number of different perspectives. She is quick to adapt the exercises to my needs and tailors the lessons to help keep it interesting and fun. Starting Pilates with Kate was one of the best things I've done for myself!

At the risk of being long winded I feel the need to share... I am a 48 year old male and I work out regularly. I have a torn labrum in both my hips causing pain while walking, sitting, doing anything active and even sleeping if I am not careful. This pain radiates from my hips to beyond my knees. This has been going on for 3 years. I was told my options were surgery (which they didn’t recommend) or dealing with it. My trainer recommended Kate’s studio. I have been there not quite a year and I have minimal to no hip pain anymore. I only go once a week. Kate’s understanding of the body and how muscles work is incredible. Her ability to make you understand how to move properly to strengthen the appropriate muscles is second to none. She can watch and tell exactly how I’m doing things wrong and also explain how to fix it correctly in a way that is easy to understand. To say I highly recommend Kate and her studio is an absolute understatement. Thank you for everything Kate!

I have worked with Kate for 2 years. She has such a kind and individualized approach even with group classes. She inquires about what we want to work on and adapts movements to individual needs accordingly. She is extremely knowledgeable about Pilates and can easily identify the impact of how small modifications in movement can improve our workout. She has greatly improved my flexibility, posture and strength which has enhanced everyday activities. Kate truly cares about the well-being of her clients.

It is hard to sum up how much I love Crescent Trail Pilates and Kate! 2 years ago I was new to Pilates & now I’m a lifer. I can’t imagine going anywhere else, no matter where life takes me in the future. With the pandemic, things went virtual and now I know wherever I go I can take her with me. Kate has helped me learn to listen to my body and believe in it’s possibility. She has been a gift to me in so many ways. I have tried many things through the years and the only thing I could tolerate was water therapy until I found Crescent Trail Pilates. Her studio is amazing! I miss being there in person but thanks to zoom I’m still able to get my pilates fix. She is kind, intentional and unbelievably knowledgeable. Oh and she’s a lot of fun too!

I have been taking virtual Pilates classes since the pandemic started. The variety of times makes it easy to find classes each week that this west coast girl can attend. I love Kate’s classes! I am no Pilates expert, but Kate always gives modifications for every ability level. Virtual meetings can sometimes be tough, but the lighting and zoom of the studio camera allows me to fully see each movement and follow along easily. Kate’s knowledge of Pilates and how our muscles work is impressive! I can already tell that I am stronger and more flexible than before I started classes!

Working with Kate has been truly transformational for me. I cannot recall a time where I have felt so confident and strong. Regardless of how many people you are with, Kate goes out of her way to tailor the workout to your needs and she takes a genuine interest in your overall well-being - both physical and emotional. Kate is incredibly knowledgeable and takes great care to make sure you are feeling comfortable. Before COVID, the studio was always immaculate and a warm and inviting place. Kate didn't miss a beat when transitioning to COVID-times and virtual classes. One of my favorite things about CTP is that when you walk in, it is a warm atmosphere where you feel respected, challenged, confident, and safe. Words cannot express my gratitude for Kate and CTP and, if you are looking to get into pilates, this is the place!

Kate at Crescent Trail Pilates is a master teacher and an expert at her craft. Whether you are looking to try pilates for the first time or are a seasoned practitioner, look no further! Kate will meet you where you are and begin an amazing journey of growth. I have worked with Kate in the studio and virtually during the pandemic. In both settings she has an amazing ability to identify the needs of each client and address specific, actionable ways to help them. I have studied pilates in many different formats (mat classes, in person, virtual) over the past 15 years before meeting Kate. She is by far the best! A true gem.

I dont know what I would do if I didnt have Kate at Crescent trail pilates in my life. Kate and the teachers in her studio have given me the fundamentals to achieve a balanced body and mind. During this crazy pandemic, the studio literally transformed virtually, within a matter of days I was able to keep my routine as they offered multiple classes daily via Zoom, Kate even provides recordings of the classes, pricing is extremely reasonable, offering different package classes as well as paying per class. The crescent trail community continues to grow even virtually and Im so blessed to have them in my life.

I have been working with Kate at CTP for just over a year. She is an amazing instructor who not only knows her "craft" but seeks to understand her clients' personal issues. She customizes my weekly workouts to address what my body needs in that moment, while building my overall strength and confidence. She transitioned to private, virtual sessions without missing a beat and has kept me going both physically and mentally during this challenging time.

Just two months before Covid 19 hit, I started taking Pilates lessons and classes at Crescent Trail Pilates, and I loved every minute of it. When all non-essential businesses were temporarily shut down, Kate Wheeler (the owner) quickly set up online classes and lessons, and I find that I like that format just as much, if not more. It's just so simple to go to my bedroom, sign onto a Zoom session, and start working out. The monthly membership allows for unlimited classes, and there are usually several different ones to choose from every day. That has saved my sanity during this crazy time.

I cannot say enough about what a good teacher Kate is. She is extremely knowledgeable about anatomy, and has done more for me in this past nine months than any physical therapist EVER has. I love her patient, kind, and professional style of teaching.

Having the unlimited online classes membership has allowed me to take classes from Eugenia Richardson as well. She is also a wonderful teacher.

Both Kate and Eugenia are absolute sweethearts!

Kate and Eugenia of Crescent Trail Pilates have truly helped me transform, not just my body, but my spirit! I had been suffering from stress and hormone-related inflammatory arthritis and had gained 15 lbs after a hysterectomy. I was working 50-hour weeks and had just become resigned to living in chronic pain with dwindling mobility. I had always wanted to try Pilates, but never made the commitment. Then, following the death of a relative I was caring for, I decided it was time to take care of myself, and just showed up at Crescent Trail, not knowing what to expect. Five months and two classes a week later, I am like a new me! Kate and Eugenia are master instructors who lead with kindness and compassion and meet you where you are with no judgment, simply a genuine intention to help you feel “well - on your own terms. Through these classes, I have regained strength, spirit, and confidence, lost 15 lbs, and have a renewed interest in life and deferred dreams! If you’re intimidated about giving Pilates a try, don’t be! Stop into Crescent Trail and meet with Kate and Eugenia to start a journey of self-care and wellbeing you won’t regret!

From my very first class, Kate made me feel strong and powerful, guiding me gently and with great patience and compassion. She explained each movement including why and how it could help my body. We discussed my injury history so she could modify the movements to my needs. It was the first time anyone had given me that extra time! I left wondering what it could have been like to have that care through the exercise I’d done before Pilates. The fact that I met a teacher in tune with my situation and individual body made a huge difference.

Pilates has become a healthy outlet for me to let go and to step outside my comfort zone, building confidence as a result. The studio is beautiful, clean, and a very calming space, which quickly gets filled with the warmth, love and laughter of passionate students like myself! If you haven't tried Pilates before, this is the place to start. I'm so glad I did and now I'm a fan for life!

Love this place! I’ve always enjoyed taking Pilates mat classes, but wanted to find a studio to begin classical training on the apparatus.
I had been searching in the Rochester area, trying to find the right fit for me. Being middle aged and a recent cancer survivor, I was seeking mature, experienced teachers that could meet me where I was at “today”.
Both Kate and Eugenia fit the bill!
I felt welcomed and cared for from day one. Lessons are individualized to support you, but also to challenge you.
After just a short time, I feel fit, flexible, and fabulous thanks to these ladies! So much so, that I am pursuing formal study in classical Pilates!
I highly recommend Crescent Trail Pilates, you will build incredible strength, improve chronic pain, flexibility, balance, and overall health.

I took Pilates when I lived out west, but I hadn't found the "right" Pilates studio since moving back to Rochester. I wanted a place where the instructors took the time to focus on you, even in a group setting. I found that with Crescent Trail Pilates, and then some! The studio is so homey, and all the instructors are absolutely fantastic. Kate, the owner, has the most calming demeanor and really focuses on your form. Eugenia is so welcoming, and I immediately felt like I knew her for a long time. Kristen always challenges me and has a ton of different exercises to try. And all the instructors really listen to you and your body, and modify the class based on your needs and abilities. I can't say enough great things about the instructors and the studio. And the Pilates itself has helped my body immensely - my form throughout the day, my strength, and most importantly, my core. I always feel better after attending class. Pilates is definitely something you build up though, so don't expect results overnight. It takes time, practice, and effort, but it's SO worth it. Thanks to the ladies at Crescent Trail Pilates, I have found a wonderful exercise "home" :)

"Kate is a teacher who truly cares about the health and well-being of her clients, someone whose kindness comes through not only in her teaching but in the way she relates to her students. When I injured my back and later hurt hurt my hand (not while doing Pilates) and couldn't practice Pilates for about a month after each incident, Kate took the time to email me a list of exercises I could do at home while recovering -- including links to videos showing me the proper sequence and form of the exercises. It's not something I asked her do or in any way expected her to do; she did it voluntarily, because my health mattered to her. And that's who she is as a Pilates instructor. Boston has lost a wonderful teacher, and Rochester has gained one."
