I've been going for 13 years now - since I turned 60. Yes, "masters" are welcome! The workouts are varied so you never get bored. They are scaled to your ability. The instruction is superb with safety foremost. Coaches do a fantastic job. Monthly challenges make "extra" exercise fun! There's a great camaraderie among the athletes! CFSB is the best!!

NCFIT has been nothing short of amazing. The culture, professionalism and environment are fantastic. Iβve always been super intimated by CrossFit, and all the coaches have taken their time to train me and build my confidenc as well as strength.

I joined in October of 2020, and this gym's dedication towards safety and long-term commitment to fitness really won me over. All of the coaches and members are so encouraging and motivating! I feel so at home here, even as someone with no prior crossfit experience, and I think anyone considering it should give it a try at this awesome gym.

I have been training at CFSB for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it. The coaches are really attentive and help you maintain proper form. It's really a friendly environment with all different types of people, everyone fits in. I've also noticed huge improvements in my running since committing to CF. I think my favorite thing about it is that all I have to do is show up. All of the training preparation is thought out for you....show up, work hard for one hour, feel amazing afterwards....good stuff!πͺ

Excellent place to workout. CrossFit is intimidating for a lot of people but in this place the coaches really do adapt the program to everyone's needs and capabilities. I am not super athletic and I have no interest in competing but I have been working out here for years and love it. Funny, it works just as well for the super fit, highly competitive folks.

I started with their boot camp at crossfit stony brook in March '15 which is a 6 week program.I did 2 boot camps and lost a total of 28 lbs and 3 inches. The coaches are so motivating and knowledgeable and the members are just like family. I've upgraded to crossfit and enjoy the variety of workouts and times available. It's actually fun to work out.......

Iβve been a CFSB member for about 2 months now. The schedule is very flexible - there is a time slot that will work for everyone. The coaches explain each WOD in detail and the workouts have choices for different fitness levels. The coaches also help you scale in case of any injuries. The workouts are challenging but fun. You can perform at any level you are currently at. The coaches are very helpful and very personable. The members are friendly and itβs been a pleasure to become part of the CFSB community. If you are interested Michael and Janine will gladly give you a tour and speak to you about membership.

My last review was about a year ago, so I thought I'd update. I honestly never thought I'd still be exercising a year later. I still only have great things to say about CrossFit. One of the best things is that now my son goes with me once a week and takes the kid/teen class. I love that there is a sense of community, and the people that work there truly mean it when they say "how are you" or "nice to see you". Thank you Mike, Janine and the rest of the coaches :-)

Love it! I originally joined CrossFit at a box back home, but as I moved on campus to Stony Brook University I figured I would look for a local box. I can't say I regret it. I enjoy the community, educated trainers, intense workouts, and LARGE amount of space! Definitely recommend it!

I have been coming to CFSB for over 3 years now. It is a small and intimate box which lends itself well to creating a great atmosphere where you know everyone and everyone knows you. The members motivate each other during the work-outs every day. The coaches are amazing and they push you to perform at your very best.
Michael Denicola is passionate about fitness and pushing you to make lifestyle changes so you can lead a healthier life. In fact, ask him about the many people he has helped to lose significant amounts of weight via diet and exercise (the list keeps growing.)
John "Sensei" Grass is an amazing Olympic Weight-lift coach. Go to him if you want to learn how to snatch, press or clean ungodly amounts of weights. Plus he is great with kids!
And then there is Itamar Cohen. Chances are when you walk into the gym, this guy is coaching. Which is great, since he is a great motivator and a great coach. He will push you to your max at every work-out and everyone pretty much attributes their PRs to him and his encouragement. Plus, he is easy on the eyes, so the girls love him and the guys secretly want to be him. And every now and then he will do a partner WOD with you, which is lots of fun.
So if you have been on the fence about making a big change in your life, stop by CFSB. The gym just moved into a much larger space, so there is plenty of room to work-out, stretch and just have fun. Mention my name, and Itamar will give you a free personal intro session and maybe...just maybe, give me a partner WOD in return. :)

I started attending CFSB June 1st 2015. I started losing weight within weeks and have lost 40 pounds in 6 months!! The new gym is extremely spacious regardless of how many people are in the class and the people in the class are always cheering each other on. The coaches are phenomenal and make sure your doing the movements correctly so you don't get injured. They have a genuine concern toward everyone there and will go out of their way to help you when they can. Because of their attitude I got 5 to 6 days a week and look forward to going!! I only wish I started with them sooner.

I am new to CrossFit and so far I am loving it. I really like that there is a beginner class. The coaches always say any class can be scaled down -- and I have scaled down classes so I can keep up -- but I know in the beginner class there are other people with my skill level so I feel more confident. Also, the new space is FANTASTIC. There's so much room! I started going to CrossFit for their World's Best Bootcamp program. I did that twice and was amazed at how much stronger I became after 6 weeks. The coaches are very helpful and it's a friendly environment. I am so happy I decided to join.

I have been going to Crossfit Stony Brook for over a year and I love it. The Coaches are very knowledgable and always helpful. I had knee surgery last year and they help me modify workouts to prevent injury. Mike and Janine and the staff are involved in the Stony Brook community and it's great to see them at local charity events helping out. You won't find a better place to work out and get healthy and strong.

I am a 40 year old woman who just had my second child last December (she is a year old now) I gained a LOT of weight with the pregnancy and was was always sleepy and achy after her birth. A friend at work told me she had felt the same way until she got herself strong with Cross-fit boot camp. So... I took the leap and gave it a try, It was completely out of my comfort zone but I just did it.... and 4 weeks into the boot camp I have to say I am more confident in my own skin, have more energy and am so much stronger. The coaches are real down to earth kind people who seem to truly care about the helping me become a better, more healthy me. My advice for anyone thinking about joining is just go for it! You will be glad you did.

One of my favorite places to go to. Before coming to CFSB I felt very static in my workouts, I decided to give it a try and for the last 1.5 years could not be more grateful. Michael (the owner) is extremely passionate about his business and members. The coaches are amazing- whether you are very athletic or just starting to work out, the coaches care about every single one of their athletes. Learning proper form is a priority at CFSB so you don't get injured. The workouts are always changing, you never get bored, and you become STRONG. Amazing, supportive community of members. Could not recommend this place more. You will become addicted!

I love Stony Brook Crossfit!! I have been a member since January 2015. I started with their Bootcamp program because I was a little intimidated about joining Crossfit outright. The Bootcamp program was amazing! It incorporates crossfit moves with use of only your body weight or light dumbbells. If you want to get cardio strong, then the bootcamp is a great choice. Then I graduated from that program and started Crossfit. The coaches at the gym go over each move in detail so that you will not hurt yourself. They provide so much support and encouragement to get you through your workout and to keep having you come back for more. I would highly recommend Stony Brook Crossfit.

I joined Stony Brook CrossFit in July 2014 . I t changed my life. There is something very special about it . Michael and the staff have been there for me in exceeding all of my goals . I would wholeheartedly recommend this gym to anyone in our area whether you are a 20-year-old athlete training for an upcoming season or 40-year-old just looking to be in better shape. Started going in November of 2015 - the older we get the more important it is to keep in shape and not just workout but workout properly so you don't get hurt - over extend your knee or pull your back out- and your not working out for awhile. The people at crossfit are professionals. They take the time to explain each exercise and walk around and make sure your doing it correctly with the proper weight. For that reason I am so glad I joined crossfit and not some gym where you are ignored after you sign up.

I joined CrossFit in the summer of 2014 because they had a great Groupon deal. There were lots of classes to fit any schedule, and the coaches were all great. They knew how to scale back all the exercises so everyone in the class was getting a great workout.
I just wish the cost wasn't so much. I would have loved to join after my Groupon expired, but I couldn't afford the membership rate.
