This is a good gym. It gets crowded here and there, but in general you can get on the equipment you need. I have never tried the dreaded 5 or 6 pm slot though. 4 stars because they really need a 3rd flat bench. Like, sell the decline bench no one uses that anyways and you can't be over 5'9" cause it isn't adjustable. Dbs go up to 120 I think, bumper plates available if that's your thing.

I used to be a member of Aspen and when Crunch took over I continued with my membership. I have not been disappointed. The group classes are amazing. The instructors make it fun to workout. Alenka makes us work hard but also makes us laugh. Kim has also been a great instructor. I absolutely love the new Pilates class that Kathy has been doing. It is so good to do something different. Kathy is a wonderful instructor also. She pushes us more than we would push ourselves. Great Group Classes.

I was an Aspen member for years and decided to continue after Crunch took over. I enjoy that the classes are posted and organized so that they don’t get overcrowded. The class instructors, especially Kim, are knowledgeable and accommodating for those who may be more or less “fit.” All of the instructors are motivating and great at what they do. The atmosphere is friendly and I enjoy coming in to work out!

Poorly managed, isnt much different from what was before crunch, aspen. Crunch corporate should really conme in and look at the disaster that hs happened since this place has become crunch. Overly crowded and not enough machines especially leg machines and benches. I would love to cancel but there is nothing else in cicero. This place doesnt care about anybody because its the only gym in the area and everyone has a membership. This place has turned into a planet fitness

Before Crunch fitness took over the gym was clean, mirrors were always clean. Floors were well maintained. Now the mirrors are gross. If you do any kind of floor exercises you can see dust balls with hair all around the floor. The bathrooms seem to be out of service as well with no warning on there social media pages or just sending out an email. I've been so disappointed with how the gym is kept under the new ownership. I gave its 2 years under new ownership and it has only gone down hill.

Not enough leg machines and they break every other week. Literally one smith machine yet this place racks in 95% profit margins from the 13 different clubs and group activities they run. Everyone there complains that there’s one smith machine. Water fountain is either broken or 90° F. The upper management is rlly greedy with money. Front desk is nice but that’s about it.

One of the best gyms around. The reasons I don’t give it five stars is because the front desk is often unmanned when I’m trying to purchase energy drinks, there is only one smith machine, and the leg press was broken for months.

I’ve been going to Crunch for approximately 2 months, I did a one day tour with Tina after going to another gym for several months. From the beginning, Tina was an outstanding embodiment of customer service, friendliness and commitment. She enthusiastically gave me a tour and showed me several reasons why this facility was a better option than its competitors, from equipment to staff. I’m an early riser and head into Crunch every morning around 5am, and Tina is always here to greet me. Throughout my workouts, I’ve always appreciated how conscious the members of the gym as well as the staff, specifically Tina are of ensuring the facility is clean. I’ll be a member of this gym for the foreseeable future, and the introduction to my journey here was Tina’s friendly smile and open arms. 👍🏼 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love this gym. I work out here 5 times a week. It's right next to my job and it's always clean. The ONLY thing I don't like and the reason for only 4 stars is there's only 1 smith machine. I do a large part of my workouts on a smith machine because it's safe, you can isolate muscles and work to failure without needing a spotter. But there's always someone on it when I need it because there's only 1. Planet fitness has 4, but I don't like planet fitness their cable machines are ancient and it smells like butt. Just get a second smith machine and I'll change it to 5 stars and buy you all lunch.

Manager @ Crunch Cicero,

I have contacted you multiple times this year asking you to stop charging my card for a membership that I cancelled last year. Most recently, on 16 Sep 2024 I called and spoke to a member of your staff who put me in touch with the GM. After multiple email exchanges I was told that you would investigate it and figure out why I am still being charged and get back to me and since then no one has gotten back to me, I have not received a refund to my card, and I am still being charged.

Background for reference

Brad S. Addison

I physically came into your gym in Cicero last year and cancelled my membership on an IPAD per the representative at the desk. I asked if that is all that I had to do and I was told yes, after speaking with someone on the phone a year later, they asked if I received an email as a secondary cancellation procedure, my response was no, and then I asked; why would I need to validate my cancellation if I physically walked into your business and cancelled it on your computer equipment? Furthermore, after multiple inquiries over the past year, if this was indeed a requirement; how come no one has sent me this magical cancellation email that would prevent you from continuing to charge my card this membership fee that I cancelled a year ago.

I was told that you would work this, confirm my refund, and cancel this reoccurring fee. I am sure that you can tell that from the entry scans in your system, I have only entered your establishment maybe two times in the last five years, so I am not sure why this continues to be a problem.

I am a hardworking, honest individual who faithfully paid my dues to you, and for you to continue to take my money after being asked so many times is “Wrong” on all accords.

I am requesting that my card be refunded from the date of my cancellation and that you stop charging my card. A written response to my request is requested.

To whom it may concern,

I cancelled my son’s membership on Aug. 3 with his last visit to Crunch fitness on 7/19/24. I called crunch fitness again today 8/24/24 where I was assured that this cancellation would have been handled.

This is total corruption. If I see a single charge on my card moving forward you can assume I will seek litigation.

Cancel the membership immediately. This is ridiculous.

I decided to cancel my gym membership being that I couldn’t make it there to work out . They had me pay another month that I was leaving because I couldn’t make it there not only that my yearly membership was approaching so they made me pay for a gym Membership that I wouldn’t even be using. What kind of business is this . So they got me for the month that I just paid 4 days before the phone call to cancel , and another 110.00 dollars to leave a gym . This is what I call bad business !!!!!!!!!!!

They have to many entitled selfish people doing super sets and they only have one of every machine. Only occupying one machine is A unenforced rule. So either you use nothing or you move someones water bottle/cellphone off the machine and take it well there at there 2nd machine and sometimes theres a argument

Crunch Fitness is horrible and they make it impossible to cancel your membership. Give you a number to call because they are incapable of doing it at the location you signed up in for some reason. Then the number you call will go and just hang up on you while you are trying to get ahold of an actual person. Never should of changed from Aspen to Crunch

Remodeled the gym, lots of new weights/trx equipment but I feel it’s lacking on cardio. Coming here on a weekend is intense. Very hard to get on a machine. Overall decent gym for 9.99$ a month

Zero communication about the change to become crunch fitness. If you want to cancel, you have to give 30+ days notice (it will be cancelled enter your next billing cycle. They recently added a $2 “convenience fee” to their monthly billing.

Charging me a bunch of fees that I did not sign up for, if spent at least an extra hundred bucks on mistakes from them that. Convince fee of $2. What a joke it’s an inconvenience to call them every month to ask for my money back. Don’t come here lol.

The new partnership with Crunch is refreshing. The new equipment was needed, and is all great. Plenty of equipment to go around , no more waiting in line or constantly nagging people sitting on their phone “how many more sets bro” to get them moving.

My biggest gripe, the hours which have changed more than once recently. (As of writing this review the hours have changed for Fridays effective 17 days ago, they now close at 9p but a google search still shows them open till 10p). Social media shows the updated hours but didn’t think to have to check social media.

There are no respectable gyms within 30 mins of my house apart from Powerhouse Bville, or Planet Fitness (a joke to the fitness community) that are 24/7, or that have late weekend hours. Crunch-Cicero appears to have a pretty big LEO, First Responder, and military demographic, all of which are shift workers myself included. Most weekends it’s difficult to fit a workout in my schedule, or at least ones where i’m not planning my day around being able to rush in 30 or 45 minutes before close.

Would be cool if Crunch could fill the gap where other local gyms fall short on the weekends. But I get i’m likely the minority wishing for this.

The gym is OK. They took out most of the cardio equipment I liked. The guests, however, are extremely rude. Many of the guests do not wipe the machines down after use and more than many of the guests sit on the machines for so long, reading their phones in between reps (5 minute rest between reps seems excessive). Come on people, let us do our workout. Go play on your phones somewhere else!! You are at the gym for a reason.

Absolute trash company ran by trash employees. The only way they make money is by scamming people and trying to charge them without their knowledge (clearly I'm not the only one as seen by others reviews.) 100% needs a lawsuit against them for fraud. They also hang up on you when you try to get answers.

Haven't been to this gym in years. Used to love it. Was grandfathered in at $5/month nearly 20 years ago. I'd have been happy to pay even having moved to another city. However I received a bill for $130.99 via email! Apparently because my card isn't tied to the account now. Note, I've not been in that facility for nearly 2 years. Changing pricing arbitrary is not acceptable and poor business without good communication. I will never set for in the gym again nor pay for monthly costs I've never incurred. Major thumbs down for a garbage price increase.

While not used in the last several years, Ive kept the membership as a back up. I pay annually, the fee was minimal as I paid much up front. The place is being bought out by Crunch, I went to ask for my balance back, including an annual membership fee of $39, that is due in September. The blonde working at the Cicero location asked me if I was going somewhere else, which I have been going to a gym that is more expensive, and I told her. She said Aspen is no more and for what I pay at the other gym, I’m worried about $59.00. Worried, no, I paid up front including a membership fee for a place that as she said “is no more” good faith as I have for many years, want it back, yes. I do hope the new owners have better customer service than the Blonde. Will be leaving the review with them as well.

I’ve been a member since 2011. Always found it to be a clean and well kept facility.
In August of 2022 I slipped off my stepladder painting my garage. I totally ruptured my quad tendon. Completely pulled it off the quad muscle.
After surgery and 6 weeks of PT, I was ok’d by my surgeon to resume gym activities.
I started once a week sessions with Luke Angiolillo one of aspens trainers.
He has done wonders for restrengthening, getting the flexibility and stability back in my knee.
I also do a couple more days a week on my own.
If you like someone to introduce you to overall fitness or specialized training, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LUKE!

I’ll start by saying I have gone to Aspen for about 5 years now and have loved the gym and what it offers. HOWEVER, I just had THE WORST experience with the new management running the drivers village location. From the start of my membership I have had 2 children so of course when I signed up And asked for the daycare to be included it was known to the person who helped me enroll. Today- 5 years later I was told I have to pay $2 extra to bring my second child every time or update my plan. Not once was this EVER mentioned anytime I came to workout for the past 5 years. Now all of a sudden after 5 years I have to change my whole plan or pay 2 dollars every time I come with both my children. I right then and there canceled with them, it has never been brought up in my 5 years going there and I will not be charged more money for the same plan I’ve had for 5 years. Buh-bye

I was told everything was settled. No charges for three months. Randomly i get a 100$ charge on my card. I filed it as fraud, won via my bank, and called. Apparently I’m still locked in. Not happy at all. Spoke to 3 different people regarding my decision to cancel my membership due to school and work. One girl I talked to was completely on my side and understood my position but could not do anything because she was not a manager. I spoke with a manager today, and let me tell you, he didn’t seem to care. Come to find out there is a $75 cancellation fee! On top of that there is a $39.99 annual fee! This was brought to my attention when there was a balance on my Aspen Member Account of $60. I should not be paying $115 to cancel a membership. When I came in to sign up I was not told about a cancellation fee, annual fee, or a contract. I was told to sign here and I was off with my day. Communication is key to something like this and management doesn’t seem to care. Overall terrible experience and I hope other people don’t have to go through what I had to go through.

I have been a member at Aspen since 2013, and I never plan on switching! You get access to all three of their gyms. They have tanning, saunas, child care, towel services, a cardio cinema room, and at the Fairmount location, a juice/shake bar. The owners are amazing, kind people who are involved heavily with the community. They've ensured that all precautions and regulations are followed, from a temperature check at sign-in to hand sanitizing stations set up throughout the gym. There is plenty of space to work out in and equipment to use - They keep all machines in working order, and if something is broken, its fixed within a day or two.

Still charged their customers for services it could not provide during lockdown. UNCONSCIONABLE and UNETHICAL!!! If you need to make ends meet you should have started a private gofundme, instead of forcing one upon your customers!

Today I had a very unprofessional encounter with the owner, Brent, and I cancelled my membership of almost 15 years. I brought a guest with me to work out (he and I have have worked out at Aspen dozens of times together) and Brent accused him of “training” me and said he could not return. When pressed on the issue he stated that bringing guests was a privilege (one they charged me for, mind you) and he was more than happy to process my request to cancel my membership. To set the record straight he was not “training” me, in fact we both have our Certified Personal Training credentials and enjoy working out together. I would hope in the future the owner would learn to value their long term members and not jump to conclusions that are unfounded when their members have far better and higher quality facilities available to choose from in the area. #goingtoBLINK

Good atmosphere and workout machines. They have a stretching area, lots of things for Cardio, legs, quads, abs, biceps, trisceps; honestly you name they should have it.

A lot of the employees who work the front desk are extremely rude, it doesn’t have nearly as nice facilities as the other aspens in central ny, and it smells weird. On top of all of that it’s extremely expensive and not very reasonable to people who are just visiting for the weekend.

I visited this gym with my partner today and I was absolutely NOT pleased. Between the extremely loud clunking of the weights, and the intensely funky smell as soon as one walks through the door, I couldn't even finish my workout. Now, im not saying that gyms should smell like roses and lollipops BUT the smell should not be that bad. And to top it off, the stares that my white partner and I (a woman of color) received from almost each individual in that gym spoke highly of the culture that is practiced. We will not be returning.

I myself have had issues with Aspen, and their billing (which seems to change at their convenience) several times in the past. I had a contract negotiated originally and they (Brent) later told me that I did not have privileges on my membership that I was told I had and had been using for many months leading up to this. He even pulled my old contract, told me I was correct, and then proceeded to tell me that the employee made a mistake and that I had to pay the difference....YEARS LATER...I had to pay more money to get a privilege that I had already been using, and was tempted to leave a poor review at the time. I own a business and I really hate receiving negative feedback over petty issues, so even though I was annoyed at the time I refrained because I believe what goes around comes around and if I held off I was doing the right thing.....however....my girlfriend has recently attempted to terminate her membership that she paid in full for a year in advance, by phone, and was told by (Brent) the manager that she needed to come in to the location and cancel in person, or "hand write a letter" and mail it to the gym if she wanted to cancel....he then threatened her that if she didn't, he was going to begin billing her card for membership dues. She has put no card on file with this company so if he bills her it will be with the card she used to pay for the membership with originally and has given them no authorization no bill. SO in short...I wasn't going to go this route, because I have an absolute disgust for this man Brent and I felt that the company need not suffer for one man, However now that this is affecting a loved one and she (who has just given birth to my son, and has trouble getting out and about with a newborn) is being bullied by this punk, I feel a personal obligation to my fellow man, and to anyone involved with this company, to give a heads up that this is common practice at this joint. This is one of many stories I could reference....I hear it all the time about this guy. In whole .... a nice facility, but when an employee operates like this, it overshadows any good that may take place behind those walls.

After three separate instances of my son being hurt by another child in the Kids Korner, I expressed that I was no longer comfortable bringing him, which is the primary reason I opted to spend the extra money on a membership there as opposed to Planet Fitness. The child that had hurt my son, I was told by the manager, had been sent home for similar issues three other times that same week, yet he was still allowed to go. I guess collecting membership dues is more important than the safety of the children there. Additionally, when I cancelled my membership, I was not notified that they were still going to charge me for that money that even though I cancelled before the billing cycle. When I called to dispute the charge, I was basically told that yes someone SHOULD have advised me of their cancellation policy, and the fact that they didn't basically is my problem, not theirs.

Would be excellent if it weren't for the people/staff in Camillus. There is a personal trainer there "Mike" tall with dark brown hair who is the most rude person I have ever met. Unless you have boobs he doesn't think your good enough to even talk to you. Forget bringing your girlfriend there too. He will ignore you and then step between you to hit on your girlfriend right in your face! I'll go to the gym when Mike is working and he won't even be in the building or won't even greet you unless your a hot girl or complete "meathead". Great equipment, ghetto environment!
