I have been working out my entire life. I’m 64 years old now and have been to many different gyms over the years from small to very large national gyms . I’ve been at crunch lake grove for a few years now and can’t say enough about them their staff is amazing, the gym is kept in spotless condition and many of their machines allow you to train left or right side independently which is a great help to me recovering from a stroke !!!! I wish I had two more hands so I could give them 4 thumbs up!!!!

Called to ask when yearly fee is due. Person answers the phone with "what's up". Ummm okay...guy can't find my membership even though Lori the owner had me switch from Hauppauge to LG. Guy ended call with " we don't want you here I'm tearing up your paperwork ". If you want to call them back be sure to block your # since they screen calls and let the phone ring once then disconnect on purpose. Great gym. Only major qualms I have are 1) the saunas are very small. 3 people can fit sitting down and it's a bit tight, and 2) only 2 flat bench press machines. Staff is great!

The one thing that’s annoying is they have these trainers here that have to blast the music so freaking loud that I can’t even hear my music on with my EarPods in and noise cancellation on. I've never really stayed at a gym long enough for it to feel like family but crunch in lake grove is by far a family to me. They have watched both my children grow even my littlest go from not crawling to now running. The vibe is just what I needed. It's clean, the equipment is kept up with. As a woman sometimes when you go to places like this, you could feel uncomfortable, but this is not the case. it definitely felt like home since day one. The fact that they offer a babysitting service is phenomenal. I'm so grateful.

The gym is okay... things to know before you sign up.

Canceling is a nightmare.
You don't have a login as a member so you can't cancel by web. Or by phone. You have to physically show up to the physical location you signed up at.

Crunch Memberships on Long Island aren't usable off long island, which is not what I was told when purchasing my membership.

The sauna never breaks 135 either.

I usually have a great experience at Crunch gyms, but my recent gym session to the Lake Grove Crunch was horrendous. I encountered one of the most disgusting male employee who was racist and rude.
I was at the gym close to closing time around 6 PM on a Sunday, and this white male worker singled me out to rerack the weights while ignoring other predominantly white gym goers. When I told him I would put the weights back after my exercise, he rudely yelled at me not even two minutes later to put them back immediately.

To make matters worse, I saw this same worker, who was wearing a black Crunch hoodie, put the merch back on the shelves as if it were new, despite having worn it all day. This is so unprofessional, unsanitary and straight up disgusting.

The final straw was when this worker entered the women's locker room without knocking or announcing his presence, which left my girlfriend feeling disgusted and violated. I dont understand how this can even happen.

This behavior is straight up unacceptable, and I hope upper management sees this and take action to this worker. This worker should be fired for his discriminatory and unprofessional conduct. This experience has seriously tarnished my view of Crunch, and I hope measures are taken to ensure such incidents do not happen again especially to newer gym goers who deserve a safe space at the gym. Also women should really be careful of this worker as he may go into the womens locker room again like I experienced.

The gym is fine.
My issue is the staff that handled my membership cancellation.
I had gone into the facility as directed by the phone conversation to cancel my membership.
While there I also asked about a recent $60 charge to my card because until that moment, I had been frozen so I wasn’t expecting any charges.

He condescendingly tell me that’s the annual fee and clarifies that isn’t unfrozen monthly charge. I say “Thats fine, I need still cancel my membership”

And his response “that’s fine by me, you’re gone. Bye”

Very unprofessional but otherwise had an excellent experience at the gym

I've been part of this gym for a year now, and initially, I was super scared, especially as someone who hadn't been to the gym in years because I was healing from some injuries that made me feel super self-conscious.

But the gym was so inviting and friendly, and the entire staff is as well.

I don’t just love working out; I love going to Crunch Fitness Lake Grove. I honestly get sad if I don’t have time to make it to the gym.

The gym is always clean, and there are more than enough machines, weights, and classes, and the community members are so kind. When it comes to the sauna, everyone shares.

Crunch Fitness Lake Grove has been a big part of my healing journey. I will not go anywhere else unless I had to move.

Usually I don’t leave reviews for places because I can’t be bothered. This place deserves to be shut down. At night the place is always a disaster and the night time young lady behind the front desk is always on her phone or talking to her coworker and never doing her job, I mean I had to go searching for paper towels last night when I was done using the treadmill. Not to mention, I have also seen the owners of this place scream at these poor kids AND these two people, who I assume are personal trainers, are always yelling at each other too! If everyone is so miserable with each other, why don’t you all go find another place to work? This place is garbage and the customer service by the night time worker is always awful, then I tried to come in to speak to the manager and he was flat out rude to me as well. I canceled my membership this morning and will be telling everyone I know to go elsewhere.

Horrible customer service. Had the wrong email on file so I couldn’t sign-in online, called to fix it, said they did (but didn’t). Had a membership for 10 days, never attended the gym, and because of all this decided to cancel my membership; however, when they have you electrically sign all those documents (that you just sign and don’t look at), you’re agreeing to pay the annual fee of $60 if you want to cancel your membership. That clause is CRUCIAL and should’ve been verbally disclosed. So, on top of the $10 registration fee, I’m now out $70 to a gym with horrible customer service, that I never even went inside. They still made me pay the fee after explaining the entire situation, no compromise. Go to Planet Fitness, it’s way cheaper and I’m sure their customer service is far better than this Crunch location.

Good gym in terms of equipment for price, Unfortunately a bunch of 150lb guys looking at themselves in mirror benching with giant arch and improper form they can’t handle screaming as if they lifted something that was 400lbs.When it was 260lb worse off gym promotes this behavior by filming it as a great accomplishment.If you want to go to the gym for a decent price this is it.But unfortunately you have to deal with this nonsense all day!

It’s a very nice gym but they have a bunch of broken equipment now and they have not fixed/replaced it. Seats/benches have holes in them, cable machines aren’t working properly. The weight adjustment have broken pieces and can’t be adjusted to those weights. Little things like that has made the experience at crunch much worse for me

This is a really awesome gym with some of the must-have machines to train your whole body. The indoor track is nice when you just want to take a quick warm-up walk before your workout without being on the treadmill. The membership fee is reasonably priced when compared with LA fitness.

The only complaint is their venting system. It could be the season, but the gym feels stuffy. I hope the team can address this then it will be a definite 5 star.

I have been to many gyms and have used many personal trainers throughout my life. James is by far the best I have ever seen. His knowledge of anatomy, proper form and the appropriate exercises each person needs is without parallel. Not to mention that James has a friendly demeanor and an upbeat personality.

I have seen James train other people as well. He customizes the exercise plan to the needs of each person.

Giving this Crunch 5 stars as a credit, hoping that the new management will make this place shine again.
-I’ve been a member of this gym since summer 2021. Over the months, the cleanliness of this gym has fallen down. Men lockers can be nasty in the evening, and although the patrons should do a better job keeping it clean, I believe that additional cleaning personnel can make a difference.
-Another issue for me is the usual chaos with barbell plates (disks) at squat racks and benches. It’s PITA to move two or three 45 lbs plates to get to a 10 lbs plate. Again, patrons of this gym could do a better job putting the weights back on racks, but they need an example set by trainers and staff.
-There is all equipment you need to exercise your body. So far the equipment is in good shape, and if there is an issue with cables or whatever, it gets fixed fairly quickly.
-Lastly, trainers at the gym are professional and seem to really care about people and the gym. James F. has been a great trainer for me. His passion and drive are infectious. He knows a ton about training and will tailor the training program specifically to your needs.

All I can say is wow. Worth the wait. The spacious layout of the entire gym with all top of the line machines and brand new weights is exactly what I was looking for! Not having someone breathing down my neck while I workout is such a breath of fresh air, Literally!

3 Squat racks that are always taken up. Can’t use ropes or punching bag area ever because there’s always a class using them. Very inconvenient gym that doesn’t allow you to do your routine on your time. They make you work around them. Why pay 30 upfront plus 50 a year plus 15 a month if you can’t workout as you please.

One word: FRAUD.
Laurie, the gym owner needs to own up to her mistakes. After reading all the low rated reviews, it was clear that many were upset at the delayed opening. I didn’t want the delay to cloud my mind until I personally had to deal with the owner.

I originally joined Crunch Lake Grove online in the late summer of 2020 before they opened- after months of no confirmed opening date, I decided to join a Crunch at a different location. I called Lake Grove and my call was forwarded to the owner, Laurie. I explained to Laurie that I need to cancel my membership with Lake Grove as I decided to join a different one as I need to get back to daily exercising due to health issues. Laurie took down my name and confirmed my cancellation and asked me to change my home gym when Lake Grove opens, and I agreed.

Crunch Lake Grove opened up in November 2020. In early January I discovered that Laurie never cancelled my membership like she promised. I have called and stopped by almost every single day since early January and haven’t received any calls back. On February 5th, I was able to speak to Laurie as she played dumb and tried to convince me we spoke the week prior. Laurie asked me to cancel my other crunch membership at a different location as I explained it was her error but I am more than happy to work with her and change my home location to Lake Grove as long as I get my refund. She explained her billing can only refund up to one month. As a business owner, YOU have the power and authority to refund your customers and fix the problem, don’t play stupid. She went on and provided negative feedback of another Crunch gym at a different location hoping I’d change my mind to cancel the other gym and not proceed with a refund with Lake Grove. This is conniving and disgusting for any business owner to talk negatively about their competition especially when they made an error, don’t admit it and refuse to discuss solutions.

I have also tried to cancel my membership multiple times to avoid getting billed again, but for some reason there is no one that can authorize my cancellation when I request it nor can I get a phone call back. I will continue chasing Laurie as she illegally continues charging my credit card, refuses to provide a refund due to her own error and commits FRAUD.

Definitely joining this gym.
I used my 3 day pass. It’s spacious. Clean. Staff seemed friendly. Loved the indoor track. The girl who showed me around was very nice. She didn’t know the answers to some basic questions like “what does HIIT stand for” (I couldn’t think of what it meant) and I asked about the cleaning products we will be using on the machines. I bring my own wipes to any gym I attend so her not knowing the answer was not a deal breaker for me.

New spot, great selection of equipment. 3 power racks, indoor track upstairs. People here wear masks. The staffs friendly and keep the place clean. For the price I’d recommend.

We signed up for this gym in August of 2019 the gym never opened due to whatever circumstance then covid hit. We canceled our membership May of 2020. Today is December 3rd and I was charged $60. These people are scam artists

Yes it took a long time to open, but now that it finally is I can say this is easily one of the nicest gyms I've ever been to. The place is huge; social distancing is a non-issue. The safety mechanisms on the new equipment were a little confusing to operate at first, staff was able to help very easily, overall a nice place to work out, and I look forward to coming here for group classes.

Tried to contact anyone in reference to when the gyn would be opening, with no response. So of course wanted to cancel my membership since we joined last year with a promise of an opening date of January. Once again tried to contact via email and phone with no response. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT 😡
